Madeleine McCann: Danie Krugel Is The Locator, Gerry McCanns The Roof And Paedo Alert
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
NEWS OF THE WORLD front page: “Maddie was alive on beach”
“A renowned international manhunt expert, dubbed The Locator, sensationally revealed he has uncovered a telltale DNA trail left by snatched toddler Maddie McCann”
THE LOCATOR – in the papers and all over Praia da Luz from Sunday (see press for details). Anyone else see a made-for-TV series or a fly-on-the-wall documentary?
Ex-cop Danie Krugel has tracked the “forensic route” he believed her kidnapper took from her Madeleine’s Portuguese holiday apartment. It ends on the beach
Says Krugel: I spent four nights in July carrying out my searches. I’ve been able to trace where Madeleine was in the resort and have drawn a map which has been given to the police.
“I can’t reveal details as I don’t want to alert anyone who might try to disturb the scene. But I believe I’ve traced where she was taken that night and now it’s down to police to use their search experts to do the rest. The area to which my investigation led me is a difficult one to search”
Disturb the scene? The beach at a popular tourist destination made famous by the disappearance of a little girl? Yes, best not disturb that. And tell the wind and the tide to stop, too
A source “close” to the McCanns says: “The work of Mr Krugel should not be underestimated and gives great hope to Gerry and Kate. Many people have contacted the couple to try to help but while their hearts may be in the right place they just don’t have the expertise to be of assistance. But Mr Krugel has a proven record of finding people and his methods are extremely credible”
Like this credible helper. And this one. And this one. And this one…
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE SENSATION – BOYFINDER CALLED IN”
• McCanns hire leading DNA expert
• He pinpoints area on local beach
• New cops urged to start digging
And fishing…
“Desperate Kate and Gerry McCann” sent a strand of Madeleine’s hair to South African police colonel Danie Krugel. The Locator has located the spot where Madeleine’s body is buried
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “WOMAN WHO COST MADDIE FUND £51K”
“Anguished Gerry McCann sensationally split from the expert masterminding the worldwide hunt for his missing daughter Madeleine after she put in a whopping £20,000 overtime and expenses bill”
PR Justine McGuinness charged Gerry and wife Kate £51,000 for 89 days’ work. “Her basic fee was £350 a day, making a total of £31,000. And the rest was made up in overtime payments and expenses - including bar and restaurant bills”
A source says Gerry saw the bill and “hit the roof”. He was “livid”
So she went. And was replaced by Clarence Mitchell
“Gerry was the only one who wanted Clarence,” readers learn. “He was determined to get him after building a strong relationship with him in Portugal. But nobody else wanted him because he had given Kate and Gerry - what some of the family thought of as - questionable advice”
Can the McCanns’ PRs get a PR before their names and sullied?
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “New police chief turns screw on McCanns”
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “MPs demand record of child-tracking devices over paedophile fears”
Oh?
“New laws to regulate the use of high-tech child-tracking devices are being called for by MPs amid fears they could be used by paedophiles and stalkers. The technology is aimed at parents wanting to keep tabs on their children after a series of high-profile child murders and the disappearance of Madeleine McCann”
Maybe all adults should be chipped instead? Or children paedo-proofed - why let it ruin your holiday?
THE TIMES: “Detective who suspected Kate and Gerry McCann may lead hunt”
Luis Neves, 41, is seen as a forerunner to replace Goncarlo Amaral as lead detective. He was seen by the McCanns as a “breath of fresh air” when he joined the inquiry team.
“But he later became convinced she had died in an accident in the McCanns’ apartment”
Or will it be Carlos do Carmo? He has no previous connection with the case, and was Amaral’s predecessor as director of the police in Portimao. The Times says he earned the respect of colleagues after bringing the killer of a police officer to justice
Who will it be: Carmo or Neves? Press your keypads now!
Or C: The British Supercop?
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: “Police have open minds, insists Kate McCann”
“Kate and Gerry McCann are ‘furious’ at Portuguese police claims that British detectives believe their missing daughter Madeleine is dead”
Says Kate McCann to friends: “The police have told us they have an open mind. Of course we accept it’s possible Madeleine may no longer be alive but we don’t know and nor do the police, so we have to do everything we can to find her”
Clarence Mitchell refuses to comment on “the latest unfounded, unsubstantiated rumours”
A source says: “”Quite how any child would die falling off a sofa is beyond me”
She fell off the sofa? Really…
THE OBSERVER: “Forensic DNA tests ‘reveal traces of Madeleine’s body on resort beach’”
“Retired” South African police superintendent Daniel Krugel is on the beach
Are you?

You could run across some of Will’s escaped pigs.
Then what would you do. Best stay safely indoors.

Manon, Two of their immediate family are on the board of the company. That gives them plenty of say in how it is administered.
As for closing it down if Madeleine is found, why would they leave it up and running?

Manon - Have you considered the fact that with charity status the fund would be have to be availables for public viewing on the Charity Commission website. By opting for a company they don’t have to make anything public for a year, by which time I’m sure they would have believed she would have reappeared and the account would have been closed down. Given the fact that the accounts are legally compant profit they can do what they like with it on closing the company down.
******************************************************************
You’re “sure they would have closed it down”. Oh really? How did you come by this conviction - don’t tell me - a psychic.
They have created a company to make it absolutely clear the money is *not theirs* and is *not adminsistered by them.*

Hi all i did not want to suggest coded messages , i may have instigated that unintentionally yesterday She was keeping a diary he was blog blogging away. making sure that they would in the event of being seriously questioned by the pj ,they could sing from the right hymn sheet. as discussed here today if your child was missing you would do a live search for her under every rock and bush till you dropped at night dont look for her on the web or under popes nose. we would have thought far more of them, i am so unimpressed with them. hope the pj fries them this week.

They applied to set it up as a charity but Gerry said beforehand that he knew they wouldn’t accept the application because it was only for Madeleine. You have to have a wider remit. I gather the intention from the start was to give it that wider remit and set it up as a charity (for other children) when Madeleine had been found. That’s what they said at the time and still are saying. (See the official site.)
However, the situation has changed now because it’s quite a long time and we still don’t know what happened to her.
I think it is such a large amount that soon they will honour that aim to give at least some of that fund to a wider cause. During their campaign, before all this business of being arguidos started, they had begun to raise awareness a lot about missing children in general and were hoping to do work in that direction. I remember KM saying that she thought she might change her life’s work dircetion and dedicate herself to working for missing children. I think all this was therapeutic and a sort of “turning evil into good” if you like.
I still believe that at some stage they will apply for charity status again, with a wider remit than just Madeleine, or give the money, or some of it, to a charity already existing to help missing children.
I think this would be the right thing to do and I would be very disappointed if they did not do this.
As to the timescale, I couldn’t say. People who gave, gave in order to help find Madeleine in the first instance, for example, to help them stay out in Portugal if they had to (although they didn’t use the fund for that, they used their savings), to publicise Madeleine’s disappearance etc. I think the money thing spiralled beyond anything they or anyone else ever dreamed of. I know they very quickly appointed a lawyer to deal with all that because, presumably, they wanted it on a proper legal footing straightaway. My own view is that people who wanted to help just gave money! they couldn’t do anything more concrete and that was just a way of “helping” in some ill-defined way. You have to remember what a wave of sympathy there was for them at that time. To be honest, assuming for the moment that they did not kill Madeleine or cover her accidental for some evil purpose, I would think the fund must have been the last thing on their mind in itself. In fact, it seems to have been used carefully and sparingly. I don’t know what salary was right or proper but, if it’s true that Gerry thought McGuinness was asking too much, I might think he was simply being careful with the fund rather than mean. (I don’t know anything about this so I can’t really say. It’s all newspaper reports.)
However, I think the time will come for realism but it is for the fund directors to decide that. They will have to decide what is in the spirit of the fund as well as what is simply legally OK. They did this when looking at whether or not it could be used for legal expenses. (Not that the McCanns had asked for the fund to be used for that. They expressly they would NOT use it for that.) The directors sought top legal advice and were told it would be legal to use the fund for that purpose but they still decided that it could never be used for such a purpose because that would not be “in the spirit” of the fund’s declared aims.
So I will just have to hope that, at some stage, the directors decide to honour that “spirit” again. They don’t have to. The official aims say that it is when Madeleine has been found that the fund will be used for others. However, somehow I don’t think they will wait for ever. The point is that this particular couple do seem determined not to give up. Some people might have come home long ago and just tried to get on with life as best they could. They seem absolutely fixed on finding Madeleine whether she is alive or not. So I don’t know when they might feel the first aim of the fund has been fulfilled.

Yes we can meander into the pendantry of what celebrity actually means, and the fact that you can become famous for nothing these days.
However I don’t believe you don’t know that there’s a difference between girl-who-went-on-BB-because-she-wanted-to-be-in-Heat, man-from-Eastenders, & *couple-in-the-press-because-their-daughter-is-missing*,

Copy from this - sorry when I read Tony’s post I relized I had inserted my own comment in there.
But Judge and Tony if the death were accidental or embarrassing would that not count as ‘Accidental Death’ - because those of us who believe in the Accidental Death of couse look at the abduction as a hoax to cover that up. At least I believe that the Abduction is a ‘Cry Wolf’ to cover up the death.

Read this on Brian’s dreams posted on 15th september and thought it to be the post of some kook, later it came out that they had in fact used the services of ex-SAS through the relevant security company.
Not sure of the date that the ex-SAS contact became public.
Opinions please?
Dear Brian,
Excellent website, keep up the good work!
A few months ago I travelled out to Portugal having seen your website. I met the McCanns and showed them one of your pictures. The same afternoon I met two members of the SAS at the seafront where I showed them the drawings of the kidnapper on your website. He was the recently returned receptionist at a local Hotel. The SAS searched his room and two portugese police confirmed him as the kidnapper. Various other houses in the vicinity were searched but Madeleine was not found. Why is this not known!?
Because the Hotel Complex where the kidnapper worked has probably been a long term setup by the US to spy on various crime syndicates! The kidnapping of Madeleine was unexpected but perhaps predictable if you deal with such a low level of life. Portugal, with it’s porous borders, corrupt politicians and unregulated building development must be a magnet for mafia billions. This might explain why the McCann’s have been setup in such an amateurish fashion.

GERRY MCCANN’S ANGER (CONT.)
Gerry McCann storms out of TV interview - By Caroline Gammell in Praia da Luz - Last Updated: 2:54am BST 31/08/2007
QUOTE: Gerry McCann walked out of an interview on Spanish television after being asked probing questions and left his wife Kate alone in front of the cameras. Mr McCann became frustrated after being asked questions about the police investigation. The 39-year-old cardiologist lost his cool during a tense encounter on a prime-time current affairs programme. When repeatedly questioned about the police investigation into four-year-old Madeleine’s disappearance, he stood up, removed his microphone and walked off the set. UNQUOTE

Celebrity TV Doctor Gerry “Babyface” McCann tells the Mail of the Sun that he has hired Captain Jack Harkness from the secret Torchwood foundation to help in the search for his daughter Madeline © 2007.
“When wer guid friend Jane described the abductor as having no facial features, I immediately thought of Kate (39) wi’out her makeup on. But then someone from Torchwood got in touch about a Dr Who episode in which killer TV sets stole folks’ faces leaving them kindae blank, just like Jane’s mystery man.”

In a separate development, Gerry and Hotlips Kate revealed the real reason they have been photographed jogging so much of late.
“We’ve been shooting a commercial fer wer new breakfast cereal, “McCann Flakes” - ‘ For People On The Run’.”
We asked Gerry if he and Kate were “on the run”.
“Look, we’re no goin’ in tae details, here,” he replied, while tugging at this left ear, “We’re no on the run, and I’m no fer the bloody high jump, either!”
