Madeleine McCann: Danie Krugel Is The Locator, Gerry McCanns The Roof And Paedo Alert
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
NEWS OF THE WORLD front page: “Maddie was alive on beach”
“A renowned international manhunt expert, dubbed The Locator, sensationally revealed he has uncovered a telltale DNA trail left by snatched toddler Maddie McCann”
THE LOCATOR – in the papers and all over Praia da Luz from Sunday (see press for details). Anyone else see a made-for-TV series or a fly-on-the-wall documentary?
Ex-cop Danie Krugel has tracked the “forensic route” he believed her kidnapper took from her Madeleine’s Portuguese holiday apartment. It ends on the beach
Says Krugel: I spent four nights in July carrying out my searches. I’ve been able to trace where Madeleine was in the resort and have drawn a map which has been given to the police.
“I can’t reveal details as I don’t want to alert anyone who might try to disturb the scene. But I believe I’ve traced where she was taken that night and now it’s down to police to use their search experts to do the rest. The area to which my investigation led me is a difficult one to search”
Disturb the scene? The beach at a popular tourist destination made famous by the disappearance of a little girl? Yes, best not disturb that. And tell the wind and the tide to stop, too
A source “close” to the McCanns says: “The work of Mr Krugel should not be underestimated and gives great hope to Gerry and Kate. Many people have contacted the couple to try to help but while their hearts may be in the right place they just don’t have the expertise to be of assistance. But Mr Krugel has a proven record of finding people and his methods are extremely credible”
Like this credible helper. And this one. And this one. And this one…
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE SENSATION – BOYFINDER CALLED IN”
• McCanns hire leading DNA expert
• He pinpoints area on local beach
• New cops urged to start digging
And fishing…
“Desperate Kate and Gerry McCann” sent a strand of Madeleine’s hair to South African police colonel Danie Krugel. The Locator has located the spot where Madeleine’s body is buried
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “WOMAN WHO COST MADDIE FUND £51K”
“Anguished Gerry McCann sensationally split from the expert masterminding the worldwide hunt for his missing daughter Madeleine after she put in a whopping £20,000 overtime and expenses bill”
PR Justine McGuinness charged Gerry and wife Kate £51,000 for 89 days’ work. “Her basic fee was £350 a day, making a total of £31,000. And the rest was made up in overtime payments and expenses - including bar and restaurant bills”
A source says Gerry saw the bill and “hit the roof”. He was “livid”
So she went. And was replaced by Clarence Mitchell
“Gerry was the only one who wanted Clarence,” readers learn. “He was determined to get him after building a strong relationship with him in Portugal. But nobody else wanted him because he had given Kate and Gerry - what some of the family thought of as - questionable advice”
Can the McCanns’ PRs get a PR before their names and sullied?
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “New police chief turns screw on McCanns”
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “MPs demand record of child-tracking devices over paedophile fears”
Oh?
“New laws to regulate the use of high-tech child-tracking devices are being called for by MPs amid fears they could be used by paedophiles and stalkers. The technology is aimed at parents wanting to keep tabs on their children after a series of high-profile child murders and the disappearance of Madeleine McCann”
Maybe all adults should be chipped instead? Or children paedo-proofed - why let it ruin your holiday?
THE TIMES: “Detective who suspected Kate and Gerry McCann may lead hunt”
Luis Neves, 41, is seen as a forerunner to replace Goncarlo Amaral as lead detective. He was seen by the McCanns as a “breath of fresh air” when he joined the inquiry team.
“But he later became convinced she had died in an accident in the McCanns’ apartment”
Or will it be Carlos do Carmo? He has no previous connection with the case, and was Amaral’s predecessor as director of the police in Portimao. The Times says he earned the respect of colleagues after bringing the killer of a police officer to justice
Who will it be: Carmo or Neves? Press your keypads now!
Or C: The British Supercop?
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: “Police have open minds, insists Kate McCann”
“Kate and Gerry McCann are ‘furious’ at Portuguese police claims that British detectives believe their missing daughter Madeleine is dead”
Says Kate McCann to friends: “The police have told us they have an open mind. Of course we accept it’s possible Madeleine may no longer be alive but we don’t know and nor do the police, so we have to do everything we can to find her”
Clarence Mitchell refuses to comment on “the latest unfounded, unsubstantiated rumours”
A source says: “”Quite how any child would die falling off a sofa is beyond me”
She fell off the sofa? Really…
THE OBSERVER: “Forensic DNA tests ‘reveal traces of Madeleine’s body on resort beach’”
“Retired” South African police superintendent Daniel Krugel is on the beach
Are you?

This is all rather confusing now,did they think Maddy had been snatched or not, these direct quotes from the Times seem to contradict their original story Mr Woolfall was surprised by the reaction of British viewers to the couple’s demeanour. “I was struck at the perception of people who had watched Kate and Gerry: that they were very controlled and perhaps were not responding in a way people thought would be more natural. They were not at all controlled. When I was with them, they were between being completely distraught and trying to do what they felt was the right thing.” Armchair detectives have leapt to wild conclusions based on the few alleged details of the case to have emerged. One bone of contention has been whether Mrs McCann, when raising the alarm that Madeleine was missing, screamed: “They’ve taken her.” Some have questioned why a mother would leap to the conclusion that a child had been abducted.
Mr Woolfall says that he heard no suggestion in the early days that the girl had been snatched. “Certainly I did not hear any discussion that this could be a paedophile or an aggravated robbery. All the time I was around it was whether she could have wandered off and had an accident or somebody had actually taken her in, perhaps not with ill-intent.
“During the first 48 hours the word being used was ‘missing’ rather than ‘abducted’ or any link with a paedophile or any sort of crime. Towards the end of the second week I detected a shift towards there being a consciousness that she had probably been taken rather than wandered off, just on the assumption that anybody would have found her by now. My son a senior detective has told his father that if he or any of his colleagues had been in Inspector Amaral’s position they would also have wanted to make an arrest and the fact that he was prevented from doing so smacks of political interference, however politicians are not above the law,my son said that if they have been found to be interfering with a lawful case, they also should be charged with obstruction or perverting the course of justice.

701 Thea - Chris Langham is as likely to present Blue Peter. About half the public are anti-McCann of one shade or another. Of the other half, at least some don’t give a damn, so they’re not all pro-McCann. Reality is the reverse of the picture presented by the media. Hotlips on the telly? Gerry a spokesman for child safety? Why not make Michael Barrymore a spokesman for RoSPA? The sooner Team McCann wakes up and smells the coffee, the better.

I like the idea that there is a computer programme, mentioned above, that can put in all the witness statements taken at the time and create a simulation of what they say happened that night and whether it was possilbe.
If they are all re-interviewed it would also be interesting to see exactly how the simulation changes based on their new statements. The differences between them may be the key to what really happened.
This should be for all witnesses, from Murat to the Tapas 9 to the Mccanns.

amarality tale,
sorry i do not think this is a consideration because their mortgage is being paid for by an english billionaire , brian kennedy. much of their other financial obligations are being backed by other similar personalities, some known and others anonymous. the guidelines for the madeleine fund specifically states they may use money for their living expenses. the fund is making a nice profit in interest alone. i believe there are other reasons for their image concern. it was in full force even before arguido status. if the story about mitchell wanting kate to be photographed in her swimsuit is true for what reason could he have in mind other than some kind of desire to line her up for a media position imho of course. gerry himself has declared his intense interest in his “doing something” politically related to child safety and especially related to child abductions. he made these comments several times and the first time i believe was at the edinburgh international tv festival.

Love where Kate says, “Just occasionally you’ll have a — if you’re having a really bad day, which we do.” http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/10/05/earlyshow/main3334438.shtml?source=mostpop_story
So, “just occasionally” they have “a really bad day”. I imagine most parents in this situation would be going through HELL - every day! And no, if a mangy stuffed toy was the last thing my child had touched, I’d NEVER wash it. It is not leaks from the Portuguese police which are making this couple look guilty, but their own words and actions.
Well, everyone seems to have gone to bed. Think I’ll join you. Not literally of course - this isn’t a Tapas Bar party, after all. G’night.

October 7th, 2007 at 11:16 pm i read a few articles. all from uk press, quoting uk billionaire, brian kennedy who had pledged to pay their mortgage. for how long: i don’t know but he sounded like he was in for the long haul.
Maybe Gerry’s pal the Pope will make Mr Kennedy a saint when he kicks the bucket. It’s not like there aren’t any poor people with missing children. A lot of people would have sold their house and down-sized before accepting hand-outs, but then some people have self-respect and honour, not like these smarmy pan-handlers.
Bored with them and sick of them. Get them out of the papers. By all means, fill the papers with Maddy’s picture, and pictures of other missing children, but get this “Special-K” couple out of our lives with their annoying, condescending bleating. “Went for a jog today”, “The kids spent some time in a friends pool today,” “Spent a whole 10 minutes as a family today,” “Another TV interview today”, “Auntie Maggie frae Glasgow flew out to Portugal just to make us mince and tatties today,” “Requested…er, I mean, were give suspect status today.” If you’re innocent, then shut up!

692 - thea Says: i think the reason they are so concerned with their image is because they hope to sell their image in some capacity in the near future…gerry is setting himself up as some kind of worldwide child safety-napping expert and more than one male anorak poster has salivated over kate’s delicate beauty and expressed hopes she will be a morning tv star.
They may have such ambitions, but right now I think they are trying to protect their probably very-high mortgage-payments. If enough shit sticks, Gerry will be lucky to get a job stacking shelves in a supermarket in the dead of night - no pun intended. Maybe he’ll send hot lips out on the game.

‘Sophie Hook was a cherished child, who illustrated the fact that good parents are as vulnerable as bad parents to having their children abducted; that is a salutary lesson for all of us.”
In this age, “good parents” wouldn’t let their children sleep in a tent in their own garden at night - and we are not even told here whose garden it was - especially with this notorious, rottweiler-loving, giant paedophile lurking around the streets! Sorry, this one is straight out of “Kate and Gerry’s Guide to Raising Children”.

Amarality Tale
I wouldn’t believe those explanations about the DNA and sniffer dog evidence being unreliable. These explanations were given by people close to the McCanns, not by anyone with any true scientific knowledge and experience with these matters.
I’d go through the points, one by one, but it’s late (well only after 8 pm where I live, but I’m tired) and it’s been covered before over and over again in the forum.
Feel free to bring it up on Anorak on the next day’s forum if you’d like it to be discussed.

Was this the thread that discussed Clarence Mitchell allegedly wanting Kate to be photographed in her bathing suit with the twins in the pool?
Thought I’d add another take on it from a different article, in which Mr. Mitchell reportedly said that it was a photographer’s idea to do so and that he shot it down.
QUOTE
It was also reported yesterday that the couple’s new spokesman Clarence Mitchell, 46, was not everyone’s choice to take over from McGuinness.
According to one newspaper Gerry was the “only one’’ of the family who wanted him on board.
A source claimed this followed advice which angered the family that Kate should go swimming so as to get pictured in a swimsuit.
But a pal of Mitchell last night dismissed the story as rubbish.
He said the idea had been put up by photographers and was dismissed by Mitchell.

“Detectives were confident enough with the evidence to declare the couple arguidos, or official suspects.
But McCann family members explained the DNA – Madeleine’s clothing had been placed in the boot of the Renault Scenic, as had soiled nappies belonging to the couple’s young twins Sean and Amelie. The “corpse” smell was due to left-over food including meat being taken to a rubbish tip in the car.”
This is great news for people - like me - who are opposed to the police-state DNA data base. One person’s faeces and urine can be mistaken for another person’s sedative-laced blood! Also, top-notch sniffer dogs can mistake the smell of old half-eaten hamburgers for a human corpse!
I used to buy the Mail, having give up on all other papers. Never again. What a crock of shit.

lillith,
i think the reason they are so concerned with their image is because they hope to sell their image in some capacity in the near future. and i don’t mean in a court of law for i don’t believe this case will ever see the interior of a courtroom. gerry is setting himself up as some kind of worldwide child safety-napping expert and more than one male anorak poster has salivated over kate’s delicate beauty and expressed hopes she will be a morning tv star when this whole mess is over (which according to mccann pr will be by christmas). just in time for the new tv season.

This from this morning’s ‘Daily Star’ looks very promising:
QUOTE
POLICE plan to use a new crime-busting computer programme to crack the Maddie McCann case at the touch of a button.
The software – designed by two criminal psychologists – uses hi-tech data analysis to unravel complex cases.
It has been programmed to reconstruct the movements of everyone involved the night Madeleine vanished from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal.
A test run – based on the evidence known so far – ruled out the possibility the four-year-old was abducted.
It says the most likely scenario is that she died inside the holiday home on May 3.
Detectives will use the programme to help re-launch the investigation after a new police chief takes charge this week.
Officers will input witness statements, crime scene photos and plans as well as details of forensic evidence.
The programme will then analyse the data, produce detailed conclusions – and even suggest how the police should proceed with the investigation.
Its inventors at a Lisbon university say it could revolutionise police probes worldwide.
Portuguese criminologist Francisco Moita Flores said the programme highlighted “in-consistencies’’ in the witness statements of the McCanns and seven pals who were on holiday with them.
“The essential fact is that the parents and the friends all lied in relation to the timings,” she said.
Last night it was revealed that one of Portugal’s most respected detectives is to take over the inquiry this week.
Chief Insp Carlos do Carmo made his name in 2005 after tracking down a gang of armed bank robbers.

This piece was printed in its entirety on one of the pyschic forums and suggested that Kate returned to the apartment drunk, lashed out at M, and disposed of her in a bin bag taken away by an unnamed man-not Gerry- and dumped with the garbage. It also indicates that M suffered from various allergies.
It is interesting bacause it appears to have been posted long before speculation in this direction had become common practise.
I am no supporter of the Mccanns and have an open mind regarding psychic ability but I found this a bit too sick. Sorry I can’t supply a link but it has been mentioned a number of times in previous threads.

Just someone making a nice little story up. For one thing, the blood traces found on the wall ended up not belonging to Madeleine or anyone in the family, per media reports on forensic test results, but to someone who rented the apartment after the McCanns moved out, due to an injury he sustained. At least that’s what I’ve read.
I wouldn’t put any credence in ‘Madeleine’s’ plea.
October 8th, 2007 at 12:58 am
apologies but i find the astro-psychic stuff to be garbage. if there was any truth to such “arts” they (meaning the astrlogists and psychics) would have found Madeleine by now and solved many other of the world’s mysteries and problems.
