Madeleine McCann: DNA Jigsaw, Torture And The Twilight Zone
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE DNA PUTS PARENTS IN FRAME. British experts insist their tests are valid”
Page 7: “DNA tests ‘fill in more pictures of jigsaw’” – A source close to the investigation provides the headline quote. But what has been found is unsaid, and how it involves Kate and Gerry McCann
“New police chief is accused of torture” – Chief inspector Tavares Almeida is to face charges of “beating up a robbery suspect in custody”. The Express says this is a “torture scandal”. The alleged victim – who was accused of being part of a gang that sexually abused children and coerced them into violent muggings - was acquitted
Mr Almeida was dubbed “Kate’s Tormenter”, possibly by the Express today
DAILY MAIL page 8: “New DNA tests ‘put the McCanns back under suspicion’”
The McCanns, both “doctors” are said to be “extremely distressed by the claims”
DAILY MIRROR page 7: “COPS GAVE UP SEARCH THREE MONTHS AGO”
“Investigation in tatters as second detective accused of violence”
THE SUN front page: “McCANNS’ AGONY – MADDIE: NEW DNA LINK TO KATE”
British forensic scientists “are said to believe tests on fresh clues support earlier findings that led to the McCanns being declared suspects”
Page 4: “McCANNS ‘LIVING IN A TWILIGHT WORLD’”
Clarence Michelle says: “We had reports that DNA had proved ‘inconclusive’ and even it had put the McCanns in the clear.”
Reports from whom is not reported
“Now there are reports that the DNA is making them look suspect. There are wholly innocent explanations for any material police may or may not have found. This just goes to show what a twilight zone we are operating in”
The Twilight Zone – wasn’t that the name of the TV show with the sting in the tail?
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE: NW DNA DAMNS PARENTS. Brit police find shock evidence”
But they have not been arrested. The McCanns are just suspects. How is this damning?
Pages 8 and 9: “MADDIE: SHOCK NEW DNA CLUE TO PARENTS – Boffins say cops on the right trail”
“Torture rap cop” – Tavares Almeida is 48
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 9: “Portuguese police ‘right to focus on McCanns’”
A British source says “Everything that has emerged indicates that the investigation is focusing where it should”
A British detective says the case is being “done back to front” – the parents should have been looked at first. The mantra is: “Clear the ground from under your feet”

151 - DeeDee Dee If the claims turn out to be correct, the words ’shit’ and ‘fan’ spring to mind. Hope Clarence had finished his lunch before he got word of that.

If this is true can we safely say that the abduction theory is almost certainly dead?

brandonflours- Times Online- Mitchell says Mcs 1 st priority is to clear their names and 2 nd find Madeleine. What, how luditosh does that sound?
I couldn’t give a stuff what they thought I had done, my first priority would always be to my child. After all they have got a massive entourage to look after the Mcs, lawyers, PR etc. Who does Madeleine have looking after her?
Think 24 Horas may have been reading Anorak aswell re O’Brien , vomiting child etc.

“Criminal Profiling Topic of the Day: Another “Ludicrous” Theory in the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann ”
——————————————————
A long post so haven’t copied it all (and can’t read the numbers down the side) but briefly it talks about the possibility that Madeleine’s body could have been transported back to England. I touched on this when I posted a couple of days ago after watching again the RTE video which was filmed in Spain where Mrs. McCann, when asked why she wanted to stay in Portugal, replied: (not verbatim) “Because I’m closer to Madeleine here…(paused)…then added..or perhaps I would be closer to her in England…” I thought that was a curious thing to say - perhaps a slip of the tongue - so I am posting the link to this RTE video here again.

Children in China are sold for as little as £250 upwards by child traffickers depending on age, sex and looks. £250 is a measley sum but the average annual wage for a production worker is £1,200. Another fact, one of many, which I found astounding is that newborns go for less as they need too much care in the first few months. Girls in China go to their husbands family to look after the family in old age. Lack of girls in China due to selective abortion etc. Some families with a son will buy a small girl raise her and then marry her off to their son when she is of age.
Exactly brandonflours- jesus.
What kind of world do we live in?

Thanks for the link…. That’s an appallingly biased article that links together separate pieces of information in an attempt to cast doubt on the whole enquiry. The fact is that an officer involved in the case is facing extremely serious charges. Another fact is the lead officer is a suspect in another case alleging police brutality and forcing confessions from suspects. If the allegations are proven, I agree it is at best embarrassing for the police and damages the integrity of the Madeleine investigation.
That said, you do have to look deeper and question some of the time lines in these separate allegations. I haven’t a clue when Tavares Almeida was charged? Before he was appointed to the Madeleine case, after? If charged before being assigned to the Madeleine case then this does appear to be a real dumb ass situation for the PJ to have gotten themselves into. If he was charged after he was assigned to the Madeleine case then the PJ should have removed him immediately the allegations were made.
In the case of Goncalo Amaral, we know that he was made an arguido sometime after he commenced working on the Madeleine case. It’s arguable in this case whether the PJ removed him quick enough. N.B. I have suggested elsewhere that the whole thing with Goncalo Amaral publicly accusing the McCann’s of interfering in the investigation was a ‘put up job’ so that the Portuguese authorities had a ‘reason’ to remove him without having to imply any guilt/culpability in the case he has been made an arguido in.
In both cases, the point in time when the allegations were made is very important. They may just be unfortunate coincidence. One or other, or both, may be opportunistic allegations by the individuals concerned. One or other, or both, might be put up jobs deliberately designed to cause embarrassment to the PJ – Do keep in mind that there is a very sophisticated PR operation in progress. And yes, we do need to be confident that the officers prior behaviour doesn’t point to an unacceptable approach to their work and/or any wrong doing in the Madeleine case. I believe that if charges are ever brought against the McCann’s then we can expect part of their defence/PR spin to focus on the inadequacies/fallings/working methods of the police officers involved. i.e. They will, not unreasonably, try to discredit the investigation.
Incidentally, I believe I have seen elsewhere that “Former British child protection officer Mark Williams-Thomas”, mentioned in the report, actually now works for some PR based company that allegedly has/had some links to McCann’s campaign at some stage. Don’t know if that’s true, or his/his companies current relationship to the McCann’s. His quoted comment, ““The focus should be on finding Madeleine, not on senior officers in the case.”” is straight out of Comical Clarries ‘book of words’. Whether he, you, I or anyone else likes it there are reasonable suspicions to suggest that Madeleine is sadly dead and that her parents know rather more about the events of May 3rd than has thus far come to light. i.e. The reason the police are not seemingly looking for Madeleine is because, rightly or wrongly, that there is no point.
And Comical Clarrys comments in relation to recent conflicting press speculation about the veracity of DNA evidence are plainly daft. He’s a PR specialist for heavens sake! Has no one bothered to explain to him that sometimes ‘sources close to whomever’ don’t actually mean anything, other than someone needed a beer! As I’ve pointed out elsewhere, neither can you rule out someone close to Comical Clarry deliberately leaking these ‘stories’ so that he could then do a round of interviews pointing out how dumb and conflicting they are.
Just because something appears in the media, it doesn’t mean it is true or an accurate reporting of events. Let’s hope that some charges are eventually brought in this case so that the ‘facts’, whatever they may be, are brought into the public domain.

Solved it - it is now reported (by the Times no less) that the children of the other members of the Group were in the McCann’s room and this was the room all parents were going to- obviously one of the older children could have killed MM by accident - the sick one? - if so, the parents of the killer would be keen to cover up.
The rest is history - I expect it will take weeks for the truth to out, but you heard it first from old Hary Hindsight - of the Yard no less what what.

Off track a bit but did anybody see the programme about missing children in China last night, I mentioned it on last nights post. Up to 70,000 children in China go missing each year. The resources these families have to find their children is ridiculous. Some go into lifetime debt to find a loved one through private detectives as the problem is so prolific .There is a lack of government support partly beacause the problem is so widespread and partly because of the goverments part in this problem due to the one child rule. One couple whos 5yrd old son was missing risked huge government fines just putting up missing posters of their son as it is against the law. 7mnths on the child still hadn’t been found and the emotion and distress of the mother was horrendous. She cryed saying I always wonder if it is cold outside will he be shivering, if he is hungry will he be fed.
Worlds apart from what we are discussing on Anorak but very thought provocking

127 - “They hope that he will concentrate on eliminating them from the inquiry as suspects and will then be in a position to refocus the efforts of his team in finding Madeleine.” One way to start would be answer the bl**dy questions!!!

I’ve been following that case too. Used to live in Greenville, SC where Devon Epps was killed.
Amanda Smith and her son were allegedly car jacked by a man with a knife. He had her drive to a remote area where he made her get out of the car and proceded to smother he son with a pillow while she was outside the car banging on the window. Cause of death was strangulation.
Incidently the boys bedroom had caught on fire three months prior to the murder. He woke up and escaped. Police are very tight lipped about the entire investigation - which says….
If the police really suspected there a child murdering car jacker was on the loose someone would have turned him in to get him off the news and tv back to regular programming.
Incidently it’s the same state as Susan Smith.
(of course this is only my opinion)
