Madeleine McCann: DNA Jigsaw, Torture And The Twilight Zone
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE DNA PUTS PARENTS IN FRAME. British experts insist their tests are valid”
Page 7: “DNA tests ‘fill in more pictures of jigsaw’” – A source close to the investigation provides the headline quote. But what has been found is unsaid, and how it involves Kate and Gerry McCann
“New police chief is accused of torture” – Chief inspector Tavares Almeida is to face charges of “beating up a robbery suspect in custody”. The Express says this is a “torture scandal”. The alleged victim – who was accused of being part of a gang that sexually abused children and coerced them into violent muggings - was acquitted
Mr Almeida was dubbed “Kate’s Tormenter”, possibly by the Express today
DAILY MAIL page 8: “New DNA tests ‘put the McCanns back under suspicion’”
The McCanns, both “doctors” are said to be “extremely distressed by the claims”
DAILY MIRROR page 7: “COPS GAVE UP SEARCH THREE MONTHS AGO”
“Investigation in tatters as second detective accused of violence”
THE SUN front page: “McCANNS’ AGONY – MADDIE: NEW DNA LINK TO KATE”
British forensic scientists “are said to believe tests on fresh clues support earlier findings that led to the McCanns being declared suspects”
Page 4: “McCANNS ‘LIVING IN A TWILIGHT WORLD’”
Clarence Michelle says: “We had reports that DNA had proved ‘inconclusive’ and even it had put the McCanns in the clear.”
Reports from whom is not reported
“Now there are reports that the DNA is making them look suspect. There are wholly innocent explanations for any material police may or may not have found. This just goes to show what a twilight zone we are operating in”
The Twilight Zone – wasn’t that the name of the TV show with the sting in the tail?
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE: NW DNA DAMNS PARENTS. Brit police find shock evidence”
But they have not been arrested. The McCanns are just suspects. How is this damning?
Pages 8 and 9: “MADDIE: SHOCK NEW DNA CLUE TO PARENTS – Boffins say cops on the right trail”
“Torture rap cop” – Tavares Almeida is 48
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 9: “Portuguese police ‘right to focus on McCanns’”
A British source says “Everything that has emerged indicates that the investigation is focusing where it should”
A British detective says the case is being “done back to front” – the parents should have been looked at first. The mantra is: “Clear the ground from under your feet”

ive thought for ages now that the car was a red herring.
the kid was drugged, looked for mum, smashed her hed in on the stairs etc
and the cleaning stuff was put in the car later.
i think the odds are she is down one of the cobbled over holes that were in the road.

“What I can say though is Kate and Gerry have nothing to hide at all. They are perfectly happy to answer any of this, if it comes to it….”
I see “if neccessary” or “if required” have become “if it comes to it”.
Anyway semantics aside, why wait until it’s neccessary, required or it comes to it? Why not voluntarily return to Portugal and help with the investigation? Now that the “big, bad scary” policemen have gone there’s nothing to fear, is there?
If the evidence can be explained then why the f**k don’t they fly back and explain it instead of letting their mouthpiece keep repeating the same crap over and over and over?

58 Soothsayer.
Agreed. Think that the body will never be found. Was always amazed at that ‘Find the Body’ challenge and the subsequent ‘Put up or Shut Up’. They may think they are on safe ground in this area. But trouble is now, they don’t know what other forensic evidence is in the PJ hands. Slyfox’s point re M maybe having a specific genetic marker very interesting.
As I keep saying, if someone is innocent - why all this preemptive damage limitation? Interesting times.

LOL…. .I am a cancer survivor..3 times now, and same age as “her”. I have met her on many occasions as one PT job I do is that of project manager for events organizer.. she is nothing like that public cute image.!!! I could go no but will not…….
Somewhat off topic ..but could not resist getting my oar in.

I used to live in SA, was there in 2006 visiting family and medical specialists , and Kruegel is demerited ,as is his methodology by both police and scientists.cancel him ..he is a fake.Might have been an OK cop once upon a time….. dunno about that. I read mountains of waffle about him..none of it good.
I honestly do not believe all the top PJ have in fact been taken off case at all.Just taken and put undercover.
I also suspect they have a lot more than British know and that includes McCann’s and Press…..but not quite enough yet to arrest and charge them. Hence the ongoing diversionary waffle from Clarence M.who is trying hard to guess what they have as he really does not know.

you only cover up something if you have done wrong,if there could be consequences for your actions.the sooner people get to grips with the idea that no body is going to be found, the better they may see where this is goung,i believe some one it must have been a moment of madness, challenged the PJ to find the body, now why would some one as clever and trained in logical thinking do this, answers on the back of a cheque to the slush fund.

Bishop Brennan
Sounds a bit like politicians, public image and popularity is the first priority, improving your’s and mine lives (which we are paying them to do) takes a back seat.
October 9th, 2007 at 11:55 am
Tracey (number obscured). Perhaps they did not move her in the car. Perhaps only her clothes were moved - for disposal. Easy to stuff the poor girl’s clothes in the wheel well, and then burn / dump them. Far more credible than moving a body I think. I suspect the body was buried or disposed of locally and never moved.

i was talking of the corrupt pjs yeserday
it looks like he who interogated kate is facing trial for brutal
interogation
October 9th, 2007 at 11:52 am
From Clarence’s statement: “The couple were “coping” and were throwing themselves into working on their defence”.
Excuse me, but if they are truly innocent, why are they not ‘throwing themselves into looking for Maddie” - confident that there can be no evidence that can show them as guilty?
I thought parents always put their kids first? “Never mind us - the truth will out in time - so let’s keep looking for our darling daughter”. Instead it seems to be a case of “Never mind looking - we’ve our good names to clear - let’s focus on that above everything”.
Actions and priorities consistent with guilt.

I couldn’t agree with you more.
It really pisses me off when celebrities recieve honours from the Queen for ’services to television’ or ’services to the entertainment business’.
THEY GET PAID A FORTUNE FOR DOING THOSE THINGS!
They would not do them for free. Imagine Jonathan Woss’s response to ‘hey Jonathan, we love your show but the budget is getting a bit tight, could you do a series for free please because the viewing public would really appreciate it?’
Yet the lady who lives on the council estate, has not had a holiday for 20 years and never buys herself luxury items because she fosters children and provides them with a loving and caring home gets no recognition whatsoever.
You can probably think of myriad other types of people who put others first.
What a complete mockery.

macien,
i know. and no offense to cancer survivors.
i hate to admit this but i am always amazed when i see kylie because she has such an amazing body and looks so young for her age and i wonder if she looks as good in person or if she even eats very much if anything at all. and then here fiance is just a most delicious man and i think she must be a beautiful person if he adores her.
complete silliness on my part. i wish her well but personally think her music is awful. you hear one of her songs and it sticks in the brain for days!

Possibly- IF they killed her in apartment - it was far earlier than we are led to believe, and she was disposed of before dinner..the DNA etc. being transference from apartment to car and not a body being moved at all.
Just an idea.

peter o,
i know what you mean but they are almost always odd and strangely never saying very much at all. i too had wondered why a commercial flight home and yet they used greene’s when flying to belgium, italy and us? their strategy to have pr is questionable especially since it was an act taken early on in may. if it would have been initiated when they became arguido i could understand that. also, the fact they have 2 diffferent lawyers; one for kate and a different one for gerry leads me to believe they know their time is short. however, i really don’t think they are ever going to be tried. i really believe they are going to get away with something. maybe not murder but certainly gross negligence and obstruction of justice. imho of course.

5 Thea..
Never mind Pete D, Paris, Britney and Amy -what of Kylie who “won” an “idol” award at Q Music awards 2 nights ago , for getting over non terminal cancer, not for any music she does ..what parallel sainted universe does she have to live on.? Most people say Jane Tomlinson..who was she ? …. Which is kinda scary…..do we only worship the celebrity world ????? Give them awards for getting flu, whilst ignoring real heroes/heroines…..
I am losing the will to live in this media kerfuffle of rubbish..even my paper The Independent has gone OTT a bit on McCann’s

mikesa,
i didn’t get the feeling too many here believed his claims. it sounded to me as if he’d watched ‘the prestige’ one too many times and thought he was channeling tesla.

agree batman huelva needs to be thorougly investigated and makes more sense to me than uk. i never read anything about o’brien having a hire car except for athe words of a poster on anorak.

39 thea Says:
i know for a fact when they left portugal together they took a commerical flight. Edit……
+++++++++++++++
Yeah you’re correct, EasyJet… Oddly this is the point in time where I began to really wonder if all was as they would wish us to believe. At this time the DNA and arguido status might just have been some sort of monumental cock up. (Still might be of course.) It was after the ‘press conference’ on the tarmac at East Midlands airport that I really started to question just how innocent they are.
I don’t understand why they chose to leave Portugal on a commercial flight, with the twins, having first ensured that the media knew about their flight details. Why didn’t they use the private jet? Perhaps it had been withdrawn/wasn’t available by then, I don’t know.
Why bother with the ‘impromptu’ statement to the media? They didn’t really say anything. Here I am four months on, and 100% innocent of any involvement in my beloved daughters disappearance (save the debate about leaving her alone in the first place) and now I find my wife and I as the main suspects in her disappearance by an inept police force that have clearly lost the plot. If indeed they ever had it. I’m completely innocent, some low life(s) have/had my daughter, she may be alive and suffering, she may have suffered and died, who knows? No one is now looking for either my beloved daughter or the perpetrators of this terrible crime.
I don’t know about anyone else, but given the fact that I KNOW my wife and I are completely innocent I would be absolutely incandescent with rage. Not for any injustice against myself or my wife, but because my daughter is no longer the centre of the investigation. Once I had removed myself and remaining family from Portuguese territory I would have held a very public press conference, no PR people, just myself and my wife and I’d have called the Portuguese authorities bluff – remember, I KNOW they are bluffing because I KNOW I/we are completely innocent. I’d have gone public on everything I knew and then challenged them to lock me up anyway. I’d happily draw attention to the case by rotting away in a Portuguese jail (the rest of the family/Team McCann would still be on the outside campaigning against this madness) if only to expose the nonsense the police were spouting and then hiding behind their own secrecy laws.
But, they didn’t. Instead they refreshed the PR staff and recruited some hot shot legal people. Actions which left this writer feeling very uneasy about what really happened to Madeleine on or about 3rd May.

Hi all. (posted this on what is apparently yesterday’s thread).
Just an observation.
I thought I saw in one or two reports some mention of samples from a total of 12 vehicles had been taken for analysis?
If there is any credibility in those reports, then this surely doesn’t only involve the Scenic and the Micra?
As far as Danie Krugler is concerned, the Gert van Rooyen victims have still not been found.
He has claimed success in at least one case of a missing child, and we have a poster claiming he has had some success with missing cattle.
I don’t think too much credence should be placed on either of those two reports.
As far as missing cattle is concerned, cattle thieves coming across the Lesotho border has been going on since before the Rindepest, and seeing as he is a retired policeman, I would suggest that disappearing for a few days over the border tracking branded cattle, while difficult, is not that spectacular.
The interesting thing about the missing girl who’s body he did find, is that it was in an open area, not far from the home, but where the police had not yet searched.
Similarly, the area he took the Carte Blanche “reporters” to, was also an open area not far from van Rooyen’s home.
I would be inclined to suggest that this guy is probably a fairly good detective who has discovered the wonders (and the updated photographs of South Africa) of Google earth.
Coupled with contacts he no doubt still has with currently active members in the police force, I would think he could well have taken an educated guess in both those cases, and in the one, he got lucky.
While there have been many discoveries by self-taught scientists, I doubt a retired police officer from a backwater town would be capable of :
1.Understanding some hitherto undiscovered science involving molecular structure/movement.
2.Building a device to assimilate or track such movement based on some kind of analysis of matter placed in some container. (what sort of sensors are required, and where can you obtain such sensory devices or how can you build them? How do these sensors receive input, and what do they output? How does that correlate to completely seperate matter located a considerable distance from the device?)
3.Interfacing that with one or other bus on a PC or laptop.
4.Writing a program to collect the information from the device and interface that with any tracking or mapping system.
Personally, I own a software company that writes some sophisticated high-end software that interfaces with quite a lot of 3rd party devices and systems, and I have to admit to being more than a little perplexed by Krugler’s claimed grasp of technology and his abilities in that regard, never mind all the rest.

Body in England certainly possible. But reading Brandonflours post (20) from Criminal profiler Pat Brown, I think their trip to Huelva Spain also needs to be examined more closely.
Didn’t O’Brien have a hired car on 3rd May - and he stayed on after all the other Tapas Troupe has left town.
Must go, work.

Gerrys Blogg -Day 210
The food is still shit. I could murder a good bottle of wine! I won the social table tennis competition yesterday but someone has stolen the trophy.
Working hard on the Govenor. Hoping to work my magic on him.
Its strange that nobody is visiting me. I had so many good friends and work companions!
Well thats enough for now. I wonder who will read this on the wall?

I think, Huge amount of this comes down to national pride on the part of the British. I think, It is two white middle-class Brits being stitched up by lazy greasy Portuguese. But if the McCanns are ever charged - watch what will happen…..
I think we could see things like - Kate McCann, whole parents were both born in Ireland ….. and Gerry McCann, from Scotland, etc.
Just don’t believe we would have all this endless damage limitation if Madeleine has gone missing in, say, Cornwall.
October 9th, 2007 at 11:24 am
i know for a fact when they left portugal together they took a commerical flight. does anyone know if gerry was on greene’s private jet when he went to england before their exodus? i do think the wallet story fishy and needs to be studied more seriously.
