Madeleine McCann: Ben Needham Is Missing, Operation Predator And Maddie’s Cops
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “McCanns warn: We’ll sue over claims we drugged our children”
Page 7: “Madeleine parents: We have never sedated our children” – The “slurs” are “outrageous” and “hurtful”.
The theory that they sedated all of their children is a “wild theory”. It appears in Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas, a source for “some of the more outlandish reporting”. The Express reproduces the outlandish reporting for its readers to digest and marvel at
“Grim hunt for images as child-porn ring is smashed” – Operation Predator is a clamp down on child porn in Portugal. A friend of the McCanns says: “This shows the scale of the problem in Portugal and appears to show that the Portuguese police seem to be looking in the right direction. It may provide vital leads”
But the raids were not directly connected with the Madeleine case. Operation Predator was six months in the planning
THE SUN front page: “Maddie: cop raid on pervs”
Page 7: “McCANNS’ DELIGHT AT PAEDO SWOOP” – Kate and Gerry McCann are “encouraged” that 300 Portuguese police “smashed” a 80-strong paedophile ring
“’FIND OUR KIDS TV’” – Kate and Gerry have backed a TV channel that features the 150,000 UK children that go missing each year. Pictures of missing children will be shown at GP surgeries, shopping malls and hospitals
Page 37: “MISSING BEN AGONY – We were too working class to get help like Maddie’s family” – The mother of Ben Needham, who disappeared 16 years ago on the Greek island of Kos – sees haves and have nots
“I was 19,” says Kerry Grist. “Just an ordinary girl from a council estate and people thought, ‘She will just go away in a few months, have another child and forget about it…I don’t think people thought Ben was important enough.” Or the media didn’t…
Kate McCann is a doctor. Gerry McCann is a heart specialist. Both Madeleine and Ben are blonde
DAILY MAIL page 5: “Huge porn swoop offers hope of a Maddie clue”
“Could Ben still be alive?” – Ben Needham disappeared from near his grandparents’ farm house
Says Mrs Grist, Ben’s mum: “Madeleine’s parents are middle class people with important jobs and seemed to have had a publicity machine behind them straight away”
DAILY MIRROR page 15: “WHY STAY IF SHE HAD SOMETHING TO HIDE?”
A pal of Kate McCann says: “She could not tear herself away [from Portugal]. What mother could leave the place where her daughter vanished? …If she had something to hide why would she hang around in Praia da Luz waiting for the police to come knocking on the door?”
We don’t know. Why?
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE POLICE ARREST 80 PAEDOS”
Madeleine McCann does not have her own police force – not yet. But the police working on one case are Portuguese, like the police in her case. It’s an “EXCLUSIVE”
Page 7: “MADDIE COPS RAID PAEDOS” – The Star sees Gerry McCann leaving his home in a car. “STRAIN” reads the caption
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 17: “Madeleine police turn spotlight back on paedophiles”
“Missing children TV hopes to jog patients’ memories” – Ben Needham is missing. Xiao Xiao is missing. Lee Thomas Wedge is missing. Leanna Petrenko is missing. Abigaile Sommerville is missing. Andrew Paul Gosden is missing
THE INDEPENDENT page 24: “Mother in plea to missing son” – Ben Needham is missing
THE TIMES page 11: “Madeleine police return to kidnap theory”
German and Dutch police are believed to have been asked to trace and interview guests staying at the Ocean Club when Madeleine went missing
THE GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today

So where the hell is Auntie Phat Phil??

As all that seems to be on this forum tonight is another War of Independence…and an extremely vulgar war of words…and debate about Websters Dictionary - I must join in. First, I think American men are OK , well some of them - especially the ones who made you laugh like a drain, but sadly are no longer with us like Jack Lemon and the wonderful Walter Mathau (is that the right spelling) but I’m not too keen on the women as they take themselves so seriously.
Second I think the use of the ‘f’ word is the lowest form of wit - or abuse - for that matter and loses its impact if used continually; thirdly, Websters! I love Websters Dictionary. I have one here salvaged from a Charity Shop with some schoolboy’s name in it from long ago and I use this dictionary all the time. OK, Americans have many strange ways but the mass over there are definitely more articulate - and spell better - than the mass over here(UK) This is my last word on the matter.

……….and do we have a video of the McCanns stating that fact also?

Ade, could we please have an intelligent discussion without resorting to our cutesie and irritating little pet names for people? Thanks.

1067 nice one willow
And we could revisit the etymology of “gerrymander” too. Gerry’s blogs or Gerry’s meanderings?
October 11th, 2007 at 9:56 pm
There is video evidence of the Renault driven by a headless person seen wandering around the hills of Portugal with a muddy license plate and we are monitoring the cameras and when it circles the resort, as it has been doing for the last six months, every full moon cycle, we will hold a press conference and explain our findings.

I agree.

Personality disorders are just that - disorders. They make a minority of people behave in a certain way because of external factors…abuse etc. They are not excuses for bad behaviour. In this way, they are not diseases either. PND is a symptom of women having babies in a similar way that PMS is a symptom of a woman having a period. Why should those physical characteristics let you get away with criminal behaviour? I know Cho topped himself in Virginia Tech but are you suggesting that if he had lived he shouldn’t have been found guilty of murder? (he was supposedly mental).

Peter O:
Are you Richard Branson?
October 11th, 2007 at 9:55 pm
Peter O, which reminds me of hte poster on here, whose name I cant’ remember, who told us all ten times that her friends had seen Gerry going for a haircut the day after Madeleine disappeared, as well as going for a jog, as well as having a drink at the local bar, chatting up tourists and never mentioning his missing daughter. Certain aspects of this tale– namely, that Gerry got a haircut and went jogging the day after Madeleine disappeared– soon started appearing in certain posts as if they were somehow “fact.”
But people will believe what they want to believe and will cherry pick the facts from the falsehoods to suit their theories. To wit: At the moment, Stevo here is totally obsessed with this “blood on the stairs” bit, making up completely illogical scenarios that make no sense to anyone except him. The blood on the stairs thing was a very recent report in a Portugese newspaper which has printed dozens of false stories — and later admitted they were false! — over the past five months. Yet Steve insists this MUST be true, because afterall it was reported in a newspaper!
People are nuts. Really.

I have mentioned this before, I don’t follow any team sports and couldn’t care a less how the Ausie’s do or don’t do. It sometimes comes in usefull to mention cricket when conversing with a Pom if you want to annoy or rag them, but aside from that I pay no attention.

Soothsayer. Is Scarlett 870 talking about Fr. Paul Seddon? If so why?
October 11th, 2007 at 9:52 pm
Stevo:
I suppose that would be a good example, but we don’t have a lot of good video evidence of them say, at the resort to verify the times, etc. but I agree, that is a good case. Unless, of course, Madeleine was a hemophiliac? (cue dramatic music, and yes I’m kidding!)
October 11th, 2007 at 9:52 pm
Just having a look around after a few days away, there seems to be a change in the air. Comical Clarrie has lost the “initiative” and doesn’t seem to be spinning storylines in the same way as a week ago. The McConns seem to be on the back foot and just reacting to what the PJ lot do. Am I missing something here or has the whole charade turned on its head?
October 11th, 2007 at 9:52 pm
Wait wait, is there a new player? Blubberburst?
October 11th, 2007 at 9:51 pm
I wonder how many new word/Phrase entries this whole palaver will provide in future dictionaries?
“Don’t be a Gerry”? : A barefaced liar?
Or indeed
“A true Gerry” : A pillar of society facing and overcoming adversity
“Wash the Cat” : Get rid of evidence
Dont go all tabloid on me! : Chicken out on duties.
“McCann” - a runaway train
By the way Palaver originated from a 1890’s murder in Africa some where when a Fijian parlourmaid named Ver was found murdered in a parlour . The murder caused lots of fuss and accusations thus a palaver.

Questions to answer. (Police statements only).
Do we know:
- When MM disappeared? I.e the date and time.
- Where MM disappeared?
- Who saw MM last?
- Did MM suffer of any illnesses?
- Who are the biological parents?
- How is the relationship between the parents?
Thats just a start. As far as I know we can’t answer any of these with facts.

1022 The Real Stig Says:
There was a poster here a while ago - Miss Match - who obviously was a person with considerable medical knowledge. Edit…..
+++++++++++++++
And I’m really a 6’, well hung, blue eyed blonde billionaire with more staying power than a herd of Duracell bunnies…… I’m sorry, I have problems believing most of what passes for ‘fact’ in the media, why on earth should we believe your second hand opinions of some anonymous poster that just happens to support your world view?

The gate doesn’t need to be mentioned. It’s there to be seen in all its glory.

I’m with you, Stig.

1038 PND Stevo; Rosemary
“I don’t think post natal depression qualifies for most people because woman have had babies for thousands of years.” Don’t get the reasoning here.
I don’t know, but I am interested in why PND shouldn’t be an excuse for behaviour along with BPD and all its associated disorders. If someone has a mental disorder their behaviour may be impulsive and out of control because of the disorder. Why shouldn’t they be treated differently from a “normal” criminal?
Anyone any views?

1048 1)MADELEINE IS MISSING PRESUMED DEAD 2)WE HAVE TWO SUSPECTS THE PARENTS. END OF KNOWN FACTS.
October 11th, 2007 at 9:49 pm
1044 - Wanderer
A good example of lies and truth is the one of Madeleine falling up the steps on the plane. We know this happened because of the video. We can see with our own eyes that she barely falls and she falls onto her hands like the girl beside her (all truth because we can see it).
The McCanns then say that Madeleine fell and cut herself when boarding the plane and then dripped blood on her shoe (a lie).
October 11th, 2007 at 9:49 pm
(S)Chantilly Lace. Is that a deliberate mistake or one of Webster’s?
October 11th, 2007 at 9:48 pm
Scarlett
I like the way you play! Even if it’s a wind up…
Done some searching.
12th was Maddie’s birthday. kate couldn’t handle the media that day so planned statement never happened. Instead Warner spokesperson delivered it to media instead. Kate et al stayed indoors.
Next day they moved away from the apt they had moved into to a couple of days after disappearance - was near/in same block of disappearance apt -to private villa. Nowhere can I find how they moved, what type of vehicle they used to move, could this be the “not” silver car you mentioned?
Also it seems that Maddie might have shared her birthday with fatima, lots of bad reporting so can’t be sure of that one. But it was around this time that “spain” was being mentioned.
Haven’t searched your “priest” stuff yet! Can’t find any “private” mass, just day before birthday mass.
What did come up in that period was that the sniffer - not British - had sniffed something in two other apartments yards from the original McCann’s apt.
All in all, it seems that there was an opportunity to move the corpse in a car 10/11 days after Maddie disappeared and that this might be the car, or one of them, that they found forensic evidence in.
But that contradicts the move later, was there a move later than this? If I was being paid for this I could be bothered to spend nth hours on it - spend too many already. Anyways kept the links just that there are a lot of them and each has it’s own snippet of info.

Websters is a crap dictionary. Take it from an international scrabble player. I used to run world wide scrabble tournaments on the internet until Hasbro threaten to sue me if I didn’t shut my site down.
Bloody Yanks think they own the world. I wasn’t hurting anyone.

Wendy are you joking - there aren’t any! Well………that we know of.

I am saving all the name calling comments in a special file and after the Vatican gives me permission, and after I finish cataloging the taped confessional moans, me and my team of experienced detectives will take a blogging sensitivity course to brush up on our jerk skills and in the meantime I am hot after the bad guys, and I mean the really bad guys because that’s what I do best!
