A friend of the McCanns says: “This shows the scale of the problem in Portugal and appears to show that the Portuguese police seem to be looking in the right direction. It may provide vital leads”
But the raids were not directly connected with the Madeleine case. Operation Predator was six months in the planning

REPLY: Let’s speak in general terms. Something which spoke of a criminal act - or a series of criminal acts - or which spoke of serious negligence on the part of the parents.
Now some specific examples:
1. Violent loss of temper by parents
2. Serious fall
3. Recent or continuing use of (illegal) sedative drugs, possibly by injection
4. Madeleine found a controlled drug in pill form and swallowed it by mistake
5. Madeleine was poisoned
6. Deliberate killing, probably by injection, considered by the parents to be euthanasia
7. Some form of sexual abuse.
I maintain option 1 as the most likely, because we keep hearing about blood in the apartment or on the stone steps

We do not allow infants to repeat naughty words as often as they wish. Infants are only permitted two naughty words an hour or they get their mouths rinsed with a bar of very nasty tasting soap scum.
Thank you very much. And here I thought if one repeated a naughty word over and over again it looses its effect - well I guess that theory just went south for the winter.

I believe you. I was just saying I doubt you’d get off a killing charge because of it. I agree it could impair your behaviour but like I say, the law doesn’t recognise PND as a valid excuse for killing does it? I think a danger if they did is that more women would jump on the bandwagon and kill people to use that as their defence. That’s a good reason for not using it as a valid defence.

Well, to be fair, I’m just pedantic by nature.
In support of Stevo **IF** some of the leaked facts/speculation are indeed correct, then some of his, and other people’s theories may indeed be plausible/contain elements of truth. I’m not beyond posting the odd ‘wacky’ theory myself.. For instance, you and I were disagreeing about doctored photos yesterday. Also, as a ‘Recovering Roman Catholic’, I quite like my Roman Catholic Conspiracy theory…
The underlying point here is that just about none of the theories posted here (And I guess elsewhere), for or against, the McCann’s can be proven right here today.
And finally just to be open about my leanings on this whole affair. While I’m not convinced the McCann’s are guilty of anything beyond negligence I am far from convinced about their innocence in some more macabre/Machiavellian plot – I just don’t have the slightest clue what though. It’s just my opinion based on the same old media speculation and too much time here of late!

I’ve known a couple of women who suffered severe PND and were hospitalised. They were out of their minds for a time. Brain chemistry completely awry and not in control of their actions. Those who haven’t seen or experienced it would not believe it. I used to think depression was something one could snap out of, but it is not so.
