A friend of the McCanns says: “This shows the scale of the problem in Portugal and appears to show that the Portuguese police seem to be looking in the right direction. It may provide vital leads”
But the raids were not directly connected with the Madeleine case. Operation Predator was six months in the planning

Here is the ‘Telegraph’ report from 4 May; please note the last two sentences, as this shows that you got hold of the wrong end of the stick in the way you described Mark Warner’s child-minding service in your earlier post [P.S. The whole of that 'Telegraph' report of 4 May would repay careful study IMO]:

I read your post, but I think you have badly misunderstood the nature of the baby-sitting/child-minding service that Mark Warner’s offered.
I quote now from the ‘Daily Telegraph’ report of the 4 May - the day after Madeleine ‘disappeared’.
It’s a long quote from their report but I want you to focus on the last two sentences.
After doing so, you would need to explain (a) why the McCanns were not using that sevice and (b) why the claims of most of the ”Tapas 9′ about their visits to their children that evening are so contradictory and improbable.
Hopefully, after reading that, you wil not dismiss us McCann-sceptics as ‘kids’, ’schoolchildren’ etc. quite so lightly. Incidentally, the true nature of the baby-sitting service provided by Mark Warner, as described by the ‘Telegraph’ in its report, has been confirmed many times since. Here’s the extract:
