A friend of the McCanns says: “This shows the scale of the problem in Portugal and appears to show that the Portuguese police seem to be looking in the right direction. It may provide vital leads”
But the raids were not directly connected with the Madeleine case. Operation Predator was six months in the planning

The theories are based on infallible perceptions of negative character and behaviour as are perceived in the McCanns by the theorists. You do not need facts to burn a witch, just a flame and some wood.

Anna, I’d think abuse would be if someone felt truly upset and quite often repetitive actions where users refuse to stop when given a warning (by the mods). Also, I think threats are quite serious (there was someone on here who actually said they were going to “track someone down” etc.) and those comments combined with abuse, are yes, a bit worrying to me. The most I see here is a bit of name calling, which I don’t agree with and I’ve said in the past I think it is quite unnecessary but for those that constantly “dish out” abuse, I fail to take much pity on them if they start “receiving” abuse, unless it does cross a line (like threats). That is just my opinion though, and as I said, it is a subjective thing (everyone has their own threshold for what is and isn’t acceptable), ultimately, it is for the mods and admin to decide (officially anyway).

Sorry to raise a depressing subject but kids die in accidents every day:
On holiday they drown in the pool or the sea.A girl had a sandhole collapse on her on an English beach.
They wander in to next doors garden pond or sometimes grandma’s dog goes wild.
A boy had his neck caught in an electric car window-that happens.
They fall down stairs or out of windows.
They get scalded, choke on toys, sometimes even grapes.
I could go on and on…
Sometimes there is negligence - sometimes not really. Accidents happen and can’t always be predicted or prevented.
There is usually sympathy and understanding rather than blame for the adults involved.
So if she did’nt get abducted then why are so many people lying through their teeth?

Oh and in the response to Anna, no, I don’t believe that any of the comments here are malignant, if I see someone really going over the line, I take it is because they are most childish; possibly taking the wrong route to that banter, and simply gone too far? As for abuse, there are far too many unnecessary personal attacks on some users here but I don’t think half of those are reported, as people ignore them and the more “abusive” parties may put it down to banter. It’s all a bit subjective until you allow a mod to make the call.
Personally, I don’t agree with half of the things said here…I’m not crying foul half the time though, I usually write it off or make a tongue-in-cheek comment and get over it. That being said, if people are really upset about someone’s “attacks” (and may I just add the classic “don’t you be talkin’ about my mama” line?), I hope they do seek out the appropriate people (mods).

You all do know ,no doubt that in holiday camps with a well known name ,where working class people took their families twenty years ago,it was the practice to settle the little ones and head down tothe entertainment. Red coats, I think they were called walked ,around the complex listening at doors . If children were heard to be crying ,the parents were alerted .This was accepted practice in both Ireland and England. Maybe all those parents should be tracked down and jailed.
