The theory that they sedated all of their children is a “wild theory”. It appears in Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas, a source for “some of the more outlandish reporting”. The Express reproduces the outlandish reporting for its readers to digest and marvel at
“Grim hunt for images as child-porn ring is smashed” – Operation Predator is a clamp down on child porn in Portugal. A friend of the McCanns says: “This shows the scale of the problem in Portugal and appears to show that the Portuguese police seem to be looking in the right direction. It may provide vital leads”
But the raids were not directly connected with the Madeleine case. Operation Predator was six months in the planning

Just shows how totally unreliable 24Horas is.
(Though I’m amused by the Daily Express castigating it as a paper which has published “some of the more lurid stories” about the McCanns. Good case of pot and kettle really.)
This case is going to uncover so many dreadful things. I don’t think we’ve even begun to see what’s going on.

One of my older relatives told me that she used that patrol system in Butlins when her kids were small, many years ago.
That sort of “listening service” is quite common, I believe.
Now, I don’t condone what the McCanns did, but it’s exactly the same sort of thing except that they went inside to check their kids whereas the Red Coats just went round the chalets listening for any child that was crying. I wouldn’t choose to do it myself in case the kids woke up just after I’d checked but I’m just saying that countless parents do the same sort of thing. Some child-friendly hotels also operate the system.

Anna I am all for discussion. Earlier you were nipping at anything Wanderer had to say and I strongly felt she was being very cogent and diplomatic yet nothing could appease you hence my wondering if we were being attacked by a gaggle of witches? delboy, The point you are missing is that it was a simular scenario. Children were settled left and checked through doors . But it was worse because the person doing the checking was a stranger. At least you are discussing it.

I agree. The sedation theory is bunkum and any other type of accident doesn’t need to be covered up. Most people also seem to lack any form of empathy so they hypothesis the most ludicrous scenarios requiring the parents to be cunning and clever rather than the gibbering hysterical wrecks most parents would likely be upon discovering their child was dead.

To say the very least, it is extremely odd that Kate and Gerry McCann should consult a R.C. priest the very night Madeleine ‘disappeared’ - unless of course they knew Madeleine was dead, in which case they might be worried about her not having received ‘extreme unction’ or whatever hocus pocus the R.C.s do just before or after a death.
And giving them the keys of the church made the whole occasion even more unusual

No condemnation. I just felt a heaevy gloomy presence. I was disappointed I didn’t care for Manchester more because I admire so many musicians from there. I should confess I was there December - February and maybe it wasn’t the best season for the north. Verey Dickensian imho. Beautiful sun rises and sun sets. I just felt quiet and sad a lot of the time. And we experienced some rather nasty prejudice from locals in two different northeren cities. My wife is Chinese and she felt there was a lot of racism and not the charming quaint country she had imagined it would be.
