A friend of the McCanns says: “This shows the scale of the problem in Portugal and appears to show that the Portuguese police seem to be looking in the right direction. It may provide vital leads”
But the raids were not directly connected with the Madeleine case. Operation Predator was six months in the planning

Haven’t seen it myself but most of what gets in the British press comes from leaks to the Portuguese press. These reports have been inaccurate more often than not. I read a much more credible Portuguese report that said the forensics were near to being complete and would be passed on to the PJ via the British consulate. So if they don’t have the results yet then this is just another baseless rumor IMO.

delboy, Parents interview carers in a creche and introduce their children. These people usually have qualifications and come recommended. My sister was opening a Motessori school and you wouldn’t believe the amount of red tape. Alittle different wouldn’t you agree?

For me the cover up is over sex and or drugs. I’d like to think they were swingers, which is cool. Among adults thats cool. Nothing wrong with that if all parties are happy. So it has to be over more than that. Unless some vids were made which compromised them. But hey even home movies are not so rare these days. Not a big deal. Unless it featured someone famous like say, Richard Branson or Gordon Brown. So if they were playing Adult games good on them and no crime there. Excepting…….
……..If the kids were involved well that helps to explain a lot . Maybe just three or four of them were involved in the child abuse but the rest involved through swinging, watching or drug taking. Which ties them in not as deep but deep enough. Maybe on a spur of the moment they agreed to go along with a charade which quickly got out of control and now they can’t jump off. But one or two will soon. Maybe together to give each other strength. I think that some of the Tapas 7 are shitting it big time at the moment and one of these breaking seems to be a likely senario.
Drugs and sex come pretty much together in todays society. So a good chance of drugs being available. Being Doctors they would have a great selection and could obtain good strenght uncut drugs. On the government quite likely too. So maybe a the child downed a bottle of a designer drug died hit her head as she fell. Once again if they are all party to drugs they are all the shit. A strong character, (Gerry, O’Brian, Murat?) could use his carisma to quell the parties fears and by the time they realised they had been duped the whole affair had mushroomed and the window to confess had passed. Yes a few bricks laid by tapas 7 over the last few months I bet.
So ,whatever fate befell Maddelin, that explains why the removal of the body was needed. Panic, calculted, one of the two.
Also from the unorganised choas that was that night I can see what could be an organised plan orchestrated by the Tapas lot. Although things seem to be very all over the place that night the actions of the tapas guys almost seemed too organised. They mucked up on a couple of things but on the whole a polished performance.
Where are the rest of the Tapas clan? I can’t recall even a “no comment” from most of them. Strange reporters aren’t banging their doors down. Smacks of interference from high places though, as stoned as I am, I can’t really come up with any plausible theories. Lot’s of implausable ones though.
But it is a very good cover up. Maybe by luck or maybe by astute quick thinking or a mixture of both.
And the English press. Well, I think department heads might and should roll there. I never thought I’d see the day when a topical newsworthy story has been ignored so blatently. Not one mention on the BBC online site. That to me is incredible. A story about Ben Needham, a missing lad, which cried out for a link to even the merest mention of the McCanns topical plight. But nothing. Weird innit.
The PR guy is almost pitiful, I actually feel a bit sorry for him.
Why did the McCanns say they would willingly return to Portugal then not?
Why say that? Don’t make sense. unless one day they will be able to say “well we offered to come back……..” Why not just go and show those lazy drunk pj cops you have nothing to hide.
The statement by Gerry about not doping up his kids has already been covered by the mum? who sowed the seed of the abductor usinga drug on Maddeline to assist him in overpowering the 4 yo.

Maria, I wish people would be more vocal about that. Every human being is capable of poor judgement. A group of people doing the same thing would give a sense of “it’s fine , it’s Portugal, they love chidren we’re checking on them .Sure isn’t this what they did in Butlins and so on. I amsure nobody will ever do it again unless they are crazy but I don’t think it was abuse or wilful neglect to be honest.

If you have something to add then by all means please do. Your obsession with calling me a rapist is something a trained psychologist could fathom but I cannot. You’ve mentioned it several times in justs the last half hour so I think it is an unhealthy obsession of yours and that you have been severely damaged in your past and confuse love making with rape is really tragic.

Tony - I’m off to bed now, but yes, that’s how I read the recent Scarlett information. I still don’t understand the reference to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, or the reference to Raphael beneath-us, but perhaps an investigation of the church would shed light on those references.
I don’t think that the Renault issue is necessarily a red herring (as I understand it, DNA could be found on an item in contact with a body), but perhaps the more general point Scarlett is making is that the focus on it is detracting (perhaps intentionally?) from the real issue.
