Madeleine McCann: Ben Needham Is Missing, Operation Predator And Maddie’s Cops
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “McCanns warn: We’ll sue over claims we drugged our children”
Page 7: “Madeleine parents: We have never sedated our children” – The “slurs” are “outrageous” and “hurtful”.
The theory that they sedated all of their children is a “wild theory”. It appears in Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas, a source for “some of the more outlandish reporting”. The Express reproduces the outlandish reporting for its readers to digest and marvel at
“Grim hunt for images as child-porn ring is smashed” – Operation Predator is a clamp down on child porn in Portugal. A friend of the McCanns says: “This shows the scale of the problem in Portugal and appears to show that the Portuguese police seem to be looking in the right direction. It may provide vital leads”
But the raids were not directly connected with the Madeleine case. Operation Predator was six months in the planning
THE SUN front page: “Maddie: cop raid on pervs”
Page 7: “McCANNS’ DELIGHT AT PAEDO SWOOP” – Kate and Gerry McCann are “encouraged” that 300 Portuguese police “smashed” a 80-strong paedophile ring
“’FIND OUR KIDS TV’” – Kate and Gerry have backed a TV channel that features the 150,000 UK children that go missing each year. Pictures of missing children will be shown at GP surgeries, shopping malls and hospitals
Page 37: “MISSING BEN AGONY – We were too working class to get help like Maddie’s family” – The mother of Ben Needham, who disappeared 16 years ago on the Greek island of Kos – sees haves and have nots
“I was 19,” says Kerry Grist. “Just an ordinary girl from a council estate and people thought, ‘She will just go away in a few months, have another child and forget about it…I don’t think people thought Ben was important enough.” Or the media didn’t…
Kate McCann is a doctor. Gerry McCann is a heart specialist. Both Madeleine and Ben are blonde
DAILY MAIL page 5: “Huge porn swoop offers hope of a Maddie clue”
“Could Ben still be alive?” – Ben Needham disappeared from near his grandparents’ farm house
Says Mrs Grist, Ben’s mum: “Madeleine’s parents are middle class people with important jobs and seemed to have had a publicity machine behind them straight away”
DAILY MIRROR page 15: “WHY STAY IF SHE HAD SOMETHING TO HIDE?”
A pal of Kate McCann says: “She could not tear herself away [from Portugal]. What mother could leave the place where her daughter vanished? …If she had something to hide why would she hang around in Praia da Luz waiting for the police to come knocking on the door?”
We don’t know. Why?
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE POLICE ARREST 80 PAEDOS”
Madeleine McCann does not have her own police force – not yet. But the police working on one case are Portuguese, like the police in her case. It’s an “EXCLUSIVE”
Page 7: “MADDIE COPS RAID PAEDOS” – The Star sees Gerry McCann leaving his home in a car. “STRAIN” reads the caption
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 17: “Madeleine police turn spotlight back on paedophiles”
“Missing children TV hopes to jog patients’ memories” – Ben Needham is missing. Xiao Xiao is missing. Lee Thomas Wedge is missing. Leanna Petrenko is missing. Abigaile Sommerville is missing. Andrew Paul Gosden is missing
THE INDEPENDENT page 24: “Mother in plea to missing son” – Ben Needham is missing
THE TIMES page 11: “Madeleine police return to kidnap theory”
German and Dutch police are believed to have been asked to trace and interview guests staying at the Ocean Club when Madeleine went missing
THE GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today

I love Manchester. I used to drive through it every week for over a decade. Living out here in the USA I’d list the curry mile in the top ten things I miss.

Considering it’s possible to use IP spoofing programs, it’s still feasible to not know where any particular PC is located.

Think it is time to orchestrate another ’sighting’.

What I didn’t like was the whole thing when that Moroccan girl was pictured and all the papers were saying how “sad” and “terrified” she looked and yet, on discovering who she was, she was perfectly normal and happy!
October 11th, 2007 at 4:07 pm
Why are people beginning to give that idiot Sothsayers rubbish about the church being involved, the time of day total rubbish from a very silly fellow.

SSS,
I don’t think it’s unusual for a woman to keep her own name these days? My wife did.
What is troubling is that so much of that the press reports is contradictory. The timeline of the Tapas 9, the distance from the Tapas bar to their apartment, the correct name of the id’d blonde Moroccan little girl etc…I don’t believe the Brit press is practising ethical journalism - certainly not investigative to repeatedly make so many mistakes.

Without some one standing up and saying that it was true that the lad was wanting to shoot another lad over a girl, which jury will convict?
The prosecution would say what? This is how it would go
Ladies and gentlemen, we are going to prove to you that this boy was the person wearing a hoodie (which we don’t have), riding a bike (which we don’t have) who shot Rhys Jones with a gun (which we don’t have) over a girl (who says she doesn’t know him so won’t give evidence) that he had a relationship with (which he denies) and who was seeing another boy (who doesn’t know the alleged shooter OR the girl and hence refuses to give evidence) who we KNOW was standing at the corner (although he denies it and has 50 members of his friends and family alibi-ing him) and the bullet ricochet and hit Rhys.
Would you convict, bearing in mind that you have to be certain beyond a reasonable doubt?

Sherlock says (October 11th, 2007 at 3:51 pm)
“Are there still any pro-Mccanns on this site? This is getting a bit one-sided. We’re losing the critical side over all our theories for Madeleine’s disappearance”.
REPLY: True, the balance on this Forum has changed over the past 7-8 days. But there’s still plenty of debate on these threads about what may have happened - theories can be and are challenged, often quite robustly.
What is nice is that we are nearly free of the McCannites’ abuse…
constantly making ad hominem attacks accusing McCann-sceptics of being ‘evil/sad/uncaring/ McCann-haters’, etc., without proper debate on the merits of the arguments.
By the way, has that chap posted again who said he was tracking the IP addresses of the McCannites? - and promised to ‘name the names’ of those posting here who were very close to Team McCann? Perhaps he frightened them off!

…or are they subject to the same vow of silence of tapas yuppies?…..
October 11th, 2007 at 4:04 pm
stevo…manchester is the city to be in now mate, far more popular than london.etc……..dont forget all the no go areas in london and the street warfare down there..gun gangs galore…
October 11th, 2007 at 4:02 pm
born and bread in Kent myself, and anything past London is north to me lol
October 11th, 2007 at 4:01 pm
SSS - But… if the police know who killed Rhys Jones (as well as just about everyone in Merseyside and Lancarshire) why don’t they arrest him or her? Surely they wouldn’t need a confession or a witness.
It sounds like they’ve been working far too long with the incompetent portuguese police. Where are those investigative uber brains of criminal sciences that come on Sky every 30 seconds to criticise the portuguese investigation? why is nothing available about the Rhys Jones investigation - is it down to secrecy law - or are they subject to the same vow of silence of liverpool yobs?
In two words “double standards”.

All I can add to that is that good geographic knowledge helps!
October 11th, 2007 at 3:59 pm
I think you will find that one of the parents is not the genetic parent.
I think it will be Kate - one isnt, as Mark Williams on Sky said ‘…after taking into account the genetic effect of the IVF…’ and Maddie looks ‘Mccann’.
So it looks like the egg wasnt from Kate - hence the missing Motherly instinct - and explaining the whole demeanour.

Isn’t it curious how Jane Tanner is described as his wife, yet her name is Tanner, not O’Brien? I read in a paper (admittedly a tabloid) that they were “partners” - I assumed this meant in a biblical way!

Yes, I know Liverpool and Manchester very well. I know what you mean about the “code of silence” in those places. It’s a dog eat dog world in some of those cities. I was back in the UK when Rhys was shot and I remember on the Friday some pompous tw*t of an MP on telly saying Liverpool was the safest city in England to walk about. That very night, two bouncers were shot in Liverpool!

Apropos my post #542
The only travelling I do is either back South to visit family or to my weekend house. I have no idea where Leicester is, other than they have funny accents (could be some other place I am thinking of) and they are probably inbred retards which is what all Southerners are raised thinking about people who live north of Watford.
Now, WHO said they were a born and bred northerner

Among them were Dr Russell O’Brien and his wife Jane Tanner, who themselves have two young children.
Dr O’Brien, who lives in Exeter, was forced to make a statement last month, attacking “completely untrue and extremely hurtful” reports about him in the Portuguese newspapers.
Portuguese police also said there was “no basis” for the allegations.
Dr O’Brien and his wife moved to Exeter from Leicester shortly before the holiday in Praia da Luz.
October 11th, 2007 at 3:57 pm
Stevo,
Yes I know you lived in Nottingham … you mentioned it before.
Me too, and the “northerners called me a southerner and southerners called me a northerner” thing I’m well familiar with.
October 11th, 2007 at 3:56 pm
I object to unbelievers and scandlemongers defiling the name of the Holy Church of Rome and our Sainted Pope,we are above reproach,we are pure truthful and divine, amen.
October 11th, 2007 at 3:56 pm
Well me thinks although the twins resemble one another the boy hit the McCann ugly family tree branch(poor boy’s got the old man’s ever growing snout) but the girl is very pretty, like Madeleine. Odd that they are all so blonde as I think brown and black hair typically dominate genetically but looks like Kate’s genes superseded Gerry’s.

That clarification sounds like theyre are pretty sure of their. What do you think?
I remember reading sometime back speculation about GM falsifying a birth certificate.

Yes I know…to you southerners everywhere “up there” is norf!
I used to live fairly close to Leicester and northerners called me a southerner and southerners called me a northerner.
October 11th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
Are there still any pro-Mccanns on this site?
This is getting a bit one-sided.
We’re losing the critical side over all our theories for Madeleine’s disappearance.
If there is still someone in this planet who believes that the McCanns had nothing to do with Madeleine’s disapearance, could they please make themselves known.
Thank you
