The theory that they sedated all of their children is a “wild theory”. It appears in Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas, a source for “some of the more outlandish reporting”. The Express reproduces the outlandish reporting for its readers to digest and marvel at
“Grim hunt for images as child-porn ring is smashed” – Operation Predator is a clamp down on child porn in Portugal. A friend of the McCanns says: “This shows the scale of the problem in Portugal and appears to show that the Portuguese police seem to be looking in the right direction. It may provide vital leads”
But the raids were not directly connected with the Madeleine case. Operation Predator was six months in the planning

I knew about the USA having the highest prison population - that’s why I was speaking about it. Thanks for the link though.
Coming from the UK where crime - and especially petty crime is incredibly high, I think the problem in the UK is primarily one of not enough jails. The crimes in the USA are more serious and in no places in the UK can you feel safe leaving things without them being stolen or broken in to. The USA does still have good places where you can safely leave things without them being pilfered. Plus, you don’t walk down the street in the USA and hear the f-word in every sentence like you do from kids in the UK.
The UK needs a clean up like Guiliani did in NYC. Once you accept those petty crimes and the bad language as a day to day thing, you become conditioned to it and don’t do anything about it.

Besides which, how would it look to the world if, after saying they are prepared to return anytime when required, they refuse? What reason could they give for not returning?

I take your point though. I’m still thinking along the lines of Madeleine leaving the room and climbing on that arch by way of the chairs on the patio. It would be a horrific fall below - even from the arch facing the steps.
Do others think this alone would be enough of an ‘accident’ to warrant a cover up?

We lock too many people up in the US. Many are non-violent offenders who are arrested on drug-related charges.
Businesses make large sums of money by using very cheap prison labor to make their goods. Private corporations make money off building and managing these human warehouses.
The US incarcerates a higher percentage of its population than any other country (and we are supposedly ‘the land of the free’).

Sorry to disagree but I think Madeleine looks nothing at all like Gerry and is all Kate.
Paedo story is pure binary-Brit media spin-bull of course. I think we all realise this much at this point in time.
British press is doling out crap stories in an attempt to glorify the McCanns whilst degradinig PJ and casting dispersions on the whole of Portugal in general. Portugal is not a paedo haven. If anyone believes that grift they need to do a little simple investigating on paedophiles to get wise.

She reminded me that about 14 years ago a couple were in a family pub
and the parents were having dinner and drinking inside and their 2 boys were in the pub garden playing football.
One boy ran to get the ball from the carpark and was hit by a car.
They were charged with neglect and got slaughtered by the media.

What happened to the Maddie discussion?!!!!
I’ll kick off again, just need to make sure everyone is clear. The Mccann spin that the investigation of Maddies ‘going missing’ is the same as this Paedo ring investigation is not true.
The PJ were working on that well before Maddie was ‘abducted’.
Its blatent spin to mix the two.
Also, note that Gerry didnt take the opportunity to say that Kate is Maddies genetic Mother did he? Why not take the opportunitiy to say they are both the genetic parents? Maybe because one of them isn’t?
As Maddies has the look of the Mccanns, I think, it must therefore be Kate who isnt genetically linked, in my opinion.

I much preferred London to Manchester. I found Manchester cold and uninviting - even a little creepy and funereal even on the sunny days. The area countryside is beautiful but the northern cities( sorry northerners) I didn’t fancy at all. Love Scotland though. Edinburgh is a favorite city of ours.

The truth about crime in the UK is that it got out of control in the 70s and it has never been curtailed.
Let me tell you - where I live in the USA, in the papers the other day they were talking about building a new $200M jail in this state. They don’t piss about here in the USA with criminals. They lock them up and put them where they belong. In the UK all you get is that same old hackneyed arguments like “the hails are full” or “12 inmates have to share 1 bath”. That stuff makes me sick. I wasn’t aware that jail was supposed to be compared to a hotel!
Until the UK wakes up to how bad crime is there, it won’t improve. I remember in May 1997 when Blair and his cronies said they were introducing a “fast-track” for young offenders. Do you know of this fast-track? I don’t and we’ve only waited a decade for it.

I read through the previous McCann threads and there were several pro Mcs and a smattering of ad hominem attacks against sceptics and of course on the integrity of PJ. Most of the Mccann supporters have the oddest theory that those of us who question them, and even those of us who may be straddling the fence about how much they are involved and what exactly happened that day/evening, are for some wild reason or another “jealous” of the McCanns? Their justification ranges from their good looking to their well off and well connected. Unbelievable.
