Madeleine McCann: Ben Needham Is Missing, Operation Predator And Maddie’s Cops
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “McCanns warn: We’ll sue over claims we drugged our children”
Page 7: “Madeleine parents: We have never sedated our children” – The “slurs” are “outrageous” and “hurtful”.
The theory that they sedated all of their children is a “wild theory”. It appears in Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas, a source for “some of the more outlandish reporting”. The Express reproduces the outlandish reporting for its readers to digest and marvel at
“Grim hunt for images as child-porn ring is smashed” – Operation Predator is a clamp down on child porn in Portugal. A friend of the McCanns says: “This shows the scale of the problem in Portugal and appears to show that the Portuguese police seem to be looking in the right direction. It may provide vital leads”
But the raids were not directly connected with the Madeleine case. Operation Predator was six months in the planning
THE SUN front page: “Maddie: cop raid on pervs”
Page 7: “McCANNS’ DELIGHT AT PAEDO SWOOP” – Kate and Gerry McCann are “encouraged” that 300 Portuguese police “smashed” a 80-strong paedophile ring
“’FIND OUR KIDS TV’” – Kate and Gerry have backed a TV channel that features the 150,000 UK children that go missing each year. Pictures of missing children will be shown at GP surgeries, shopping malls and hospitals
Page 37: “MISSING BEN AGONY – We were too working class to get help like Maddie’s family” – The mother of Ben Needham, who disappeared 16 years ago on the Greek island of Kos – sees haves and have nots
“I was 19,” says Kerry Grist. “Just an ordinary girl from a council estate and people thought, ‘She will just go away in a few months, have another child and forget about it…I don’t think people thought Ben was important enough.” Or the media didn’t…
Kate McCann is a doctor. Gerry McCann is a heart specialist. Both Madeleine and Ben are blonde
DAILY MAIL page 5: “Huge porn swoop offers hope of a Maddie clue”
“Could Ben still be alive?” – Ben Needham disappeared from near his grandparents’ farm house
Says Mrs Grist, Ben’s mum: “Madeleine’s parents are middle class people with important jobs and seemed to have had a publicity machine behind them straight away”
DAILY MIRROR page 15: “WHY STAY IF SHE HAD SOMETHING TO HIDE?”
A pal of Kate McCann says: “She could not tear herself away [from Portugal]. What mother could leave the place where her daughter vanished? …If she had something to hide why would she hang around in Praia da Luz waiting for the police to come knocking on the door?”
We don’t know. Why?
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE POLICE ARREST 80 PAEDOS”
Madeleine McCann does not have her own police force – not yet. But the police working on one case are Portuguese, like the police in her case. It’s an “EXCLUSIVE”
Page 7: “MADDIE COPS RAID PAEDOS” – The Star sees Gerry McCann leaving his home in a car. “STRAIN” reads the caption
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 17: “Madeleine police turn spotlight back on paedophiles”
“Missing children TV hopes to jog patients’ memories” – Ben Needham is missing. Xiao Xiao is missing. Lee Thomas Wedge is missing. Leanna Petrenko is missing. Abigaile Sommerville is missing. Andrew Paul Gosden is missing
THE INDEPENDENT page 24: “Mother in plea to missing son” – Ben Needham is missing
THE TIMES page 11: “Madeleine police return to kidnap theory”
German and Dutch police are believed to have been asked to trace and interview guests staying at the Ocean Club when Madeleine went missing

If Madeleine was down there, is there any reason to think an abductor couldn’t have taken her there to hide ??
she wasn’t abducted.
the reconstruction showed there were too many people about.

You really do say some stupid things but this one is a doozy. You bang on all the time about your ideas of what parental perfection amounts to then you imply the McCanns would forgo proper medical care for their daughter in preference to not looking bad.
I really do wonder if you actually are a parent and not someone who just fantasizes about being one.

there would have been no need to store the body if it was already hidden before the meal.
and if it was stored anywhere, which i doubt, i expect it’ll have been taken to the hotel tip that they kept visiting.

Stig, YES, the nanny– that is where I had read the twins were already gone by the time the police got there. Thank you. But how reliable is the nanny? Didn’t she also insist Robert Murat was lingering in the hallway or something? (And, afterall, she could be paid from the Fund)

A PR man named Mitch
Spun porkies without a hitch
But Alipio Ribeiro
Screwed up his scenario
O jeez, O Gord, what a bitch!

Julie, do you understand where this service area is? Is it directly under the apartment? I assume there’s no access FROM the apartment?
If Madeleine was down there, is there any reason to think an abductor couldn’t have taken her there to hide ?? Perhaps Madeleine was down there while everyone was searching for her.

Crime or sex is the main motivation for a group of friends - several couples just enjoying each other’s jokes - bunk, never happens…..the entire world is filled with reprobate butt chasers…..figures…..and here I’m been just looking for pedolphiles!

Columbo, I disagree. If you aren’t watching a child by the pool and the child falls in and dies, I think the legal system would be more likely to assign the parent with a murder charge.
No way - it would not be murder. It MIGHT be manslaughter but that may even be a stretch. This happens every summer in the U.S. Tragic swimming pool accidental drowings….and parents are usually NOT charged becuase it’s such a tragedy - and keeping the remainder of the family together in such a highly emotional time period - is more important than filing charges against the grieving parents.
I know this is true because I know two different families where this happened.
Do you also recall the Tommy Lee case where he was inside partying w/ his friends and jamming away while his 5 yr old and 3 yr old were hanging by the pool with their friend who was just 5 a the time and who fell in and had accidentally drowned? Yes, Tommy Lee was charged with negligence - but the charges were dropped and the parents of the drowned child settled out of court I believe.
Murder charges are hard to pin on a drowning case…unless someone actually did hold someone under water - but an autopsy can help to uncover if that actually happened. But you are talking about falling into a pool and drowning accidentally when no adults are around…and that is NOT murder.

925 Stevo
I think Stevo has a point here. It is not logical to accept one piece of information and not the other.
On the other hand, we have:
MM died in the apartment in her bed of an overdose
MM fell off the sofa and died
MM fell down the steps and died
She can’t have done all three…..
The press are playing with us…

Then there’s GW’s Nucular. (I make an exception in my “anything goes” approach to language, where GWB is concerned. My linguistic relativism has its limits.)
October 11th, 2007 at 9:05 pm
So let me get this right Mr Stevo, just so I aint in any doubt,Madeleine equals accident equals cover up equals this ongoing circus, all because of an accident, thats a very charitable view Mr Stevo, you should rethink your situation, there are people who can help you,and there aint no such thing as an accident, thats why insurance companies pay out, some one some where down the line is culpable, nice word for blameworthy.
October 11th, 2007 at 9:05 pm
Garth …. well then the PJ must be sorely mistaken in being so interested in the service area that is BELOW the apartment!

crazy sedation/7 kids in room scenario that none of us can really accept because it’s all so bizarre.
course it’s not bizarre.
either this or sex can be the only things holding the tapas 9 together.
they’re doctors.
drugging people to sleep\keep them quiet is what they do.
October 11th, 2007 at 9:03 pm
Good evening to you too Garth! As to the rest …. that’s your opinion of my opinion and you’re quite entitled to that!

…………and it gets worse!
They are concrete floors my dear. Services are usually in the bathroom behind a wall (with a hatch). Normally the only other ’space’ would be where the air conditioner would seat. Also the ceilings are concrete. Sorry.
October 11th, 2007 at 9:03 pm
Even if the body was stored in the “service” area, it doesn’t mean the parents are guilty (although, in my opinion, I feel like they are lying about something, if that involves directly killing their daughter, I don’t know). In the JonBenet case, the body was found in the basement, the parents claimed they didn’t do it, and today, most legal minds believe the parents are innocent. (even though most of the public doesn’t seem to)

Now Stevo you are in West Virginia - I know you hear worser thangs than bunches of water!

I hear Americans say “unbrella” instead of “umbrella”
Or…”eckspecially” instead of “especially”
Worse is “prolly” as in “I’ll prolly go there at the weekend”. Like I said, there’s a lot of illiteracy out there.

906 - Julie
Evening to you.
I’ve been on the forum for the last 5 or so minutes just to see if there was anything new worth talking about, you know, something different from the usual McCann conspiracy theories. And true to form there’s not. So what now?
Well your theories of course. They’re greaaat! as Tony would say. But of course, absolutely bloody rediculous.
October 11th, 2007 at 9:00 pm
My theory of Madeleine’s body being hidden somewhere in the flat came from the reasoning of the parents running up and down checking on the children. There must have been quite a lot of other people around all the time as well …. staff, guests and visitors.
IF something did happen and Madeleine died in the apartment, the chances of them being seen if they tried to move the body that same night would have been very good!
I did not know about the service area underneath the apartment until I read about it today - and apparently the police are very interested in this space! There was also mention quite some time ago that DNA had been found in a place where this person should not have been! The person? …. possibly Madeleine. The place? …. possibly the service area.

The recent interview with the nanny, Charlotte Pennington, is one of the best reports we have IMO. She was on the scene quite quickly when the ruckus started. She only mentions that the twins had already been taken out of their room so there were no children in the bedroom. She mentions no other children in the apartment or near it.

LOL - Well said Columbo!
BTW - Are you really married or is your wife just a figment of your vivid imagination? I say she does not exist….

No, I wasn’t talking about the Huntley bath thing. But a possible accident/death in the tub? Falling and hitting her head, etc. We know she had a bath that night, I hadn’t even considered that, still doesn’t make sense to cover it up though.

There’s two types of accidents.
1. Accidents and…
2. Accidents waiting to happen.
The latter is usually caused through negligence.

OK, so that’s a good point Stevo. What ARE our theories of what happened? What if we all, right now, in 500 words or less, state our own theory of the most likely chain of events surrounding Madeleine’s disappearance. Our Final Answer.
