only when we embrace and celebrate the fact that we are all different will we ever truly find peace and i do not believe it is in our nature.
and climate change has been happening for millions of years - people who blame it on humans have a very human agenda greed and power
we have no control or influance on nature
floods /tidal waves/famine/hurricanes are natural and would continue even if humans didn’t exist
and that is truly AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH mr gore

The worst thing about being a vegetarian is knowing how many field mice get killed by the combine harvesters every year - I rescued one from a field that had three of it’s legs sliced off. I got him to a vet and he lived, I kept him as a pet and he managed to wriggle about quite well. He lived 3 years, so I think he was happy.

Ah, but Pagans never did pretend to be anything other than Heathens etc, and who was that guy who was crucified. Human ’sacrifice ‘has always been with us, funny thing though how the sacrificed and the sacrificer are never the same people.

probably humanity just to annoy the meteor, anyway PC wouldn’t allow for a pretty alright society, what about those who couldn’t , we must be fair to them too……..

Pagans didn’t fight religious wars, but they still had wars over territory and resources, and they did sacrifice each other for a good harvest, which I don’t think I’d volunteer for.
I don’t think our basic human nature can change - but if we learn how to share resources fairly while still leaving scope for a bit of ruthless greed (or else the boredom would kill us), I think we could create a pretty alright society - till a meteor wipes us out.
And slugs are wonderful. They’re very smart and loyal (really, I’m not joking).

Back to the meat options with all the steroids antibiotics and preservatives being pumped into living animals, does anyone really want all that crap in their system?

Karen, thankgoodness you were joking, but a lot aren’t and really do believe Mother Nature /Earth/Deity are out to get us and with a vengeance. But Nature itself does abhor a vacuum, and just loves to start life anyway. But afraid slugs one eyed or two are kept at bay by eggshells, but my dogs are just gorgeous.

Anyway it was Christianity that started all the fights, Pagan life was fairly quiet in that aspect.

Mankind is a bastard, but it COULD change,all things are possible….but then one has ones dogs

I researched that it takes 3 to 5 days to properly digest and rid your body (sparing you the gross bits) of red meat. That alone turned me to chicken and fish. Other than making a surprise visit to the chicken farms and travelling with the salmon fishermen
to make sure our future food is treated as humanely as possible, I don’t see what clout we really have with our providers. Public opinion doesn’t seem to sway them…What I do is eat chicken and fish and use that energy to help other animals that cross my path
(animal rescue, SPCA, etc.) and pray for forgiveness if I’m doing something wrong. I read several years ago that a scientist recorded a vegetable screaming as it was torn from the ground…maybe someday we’ll take synthetic food pills raised in a gleaming laboratory and our consciences will be clear (until we read that the Petrie dish screamed as the pill was torn from its womb)…Sigh.

Albert - we’ve always been cruel to each other. And in my village there has been progress. The last murder was fifty years ago. No one gets mugged and we can still leave our doors open - where as in the past we had constant feuding between the two clans that owned land in the area, we had the English invade, we had the Presbyterians persecuted, then the Catholics, then the Presbyterians by the Anglicans, then the Anglicans, then the Jacobites, then the Presbyterians fell out with each other, then the native Scots and immigrant Irish had fights over strike breaking, then we had Socialist Riots and then Hurrah! we got rich and turned into a suburb.

June, I was joking - although I must say, what do you mean nature has nothing to do with nature?
Okay Mother Nature doesn’t have a consciousness and therefore doesn’t have any intentions - but what I meant to say was, I hate reality. And we can stop flying and stay holed up in our eco-friendly homes all we like - we’re still going to die, there still would plagues, famines, flash-floods, fires, droughts and all the rest. We’re still an animal stuck on a rock in the middle of a solar system that will supernova one day leaving absolutely no trace of the Earth never mind our brief tenancy of it.

Earthquakes and volcanoes are purely to do with the formation of the planet, a complex geological and natural process, and the same with the weather.

I’m a vegetarian because I think animals are cute and I hate killing, but I don’t give a crap about the environment. I hate Mother Nature not only does she trash herself with earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and crappy weather, she kills every last one of us - in fact we’re born purely to multiply and then die - as far as I’m concerned I OWE HER NOTHING!
