Madeleine McCann: When Waiters Attack, Kate McCann Childcare Inc. And Feudal Powers
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – ‘McCANNS OR A FRIEND MUST BE TO BLAME’. Tapas bar waiter’s astonishing attack”
Jose Batista served the McCanns and party on that night Madeleine disappeared. “I did not think she had been taken by an abductor,” says he. “I told them [the police] it had to be one of the family or a friend. It had to be someone close”
Mr Batista is a “crucial eyewitness”
Page 4: “Nanny would have cost just £10” – Batista is standing with his “partner” Maria Fernandes, who also works at the Ocean Club complex. She does not speak. She smiles for the camera. Why is she there? They are holding hands. He says the Tapas 9 did check on their children regularly: “I know that because I often took food to the table and found one of them not there. I would take it back to the table to heat it up. But it was always the men who went to check never the women.” Apart from the time Kate McCann went to check. So not always the men. Jose thought that strange. Why?
Says he: “They left heir children alone. If I had been in that position I certainly wouldn’t have done that.” Maria smiles
“Kate may be a child carer after ruling out GP work” – But would she make living at it?
THE SUN front page: “MADDIE EXCLUSIVE: WHAT WAITERS SAW. Kate left kids alone 3 hours a night”
It’s Jose Baptista, not to be confused with the Express’s Jose Batista, even if this waiter does look very similar and is seen holding hands with his “wife”, also called Maria
Pages 4 and 5: “The men normally checked on kids..Kate only went that one night”
Kate and Gerry are “doctors”. Says Jose: “They left their children alone for up to three hours every night.” Apart from when they all went out as family, with the “cranky” children
Maria speaks: “I definitely remember Madeleine. She was like a little angel, very quiet and good as gold. Just a lovely little blonde girl.” Blonde, you say?
“CAREER PLANS STILL ON HOLD”
DAILY STAR page 7: “holiday waiter describes horror night girl vanished – MADDIE: ‘ONLY PARENTS OR PALS COULD HAVE DONE IT’” – Jose Batista says…
“Kate wants job in child care”
DAILY MAIL front page: “I want to work in child care says Maddie’s mother”
Page 7: “Kate McCann ‘wants a job in child welfare’” – So it is “claimed”. So she ahs “told friends”
“FRIENDS ‘SHARED EIGHT BOTTLES OF WINE A NIGHT’” – Says Jose Baptista. Yes, eight bottles between nine Britons. On holiday. In the sun. Indeed, is that all?
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 9: “Madeleine’s mother ‘to as GP for a child welfare job’”
“One possibility is that she will set up a charity to raise awareness of the extent of child abductions across Europe, and help parents and children who suffer such an ordeal”
Fernando Jose Pinto Montiero, Portugal’s attorney general, says the country’s Ministerio Publico, likened to the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service, is a “feudal power”
THE INDEPENDENT, THE GUARDIAN, THE TIMES and DAILY MIRROR: No Madeleine news today

Edit…. but they are not guilty of murder or whatever other abuse stories this blog has been battering about.
++++++++++++++++++++++
I don’t understand your position? You quite rightly question why people should assume their guilt based upon contradictory and rapidly withdrawn media speculation and yet you make a blanket ‘they’re not guilty’ statement based upon what evidence can I ask?

1173 i’ve got 5 years experience in the waste industry owning my own waste co. I know exactly how to get rid of anything. I also know that people like the mc canns do NOT take waste anywhere apart from leave it by the dumpster. They wouldn’t even say hello to a garbage man, they are ABOVE them.

I think there
is a drug designed for “weekend parents”
professionals who treat their kids as belongings
lacking in protectiveness
has a bonding effect with users
makes your memory hazy
and other users are sympathisers
as when they wake up every morning
thank god it didnt happen to them!!!

That’s different. If you repeatedly put your kids in a situation of jeopardy that would be a better analogy. A one time run back inside is not for your own social pleasure at the expense of your child sat outside is it?

Oh yeah. Forgot.
Here’s a true life story……..cos it happened to me.
My daughter (8 years old) wanted to go to her friends house after her mum phoned and asked if it was ok if she came around. As our home is a little isolated from the main town, we let her go. We told the mother (whom we knew) not to let her play outside in the street as it was in the town centre near main roads etc.
When I went to pick her up she wasn’t there. The mother told me that they had just gone to the shops for her only about 10 mins or so ago. So I went to look for her. I then bumped into someone I knew who said that the two girls had been seen about 3 hours ago walking off down a street about a mile away.
I then had a phone call from another of my daughters friends’ mothers who said that she had been at her house about 2 hours ago. She said she thought she had better phone me to see if she was home as it was starting to get dark by this time. I couldn’t find them both anywhere. Panic set in. I phoned the police straight away but could hardly get the words out as my first thought that entered my head was that they had been picked up by some paedophile. I couldn’t even hold a conversation with the Policewoman on my mobile phone as I wasn’t in a state of panic and feared the worst.
They were both found playing in a nearby park not to far away.
And my point…
Kate McCann, it has been claimed, said on the night of May 3rd ‘they’ve taken her’ or words to that affect.
My point is that I find it quite understandable what she had said under the circumstances. You think the worst. No more than that.

Ian 1147, No on all charges. Personally I think differently to you ,because I am a mum and I am horrified that another parent would be going through such an ordeal. I wouldn’t have ever left my children alone, but I am sure there are things I have done which the McCanns wouldn’t and I might not even be aware of them ,because there were no repercussions thankGod. In other words we are not perfect, none of us.In addition as I have stated apart from the listening / babysitting error what plausible evidence is there to link these people to any other crime? Anyway as I have said after Women’s Hour unless I am very much mistaken , in which case I apologise and will check it you were of a different opinion. In fact did you not say you felt Kate was innocent. In which case what I am saying should make complete sense to you.

If my child is strapped in the back seat of the car in a proper car carrier and I forgot my wallet - and just run inside for a minute - and the car rolls down the driveway into traffic and an accident and my child dies - are you going to say I murdered my child?
I used bad judgment but I certainly had no intention of killing my child. Intention is the key here.
The McCanns did not intend their actions to hurt their child. In no way did they foresee a kidnapper breaking in and stealing Madeleine. I don’t believe it was wise, and I would not be comfortable doing likewise, but if the courts consider their actions as child endangerment is another matter. But murder is a very very far stretch.

Right, so Kate wants a career in child protection (apparently).
That means she’s hitting the books and lecture circuit.
I can hardly wait for her series of parental advice books.
It will be broadly titled (pathetically) “Life Without Madeleine”
Book 1: Life Without Madeleine: Never get so pissed that you can’t count the trees obstructing the view of the unlocked apartment where you left your kids alone.
Book 2: Empowering the young: Your 3 year 11 month old *can* be left to supervise her younger siblings!
Book 3: Getting the dosage right
Book 4: When things go wrong: the all important matter of fund-raising, and garnering powerful support (including private jets)
Book 5: When things really go wrong: using emotion and religion to get the media on your side
Book 6: Getting your career back on track: exploit the masses and go for a career in child protection

Where’s the results of their independent tests. That’s what I’d like to see. If it proves their innocence then why isn’t it splashed across the papers?

Stevo, this is the best link to the blogs in DE. I’m not sure if they will be permanently accessible. If you wish to check, note the times I gave you- there are lots of pages!

The McCanns did not make trips to the rubbish dump until AFTER they moved off the Mark Warner Ocean Club complex and lived at a villa that a friend donated the use of to them. There supposedly was no regular trash pick-up in that area.

I know but I draw the line at ignorant comments directed to my children. If Hannah exists, she’s welcome to my address and a free plane ride to tell me to my face what she cowardly can say in here. I’ll even pay for her medical expenses.

PORTUGAL’S top policeman vowed last night: “We WILL solve the Madeleine McCann case.”
And Alipio Ribeiro said his force still believed the youngster died in her family’s
holiday apartment.
Ribeiro, head of Portugal’s CID, also revealed he is set to re-interview the seven pals who were on holiday with the McCanns when their daughter vanished just days before her fourth birthday.
Letters requesting the interviews will be sent in a few days. Ribeiro said he has an idea of what happened and is confident he will be able to name the killer.
Their strongest theory is that Madeleine died in the apartment at Praia da Luz on May 3.
The police chief stressed that the case did not hinge solely on forensic tests.
But he said he had every faith in the British lab where the tests are being carried out, describing it as one of the best in the world.
And he praised British police as magnificent collaborators.
But yesterday former Metropolitan police chief Lord Stevens, 64, accused Portuguese detectives of conducting a witch hunt against parents Kate and Gerry McCann, both 39, who have been named as formal suspects.
He also accused officers of being too soft on the couple, who should have been relentlessly grilled again and again.
If this had been done, he says the couple may have been cleared by now. Instead, he fears the case may never be solved. But Ribeiro thinks otherwise.
He insisted: “Sooner or later, we are going to have a result.
“In every investigation there is a key moment, a click that clarifies everything and helps you to reach the end. We just haven’t reached that key moment yet.”

I am so sorry to hear about your personal tragedies. But wouldn’t it be smarter just to ignore these posts? Don’t feed the creationists? Please.

It’s peculiar how your offensive comment has spread to hannah (who the hell is hannah?).
The offensive postings directed towards me ALWAYS coincide with you being in here at the same time. Had you not said your original comment perhaps Hannah wouldn’t have said what she did.
Hmmmm.

Two questions for McCann supporters.
If leaving three 2/3 year olds in an unsecured apartment building was safe, why did the parents and friends have to check on the children every 20 minutes? What about the 19 minutes in between the alleged checks? The constant checking is proof that they really didn’t think it was safe. A bit risky is what their actions show about leaving small children in such a predicament.
But then these are people who evidently sedated their children - how safe do you think that is?
I say both practices are obviously unsafe.
The McCann’s were leaving their children to fate and their stupid system blew up in their face and ruined the life of their little daughter. If they cared about anyone, they would be telling people to take better care of their little ones, that they are so precious and vulnerable. Where’s that or has it not yet sunk in? Maybe it never will.

My best wishes for your son. I hope everything goes ok for him and your family. Thanks for your words and like you say, there’s some people in here who haven’t got a clue and are in a different world to us. The good ones in here know who they are…thankfully we’ve got a fair share of them.

1154. Fine. Call it neglect. Neglect stems from an error in judgment. This is still not neglect to a degree that makes me lose all sympathy for the parents, based ONLY on this one fact. It is not a level of neglect that makes me think the parents could also be guilty of murder/coverup of death.
