The oddest thing is that Gerry McCann actually said (when discussing about having another baby with the press on one of his ‘rare’ interviews ;…) he described Madeleine when she was born as and I quote here as “Almost the perfect child” ………………..now if you have children and no matter what disabilities they have your child, to you, is perfect!

1328 - Annie - I remember the Management also said to the press that they received a complaint from the woman and knocked on the McCanns door offering them use of their walky talkies - 2 staff witnessed this - I guess that was also made up?
No wonder it’s so hard to tell what is truth and what are lies. We are fed daily crap.

The Police are just waiting to nail them. Lull the McCanns in to a false sens eof security, let them talk amongst themselves, become lax. Issue a few red herrings to promote conversation. Collate scientific evidence, electronic recordings/emails, seperate them in interview rooms, ask questions based on collated evidence. Put them in the cells for a while… sooner or later one of them will talk when they realise how rotten it is to be jailed. These people like to think they are clever, that;s their downfall. They will tell the same story because they’ve had time to rehearse it. But as we all know, no two statements will really be the same unless its rehearsed. The statements will have been rehearsed on the evidence the Tapas gang think the police have got.
The police will throw in a few variables, which w ill throw them, then the statements become inconsistent again. Then, one of them will squeal like a pig

If Madeleine is found by some miracle the public will still not like the parents.
They never gave her a message of love or hope in all the TV interviews they gave.
They never physically searched for her on TV - even though they were followed everywhere supposedly - no-one showed them searching - just jogging or having PR moments on the beach.
Yet when you read statments by other staff - they all mention their physical search - how they physically did things until they were worn out. All this while the McCanns went to Church to pray.
No the public will not change their opinion of the McCanns even if they are not involved. They give a strong message out the to the cosmos that they are fighting to keep themselves out of jail and that they are fighting to keep people searching for a living child.
The message that they do not give out but should be is one of overwhelming love and concern for their child.

There is also some evidence suggesting CHARGE syndrome (which is different but appears to display some similar symptoms) . From Wikipedia:
# C - Coloboma of the eye, central nervous system anomalies
# H - Heart defects
# A - Atresia of the choanae
# R - Retardation of growth and/or development
# G - Genital and/or urinary defects (Hypogonadism)
# E - Ear anomalies and/or deafness
As well as the coloboma, It is noted that Madeleine had stunted growth - 90cm, at age 4 is below the bottom percentile for height at that age; and the absence of any recordings of the child speaking has been cited as odd, and suggesting that she could not speak. Her height can be found on a missing persons web page (I think the Portuguese police) - you could Google this. It is not to be found on the official “find Madeleine” website, which does not give her height (or any other details than her age).

The police have not announced that Madeleine is dead nor have her parents or their spokesman to my knowledge – I would wait until the police (credible source) make a formal announcement of her death if I were you.

The McCanns say they checked about every half hour. The waiter says they always checked about every 20 minutes. He adds that it would be easy for a would-be kidnapper to know their movements because their pattern was the same each night.
We do not know the timeline on the night but if what we have heard and read is correct :
They arrive at tapas bar around 8.40pm
GM checks at 9.05pm
GM bumps into Wilkins on his way out. (Wilkins is not one of their friends but a bloke GM had played tennis with at some time.) He chats with W for a few minutes, then goes back to tapas bar.
Matthew Oldfield checks at 9.30pm
Kate checks at 10.00pm
That seems to fit with what everyone said happened. It’s irrelevant whether it was the Dads or Mums who checked, as far as I’m concerned.
Of course I accept that we only have newspaper reports and they are usually not to be trusted anyway.

Maria, I have read this defence of yours of the McCanns over and over. It is so boring and superficial. Have you any children? If you have then you will know that anything can happen to a small child if left alone for more than five minutes. Assuming they weren’t drugged - as the McCanns have so strenuously denied that they were - then they were simply asleep before the McCanns left to go out to dine — on some evenings several miles away. A sleeping child can wake at any moment and if he/she does and finds him/herself alone, in a dark apartment, with a hard tiled floor, with an open door, with all sorts of dangerous things around (because everything’s dangerous in the hands of a little child) —-then let your imagination do the rest.
I understand, as you do I imagine, that the ‘listening’ service the Mccanns set up was simply that at best (or perhaps something else at worst at which the mind boggles). Mr. McCann, by his own admission said that he ‘checked’ the children by going into the apartment and seeing Madeleine’s bed empty. He then simply ‘assumed’ she’d toddled off into his bedroom, BUT HE DIDN’T BOTHER TO LOOK FOR HER.
What sort of parental ‘listening service’ is this?
I think the facts speak for themselves. If the children were left asleep then the parents, DOCTORS no less, must have known that absolutely any accident could happen to them in five minutes let alone twenty. The only way the parents could ’safely’ leave their children was to drug them otherwise they couldn’t be guaranteed to sleep. And I think this is what they did. The so-called ‘listening service’ set up by them was either perfunctory listening outside to see if one of them had awoken from the drugging, or it was something else which is too awful to contemplate (remember, only the men did the ‘listening’).
This isn’t just a simple “mistake that anyone could make” - another howler of yours in a previous post. This is deliberate pre-planned ….what? We don’t know yet, but for sure, the McCanns are not ‘just like everyone else’ or if they are, then there’s an awful lot of monsters around.

|Maria as I understand it you are saying that the children were NOT left alone for more than 20-30 mins at a time! Were you there - did you see that?
The fact is that the children were on their own in a room without the presence of an adult for over 3 hours! As Gerry the McCann said - he didn’t go in the room when recently admitting that ’someone may have been hiding in the room’! Responsible parent? Would you leave 3 children under the age of 4 and pop over the pub for a drink?
BTW the mark Warner complex offers a full service for parents including sitting and monitored devices! The fact that those sitters are the same crech workers they were happy to leave the twins with day after day - it seems a bit odd to just bugger off and leave such small children - and rely on you and your mates to pop in every so often to check up on them!
If you believe that the children would not have been removed then explain why when, in the past a feckless parent has taken a holiday and left her 16 year old daughter looking after a younger sibling they have been charged with child neglect on their return and the child has been taken into care? But you are speaking of Madeleine radiating joy - so where is she now? As for the other children totally at ease with their parents - when??? How often do you actually SEE these parents with their children? How many pics of Madeleine do you see with either her parents or her siblings?
You made a comment about the McCanns (safely saying) would not leave their children again …. BUT THEY DID ON THIER CURIOUS EUROPEAN TOUR?

It is almost as if they sent their male friend to check on her after Gerry to raise an alarm and when he didn’t do that Kate got up instead.
The reason I say this is because they kept to a pattern and only broke it when Kate raised the alarm by getting up wheras for 4 nights in a row only the men had got up - why anyway? Is it in case a woman was attacked in the dark allyway? Was it as safe as they made us believe?
And what happened to the neighbour who is adamant that they did not check on her at all on a previous night - she was crying and this woman told the managment. Her statment conflicts with the barmans statement doesn’t it?
Actually everyones statment conflicts with each others and that is the main problem here. Surely they must have had watches or else how would they have known to check every 20 minutes like clockwork?

When I heard/read Kate had said the family home held too many bad memories, my back was up instantly. Thankfully I have not lost one of my kids but assuming I had, I do believe being close to my childs things/belongings would give me comfort/some perverse need to be near my missing child.
Kate didn’t want to go ‘home’, seems strange to me and quite possibly there more to thie than meets the paparazi.

1302 Brandon, all I can really say with any confidence is that the McCann’s know more than they are telling. This much us aparerently obvious. The fact they are GP’s could suggest they used sedation to which there was adverse reaction. Explaining in autopsy how there are chemicals in the childs blood would mean dismissal and imprisonment. There are of course the possibilities that madeleine may have been abused, which would show up during autopsy. I really wouldn’t like to make allegations of that nature because it’s unsavoury, but I wouldn’t discount the possibility. Paedophiles come in all shapes and sizes from all walks of life. Either way, the body disappeared to stop autopsy revelaing evidence which would be damning for the McCanns.

I think Kate could not bear to go back home without Madeleine. I think to actually go back to the home without her was an admission of defeat, an acceptance that she might never come back. Imagine going into her bedroom etc.
I think while they were in Portugal it must have felt more like an ongoing investigation and almost as if the child could come back at any time. It seems to have been because of K’s feelings about this that they stayed on right up to the end of the lease on the villa instead of coming home earlier which was what GM and some of the other family members thought would be best.

Portugal has been Britain’s oldest ally for 600 years since the Treaty of Windsor in 1386. This created an alliance between Portugal and England that remains in effect to this day - a pact of mutual alliance which has been tested quite a number of times in the 18th century and during the last war when Portugal supported us not the Axis powers. Portugal also fought on our side in WW1 in accordance with the Treaty.
I wonder whether this Treaty will be invoked, or need to be, in the McCann case? So far Portugal has been treated like a pariah by our crazily xenophobic country under its current masters. Perhaps small things like alliances, honour, respect, indeed history, don’t matter any more in the country of the blind where the one-eyed man is King.

Just wanted to say that it was nice to read that Kate’s mother has given a message directly to Madeleine ‘ stay strong and we’ll get you home’ or words similar.
Since her Mum and Dad never looked directly into the camera to give her words of hope and encouragment - if Madeleine is alive she will have been watching her parents argue with the Media and Police and will be wondering ‘what about me?’
So I was relieved that her Grandmother has said these words. It’s only a pity that Madeleine cannot yet read or go on-line so she will probably never know that Grannie cared - that is if she is still alive. It can’t be ruled out - there is a possibility that the McCanns really have a bad memory and are just naturally pompous and arrogant and cold - hearted on camera. In which case her application for child welfare officer will be highly considered!
