Madeleine McCann: When Waiters Attack, Kate McCann Childcare Inc. And Feudal Powers
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – ‘McCANNS OR A FRIEND MUST BE TO BLAME’. Tapas bar waiter’s astonishing attack”
Jose Batista served the McCanns and party on that night Madeleine disappeared. “I did not think she had been taken by an abductor,” says he. “I told them [the police] it had to be one of the family or a friend. It had to be someone close”
Mr Batista is a “crucial eyewitness”
Page 4: “Nanny would have cost just £10” – Batista is standing with his “partner” Maria Fernandes, who also works at the Ocean Club complex. She does not speak. She smiles for the camera. Why is she there? They are holding hands. He says the Tapas 9 did check on their children regularly: “I know that because I often took food to the table and found one of them not there. I would take it back to the table to heat it up. But it was always the men who went to check never the women.” Apart from the time Kate McCann went to check. So not always the men. Jose thought that strange. Why?
Says he: “They left heir children alone. If I had been in that position I certainly wouldn’t have done that.” Maria smiles
“Kate may be a child carer after ruling out GP work” – But would she make living at it?
THE SUN front page: “MADDIE EXCLUSIVE: WHAT WAITERS SAW. Kate left kids alone 3 hours a night”
It’s Jose Baptista, not to be confused with the Express’s Jose Batista, even if this waiter does look very similar and is seen holding hands with his “wife”, also called Maria
Pages 4 and 5: “The men normally checked on kids..Kate only went that one night”
Kate and Gerry are “doctors”. Says Jose: “They left their children alone for up to three hours every night.” Apart from when they all went out as family, with the “cranky” children
Maria speaks: “I definitely remember Madeleine. She was like a little angel, very quiet and good as gold. Just a lovely little blonde girl.” Blonde, you say?
“CAREER PLANS STILL ON HOLD”
DAILY STAR page 7: “holiday waiter describes horror night girl vanished – MADDIE: ‘ONLY PARENTS OR PALS COULD HAVE DONE IT’” – Jose Batista says…
“Kate wants job in child care”
DAILY MAIL front page: “I want to work in child care says Maddie’s mother”
Page 7: “Kate McCann ‘wants a job in child welfare’” – So it is “claimed”. So she ahs “told friends”
“FRIENDS ‘SHARED EIGHT BOTTLES OF WINE A NIGHT’” – Says Jose Baptista. Yes, eight bottles between nine Britons. On holiday. In the sun. Indeed, is that all?
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 9: “Madeleine’s mother ‘to as GP for a child welfare job’”
“One possibility is that she will set up a charity to raise awareness of the extent of child abductions across Europe, and help parents and children who suffer such an ordeal”
Fernando Jose Pinto Montiero, Portugal’s attorney general, says the country’s Ministerio Publico, likened to the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service, is a “feudal power”
THE INDEPENDENT, THE GUARDIAN, THE TIMES and DAILY MIRROR: No Madeleine news today

“Madeleine is out there somewhere! If it hadn’t been for some observant member of the public, Elizabeth might never have been rescued.” That’s right. And the whole world knows about Madeleine…yet the sightings all have been false. It’s interesting that you insist Madeleine is alive, since the McCanns themselves have NEVER seemed like they really believe she’s alive. I think that’s because they know for a fact she’s dead.

1349 Maria says:
“If I am boring and superficial, please excuse me if I say you seem one very, very angry lady in these posts, to use a mild adjective. I am very sorry.”
===========
Yes, you are right. I am angry when I read posts like yours because there are too many sanctimonious apologists and do-gooders around who actually do a great deal of harm by waffling, fence-sitting and never taking a stand, thus allowing and endorsing bad practices. If you have read all my posts, as you say you have, then you will also have noted that I am not always angry. Far from it. And you appear to have read my book - I thank you for your compliment.
Can I refer you to my post 1300? I would sincerely like to hear your views on it because I think that you may have to come off your fence and actually stick your neck out. I should like that.

Life is more precious than any one person. A priest is just another sentinel being. When someone breaks the law resulting in the death of another, the law of the land must prevail. Even in the bible it says that laws must be obeyed. I don’t accept the catholic churches stance on this issue however it’s not a personal matter between us.

I didn’t click on your blue name! When mine was blue, if you clicked on it my password appeared. Batman just meant that anyone could do that and see my password. I changed my password (not that anyone would want to impersonate boring and superficial me!) and then simply cleared it from the website space under my email addy when posting.
Don’t ask me how it works but now I just leave that space blank each time.
Not sure if that’s what’s happening with yours. Looks very nice in blue anyway!
Night!

1353 - Andrew - I did consider that but she had a quiet word with my mother and told her that she would let out a few more secrets about me , my mum and sister to my Dad and his new family if we said anything to the Doctor.
She didn’t have anything on me or my mum but my sister convinced us to keep quiet for some reason…lol
She did get the sack eventually when she gossiped about the wrong person!
Small villages eh!

Andrew I am so sorry to tell you this but a priest does have a vow of silence on confession. He cannot at any time relate anything to anyone told to him during confession! He also ‘acts’ as God (I know please don’t go on at me about this) with penance and forgiveness of sins!
BTW I work for a Catholic church ………. !

1310 - You forget to mention that the police had taken another guy in for questioning and that he died three days before he was due in court for her abduction ‘a crime he never committed’ and that Elizabeth’s sister only mentioned this other man’s name months later. I’m sure if Madeleine’s brother and sister had been awake and older then they too might have given the police a statement. Anyway you’re missing the point! Madeleine is out there somewhere! If it hadn’t been for some observant member of the public, Elizabeth might never have been rescued.

1331 Stickler
Madeleine was only 1 inch below the ‘average height’ for her age group - but the age group is based on an average and not indications of parents height and also geneology!

Otto Kernberg described malignant narcissism as a syndrome characterized by a narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), antisocial features, paranoid traits, and ego-syntonic aggression. Some also may find an absence of conscience, a psychological need for power, and a sense of importance (grandiosity). Pollock wrote: “The malignant narcissist is presented as pathologically grandiose, lacking in conscience and behavioral regulation with characteristic demonstrations of joyful cruelty and sadism.”[1] Kernberg claimed that malignant narcissism should be considered part of a spectrum of pathological narcissism, which saw as ranging from the Cleckley’s antisocial character (today’s psychopath) at the high end of severity, to malignant narcissism, to NPD at the low end.[2]
Kernberg wrote that malignant narcissism can be differentiated from psychopathy because of the malignant narcissists’ capacity to internalize “both aggressive and idealized superego precursors, leading to the idealization of the aggressive, sadistic features of the pathological grandiose self of these patients.”[3] According to Kernberg, the psychopaths’ paranoid stance against external influences makes them unwilling to internalize even the values of the “aggressor”, while malignant narcissists “have the capacity to admire powerful people, and can depend on sadistic and powerful but reliable parental images.” Malignant narcissists, in contrast to psychopaths, are also said to be capable of developing “some identification with other powerful idealized figures as part of a cohesive ‘gang’ … which permits at least some loyalty and good object relations to be internalized.”
Malignant narcissism is highlighted as a key area when it comes to the study of mass, sexual, and serial murder.[4][5]

1347 - Andrew - Well when I was 17 I went on the pill and my doctor took a vow of silence.
Unfortunately the receptionist at the surgery was my auntie and when I got home my Dad knew all about it.

I have children and I would never, ever leave them unsupervised and out of earshot in a strange place. Never. I think I’ve said that many times.
I was unaware that GM said he saw Madeleine’s bed empty and ignored it. (Actually, he’d be absolutely crackers to say such a thing, even if it were true.) I thought he said he saw the bedroom door ajar and was surprised because he thought they’d left it closed. He then just assumed Madeleine must have gone to get a drink or to the toilet before getting back into bed and had left the door open when she did so. I certainly didn’t know he hadn’t seen her in bed. I definitely thought he had seen her.
Neither of us knows because neither of us (I assume?) have seen his statement to the police.
I did read that Matthew Oldfield, at 9.30pm, didn’t actually far enough into the room to have a view of her bed, maybe only the twins’.
As I’ve said before, you can simply skip my boring and superficial posts!! No compulsion to read them. I skip lots of posts! I don’t skip yours as a rule because they fascinate me being from the same pen as your very sensitive book. (I only know one of them.)
If I am boring and superficial, please excuse me if I say you seem one very, very angry lady in these posts, to use a mild adjective. I am very sorry.
Stephanie
No, I would not leave my children out of earshot. I have always been very surprised that they chose to do this, but probably not nearly as sorry as they must be. I would take it in turns with my husband to be in the apartment with them and swap over half way to go to the restaurant, I think. I would never use a listening service anyway, at least I don’t think I would. I certainly wouldn’t keep them up all hours either and I wouldn’t leave them in an evening/night creche. I’d want them in bed but would make sure one of us was in the apartment with them. Otherwise I’d have been checking every five minutes!
Everyone is different. Some people keep their kids up late, especially in countries which have a siesta.

I didn’t realise just how posh Kate was until I heard her mother saying ‘one’ instead of I.
If she uses the royal ‘we’ you will know why they have had so much help….lol

Regarding the Priest, the oath they take is similar to that of a Doctor. I spoke to my doctor once about something illegal, he said “I won’t tell them, but if it was murder or something like that, i would” So, bearing that in mind… the priest is under obligation to tell the police. You cannot be party to life being taken, and covering it up with silence. The Laws of the land are there to protect, and respect life. The priest should not play “god” and indeed he kn ows this. The priest can in no way be held responsible for other peoples crimes against life. It’s his obligation to tell what he knows

Wether my child had autism or any other long term condition, would that really releive one of ones parenting responsibilities????
We can all speculate till the cows come home and we may have to face the reality that we may never get to the bottom of this. I would however like the vatican to make some sort of statement as to what their priest was told and how he interpreted it? Priests are clever, perceptive human beings and he must have had some intuitive feelings for what he listened to these people say….Priests are taught to council and often have abilities that far exceed psychologists. Maybe the police might go down that route?????
Another avenue of investigation may be the relationship between either Jerry and his parents, or / and Kate and her parents? Is there an inherant narcissistic trait in either or both families? I think Kate’s mum sounds a little like she may have this tendancy??? What do you think?
October 24th, 2007 at 1:12 am
Brandon, that’s sounding a bit like pre-meditated murder slightly… or at least it’s a scary option the police have got to suggest
