Madeleine McCann: When Waiters Attack, Kate McCann Childcare Inc. And Feudal Powers
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – ‘McCANNS OR A FRIEND MUST BE TO BLAME’. Tapas bar waiter’s astonishing attack”
Jose Batista served the McCanns and party on that night Madeleine disappeared. “I did not think she had been taken by an abductor,” says he. “I told them [the police] it had to be one of the family or a friend. It had to be someone close”
Mr Batista is a “crucial eyewitness”
Page 4: “Nanny would have cost just £10” – Batista is standing with his “partner” Maria Fernandes, who also works at the Ocean Club complex. She does not speak. She smiles for the camera. Why is she there? They are holding hands. He says the Tapas 9 did check on their children regularly: “I know that because I often took food to the table and found one of them not there. I would take it back to the table to heat it up. But it was always the men who went to check never the women.” Apart from the time Kate McCann went to check. So not always the men. Jose thought that strange. Why?
Says he: “They left heir children alone. If I had been in that position I certainly wouldn’t have done that.” Maria smiles
“Kate may be a child carer after ruling out GP work” – But would she make living at it?
THE SUN front page: “MADDIE EXCLUSIVE: WHAT WAITERS SAW. Kate left kids alone 3 hours a night”
It’s Jose Baptista, not to be confused with the Express’s Jose Batista, even if this waiter does look very similar and is seen holding hands with his “wife”, also called Maria
Pages 4 and 5: “The men normally checked on kids..Kate only went that one night”
Kate and Gerry are “doctors”. Says Jose: “They left their children alone for up to three hours every night.” Apart from when they all went out as family, with the “cranky” children
Maria speaks: “I definitely remember Madeleine. She was like a little angel, very quiet and good as gold. Just a lovely little blonde girl.” Blonde, you say?
“CAREER PLANS STILL ON HOLD”
DAILY STAR page 7: “holiday waiter describes horror night girl vanished – MADDIE: ‘ONLY PARENTS OR PALS COULD HAVE DONE IT’” – Jose Batista says…
“Kate wants job in child care”
DAILY MAIL front page: “I want to work in child care says Maddie’s mother”
Page 7: “Kate McCann ‘wants a job in child welfare’” – So it is “claimed”. So she ahs “told friends”
“FRIENDS ‘SHARED EIGHT BOTTLES OF WINE A NIGHT’” – Says Jose Baptista. Yes, eight bottles between nine Britons. On holiday. In the sun. Indeed, is that all?
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 9: “Madeleine’s mother ‘to as GP for a child welfare job’”
“One possibility is that she will set up a charity to raise awareness of the extent of child abductions across Europe, and help parents and children who suffer such an ordeal”
Fernando Jose Pinto Montiero, Portugal’s attorney general, says the country’s Ministerio Publico, likened to the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service, is a “feudal power”

Momo,
I too have trouble understanding madness - but this forum, taken in regular, manageable doses, is affording me great insights into just how widespread, and, seemingly, contagious it is

Do you think this is a strange way to speak to your Mother in law just a “Madeleine has been abducted from her bed.”
October 23rd, 2007 at 3:05 pm
spot on Mike!
Just had the Jehova’s Witnesses around. Lovely people. But they don’t get the case solved either. And with their connections, one should think they were closer to the truth than anyone else.

I think you’re right. Some people are just insane, that is what most people don’t understand. And why they are interested in cases like Madeleines. We want to understand, but most of us can’t understand madness. I know I can’t.

A “Spinners” album cover featuring Team McC ?
October 23rd, 2007 at 3:00 pm
Personally, I would take the “open-minded” opinions of those seeking to excuse the McC’s from any suggestion of guilt a little more seriously if they were as “open-minded” about the competence of the PJ as they claim to be about the guilt/non-guilt of the McC’s.
It’s all a little too “pot and kettle” imo.

Carmen,
Don’t care where you live, you can’t distinguish Carmen from Carman. That tells me all I need to know…
Michael,
What are you, the Thought Police? Stick with the tabloids, they hold as much information as you can handle.
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:56 pm
Kate spoke for the fist time – “I did want to go and look for Maddie myself – and we’ve been working really hard every day – the first 48 hrs were the most difficult we were almost non-functioning to begin with – but the support and strength from others has really helped – we may not have been physically searching but we have been very busy.”

CARMEN, get my coat too please, see ya

Michael, Michael. I know what you are saying mate.
I’m also not taking sides and I’m a logical kinda guy. But you should take it easy and not get to hot and bothered about this anti-McCann feeling.
The PJ has 8 months from naming them arguidos - after which they’ll have to open up the files. After those 8 months either they charge the McCanns or they drop the status of “arguidos”.
At that time - if not before - some of us will probably regret what we have been saying in this forum. But until then, let’s keep those theories and counter-theories going. It’s a lot more amusing than coming here calling posters sad sods and quoting pseudo-detectives as experts.

Harry Hind Sight Says:
“Is speculating that MM may suffer from a genetic disorder not in questionable taste”
Talking about a possible genetic defect is not of questionable taste. Your argument somehow turns against you. However…
“I do not mean to be critical, but where is this line of enquiry leading?”
This is also my question.
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:42 pm
Ian,
“Also, I have always found people - ordinary people - with a little common sense much cleverer than many of these so called experts”
Is your faith in the PJ based on their demonstrated lack of expertise, or is your point that it is only here in Blighty that the people at the top are donkeys promoted above their ability through contacts, whilst the real talent resides in the ranks. Whereas in Portugal the talent rises automatically to the top.
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:42 pm
none of these experts have the evidence
same as us
the PJs do and they think they did it
I have read thousands of true crime stories, books on psychology,
how the mind works and have superb instincts on people
from what I’ve seen and heard from their own mouths is evidence they are mad
and not what I read in the tabloids
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:41 pm
Michael, you believe in “british experts” who did not have access to the file of evidence compiled against the McCanns (to make them arguidos), and some of which are actually paid by the McCanns (like Lord Stevens).
But you choose not to believe in the legitimate suspicions of the Portuguese police force who are carrying out the investigation. You choose also not to believe the british police who called in the sniffer dogs (specialised in cadaver scent) - that was surely because the british police thinks she was abducted.
And you brilliantly conclude by qualifying yourself as “logical folk”.
Well done - you do have entertainment value - welcome to the forum!!!

Michael,
This place is obviously not for you.

(additional detail to previous post about Brian Kennedy x 2)
In other words, my suspicion is that, after announcing they would not use the Search fund money to pay for legal expenses, they then set up a separate Legal fund. Branson donates into this latter fund, and then seeks out other donators. The first guy he comes up with is Brian Kennedy. Brian Kennedy (Kate’s uncle) is a director of the Search fund, eligible to receive money from it , if non-family directors vote to do so.
So if they are the same, you could have Brian Kennedy being the one who sought out Branson, who then supposedly seeks out Brian Kennedy. Brian Kennedy could receive money from the Search fund and use it to pay back Branson and himself. In other words, a tricky way of transferring money from one fund to the other, just after announcing that (due to public outrage) they would not do so.

This is about exploring theories, and which is the most plausible.
I’m positive the truth will come out.
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:38 pm
431, Peter O,
I think those of us here who really are parents (many I doubt ;( ), realise how children grow, sometimes in sudden spurts. A just four year old will be a lot smaller than one who is nearly five. Mine are nearly 6ft now and were close to M’s height at just four.

“There are crime experts, ppl who worked at Scotland Yard for decades, who have stated they do not believe the McCanns to be guilty of killing their own child”
what!……..all these totally ‘independant’ experts with no vested interests?…….. we should ‘believe’ them.
Unfortunately in most intances their ‘reputations go before them’.
Personally I would be less likely to take notice of their ’slanted opinions’ than of those of the magpie that regularly sits chatting away in the apple tree in my garden.

Ian Says:
“Cant do that, it would be rejected if it didnt include abduction or in any way challenged their holy self’s.”
But we have amongst others the allegation that “it happened” the day before. So a completely plausible scenario would be to put the abduction plot on May 2nd, but then allow Maddie somehow to escape in the evening of May 3rd, which would give room for the manslaughter plot.
