Madeleine McCann: When Waiters Attack, Kate McCann Childcare Inc. And Feudal Powers
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – ‘McCANNS OR A FRIEND MUST BE TO BLAME’. Tapas bar waiter’s astonishing attack”
Jose Batista served the McCanns and party on that night Madeleine disappeared. “I did not think she had been taken by an abductor,” says he. “I told them [the police] it had to be one of the family or a friend. It had to be someone close”
Mr Batista is a “crucial eyewitness”
Page 4: “Nanny would have cost just £10” – Batista is standing with his “partner” Maria Fernandes, who also works at the Ocean Club complex. She does not speak. She smiles for the camera. Why is she there? They are holding hands. He says the Tapas 9 did check on their children regularly: “I know that because I often took food to the table and found one of them not there. I would take it back to the table to heat it up. But it was always the men who went to check never the women.” Apart from the time Kate McCann went to check. So not always the men. Jose thought that strange. Why?
Says he: “They left heir children alone. If I had been in that position I certainly wouldn’t have done that.” Maria smiles
“Kate may be a child carer after ruling out GP work” – But would she make living at it?
THE SUN front page: “MADDIE EXCLUSIVE: WHAT WAITERS SAW. Kate left kids alone 3 hours a night”
It’s Jose Baptista, not to be confused with the Express’s Jose Batista, even if this waiter does look very similar and is seen holding hands with his “wife”, also called Maria
Pages 4 and 5: “The men normally checked on kids..Kate only went that one night”
Kate and Gerry are “doctors”. Says Jose: “They left their children alone for up to three hours every night.” Apart from when they all went out as family, with the “cranky” children
Maria speaks: “I definitely remember Madeleine. She was like a little angel, very quiet and good as gold. Just a lovely little blonde girl.” Blonde, you say?
“CAREER PLANS STILL ON HOLD”
DAILY STAR page 7: “holiday waiter describes horror night girl vanished – MADDIE: ‘ONLY PARENTS OR PALS COULD HAVE DONE IT’” – Jose Batista says…
“Kate wants job in child care”
DAILY MAIL front page: “I want to work in child care says Maddie’s mother”
Page 7: “Kate McCann ‘wants a job in child welfare’” – So it is “claimed”. So she ahs “told friends”
“FRIENDS ‘SHARED EIGHT BOTTLES OF WINE A NIGHT’” – Says Jose Baptista. Yes, eight bottles between nine Britons. On holiday. In the sun. Indeed, is that all?
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 9: “Madeleine’s mother ‘to as GP for a child welfare job’”
“One possibility is that she will set up a charity to raise awareness of the extent of child abductions across Europe, and help parents and children who suffer such an ordeal”
Fernando Jose Pinto Montiero, Portugal’s attorney general, says the country’s Ministerio Publico, likened to the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service, is a “feudal power”

It’s interesting. I’m sure someone out there knows the truth.
I read that the double glazing magnate “Brian Kennedy” lives in Congleton but spent time in Scotland. Congleton is a posh south Manchester area and is obviously fairly close to Liverpool where the Healy’s live. It’s probably not worth speculating on because it’s a simple answer as to whether he is or isn’t the same person. How can we find out? Perhaps the Liverpool Echo will know. Do they have a website?

585, Stevo,
I suppose some people are just too lazy to look up the characteristics of Turner’s Syndrome for themselves.
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:53 pm
Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Characterised by a pervasive pattern of grandiosity and self-importance, need for admiration, and lack of empathy, people with narcissistic personality disorder overestimate their abilities and inflate their accomplishments, often appearing boastful and pretentious, whilst correspondingly underestimating and devaluing the achievements and accomplishments of others.
I am not sure that NPD sounds that much like the McCanns.
Though some may say that it sounds like Old Harry Hind Sight - but therein lies the paradox - those with NSP never, I mean never, recognise it in themselves, or so I am told

Mods & Admin,
please delete my comment about the keys.
I misread Peter Mac and thought he meant they left them behind when they left Portugal, not when they went out to dine.

One of the questions people have asked me is “how do you identify Turner’s Syndrome?”
The answer is because when you see your child eating food normally and they don’t grow and are significantly petite, you can either ignore it or do something about it. It’s that simple. There are thousands of girls out there who won’t be able to have children and are smaller in height than average and they find out late in life they have Turner’s Syndrome. In other words, if the parents aren’t bothered about finding out and the child gets past the age when you stop growing, it’s too late to do anything about it. Turner’s Syndrome only affects girls anyway, so having a short boy is irrelevant. 10% of the population has some genetic disorder but most don’t know about it.

I think that was a mistake on the reporter’s part. Later on in the article, Mrs. Healy is reported to have said that she’s been telling Kate that she will see Madeleine again some day–she’ll be all right (paraphrasing). So I think the initial sentence should have been worded to mean the positive, not negative–that Mrs. Healy was having difficulty continuing to tell Kate that Maddie would be found alive.
I had the same reaction as you did when I read that sentence.

559, Stevo,
Here is the Strongwood (autism) link.
From the photos, she obviously had none of the features of Turner’s, besides a coloboma.

I know. I think the DNA tests are going to be very interesting when all this info come out. It’s a bold move for a newspaper to tell Gerry McCann to “bring it on” if he considers suing for the paternity allegations.

-the third way.
Just reading in the posts coming in in the last hour.
Only one person has responded to what we are saying. Anonymous the first.
The rest they keep going on and on about the same thing, over and over. How many bottles of wine etc.
The only thing that makes sense is that
“only the men checked on the kids that night - according to the waiter”
Mother checks up at 10 and finds her gone.
Of course she looked so calm and elegant. At that moment in time, she lost her mind.
So who did it?
The four little piggies.
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:45 pm
Come to think of it..There really is not one piece of evidence against the Mccanns..Most of the rumors/specuation we’ve read is False..Even Pj themselves have admitted to that..So if we read “Kate confessed: She killed Maddie” We will all believe that….and 80% of what we read is false…Journalists..Especially in Portugal need to make $$$ and this is a great way of doing that!!!

….and did they also leave big “pointing finger” signs to show the abductor/thief where to look to save them the trouble of hunting around ? because they might just as well have done ….. !!
I despair !! they are obviously criminal in one respect at least, criminally stupid !!

Anon1st,
I can understand how the theory has come about; my own theory isn’t particularly pretty, but the leap from NPD to The Beast is too far for me!

What I’d like to see is the media putting up money for their own independent tests to help the McCanns. For instance, how about the Mirror or the Sun paying a lab to have sedative tests done? Not only would that be a big scoop for the paper but it would go some way to repairing their credibility of reporting the Madeleine case.
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:43 pm
IMO..Pj has really degrated themselves by saying that they feel they are not competent enough for this type of case…I wonder if this is just another one of those things we read about and then it turns out that they really didn’t claim that!!!

I agree it is sick to suggest a child has something wrong with them. I keep saying this. But being short in height is a factual observation and is neither good or bad - it is just an observation.
The rule of thumb for adult height is that you will be twice the height you were at age 3.
As we don’t know Madeleine’s height at age 3 we can’t know or guess that she would be 5′6″ with any more reliability than guessing any other height.

Tip for the parents - you want your reputations back, a long period of public remorse comes first, the offshore defence stops, the PR goes home, you shut up your blabbermouth family, you stand at your own gate and tell the world that you got plenty of things wrong, were under huge stress, regret how you behaved at the finish in Portugal, appreciate that discrediting everyone and everything in sight is unseemly, that you were probably looking arrogant, and that - from start to now - you got caught up in what PR wanted and lost sight of the what matters most to you in the world, which is finding Madeleine. If the police want to talk, that can happen tomorrow, without lawyers, without issue - you are innocent but you have made many mistakes. Now, please, let’s start the hunt for Madeleine over again. Thank you. Sorry. You have no idea how awful this all is.
Ah.
Pigs just flew over this house.

Or they didn’t because the “intruder” was one of them and had a key.

426 Harry Hind Sight
There is a world of difference between me explaining what Turner’s Syndrome is from first hand knowledge and a poster in here making a sarcastic and abusive comment to me about my own daughter. I have pointed out how and why people have caught on to a line of discussion about autism when talking about Madeleine but I have always defended the McCanns and any parent in that you can’t accuse or “work out” from scant information that an individual may or may not have a genetic disorder.
I agree with you Harry. It is in bad taste to do so. None of us know anything about Madeleine other than these facts:
1. She cried for 18 hours non-stop as a baby(Kate McCann’s story)
2. She is 90cm tall.
3. She is 4 years old.
4. She has a rare disorder - the eye coloboma.
An unsubstantiated story claims she has autism.

She is someone else’s child who LOOKS LIKE Madeleine, (according to other people here), in a buggy with Amelie. Sean is walking beside with Kate & Gerry McCann.
The photo was taken on 9th May.
Peter O asked earlier whether it was possible the McCanns were seen on 3rd May with another child who was mistaken for Madeleine, perhaps another child wearing a sun hat, and I was saying it is a possibility.

I don’t think the friends know. Maybe one or two, but I really don’t think the rest of them know what happened.
As for Murat, it all depends on what the police have. I think it is more than coincidental that GM reported his wallet as stolen and got everything but the cash back. That cash could have gone to pay off someone and these days, it seems like an awful lot of people are looking for a quick way to make money. If the girl was already dead, he may have convinced himself that he was doing something positively good, like helping the twins keep their parents or something like that.

Let us be sensible - a single 750 ml bottle of wine is not going to touch the sides . Most doctors learn the art of heavy drinking a medical school and carry-on into later life - they are hardly going to feel a bottle, or a bottle and half each over dinner.
Long term safe levels 2 to 3 units per day: 14 to 24 units per week are not the determinants of how much you need to drink to feel drunk it is all a question of tolerance- Old Harry can knock back 3 or 4 bottles in a protracted session - though, generally, drinking to excess is a young man’s game

NICE :)….Kate wanting a child welfare job???? LOL..
This tragedy keeps getting more ridiculous by the minute..
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:35 pm
555 Kitty you’re right …. it’s the anti-anti-McCann camp.
Just sticking with the Third Way theory for a moment, they are getting a lot of heavy weight support, is the assumption thay are part of the “ring” or coincidence?
I guess it seems to work … it just seems too complicated vis-à-vis my sanity check (” Occam’s razor”).
Oh … and it’s really sick sick sick……..
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:34 pm
557 Sharon I too wondered about the blanket story..but to my knowledge, nothing about blankets missing from the resort has been reported. I presume Murat’s child was wrapped in a blanket so that it couldn’t be photographed. Maybe someone else knows more?
