Madeleine McCann: When Waiters Attack, Kate McCann Childcare Inc. And Feudal Powers
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – ‘McCANNS OR A FRIEND MUST BE TO BLAME’. Tapas bar waiter’s astonishing attack”
Jose Batista served the McCanns and party on that night Madeleine disappeared. “I did not think she had been taken by an abductor,” says he. “I told them [the police] it had to be one of the family or a friend. It had to be someone close”
Mr Batista is a “crucial eyewitness”
Page 4: “Nanny would have cost just £10” – Batista is standing with his “partner” Maria Fernandes, who also works at the Ocean Club complex. She does not speak. She smiles for the camera. Why is she there? They are holding hands. He says the Tapas 9 did check on their children regularly: “I know that because I often took food to the table and found one of them not there. I would take it back to the table to heat it up. But it was always the men who went to check never the women.” Apart from the time Kate McCann went to check. So not always the men. Jose thought that strange. Why?
Says he: “They left heir children alone. If I had been in that position I certainly wouldn’t have done that.” Maria smiles
“Kate may be a child carer after ruling out GP work” – But would she make living at it?
THE SUN front page: “MADDIE EXCLUSIVE: WHAT WAITERS SAW. Kate left kids alone 3 hours a night”
It’s Jose Baptista, not to be confused with the Express’s Jose Batista, even if this waiter does look very similar and is seen holding hands with his “wife”, also called Maria
Pages 4 and 5: “The men normally checked on kids..Kate only went that one night”
Kate and Gerry are “doctors”. Says Jose: “They left their children alone for up to three hours every night.” Apart from when they all went out as family, with the “cranky” children
Maria speaks: “I definitely remember Madeleine. She was like a little angel, very quiet and good as gold. Just a lovely little blonde girl.” Blonde, you say?
“CAREER PLANS STILL ON HOLD”
DAILY STAR page 7: “holiday waiter describes horror night girl vanished – MADDIE: ‘ONLY PARENTS OR PALS COULD HAVE DONE IT’” – Jose Batista says…
“Kate wants job in child care”
DAILY MAIL front page: “I want to work in child care says Maddie’s mother”
Page 7: “Kate McCann ‘wants a job in child welfare’” – So it is “claimed”. So she ahs “told friends”
“FRIENDS ‘SHARED EIGHT BOTTLES OF WINE A NIGHT’” – Says Jose Baptista. Yes, eight bottles between nine Britons. On holiday. In the sun. Indeed, is that all?
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 9: “Madeleine’s mother ‘to as GP for a child welfare job’”
“One possibility is that she will set up a charity to raise awareness of the extent of child abductions across Europe, and help parents and children who suffer such an ordeal”
Fernando Jose Pinto Montiero, Portugal’s attorney general, says the country’s Ministerio Publico, likened to the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service, is a “feudal power”

Wow, for a while there, I thought Anorak had taken Ian (Stevo)’s advice to ban me. So glad it is back up and going!!
It is amazing, though- 48 hours away from Anorak and I was re-convinced of the McCanns’ innocence.

I am sick of subject about Kate and her looks and boob size - blah blah blah, it has NO relevance whatsoever ( except to her paranoid state of mind) she is just an average looking almost 40 year old, married female of no particular distinction. Neither ugly nor beautiful. Ordinary is all.
Have nothing useful to contribute….been at hospital specialists most of the day.with gaggles of women reading such stuff as OK! Heat and Hello and drooling over gossip…. ho hum. Worse, since it was a private hospital where one assumes it attracts more educated people. But no….. another preconception flattened. Oops.
Off to play catch up on posts here.

there was no abduction the Portuguese chief of police has stated he knows who killed Madeleine and he has a good idea of what happend, murat is a red herring much like the ones scarlett was throwing around, phones have been tapped and evidence or unwise conversations monitored, the net is closing very soon.Stig is right about albatrosses, this case is a very big one hanging round the suspects necks.

It seems that even lots of money spent on PR doesnt do it!
Its making it difficult for the pro-Mccanners here to defend them.
They really need some help from some of you clever people on here!

I know…and if it wasn’t for the fact that you Germans were interested in those sunloungers, you’d have probably already caught us Brits up in the drinking dept.
I’m joking of course…no offense meant.

Gerry’s vocabulary seems to be very thought out and rehearsed. There’s never the slightest stutter or “erm…” It’s all too calculating in my opinion.

There is a def booze culture in this country, a very special booze culture as in “A night out after which you can still remember how you got home is a wasted night”. Never seen that anywhere else.

GM’s own parents said that when he said ‘disaster’ they thought there had been a car accident.

Rosemary 656 Merci! Fortunately, I speak French!

658 Stevo, at risk of proving Stig Mccann right and agreeing with you, I agree with you!
Imagine having to make that call - makes me feel sick the thought of it. Actually my wife was talking about the use of the word ‘disaster’ - she said it will conjure up a different kind of event. The certaintly of an abduction sounds like they saw it happening, the language is ‘odd’ yet again.
I dont know if you listened to kate Mccann on the Womens Hour program but she used a phrase I found ‘odd’ there too. She said ‘When we realised Madeleine had gone’. Firstly, ‘We realised’ - I thought she was alone - secondly, ‘Madeleine had gone’ sounds like ‘passed away’ to me. So this infers She was with someone and together they realised madeleine had passed away. What I cant fathom is why they had to dispose of her, why couldnt they report her death?

October 23rd, 2007 at 5:58 pm
I also like the words Kate chose when asked if it was the twins that were keeping her awake, she said no it was Madeleine, she was haunting her? HAUNTING? Odd word to use when talking about your 4 year old missing child.
October 23rd, 2007 at 5:56 pm
Rosemary 652 Thanks for that!
October 23rd, 2007 at 5:56 pm
658 - Dont you think that ‘disaster’ is a weird thing to say? if someone had called me and said that, i’d have thought a flood or a fire or someting along those lines. Gerry does have a ludicrous vocabulary sometimes imo

There was a link here last week to you tube site where a guy does linguistic forensics..sort of like a lie detector but more accurate and does not require the person present to be questioned… they can take from TV or phone etc….and analysis is on words and breathing .But like reading eyes and body language, but in this case words. Not sure if it is officially approved method .

650 Stigg Mccann.
Oh dear! You snapped!
Well, lets see now, I used to own a ZX81 so maybe that gives you a clue?

“Mrs Healy, 61, recalled the first words uttered by her son-in-law when he rang her at home in Liverpool: “There’s been a disaster, it’s a disaster.”
Disaster? Too right! If I had called my folks and told them one of their grand-kids had been abducted after I left the apartment unlocked and went on the piss, I would expect a lynch mob from all my family.

Sedation of Children.
Unfortunately, and I did not know this until recently, sedation of children was widely practiced by parents in the fifties and sixties. My mother told me about this. She relates that it was a very common practice to give children phenolbarbitol before putting them to bed for the night so that the parents could have a dinner party.
She mentioned that a lot of her own friends did this, she thought it was wrong, but most did not.

Sorry, wrong link for Ylenia Lenhard and von Aesch case. This is the right one:

would be interesting to see how much time the children spent at the creche before Madeleine disappeared. Also would be interesting to see what a typical week was like at the Mccann house as far as how much time was spent with the children.

Rationalist,
Most of the reports on the kidnapping of Ylenia Lenhard by von Aesch are here:
http://www.getrealweekly.com/Images/get%20real_Ed%2019.pdf
Ylenia’s (single, working - paediatric nurse)mother has already set up a foundation to help other children.

“Officers will travel to the UK with a public prosecutor “within days”, Policia Judiciaria national director Alipio Ribeiro told the Spanish newspaper El Pais.”
There’ll be 9 sphincter muscles working overtime over the next few days…

636 Ian
I have wondered about you for a while, and now I have it, you are still in secondary school. You show all the puerile behaviours of an adolescent, egging Stevo and others on in their tasteless photo manipulations. Bragging about how good their efforts are and how no one else could possibly be so clever. Constant little snipes and taunts at people like a little dog yapping threateningly at their heels. The comments being of themselves, childish and witless.
When is your bed time, little person?

Father Pacheco says ’san almas perdido’ on Spanish TV interview. Have not looked at this link yet so hope it works. Includes interview with Mr and Mrs Healy too.

So if it was Kate Mccann, who favours loss of control as the cause? Or was it improper sedation - Gerry not so good at parctising medicine? Or the Doctor who is already in trouble…I forget his name.
O’Brien is the most likely to be involved I think.
I think Susan Healy might inadvertantly blow this all out of the water - She seems unhappy that they neglected the kids and she called it ‘a terrible mistake’ - good for her, honesty at last!
