728 — I think the PJ is focusing on KM as the killer because they have good reason to believe she was the one there when Madeleine died. If KM was present when Madeleine actually died, and GM wasn’t, it is appropriate that the PJ would look to KM first and GM as an accessory. My guess is that KM was there, that GM got back to the room, and that he convinced her to cover it up. What GM had over KM at the moment was, “You did this, but do as I say, and I’ll protect you.” Accidents happen and I think most people would pity the McCanns if they said wither, “We are desperately sorry we left our kids alone that night. We are to blame for her being abducted. Our message to other parents is never leave your kids alone.” Instead, GM trotted around the world to raise “awareness” about pedophiles, and was quick to shrug off his own responsibility. I think people would also be forgiving if the McCanns had sedated Madeleine and had immediately called the cops and told the truth. In fact, if that had happened, probably relatively few people in the world would even have heard of this case. Perhaps one or both of the McCanns would have lost their medical licenses, perhaps they’d even done a bit of minimum security jail time (although I doubt it), but their legal issues by now would have been dealt with.

Susan Healy’s brother, Brian Kennedy, was at the door of the house in Rothley to greet them, along with other relatives. Maybe they didn’t want to have too big a crowd at the beginning.
Have you ever seen Brian Healy, K’s father? He is obviously a sick man. Maybe he can’t always travel.?
GM writes in his blog that they were in Liverpool this last weekend. There don’t appear to be any problems. There were times in his blog when he mentions K’s family caming out from England but her father is not a well man. That may be the reason for less travelling.

767, Jolie (& Uta)…. It might be interesting to go back and read all the news stories from those early days- weren’t they the only stories in which Tapas 9 members were actually quoted? I wonder if something could be pieced together? If Payne said something like that, and Kate Said something similar … It gets sorta fishy. I think this week, with reinterviewing the friends, the police will crack the case.

I think all these people who behave like that are negligent … you cannot defend these DOCTORS with the ‘everyone does it’ argument. I doubt actually that anyone would leave a 3 year odl with two two year olds in the way they did.
Anyway, Doctors was emphasised. GP’s in the UK have recently been advised on the issue of neglect and child abuse, signs to look for etc. kate would have know damn well that what she was doing was not acceptable. Anyway, things have moved on and this now looks much more serious - unless you think everyone disposes of bodies etc etc?

Perhaps what I was remembering was the fact that the cost of their rented villa in Portugal, which they moved to after staying at Mark Warner’s, was donated to the McCanns (which it was). I don’t know, but perhaps someone else here knows.

Meanwhile a British holidaymaker whose hire car was seized by police hunting for Madeleine McCann yesterday angrily denied any involvement in the case.
Jim Gorrod, 34, a solicitor from Exeter, was on holiday in Praia da Luz on the Algarve with his pregnant wife Charlotte and toddler son when the four-year-old went missing.
The Gorrods, who knew one of the couples on holiday with the McCanns, joined the search for Madeleine in the hours following her disappearance in May.
But three months later, the solicitor found himself under investigation and his Portuguese rental car being impounded for examination.
This led to speculation that a ‘mystery’ Briton might be linked to Madeleine’s disappearance.
But Mrs Gorrod described the speculation as “ridiculous” and said detectives had cleared them of any involvement.
Her husband is said to have come under suspicion at a car hire office when he returned his vehicle two days after Madeleine went missing.
It is understood staff at the Sixt car hire office at Faro Airport thought it odd that a man on his own was returning a car with a rented baby seat.
The staff’s concerns were farcical and could easily have been checked out, say the couple, because Mr Gorrod had dropped his family and luggage at the entrance to the busy airport before returning the car.
But the hire firm reported its concerns to police and waited to be contacted.
Astonishingly, it took three months for police to ask for the blue Opel Corsa, which had been rented out to at least six more customers since then, to be examined.
Yesterday, Mr Gorrod was revealed to be the mystery British driver being sought for questioning by the Policia Judiciaria.
He immediately issued a statementproclaiming his innocence and insisted a British detective had told him he had ‘nothing to worry about’.
He said: “A British police officer directly liaising with the Portuguese investigation team recently contacted me to eliminate the vehicle I hired for the holiday.
“The car has been identified and I have been told by the British police officer that he has no plans to interview me or my family.
“We are of course deeply saddened by Madeline’s disappearance and hope for her safe return.”
Mr and Mrs Gorrod already knew two of the McCann group, Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner because they live two streets away in Exeter and have a child of the same age.
But the Gorrods said they did not know they would be in the same resort and they did not travel with the Mark Warner holiday company or stay at the Ocean Club apartments.
During the week in Praia da Luz, they are said to have ‘occasionally’ bumped into their friends but never met Gerry and Kate McCann.
When Madeleine went missing, James Gorrod joined other holidaymakers in helping search for the child before taking his family home to Devon.
Then a week ago, during a review of the case by British detectives, the family’s hire car was finally seized and examined by Portuguese police.

707 — Hold on! I never said KM’s mother made no effort to see her or didn’t see her after Madeleine disappeared. But it is a FACT that KM’s mother went on the Today Show two days after the McCanns got back from Portugal. It is a FACT that KM’s mother told Matt Lauer she hadn’t seen Kate since she’d got back in the country, which means that either Susan Healy didn’t want to be at her daughter’s doorstep when they returned, or KM didn’t want her there, or both. I defy you to show how I have made anything up.

Susan Healy was on TV within a couple of days of the event saying it was a terrible mistake (or words to that effect. I forget her exact words.)
I don’t think anyone could possibly think it was a good idea, could they? Kids might wake and be distressed. They should always be within earshot or able to be checked every few minutes if they are not (eg. in a big house, with TV on, one might not hear them at once but would be checking all the time.)
However, sad though it is, many people do exactly the same. Many sites and hotels have a listening service which means a member of staff goes round and listens for kids crying. The McCanns more or less did that themselves. The waiter says it was more like every 20 minutes not every half hour, which seems to tally with leaked timelines for that night.

The night that Madeleine McCann was abducted was not the first time that her parents had left her alone while on holiday, according to reports in Portugal.
The newspaper Correio da Manha says that the McCanns had left their children alone before during their holiday in the Algarve - a routine that, while normal at Praia da Luz, may have made it easy for her kidnapper to plan the abduction.
“Police have reconstructed the holiday routines of the McCanns and have come to the conclusion that the children were left alone on other occasions,” the newspaper says.
It reported that throughout the week the McCanns and their friends made a habit of suppers by the pool while the children - Madeleine, her twin siblings, and three other children - slept alone in the apartments. The night she was abducted, Madeleine’s parents had been checking on her roughly every half hour.
Statements to police from employees at the resort said that neither the McCanns nor other parents had demonstrated any worry about leaving the children alone. Employees also said this was normal behaviour at Praia da Luz.
The nightly routine, if observed by the kidnapper, would have made it easy to plan the kidnapping.”
I think the same thing happens in a lot of similar sites. Well, it DID. I bet it doesn’t any more.

About that stroller pic–the little girl doesn’t look like Madeleine to me, but if she is, perhaps it indicates some problem with motor control, like you say, Charge’s or another syndrome, where the child likely can’t walk for extended periods.
You’ll only know for sure with dna, or some kind of early pediatric medical report.
