Madeleine McCann: When Waiters Attack, Kate McCann Childcare Inc. And Feudal Powers
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – ‘McCANNS OR A FRIEND MUST BE TO BLAME’. Tapas bar waiter’s astonishing attack”
Jose Batista served the McCanns and party on that night Madeleine disappeared. “I did not think she had been taken by an abductor,” says he. “I told them [the police] it had to be one of the family or a friend. It had to be someone close”
Mr Batista is a “crucial eyewitness”
Page 4: “Nanny would have cost just £10” – Batista is standing with his “partner” Maria Fernandes, who also works at the Ocean Club complex. She does not speak. She smiles for the camera. Why is she there? They are holding hands. He says the Tapas 9 did check on their children regularly: “I know that because I often took food to the table and found one of them not there. I would take it back to the table to heat it up. But it was always the men who went to check never the women.” Apart from the time Kate McCann went to check. So not always the men. Jose thought that strange. Why?
Says he: “They left heir children alone. If I had been in that position I certainly wouldn’t have done that.” Maria smiles
“Kate may be a child carer after ruling out GP work” – But would she make living at it?
THE SUN front page: “MADDIE EXCLUSIVE: WHAT WAITERS SAW. Kate left kids alone 3 hours a night”
It’s Jose Baptista, not to be confused with the Express’s Jose Batista, even if this waiter does look very similar and is seen holding hands with his “wife”, also called Maria
Pages 4 and 5: “The men normally checked on kids..Kate only went that one night”
Kate and Gerry are “doctors”. Says Jose: “They left their children alone for up to three hours every night.” Apart from when they all went out as family, with the “cranky” children
Maria speaks: “I definitely remember Madeleine. She was like a little angel, very quiet and good as gold. Just a lovely little blonde girl.” Blonde, you say?
“CAREER PLANS STILL ON HOLD”
DAILY STAR page 7: “holiday waiter describes horror night girl vanished – MADDIE: ‘ONLY PARENTS OR PALS COULD HAVE DONE IT’” – Jose Batista says…
“Kate wants job in child care”
DAILY MAIL front page: “I want to work in child care says Maddie’s mother”
Page 7: “Kate McCann ‘wants a job in child welfare’” – So it is “claimed”. So she ahs “told friends”
“FRIENDS ‘SHARED EIGHT BOTTLES OF WINE A NIGHT’” – Says Jose Baptista. Yes, eight bottles between nine Britons. On holiday. In the sun. Indeed, is that all?
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 9: “Madeleine’s mother ‘to as GP for a child welfare job’”
“One possibility is that she will set up a charity to raise awareness of the extent of child abductions across Europe, and help parents and children who suffer such an ordeal”
Fernando Jose Pinto Montiero, Portugal’s attorney general, says the country’s Ministerio Publico, likened to the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service, is a “feudal power”
THE INDEPENDENT, THE GUARDIAN, THE TIMES and DAILY MIRROR: No Madeleine news today

And in fact, knowing first-hand about real cases of neglect, it makes me angry that people here actually make light of REAL cases of neglect by going on and on about the “neglect” of the McCanns. It was an incredibly stupid decision on their part, but it’s nothing — absolutely nothing– compared to other cases out there.

You can have a passport issued for an unborn child???

Hey! I like the “Sir”…lol. What do they say? Money and/or sex influences almost every decision on the planet.
Cheers and I’ll have some red wine if you have it.

I’m not 100% sure. (non-native speaker). You mean where?

Correct, Madeleine was born in May 2003…and your point is?
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:46 pm
931 stevo good evening Sir! Yeah, I’m hoping the cops will uncover their financial plight.. it’s a good motive if ever there was one. Money seems to motivate these types. Speaking of motivation, i feel the co-operative beckon me back soon to purchase wines!
Back soon gang. Love and peace x x

936. Julie. On the contrary. There is neglect like what the McCanns did, which was an incredibly stupid act. And there is habitual, lifelong, abusive neglect– parents who consistently let their children run wild, eat anything they want, houses filled with cat shit and cigarette butts and heroin needles. Our family recently took in a 15-year-old who had lived his entire life this way, in homes with no electricity/running water, frequently filled with trash/animal feces/maggots. The kid was not looked after, left to run wild in the streets until all hours of the night. The kid was never ACTIVELY abused (hit, beat up, etc) but he was in a SERIOUSLY neglectful situation. Luckily, the worst that happened to him was a few drunken episodes at age 14. You cannot, absolutely cannot, compare what the McCanns did, to this.

They aren’t identical twins first of all. The front one is pasted in to the picture thus proving to Real Stig that his point about hair is irrelevant. Look at the hair on the front one and see how it has strands that overlap the tree. It took me 10 minutes to create that image and I know you can’t see any joins.

937 Stevo Because these Mccanns are weird.
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:44 pm
936 Agree.
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:43 pm
The PJ even have on their description of Madeleine:
“She has a small brown spot on her left leg.”
Why is this information missing from the official findmadeleine site?
In fact, why isn’t there any information about Madeleine on the official site?
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:42 pm
Mild version of child neglect ? THERE IS NO SUCH FRIKKIN THING! Child neglect is child neglect!
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:42 pm
925 Stevo, yes I reckon one at the back is pasted…well?
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:42 pm
Well Kris there is hope yet.
Stevo - I thought M was born in May of 2003?

May is low season isn’t it? The sea was cold - Gerry says so in his blog.
It wasn’t a fancy apartment either. Interesting that you mentioned the finances because a long time ago it was stated in the paper that they both earned a combined 120,000 pounds per annum. Take off Gerry’s 75K and you’re at 45,000. I doubt a 2 day a week locum is going to earn 45,000.
They moved to this house about a year before May. The mortgage payments would be very steep as you say and there’s two tidy motors in the driveway. Interesting point.

Ian Says:
922 Ferdinand, being born?
Certainly.
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:39 pm
Ian, pardon me, I should have said, it’s possible the McCanns are innocent of anything EXCEPT a mild version of child neglect.
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:38 pm
925 Stevo, the one at the back looks suspect, but I cant tell for sure without zooming it. Hold on…
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:38 pm
Ian, a question for you. You repeat frequently that there’s “no evidence” of an abduction. What kind of evidence do you suppose an abductor would leave?
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:37 pm

What do you make of this photo of identical twins:

Someone recently posted in here that it was strange that the McCanns got a passport for Madeleine a few days after she was born.
Well…to that person - they DIDN’T!
The PJ website shows Madeleine’s passport number and says it was issued on 04-08-2003.
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:35 pm
918 Kris, damn you spoiled it!
Just beginning to think you were being sensible whn you decide the Mccaans could be inncoent of anything.
They cant - they neglected the child or are covering up, if they didnt neglect, she couldnt have been abducted. If she was abducted, they are guilty of neglect.
ta da!

Portia Says:
“1. The McCann’s own statements to the resort management, that they needed to have a special table set up for them in the tapas bar which was closer to their apartment. They based this need on their report that their children were not getting enough sleep. So the children not getting enough sleep was a concern expressed by the parents to the management of the resort.
2. Sedation would also help with this lack of sleep. Since the police have evidence of all three children being sedated, sedation based on lack of sleep is confirmed.”
If they chose sedation, then there would have been no need to move from the restaurant to the tapas bar.
“3. Many people have adverse reactions to sedation. A serious reaction, according to the British Medical Journal, would cause the victim to vomit blood. Blood traces were found on the wall, next to a large area on the wall that had been scoured. All it takes is a little bleach to destroy DNA. They missed a few spots, the dog found it in August.”
An adverse reaction would have been expected the second time when the drug was applied. But it was allready the 4th night they dined in the tapas bar.
“4. The cadaver dog showed a strong reaction on the concrete steps.”
It takes some hours before a person who just died starts to smell like a cadaver.
“5. The police have stated that they think GM found Maddie on the steps. They think he called Murat and Murat helped him cover it up.”
He could as well have called the chambermaid. Would have cost him a little tip of course.
“6. GM called home to report “a disaster” had occurred. There is a finality in his choice of words.”
Indeed, if it were an abduction, than he would have called it merely “an inconvenience”.
“This theory is perfectly plausible. It is backed up by British statistics and police evidence. The strongest evidence is presented by the parents who have made it clear that they have extreme difficulty admitting mistakes.”
What would be their mistake anyway in your theory?
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:35 pm
The proceeds of crime act allows police to investigate a persons finances. The police could check to see if the McCann’s were in financial trouble as a possible motive to forming this “fund” For all we know mc cans might have been near bankrupcy. a 600,000 mortgage isnt cheap, plus as someone stated previously, if mc cann was on 75,000 a year why go to a two-bit place like that and use cheap-ass flights etc.
It’s well worth a look-in
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:32 pm
A fact of the matter is that someone or more than one knows where she is- I have a slight hunch that the grand parents will talk if they know or have suspicions. For a start the plate is significant to them it bit more than a memoradum as they must have a lot more than that as a so called physical memory of her. I don’t think for a moment that the mc’s were into letting maddy be used by paedo’s. A bit off the mark for my liking. I have thought of every scenario, an abductor is likely but I think it might be a shock to everyone including the parents as to who it is. Possibly a trusted friend. Every scenario is worth a thought.

Stevo Says:
“And slyfox…even if there was a man in there taking pictures, he’d be seen by that guy in sunglasses and he’s been with the PJ anyway. He’s in photos with Murat and the PJ. From where he’s watching the castle, he’d see anyone in there. There’s a slide on his side of it so it’s obviously open to an onlooker…”
My point is “that guy in the sunglasses” is with the guy taking photos/making a call. I can see your point about a crouching man taking photos being suspicious to onlookers but if Gerry was comfortable/part of the triple male scene then those two men are just shadowing GM and kids with GM’s consent. Therefore no onlookers0 but Gerry would needs to be suspicious.
A bit convoluted that but in a rush cos going out.

912- DeeDeeDee. No. I’m still sittong on the fence. But I agree that Uta’s sketch is the MOST LIKELY scenario, given the scant facts we do have. Not just given the facts, but given the statistics on what happens to kids gone missing. So Uta’s scenario is the simplest, most statistically likely, version of events.
This is really the same thing I’ve been saying for weeks, but I do still believe it is possible the McCanns are entirely innocent of any wrongdoing at all.
