cuz… it ain’t in the eye of the beholder at all… art isn’t beauty, beauty isn’t art! the two are often mutually exclusive in fact. by necessity.

and of course, it *would* be. being myself a practicing (arf) ‘traditional’ artist, it always amuses me to read slightly vehement critiques of modern art by people who have no understanding of what ‘art’ is. i bet you just LOVE an unmade bed, don’t ya?

if i declare it art then it goddam well IS art. if you throw the dinner against the wall- is it the dinner hitting the wall that makes it art? is it the actual substance and the patterns it makes that make it art? or is it the act of throwing that is the art bit?

or maybe you just like a nice Haywain. erk.
