733 — Stevo, I agree. Murat was not involved. His connection to the McCanns was nil-to-tenuous. Middle class people do not dospose of children’s bodies for money if they have no connection to the case. (Most middle class people don’t dispose of anyone’s body, but you get my point!)

Stevo 745- Gerry converted to Catholic on meeting Kate I think, not sure what he converted from, might be hard to break away from JW, but atleast him converting would gain brownie points with the inlaws you would have thought. Think Murats ex is JW.

Whenever a JW comes to my door I have a stock question for them: Who cleans up the lion shit? They look at me bemused and then I say “well, you guys say that we’ll all live in Utopia one day and in Watchtower there’s a picture of a family having a picnic with a lion beside them because the lion is no longer wild”. They reply “yeah, and…?” Then I say “like I asked you…who is going to clean up that nasty lion shit after the picnic as that doesn’t sound very Utopian to me!”

Kate can still be hysteric; extreme numbness she’s showing can be of a hysterical nature. She seems hysterical and un-stable to me too, and as for her being cold it’s not a psychopathic coldness IMO but something I would more likely linked to hysteric emotion paralysis.
Her suffering is real; but IMHO it’s more connected with guilt (accidental killing?)
Pat: would you – like me – compare McCann’s case to Paula Sims case?

German in Italy - I think you do have a point there. Third Way is a lunatic very much focused on sinister explanations.
Your point - could this be a group scam to make a load of money? And possibly got out of hand? There are a couple of things that could give some consistency to that theory. Notably that the mccanns were terribly quick to set up a massive communications campaign, fund etc. when most parents would still be focused on what happened to their daughter. At the same time, their reticence to use any money from the fund… really is weird. If I had 1 million in my bank account and my girl was missing i’d be hiring cops and detectives right left and centre.
This reticence in using the funds also makes me question the theory defended by Third Way that there is some sexual or paedo link between the group. If that was the case and they have created all this campaign and fund to help with the cover up, then their main objective would be not to be accused - and not necessarily preserving the money in the fund. It sounds like more than looking for Madeleine, more than showing that they are doing something (by spending the money) they are simly interested in keeping the fund intact.

How do you know this? Was this man in the PDL photos identified at all in the media? Maybe I missed it. Did someone say he was a PJ man at some point? What’s he doing smiling towards the camera in a family shot? Like he knows them or is part of the conversation? I saw these photos a few days ago but thought all of you on here must have known about them and they had been discounted. Will someone clear this up for me?

Some bloke here in the US was on the news earlier this week. He was a JW and was convicted of pedophilia. I think it’s tough on those churches though because pedophiles are everywhere. I’d like to see statistics on pedophiles vs. their religious orientation if only to see if there really is a larger proportion of JWs or Catholics involved in this stuff.

Yes, I’ve given some thought to the point about there being no videos of Madeleine. There was that one in the beginning in which she opened and shut her mouth, but nothing since (that I’ve seen anyway). If there were videos, one would think that they’d have been used very freely as it would give a better identification of the actual child

If reports of Kate’s diary prove true, when younger she cried “18 hours a day.” Perhaps just seemed like 18, but that struck me as excessive.
