We probably had a misunderstanding though. I come from a religiously mixed family (to put it mildly) and I’m hyper-sensitive to any hint of polarisation since I love all of them.

865 — Stevo — All the PJ have to do to rile Gerry McCann is ask him about the conflicting stories he’s told in public. GM will give himself away with body language, but he’ll keep lying. (He’ll wrap himself up in conflicting lies, but he’ll just stubbornly make up new lies rather than tell the truth.) Kate McCann, however, is a a different story. I’ve always felt she was a pitiable character beingn semi-coerced into covering up what was an accident. Of course, I feel Kate McCann should be called out and punished, but I pity her because she at least demonstrates some humanity. She seems to me to be traumatized by her role in her daughter’s (presumably accidental) death, and by the strain of denying knowledge about that. I think the reason she hardly cries is less that she is a cold person — even semi-sociopathic women I know could muster tears for their children, if only for appearance — than that she is frozen since the moment of the accident, which she cannot publicly acknowledge even occurred. She can’t grieve for the child she knows is dead, because real grief may reveal too much to the world. So she has turned into stone. I bet she would crack under additional questioning by PJ because Garry McCann won’t be at her side to enforce the silence. I predict — this takes no real insight, I acknowledge — that her lawyers can see that Kate will not be able to keep up the fascade under more questioning, never mind a trial. Her lawyers’ goal probably is to do whatever possible to keep KM from being questioned again.

897 Stevo, theres more and more coming out really, nothing seems to blow anything out of the water except abduction - thats getting less and lees likely. Surely ther would be something by now.
One thing that is odd, the Mccanns say (via Clarence) that there is information which they can’t tell us about which confirms to them that Maddie was taken to Spain. Sooner or later they have to lift that veil of mystery.
I know people use such ploys to win debates (using mystery and superior knowledge to avoid having to explain that which cannot be explained). But they have to come clean sometime surely, so what do they say? Invent something? How we forget? Or is there something real?

That is an interesting take on this. The way this has been reported, it makes it seem like the abductor was hurrying, I think that is due to Jane’s theory? Something else to think about..

Do people think that if this was ever a ransom based kidnap, that this would be solved by now or the McCanns would admit about the ransom? I suppose the only way that wouldn’t be the case is if the police were still trying to find the people and they didn’t want the McCanns making it known that the police know (but then, why involve Murat? Especially if they were lying to the public with the McCanns status).

892. Yes, I thought about the younger children - but perhaps this was a child kidnap to order - and the little girl seemed attractive to the couple for whatever reason. It was planned and executed.

Indeed, Stevo. But the theory Muddywaters is presenting has the maid and a man kidnapping Madeleine. So, based on that theory, I am looking at this in the sense that Kate wouldn’t lie about such things, even if she had tampered with them, she’d confess that she messed up the scene of the crime.

My guess is that Murat was telling the truth when he said he didn’t even know the mcCanns, but that there’s some six-degrees-of-separation connection Murat was unaware of. So, the PJ — perhaps, by now, with Murat’s behind the scenes approval — are distracting all of us with the Murat story. At the same time, while we’re (again) wondering about Murat, the PJ are painstakingly compiling evidence, perhaps including some bombshell that hasn’t even been hinted at yet.

Maybe one or other of them is innocent (was kept in the dark initially - my guess would be Gerry, non-viable sperm, IVF failed (IVF necessary because Kate wont let him) . O’Brien did some extra curricula work - bingo, ‘Madeleine’!
He helped Kate out (after being sent over by Gerry who was recieving tennis coaching by a more voluptuous lady than Kate - Ice Maiden for Gerry so he’s sporting a desire for more than tennis). Murat - he arranged the trip with O’Brien/Payne - does odd jobs for the well heeled Doctors (half Portuguese wants to be in with the ‘in crowd’) and sees an opportunity to made a tidy sum and helps out dispose of the body.

Very true, but Gerry believes the person was in the apartment. So time would be of the essence and the pressure would be on. If you are going to kidnap someone, do you really care if you mess the place up? Surely you care about leaving DNA and things, but why make the bed? Why not leave it as it was so that the parents will spend a bit of time thinking she is hiding or walked off? Also, if it is a maid, wouldn’t tidying the place up be a give away? If they are as smart as you say, that would be a big mistake.
The only theory I think would fit in with that “tidy up” version, would be the woman looking for a child theory. But there is a flaw there as well, as it is more likely she would take one of the younger children.
You’re entitled to your theory and I understand what you’re saying, I’m just pointing out some other things that still don’t add up. (no theory adds up entirely, as there are numerous possibilities and holes, so please don’t think I am trying to pick your theory apart, that isn’t the intention! The intention is that you may actually have good explanations for such things, hence my asking)
