Madeleine McCann: Jane Tanner’s eFit, A Spanish Angel And Wearing Pink Pyjamas
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – 70% DON’T BELIEVE McCANNS”
The McCanns are on the TV in Spain. The show is followed by a phone vote. The people vote, at least some of them do; how many, we are not told. One, two, three..? Gerry is a “cardiologist”
Pages 4 and 5: “Police: Parents are hampering probe.” Angel Galan, head of the Spanish National Police’s kidnap, extortion and murder squad says: “There is no real information to indicate that Madeleine could be in Spain although Mr and Mrs McCann might think so. I think the question is why couldn’t she be in France or in the UK? Why does it have to be Spain, Portugal or Morocco?”
“Drawing that could catch her abductor” – an artist’s impression of a man carrying a child in the vicinity of the McCanns holiday complex on May 3. The man is of average height, of average build, with dark hair and with his facial features not filled in. Do you know him?
The artist was commissioned by the McCanns in light of a person their friend Jane Tanner said she saw on the night Madeleine disappeared
THE SUN front page: “PICTURE SENSATION. He took Maddie – MAN SEEN BY McCANNS’ PAL ON FATEFUL NIGHT”
A drawing of a man. The caption: “Hunted…a drawing of man with child in his arms as seen by Jane Tanner”
Page 13: “MADDIE IN ARMS OF SNATCHER. Pyjamas ‘prove it is her’” – The man is 5ft 6. He is 5ft 10 in the Express. He is “slim”. The girl is wearing pink and white pyjamas. The man is in a maroon shirt, camel coloured trousers and black or brown shoes
Says Clarence Mitchell: “We hope this will go a long was to proving the independent eyewitness account that she was taken by someone and the police’s focus on Kate and Gerry as potential suspects is wrong”. See drawing of a man seen by McCanns’ friend
And: “We believe it does show Madeleine in his arms. The description of the pyjamas is accurate enough to believe that is the case.” The McCanns’ friend sees the girl wearing pyjamas like those worn by Madeleine, whom she knows
“GERRY BACK AT WORK” – Gerry McCann is a “cardiologist” – lest we ever forget
DAILY MIRROR front page: “This is the man who took our Madeleine. PARENTS RELEASE SKETCH”
Page 11: “’He was slim with untidy black hair, plastered back. He was hurrying with a child in pink pyjajmaas’” (No songs please)
“’KIDNAPPER’ SEEN BY KATE’S PAL”
Paul Routledge: “All I want to do is put my arms around her and say: ‘there, there’ while she sobs out her grief on my shoulder”
DAILY MAIL front page: “Friends’ fears for ‘increasingly fragile’ Kate”
Pages 8 and 9: “Is Kate at breaking point?” – If she cracks up will the papers like her better? “Friends fear for Maddie’s mother after TV ordeal”
“SPANISH EYES” – The McCanns have launched a private “proxy investigation” in Spain. Under Portuguese law it is illegal to use private detectives while an investigation is ongoing
The mystery man who may have taken her” – Mrs Tanner sees the man. She is later “racked with guilt”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE PARENTS ‘HIDING TRUTH’ – 70 per cent of TV viewers thinks McCanns are lying”
Pages 4 and 5: “BODY LANGUAGE SPECIALIST GIVES HIS VERDICT ON KATE – ‘MUM WOULD BE VERY GOOD POKER PLAYER’.” Robert Phipps watches the interview with Kate McCann on Spanish TV. She is frowning, and expert Phipps says this is indicative of “pain” and stress. Who knew? We do not know if he then voted in the subsequent poll
THE TIMES front page: “Madeleine ‘abductor’” – The white man is of “medium build”
Page 9: “’This is the man who took Madeleine away’” – The Times says the new picture bears “no resemblance to Robert Murat”. The picture has been handed to the McCanns’ detectives who are operating across Europe and North Africa
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “Madeleine ‘abductor’” – This is the man Jane Tanner says she saw at 9:15pm on May 3

1022. My learned and well travelled government employed friend said that tourism to Portugal was higher than average in September.

Judith C,
I was wondering if I could emai privately. I just had an “aha” moment when re-reading your post #926. I recall you mentioned a book you authored so I was curious if your email address is listed on Amazon?

People have short memories. They will all be going to Portugal as usual. I think you will even find that they will get more tourists than before.

Stevo, if there were strong evidence of ANYTHING it would be pursued with speed and determination, but all we are doing at the moment seems to be waiting for some DNA results to come back from the UK which may not be any more certain than the earlier ones.
To say there is NO evidence, seems to me slightly disingenuous, there are some ‘indications’ as there are with other scenarios:
Tanners sighting of a man carrying a child.
Sighting by an Irish man (Smith) of a man carrying a blonde child.
Sighting of a blond woman outside the apartment who was looking in through the window.
Unaccounted for DNA traces and fingerprints found in the apartment and which have not been able to be matched to any of the people known to have been in the apartment, prompting a request by the PJ for the UK Police to ask all UK residents staying at the resort at the time to provide DNA samples and fingerprints.
Man seen lurking in stairwell whose behaviour was odd enough to warrant notice and to be mentioned and described to the PJ by the witness.
Possibly a man seen sitting in a car outside the apartment.

You are right about the bad PR. But it doesn’t prove they are guilty.

Ok…but they aren’t doing a good job with the PR because they aren’t respecting the “P” in PR.
If you’re going to employ someone to do a job then why not make that person do the job? This is now worse than those worst of political campaigns. All due to lack of evidence.
Must dash…

You know I never really believed this case was getting big enough that it could seriously hurt relations for a long time until today. I’m seeing an increasing amount of comments on other sites saying “Well if the Portuguese, etc. are treating them this way, then I don’t need to go there”, etc. (because of this recent interview).
And now there is an ever-developing list of people to sue after the fact.
This along with press agencies being quite patronizing to the general public.
Even with a body, I don’t think we’ll have solid proof of anyone being responsible, so unless there is another break or someone confesses, I don’t see this being solved. (of course, unless she is being held, alive)
So, as this will carry on for a great deal of time, I see these rifts being long lasting.

1000 Thea, peak seasons here are normally from Mid to end April (pleasant, bearable weather), beginning to mid July(freezing cold according to our standards) and beginning December to mid January (sometimes unbearably hot).
Best time to come over here would definitely be December, if you want to experience the true beauty of Africa (and the lovely hot sun). You will not regret coming to visit Africa …. it is an experience that will remain with you always. However, just one wee word of warning (and this is said with all honesty), crime is rampant in my country at the moment, and if you do visit, you need to be extremely vigilant and careful.

Don’t you just hate people who want to sue all the time? It’s like a kid at school telling the other kids he’s going to set his dad on them.
I personally think Gerry was like that at school. His arrogance telling Kate what to do in the interview yesterday (irrespective of what he actually said), is terrible. I bet she is under his thumb beyond belief.
October 26th, 2007 at 8:46 pm
“…..Mr McCann’s only concern during the interview was to ‘control’ his wife.”
Ah hah! So Gerry McCann is very much like most men.
(Except that he likes to wear a gold lamé noodle ring.)
dave s, You’ll notice I said ‘noodle’ rather than ‘cock’ because I didn’t want to make you cry again. If you do tear up though Kate has a silo of tissues to share.

Lets get off the subject of who’s to blame. Put it to the back of your little narrow mind. And lets talk about new developents shall we? Because if we don’t look at every ‘angle’ (as dippo puts it) then we may never know the truth. So lets just hope it may just lead to something. Hmm?

881 Julie (the 1st)
There might have been another, independent sighting. Have a look at post 86. Post 96 has further info
You might find post 3 interesting also.
October 26th, 2007 at 8:43 pm
Garth Ian etc.
There is as much evidence for a human abduction as there is for it to have been caused by an alien abduction.
That is why the abduction theory is the least likely. Garth - give us non-abduction theory believers something to go on and we’ll look at it. That’s the problem…there’s nothing.

Think you are right there. But it doesn’t mean the McCanns harmed their daughter.
October 26th, 2007 at 8:42 pm
997 and he says I am biased! He puts forward a completel baseless theory and sticks to it - yet I am the one who is biased? Incredible.

Julie the 1st,
How nice! I just met a woman from SA earlier this week. She’s very sweet and new to the US. One of these days my husband and I will get to SA. It’s been a dream of ours for many years but we want to travel to so many African countries we will need a lot of time off and money to take the trip we want.
So when is peak season in SA? Probably opposite to us northerners?

Anyone who reads my posts in here will know I back up my facts and on the rare occasions they are wrong, I will accept and acknowledge my goof. I have not said anything to you I can’t back up or that you could prove me wrong.
Shall we change the subject to dodgy American electrical codes? Or what about American attitudes to health and safety in general? Don’t get me started on those topics because you will lose.

981 John. Its becoming a complete farce isnt it.
Im just waiting for the Mccanns suspect status to be lifted, its bound to come.

Julie
No Julie your wrong luvvy. A bloody abductor/paedophile is why Maddie isan’t here.
And if, (very big IF) Garthy, there was an abductor/paedophile ….. then please tell me who caused the circumstances that allowed this supposed abductor/paedophile to carry out his/her dastardly deed?
October 26th, 2007 at 8:39 pm
990 Wendy
My point is that if you employ “public” relations people then that is because it is your objective. They aren’t guilty of anything because they haven’t been charged with anything (yet or at all). Therefore, their job right now with their PR people is to convince the public - something they are failing miserably at.
Legal issues come later down the line.

I am not arguing facts. Its your facts that are under scrutiny. You misconstrue the facts based on your own bias.
