Madeleine McCann: Jane Tanner’s eFit, A Spanish Angel And Wearing Pink Pyjamas
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – 70% DON’T BELIEVE McCANNS”
The McCanns are on the TV in Spain. The show is followed by a phone vote. The people vote, at least some of them do; how many, we are not told. One, two, three..? Gerry is a “cardiologist”
Pages 4 and 5: “Police: Parents are hampering probe.” Angel Galan, head of the Spanish National Police’s kidnap, extortion and murder squad says: “There is no real information to indicate that Madeleine could be in Spain although Mr and Mrs McCann might think so. I think the question is why couldn’t she be in France or in the UK? Why does it have to be Spain, Portugal or Morocco?”
“Drawing that could catch her abductor” – an artist’s impression of a man carrying a child in the vicinity of the McCanns holiday complex on May 3. The man is of average height, of average build, with dark hair and with his facial features not filled in. Do you know him?
The artist was commissioned by the McCanns in light of a person their friend Jane Tanner said she saw on the night Madeleine disappeared
THE SUN front page: “PICTURE SENSATION. He took Maddie – MAN SEEN BY McCANNS’ PAL ON FATEFUL NIGHT”
A drawing of a man. The caption: “Hunted…a drawing of man with child in his arms as seen by Jane Tanner”
Page 13: “MADDIE IN ARMS OF SNATCHER. Pyjamas ‘prove it is her’” – The man is 5ft 6. He is 5ft 10 in the Express. He is “slim”. The girl is wearing pink and white pyjamas. The man is in a maroon shirt, camel coloured trousers and black or brown shoes
Says Clarence Mitchell: “We hope this will go a long was to proving the independent eyewitness account that she was taken by someone and the police’s focus on Kate and Gerry as potential suspects is wrong”. See drawing of a man seen by McCanns’ friend
And: “We believe it does show Madeleine in his arms. The description of the pyjamas is accurate enough to believe that is the case.” The McCanns’ friend sees the girl wearing pyjamas like those worn by Madeleine, whom she knows
“GERRY BACK AT WORK” – Gerry McCann is a “cardiologist” – lest we ever forget
DAILY MIRROR front page: “This is the man who took our Madeleine. PARENTS RELEASE SKETCH”
Page 11: “’He was slim with untidy black hair, plastered back. He was hurrying with a child in pink pyjajmaas’” (No songs please)
“’KIDNAPPER’ SEEN BY KATE’S PAL”
Paul Routledge: “All I want to do is put my arms around her and say: ‘there, there’ while she sobs out her grief on my shoulder”
DAILY MAIL front page: “Friends’ fears for ‘increasingly fragile’ Kate”
Pages 8 and 9: “Is Kate at breaking point?” – If she cracks up will the papers like her better? “Friends fear for Maddie’s mother after TV ordeal”
“SPANISH EYES” – The McCanns have launched a private “proxy investigation” in Spain. Under Portuguese law it is illegal to use private detectives while an investigation is ongoing
The mystery man who may have taken her” – Mrs Tanner sees the man. She is later “racked with guilt”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE PARENTS ‘HIDING TRUTH’ – 70 per cent of TV viewers thinks McCanns are lying”
Pages 4 and 5: “BODY LANGUAGE SPECIALIST GIVES HIS VERDICT ON KATE – ‘MUM WOULD BE VERY GOOD POKER PLAYER’.” Robert Phipps watches the interview with Kate McCann on Spanish TV. She is frowning, and expert Phipps says this is indicative of “pain” and stress. Who knew? We do not know if he then voted in the subsequent poll
THE TIMES front page: “Madeleine ‘abductor’” – The white man is of “medium build”
Page 9: “’This is the man who took Madeleine away’” – The Times says the new picture bears “no resemblance to Robert Murat”. The picture has been handed to the McCanns’ detectives who are operating across Europe and North Africa
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “Madeleine ‘abductor’” – This is the man Jane Tanner says she saw at 9:15pm on May 3
THE INDEPENDENT and THE GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today

Kris: “Wanderer, what are you saying about the organic/recycling thing? You think it’s all a foolish waste, or what?”
No, I was musing if people who do shop organic now would automatically go for milk from the milkman. I was saying that some of the organic buyers are involved with it because it is quite trendy at the moment, so I’m not sure half of that population would go for it (as it doesn’t involve a store, ‘feel good’ products, what some of them are merely buying into now, etc.). I was thinking that people more concerned with recycling would probably be keen to do it. As the milk bottles are returnable, etc.

1649 - Andante “As a matter of interest, how many people would consider exiting or entering a house through a window, when the turn of a handle could conveniently allow them to use a more accessible door?” No one would enter or leave through the window insetad of the door. But the McCanns painted themselves into a corner when they insisted the hotel room shutterd windows, which opened on the inside, had been forced open after the parents left the hotel room. Turns out these shuttered windows cannot be opened from the outside; they can be opened only by someone on the inside. So, now that would mean the abductor had to have entered through the door and exited through the window. Of course, everyone’s wondering why an abductor who’d come in through a door, would scoop up the heaviest of three sleeping children and thenopen shutters so he could carry the body out the window. WHy wouldn’t he just have used the door again? Well, Gerry McCann knew this made no sense, so he indirectly gave an explanation to the PJ in an interview he gave one of the tabloids. GM claimed that he now thinks the abductor was in the hotel when GM went to check on her. SInce this version of GM’s story had GM not actually seeing Madeleine — he figured she’d got up for some water or to use the bathroom and then had gone into the other room to get away from the noisy twins — this scenario suggests the abductor was hiding behind the other bedroom door, perhaps with Madleine in his arms. Gerry sensed someone was there, but he left without peeking into the other room to see Madeleine. Then, presumably, the abductor left through the window out of fear (?) he’d be spotted by GM if he left through the door. This convoluted and contrived scenario contradicts GM’s other version, in which he claims he did see Madleeine when he checked on her and he remembers thinking how beautiful she is and how lovely the twins are and how lucky he is to have three lovely children.

Yeah orphanages and childrens’ homes. In the UK there was institutionalised sex abuse involving supposed”carers” and even a police chief
(who incidentally lives 2 streets away from me) who got away with it, he defied witnesses, and even his own police pocket book
He even successfully sued the Observer (or telegraph cant remember) and private eye magazine for a cool £1,000,000
October 27th, 2007 at 5:42 am
“The downmarket tabloid 24 Horas, which sells 63,783, has “splashed” the story every day while Portugal’s best selling daily paper, Correio da Manha, a tabloid with a circulation of 157,882, has carried the McCann story on its front page almost as often.”
Isn’t The Daily Mail just two steps up from The Sun? I suppose NotW would get the UK’s Horas crown?
“Even the respected middle market newspapers, Jornal de Noticias (125,458 copies) and Di·rio de NotÌcias (58,959), have devoted an astonishing amount of space to the story.
The coverage is all the more remarkable because the Policia Judiciara, Portugal’s CID, has said little officially about the investigation.”
Am I the only one amused by this?

Andrew, none of these prices you are quoting sound terribly overpriced to me. Our food is too cheap, given what it takes to produce it. There are statistics out there about what percentage of income went to food in 1900 and 1950 and 2005 and we spend WAY less today, percentage wise, on our food. Cause it’s mass produced and, yep, cheap.
Check out Slow Food.
October 27th, 2007 at 5:39 am
Really, Willo, is that pure supposition?
October 27th, 2007 at 5:37 am
Wanderer, what are you saying about the organic/recycling thing? You think it’s all a foolish waste, or what? (I’m feeling a bit dense at the moment. I’ve been drinking wine.)

1668
Oh well, other conversations happen. Plus these are the ‘quiet’ hours typically. I try not to think about prices in general when I go over there (as everything is double and it is depressing).
1667
Willo, hello! I’m not sure about the other babies of the Tapas 7 being IVF. I don’t think such a group would target doctors for that kind of breeding though (unless they had something ‘on’ them). Plenty of young, naive people around and there have been stories of the higher ups using orphanages as such set ups. Just my opinion though.
October 27th, 2007 at 5:32 am
I’m more inclined to believe the latter sinister part of your story there willo. I’ve heard of this kind of thing before and even KNOW people that have been involved in that kind of victim shit when they were kids. Sick, and very very true
October 27th, 2007 at 5:28 am
Everything’s gone up in my local shop. Even sugar is nearly $2 (£1) for a kilogram
Crazy people talking about shopping on a Madeleine forum!! sorry ha ha
October 27th, 2007 at 5:28 am
What about this horrid thought. IVF babies born to order. No genetic ties to the parents and used as playthings of the rich. The carriers get a big pay off and all expenses paid and they supply the virgin!
And maybe they all get free holidays with free flights thrown in from the airline of their choice!
Are any of the other Tapas7 babies IVF? or were they born naturally?Just another angle to look at.
I posted this earlier but have had a few thoughts on it since, pure speculation on my part I might add.
Seeing as they are all doctors they could between them maybe have the knowledge to be able to perform the IVF procedure. A sort of baby farm could be formed with the parents being paid big dosh to produce the offspring to be used for the financiers pleasure. With the contacts these people have they guarantee a clear run for the carrier family and enable the carrier family to use the money to climb the social ladder. With the advanced methods IVF of today they could even chose the sex or colouring of skin , hair etc by selecting the right doners. The doners being blissfully unaware of the whole scheme.
Maybe they obtained eggs from within a ligitimate source or paid over the odds to secure them privately.
The carriers would find it hard to create a bond with their new child and could quite conceivebly hate it as it reminds them how low they have become.
The parents might not be involved in child sex but are like baby sitters to the people in charge. The providers.
They go on holiday in groups so there are a few of these unfortunate children gathered together and all passed on to the Paedophiles (some very important people) while the parents spend their bonus on the lash.
Sometimes one of the abusers goes too far and some children die. Drug over dose, trauma, violence or by running away into further danger. Mostly these accidents have been covered up so far. But there will come a day when it will all unravel because of a loose cannon who panics and loses the plot.
But good solid PR is available to make them look even guiltier and if they do turn states evidence against this group. They or someone they love will be whacked!!! And who would believe them anyway?
Just another opinion. And may I add pure supposition.

Kris, because Andrew was waiting for the milk man.
1661
I don’t know. Some people will buy anything really. I wouldn’t mind the idea of buying milk like that. I don’t think the organic people would be more likely as some really value the whole, I don’t know how to say it without being mean, but you know, some people actually ‘buy into it’. I think people who were into recycling would really like it.
42p? Really? Is that at a supermarket or a local shop? I thought a pint was only 40p?
October 27th, 2007 at 5:24 am
Well Kris, everyone was talking about cheese earlier for some reason, I got out of bed early and had no milk. I think because I couldn’t have cereal or Tea, got a bit obsessed with the desire for milk… That’s all, nothing too strange…. I’m like a crack addict but a dairy products version.
October 27th, 2007 at 5:22 am
OK, fine, I’ll play along. Here in America, we buy milk by the gallon (or, if you have no kids, the half-gallon). A gallon , where I live, is $5. There are 8 pints in a gallon. That’s $8. That is expensive milk, but it’s not completely crazy, since it is delivered.
In addition, at the farmers market where we sometimes go, a quart (two pints right?) of organic raw goat milk is $3. That would be $1.50 a pint. Not delivered, but it’s raw and goat. (Not mine, mind you- I’m not certified).
I bring raw, organic goat milk (illegally) to a neighbor on a regular basis. She pays me $1 a pint. She just uses it for her coffee, though, a smidgen at a time.

No, haven’t seen the chip shop shaun of the dead… got a youtube link?
October 27th, 2007 at 5:19 am
someone please explain the milk thing. why are we discussing milk?
October 27th, 2007 at 5:18 am
I’m not sure actually because 5ooml in the shop is now 45pence when last week it was 42 pence. One pint is more than 500ml so actually it’s probably the same price… I haven’t really worked it out. People should support the milk man really, it’s his livelyhood and he gets up early, lifint all those heavy crates in the rain, wind. snow, freezing cold…. God bless him!! Either way it’s $1+ for one pint of milk delivered which is a bit steep considering one bowl of cereal and a cup of tea= gone!
October 27th, 2007 at 5:18 am
Fuck me Andrew
if my husband delivered before 5 am I would give him a pint! lol
west london
have you seen shaun of the dead? the local shop clip?
October 27th, 2007 at 5:18 am
I don’t get the milk thing. Missed it. Would we pay $1.05 for a pint of milk delivered? I’m sure some of us would. Particularly if it was organic, raw, local milk.
October 27th, 2007 at 5:15 am
1657
Andrew, I don’t think they would. But with the exchange rate it isn’t always fair to judge (although, I think you do have higher food prices in general). Is it 7p for each pint delivered?
October 27th, 2007 at 5:13 am
That pint of milk cost 52p! Do you think a pint of milk is worth 7 pence delivery charge?
Would America pay $1.o5 for a pint of milk delivered? Milky Milkyyyyyyyy

He used to work for the government. I think he’d be used to being playful or at least thinking of something a bit more logical (as there is obviously a reason people would be skeptical, after the ‘cry now’ stories and this being 6 months later).
I’m not DeeDeeDee, or anyone else.

Youtube has more PR skills than Clarence
Do they not read/watch media?
Clarence is under Kates manipulative spell
Gerry hates it and will implode
get your coat

Andante: Well you never know. If I was feeling particularly clever, I might.
October 27th, 2007 at 5:05 am
I think Clarence has a very hard job. I mean, imagine, trying to cover up for these two. You’re going to have to come out with some doozies.
Yes, I thought perhaps you were DeeDeeDee. I haven’t seen her in a while, but she used to be on here late, and was also somewhat mild mannered.
October 27th, 2007 at 5:03 am
Yeah it’s funny. the guy’s got “ex-wife in boot” it’s one of those triangle notices that usually say “child on board” would look great as “madeleine in boot”
I might try and make one

I understand it as an excuse, it is just he is meant to be a spin master and that is pretty weak to come up with. I understand their family saying things like that and their friends, but he’s been in the news business and it really is his job to ‘tackle’ such things for them.
Are you asking if I am DeeDee(Dee)?
October 27th, 2007 at 5:02 am
As a matter of interest, how many people would consider exiting or entering a house through a window, when the turn of a handle could conveniently allow them to use a more accessible door?
