Madeleine McCann: Jane Tanner’s eFit, A Spanish Angel And Wearing Pink Pyjamas
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – 70% DON’T BELIEVE McCANNS”
The McCanns are on the TV in Spain. The show is followed by a phone vote. The people vote, at least some of them do; how many, we are not told. One, two, three..? Gerry is a “cardiologist”
Pages 4 and 5: “Police: Parents are hampering probe.” Angel Galan, head of the Spanish National Police’s kidnap, extortion and murder squad says: “There is no real information to indicate that Madeleine could be in Spain although Mr and Mrs McCann might think so. I think the question is why couldn’t she be in France or in the UK? Why does it have to be Spain, Portugal or Morocco?”
“Drawing that could catch her abductor” – an artist’s impression of a man carrying a child in the vicinity of the McCanns holiday complex on May 3. The man is of average height, of average build, with dark hair and with his facial features not filled in. Do you know him?
The artist was commissioned by the McCanns in light of a person their friend Jane Tanner said she saw on the night Madeleine disappeared
THE SUN front page: “PICTURE SENSATION. He took Maddie – MAN SEEN BY McCANNS’ PAL ON FATEFUL NIGHT”
A drawing of a man. The caption: “Hunted…a drawing of man with child in his arms as seen by Jane Tanner”
Page 13: “MADDIE IN ARMS OF SNATCHER. Pyjamas ‘prove it is her’” – The man is 5ft 6. He is 5ft 10 in the Express. He is “slim”. The girl is wearing pink and white pyjamas. The man is in a maroon shirt, camel coloured trousers and black or brown shoes
Says Clarence Mitchell: “We hope this will go a long was to proving the independent eyewitness account that she was taken by someone and the police’s focus on Kate and Gerry as potential suspects is wrong”. See drawing of a man seen by McCanns’ friend
And: “We believe it does show Madeleine in his arms. The description of the pyjamas is accurate enough to believe that is the case.” The McCanns’ friend sees the girl wearing pyjamas like those worn by Madeleine, whom she knows
“GERRY BACK AT WORK” – Gerry McCann is a “cardiologist” – lest we ever forget
DAILY MIRROR front page: “This is the man who took our Madeleine. PARENTS RELEASE SKETCH”
Page 11: “’He was slim with untidy black hair, plastered back. He was hurrying with a child in pink pyjajmaas’” (No songs please)
“’KIDNAPPER’ SEEN BY KATE’S PAL”
Paul Routledge: “All I want to do is put my arms around her and say: ‘there, there’ while she sobs out her grief on my shoulder”
DAILY MAIL front page: “Friends’ fears for ‘increasingly fragile’ Kate”
Pages 8 and 9: “Is Kate at breaking point?” – If she cracks up will the papers like her better? “Friends fear for Maddie’s mother after TV ordeal”
“SPANISH EYES” – The McCanns have launched a private “proxy investigation” in Spain. Under Portuguese law it is illegal to use private detectives while an investigation is ongoing
The mystery man who may have taken her” – Mrs Tanner sees the man. She is later “racked with guilt”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE PARENTS ‘HIDING TRUTH’ – 70 per cent of TV viewers thinks McCanns are lying”
Pages 4 and 5: “BODY LANGUAGE SPECIALIST GIVES HIS VERDICT ON KATE – ‘MUM WOULD BE VERY GOOD POKER PLAYER’.” Robert Phipps watches the interview with Kate McCann on Spanish TV. She is frowning, and expert Phipps says this is indicative of “pain” and stress. Who knew? We do not know if he then voted in the subsequent poll
THE TIMES front page: “Madeleine ‘abductor’” – The white man is of “medium build”
Page 9: “’This is the man who took Madeleine away’” – The Times says the new picture bears “no resemblance to Robert Murat”. The picture has been handed to the McCanns’ detectives who are operating across Europe and North Africa
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “Madeleine ‘abductor’” – This is the man Jane Tanner says she saw at 9:15pm on May 3

Hi Michael! I know you’re the real one but good idea. The fakes in here are about as easy t spot as the fakes at the Tapas Bar.

I don’t know why that I typed clinical instead of coolandcalm.
Fact is Stanford is far too prestigious an institution for someone who cut-and-pastes from wiki.

Perhaps so but normally there’s already a greeting or the people are in close proximity. He got up to walk over to her. If I was going to do that I’d probably give a thoughtful hug because of the circumstances. The double peck on the cheek seemed a bit inappropriate.

what were the mccanns doing while murats house was being searched? maybe this was the time they disposed of her while all the focusd was on him

clinical
I most definitely do know the difference between forensic and criminal, in Britain at least.

Thanks. I find the McCann’s stories funny also. They change like the weather.

I’m guessing cultural.
I live on the continent and a fair bit travelling, kissing on the cheek is common, although I grant you first meeting with a stranger is not common …

Just to avoid confusion Im changing my name.
Seems there is another Michael posting some bad crap and i dont want to be associated with it.

In the minutes before the police were called, where do you think they hid the body? I suspect it was hidden in a car boot.
October 26th, 2007 at 3:52 pm
Stevo, sometimes you are funny. Discribing the abductor who became shorter.

If you ask mods and admin to email me your email details…
I don’t think they saw your message yesterday. I got nothing from them.
October 26th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
I am using theories based on behaviour and how the scene was left - this was done by someone that wanted this hysteria of mass confusion.

I agree. But what was the kissing from the Spanish Interviewer all about?
October 26th, 2007 at 3:49 pm
Kate’s favourite spell
Hubble bubble toil and trouble
Fire burns and cauldron bubbles,
Eye of newt, and leg from frog,
Make my Gerry want a snog

Everybody may not forget that the PJ has been working together with the British police since the first moment.
The PJ is doing a very difficult work. I admire that they got the idea to bring the sniffer dogs to test the Mccanns car, which was hired 25 days after Maddie’s disappearence. The PJ knows much more than they are telling.
I suspect that Maddie remained in that building a longer time after her death. It seems that people of Tapas 9 left to England the day after or two days after.Maddie could have been inside of a big bag, in foetus position, with parfum all over her body to distract eventual dogs, and those people of Tapas 9 could have transport the bag on their way to the airport in Faro and they could have hidden it somewhere, on their way.Improvised grave, that’s why the parents had to remove the body.

Trish Cameron told the Telegraph on May 6 that Gerry said the room window was open and the shutter broken. He also said the door was open. By this, I’m assuming that “door” meant the door facing the car park and not the patio doors.
If Clarence gave a different account to RTE then there’s a huge difference in how the room was found on the night of May 3.

Comment on the Antena3 ‘Fake Tears’ Interview:
I think the McCanns have terrible taste in furniture……
October 26th, 2007 at 3:48 pm
No matter what heppened we all no the Mccanns are sufering but they should face the truth and end all this, they are using taxpayers money.
October 26th, 2007 at 3:47 pm
ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!!
I’m going to launch a web attack against the Daily Mail! I’m not afraid of consequences!!!
Now they say: “Portuguese papers launch savage attack on Kate McCann’s ‘fake’ TV tears”
PURE LYES!!!
They are just spreading hate and xenophobia against the Portuguese!
The mains News sources in Portugal are not publishing anything about the McCanns since more then a week. The only ones with McCanns news is the Correio da Manha, just citing a Spanish crime specialist comment about Kate’s tears, and the 24Horas that everyday has something about the McCanns. But these two newspapers aren’t very “famous” in Portugal!
October 26th, 2007 at 3:47 pm
529. Logic. GM a member of the underworld or some such association.
Seriously, the police do have to investigate such scenarios and that is why they scrutinize the family, friends and acquaintances of missing children.
So why do the McCann’s believe, on the one hand, that they are immune from this standard procedure, and on the other, hire a control-risk management team?
The obvious answer is that they know they are guilty and that they are avoiding detection by attempting to manage the risks of getting caught.
October 26th, 2007 at 3:47 pm
The computer reconstruction has the Tapas checking on the children every 5 minutes. The waiters have the men checking on the children every 20 minutes. In any case, how can mystery man attack M for his own purposes, then kill M or render her unconscious, arrange the toy, open shutter, check not to be caught, get out window and over the security barrier, into parking lot, around to the arch to the street and walk–seemingling strolling–not running … all in 20 minutes ??
Jane Tanner firmly places herself as suspect (IMO) with this artist’s rendering.
She now must account for all her time that evening (IMO). I think she and her husband will be the next to be named suspects.

Ian - glad it made you laugh. I thought we hadn’t heard from Philomena for a while.
Matt - yes, I’ve been looking for half decent donor material of Clarence but surprisingly there’s very few photos of this ‘top’ PR guru out there.
October 26th, 2007 at 3:46 pm
???
Now are you using criminal psychology or psychoanalytic crit to come to that conclusion?
October 26th, 2007 at 3:46 pm
545…???
Don’t be too hasty in excluding the “swinger theory”
There is a rumour circulating in the media that 14 injunctions have been taken in order to prevent publication of “kiss and tell” stories regarding the McCanns.

Karen just loves a fight, take no notice. She a student and they think they know everything… except the difference between criminal and forensic!!

I went to Stanford university a long time ago thhough.
October 26th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
Ian….Yes. I think he said something like none of the children were drugged. There are some wild theories out there…like the new police chief…I’m waiting for the ‘click’..so far, at least for me, nothing convinces me of anything other that the child is gone. Their insistence that the child is alive, is incomprehensible to me unless they are in denial….or know something..

Hope you visit the site again but can understand why you may not. Have found your posts all very interesting and on the ball. Also think that between your views and Will’s this day last week that Madeleine may never get justice.
The whole thing has become a mockery and there are some people who really should hang their heads in shame. But, like I said to Will last week, maybe justice will not be served in this life for those who know what happened and are saying nothing - but in the larger scheme of things - there is always balance. There are a lot of people whose nemisis is yet to come.
