Madeleine McCann: Jane Tanner’s eFit, A Spanish Angel And Wearing Pink Pyjamas
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – 70% DON’T BELIEVE McCANNS”
The McCanns are on the TV in Spain. The show is followed by a phone vote. The people vote, at least some of them do; how many, we are not told. One, two, three..? Gerry is a “cardiologist”
Pages 4 and 5: “Police: Parents are hampering probe.” Angel Galan, head of the Spanish National Police’s kidnap, extortion and murder squad says: “There is no real information to indicate that Madeleine could be in Spain although Mr and Mrs McCann might think so. I think the question is why couldn’t she be in France or in the UK? Why does it have to be Spain, Portugal or Morocco?”
“Drawing that could catch her abductor” – an artist’s impression of a man carrying a child in the vicinity of the McCanns holiday complex on May 3. The man is of average height, of average build, with dark hair and with his facial features not filled in. Do you know him?
The artist was commissioned by the McCanns in light of a person their friend Jane Tanner said she saw on the night Madeleine disappeared
THE SUN front page: “PICTURE SENSATION. He took Maddie – MAN SEEN BY McCANNS’ PAL ON FATEFUL NIGHT”
A drawing of a man. The caption: “Hunted…a drawing of man with child in his arms as seen by Jane Tanner”
Page 13: “MADDIE IN ARMS OF SNATCHER. Pyjamas ‘prove it is her’” – The man is 5ft 6. He is 5ft 10 in the Express. He is “slim”. The girl is wearing pink and white pyjamas. The man is in a maroon shirt, camel coloured trousers and black or brown shoes
Says Clarence Mitchell: “We hope this will go a long was to proving the independent eyewitness account that she was taken by someone and the police’s focus on Kate and Gerry as potential suspects is wrong”. See drawing of a man seen by McCanns’ friend
And: “We believe it does show Madeleine in his arms. The description of the pyjamas is accurate enough to believe that is the case.” The McCanns’ friend sees the girl wearing pyjamas like those worn by Madeleine, whom she knows
“GERRY BACK AT WORK” – Gerry McCann is a “cardiologist” – lest we ever forget
DAILY MIRROR front page: “This is the man who took our Madeleine. PARENTS RELEASE SKETCH”
Page 11: “’He was slim with untidy black hair, plastered back. He was hurrying with a child in pink pyjajmaas’” (No songs please)
“’KIDNAPPER’ SEEN BY KATE’S PAL”
Paul Routledge: “All I want to do is put my arms around her and say: ‘there, there’ while she sobs out her grief on my shoulder”
DAILY MAIL front page: “Friends’ fears for ‘increasingly fragile’ Kate”
Pages 8 and 9: “Is Kate at breaking point?” – If she cracks up will the papers like her better? “Friends fear for Maddie’s mother after TV ordeal”
“SPANISH EYES” – The McCanns have launched a private “proxy investigation” in Spain. Under Portuguese law it is illegal to use private detectives while an investigation is ongoing
The mystery man who may have taken her” – Mrs Tanner sees the man. She is later “racked with guilt”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE PARENTS ‘HIDING TRUTH’ – 70 per cent of TV viewers thinks McCanns are lying”
Pages 4 and 5: “BODY LANGUAGE SPECIALIST GIVES HIS VERDICT ON KATE – ‘MUM WOULD BE VERY GOOD POKER PLAYER’.” Robert Phipps watches the interview with Kate McCann on Spanish TV. She is frowning, and expert Phipps says this is indicative of “pain” and stress. Who knew? We do not know if he then voted in the subsequent poll
THE TIMES front page: “Madeleine ‘abductor’” – The white man is of “medium build”
Page 9: “’This is the man who took Madeleine away’” – The Times says the new picture bears “no resemblance to Robert Murat”. The picture has been handed to the McCanns’ detectives who are operating across Europe and North Africa
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “Madeleine ‘abductor’” – This is the man Jane Tanner says she saw at 9:15pm on May 3

Know that feeling! But why today?

I posted this a few days ago, I just want to know what the pro mccanns would like to add.
This is quite a simple case to analyze.
Just put yourself in the McCanns position and ask yourself what would you do.
You must also understand that under the status they are regarding questioning.
If I happened to be so stupid enough to land myself in the position they are in now with fingers being pointed and eyebrows raised and I knew 100 per cent i was innocent I wouldnt give a rats ass what the PJ charged me with.
I would go straight to an independent, professional who could make available a lie detector test providing any questions that would confirm my innocence.
If the PJ charged me for disclosing information i wouldnt give a shit.
With an independent and close scrutiny of my answers and shown on TV, I would have a guilt free conscience and the public would know it .
The PJ would even dare to attack me for it and the focus could be back on finding my daughter.

You are so right. Loads of major thefts that have been carried out right under people’s noses for exactly that reason.

Have you seen this link then? By the third drawing the swarthy, greasy featureless man has lost his brown coat and beige trousers but developed a nose instead. Now for the eyes, mouth…where’s that photo of Murat?

That’s definitely Gerry McCann’s nose isn’t it? He was tanned and ’swarthy’ by May 3rd.

806. Maybe the abductor would be seen during a very small window - so the abductor assumed the risk that he wouldn’t be stopped. People usually mind their own business and don’t think the worst when they see the “Worst”.

I have no idea why the British Press hasn’t hounded the other Tapas mob. It’s nothing to do with class because it never stops them going after Royalty or politicians/Lords etc.
I have no idea why the Tapas 9 are untouchable. The incredible thing is that they are.
October 26th, 2007 at 6:46 pm
Why would the abductor carry a dead child out - she had to have been disabled in some way - knock on the head - etc.

I have experience of the American school system by way of family and I know it has more multiple choice than in the UK. I also have a real-estate license (multiple choice) and several flying licenses/qualifications. The US licenses were multiple choice and the training for the exams is based on memorising the pool of questions. Oh…and add to that a pathetic 25 question multiple choice quiz for my US driving license.
I am not hot under the collar - I was just defending facts. Sure, in the UK we do have some multiple choice testing but for a driving license, the last time I looked it was 100 questions and not 25 easy ones like in the US system. I know I’m right about poor spelling and math in the US - I see it everyday and I never made any kind of class distinction when I made that claim.

789 — Stevo — “What happened to the rest of the Tapas mob after May 3? Did they all return to England immediately the following day or what?” Good question. I have been baffled by the British tabloids’ dsitance from the rest of the Tapas Nine. The Britsih press in general is usually relentless in pursuit of any angle of a story. Why have we not been reading all along what the McCanns’ friends are up to?
Anyone have an theories on this?

I rarely ever had multiple choice tests in high school and the only time in college was in a psych 101 class. I went to a well respected university and none of my prof’s believed in multiple choice except those in the psych dept. I was English Lit and then went on to Film History and even in film history there was never any multiple choice. 95% of my curricula was written essays and it was tedious work. My friends who were psych majors said their courses were a breeze because their exams were more often than not multiple choice.
As far as SAT tests being the most difficult in the US I don’t know if it’s true and don’t know if it would even matter if it was true. From what I know of my own education for 4 years in Europe and my husband’s education in Asia, along with our foreign (non-American) friends - the European and Asian education systems are far more advanced, especially in science and math than the US’s. This goes for higher education as well. Freshman courses in most US colleges and universities are equal to high school classes in Asia and Europe in my experience.

Ok… imagine you are a writter. You writting a story about a beautiful little girl who get abducted. Your main character plan everything, each movement, each action… then he walks out, with her unconcious, in the middle of the road incurring in considerable risk.
Would you send the story to an editor??? Would you?

Sorry, I got distracted by travel brochures to the Carribean because its cold here.
I believe in my prediction because:
1) I believe the British interrogation will be more intense
2) You can see the animosity between Kate and Gerry at the end of the Spanish interview.
I don’t think the loyalty between them will last much longer. I think Gerry will try to salvage whatever is left and will tell all just so that the pressure is taken away and he can get off free and resume a career. Kate is holding him down. With his warning not to say anything till the mic is off shows that he does not trust her.
I really believe the British interrogation will crack them. No interuptions to translate. Just direct questioning from seasoned interrogators. Since I am married to a cop and I have alot of privileged info, I know that if you conduct a proper interrogation, it is extremely stressful and is meant to confuse a suspect. This works only if the suspect is lying. If the suspect is truthful, he/she will not be tripped up. My husband has always said: If you are telling the truth, you have memory recall to explain things. You should be able to tell your story backwards, forwards and anywhere inbetween and it should never change. Liers get tripped up when asked to start from different points in an event. One example is: ” Mr. Mcann, tell us exactly what you did from the moment you left the restaurant to check on your children. ” Now tell us before you saw Maddy in bed, what did you do exactly before this.” Without memory recall, these constant back and forth questions will be frustrating.
To interrogate someone, believe it or not, is a very important part of investigation. You absolutely need to know how to do it properly, or it is useless. I think the British will get their best interrogator to do it. Not all police officers are skilled in this aspect of investigation

I remembered someone put Jane Tanner’s Friendsreunited entry in here one time.
I just looked in that site and there’s no entry for Jane Tanner anymore (the one from Exeter that is).

776 — Judith C — “…why hand all this high level help to the McCanns on a plate in the first place and by making them celebrities endorsed by the rich and powerful pack, try to put them beyond the reach of the law?” I think initially people of all types were very sympathetic to the McCanns, and those people with power were happy to use their power to help them. (I think that’s human. When you are moved by someone’s plight, you do what you can for that individual, even if there are other people like them you can’t help.) Also, there may have been some England-versus-Portugal stuff that went on in the first weeks after Madeleine disappeared. Once efforts take on momentum, the powerful people who made those efforts don’t necessarily have to be involved anymore. So, if those powerful people change their minds, it may be some time before the momentum is reversed. I don’t see what is in it at this point for people who are not being paid (i.e., lawyers and Clarence Mitchell) to help the McCanns.
The PJ — is that singular or plural? — appear to have worked doggedly on this case, in spite of interfernce. I predict they will persist until there’s at least one confession or one arrest.

coolandcalm,
I’ve never been to any Mark Warner resort but have been to a few which are similar with what we Yanks would call a resort with the option to buy. So some of the villas are owned by the resort company and others are privately owned and then there is a regular neighborhood surrounding the resort.
So I cannot understand why you commented that the Mark Warner Resort in PdL is a “logistal nightmare”?

I’ve done it again, given my real name! Now the reason is that I’m so used to rattling it off and the boxes, which usually contain ‘Judith C’ and website address, are now empty. So I rattled off my full name. Does it matter? I’ve nothing to hide so nothing to fear!!! And DNA doesn’t count any more !! However, perhaps I should still be ‘Judith C’ - and can I have my bits and pieces put back into the boxes? How do I do this?

Did not wish to put you on the defensive. Was just reporting my experience as you did yours. Not necessary to get hot under the collar because someone disagree’s.
You are innacurate in believing that multiple choice is the only way of testing in the USA. Multiple choice is a very” small” componant in testing in primary, secondary and college level tests. It also depends on which level and discipline you are testing. Written essay’s, labs, oral, to name a few. our SAT’S are the most difficult. We try to seperate those who can and those who cannot. Based on intelligence. Not beacause you are born into a certain class.

Ironic.
Please go look for that guy in any place where people with “bipolar inteligency” if I am permited to create this term… only someone that is a genius on one side and a stupid on the other could have done it!
Do you know what I think? The guy who got Madeleine deserves a death penalty or even torture for months and then death!!!
Because he was too stupid. He did everything so well, he got to hide any clue, that the police even now can’t solve the case, he acted with exact precision and time but then walked around showing his face and his pray to everybody!!!
Too stupid and really deserves to die.

“A top man from the Guardia Civil(Civil Guard) in Spain, has said there is absolutely no reason to believe that Madeleine could be in Spain. He finds it strange that the mcs have started this phone-line here.
I expect we’ll shortly have the mcs reporting all sorts of sightings in Spain to prove their point and as the line is set up by themselves how are we to know if these were genuine reports?”
—————————–
As the McScams have set up a private hot-line manned by private detectives for the public to privately report sightings, real or imagined, give tip-offs, and generally waste their call money and the McScams and Clarence’s time …what liability is there on the Portuguese police to bother with it? So McScams nul, Portuguese un!

Btw, it was that website I was looking for earlier (and found myself, after searching through old, old posts!).

What happened to the rest of the Tapas mob after May 3? Did they all return to England immediately the following day or what?
When were the McCanns due to leave?
