Madeleine McCann: Jane Tanner’s eFit, A Spanish Angel And Wearing Pink Pyjamas
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – 70% DON’T BELIEVE McCANNS”
The McCanns are on the TV in Spain. The show is followed by a phone vote. The people vote, at least some of them do; how many, we are not told. One, two, three..? Gerry is a “cardiologist”
Pages 4 and 5: “Police: Parents are hampering probe.” Angel Galan, head of the Spanish National Police’s kidnap, extortion and murder squad says: “There is no real information to indicate that Madeleine could be in Spain although Mr and Mrs McCann might think so. I think the question is why couldn’t she be in France or in the UK? Why does it have to be Spain, Portugal or Morocco?”
“Drawing that could catch her abductor” – an artist’s impression of a man carrying a child in the vicinity of the McCanns holiday complex on May 3. The man is of average height, of average build, with dark hair and with his facial features not filled in. Do you know him?
The artist was commissioned by the McCanns in light of a person their friend Jane Tanner said she saw on the night Madeleine disappeared
THE SUN front page: “PICTURE SENSATION. He took Maddie – MAN SEEN BY McCANNS’ PAL ON FATEFUL NIGHT”
A drawing of a man. The caption: “Hunted…a drawing of man with child in his arms as seen by Jane Tanner”
Page 13: “MADDIE IN ARMS OF SNATCHER. Pyjamas ‘prove it is her’” – The man is 5ft 6. He is 5ft 10 in the Express. He is “slim”. The girl is wearing pink and white pyjamas. The man is in a maroon shirt, camel coloured trousers and black or brown shoes
Says Clarence Mitchell: “We hope this will go a long was to proving the independent eyewitness account that she was taken by someone and the police’s focus on Kate and Gerry as potential suspects is wrong”. See drawing of a man seen by McCanns’ friend
And: “We believe it does show Madeleine in his arms. The description of the pyjamas is accurate enough to believe that is the case.” The McCanns’ friend sees the girl wearing pyjamas like those worn by Madeleine, whom she knows
“GERRY BACK AT WORK” – Gerry McCann is a “cardiologist” – lest we ever forget
DAILY MIRROR front page: “This is the man who took our Madeleine. PARENTS RELEASE SKETCH”
Page 11: “’He was slim with untidy black hair, plastered back. He was hurrying with a child in pink pyjajmaas’” (No songs please)
“’KIDNAPPER’ SEEN BY KATE’S PAL”
Paul Routledge: “All I want to do is put my arms around her and say: ‘there, there’ while she sobs out her grief on my shoulder”
DAILY MAIL front page: “Friends’ fears for ‘increasingly fragile’ Kate”
Pages 8 and 9: “Is Kate at breaking point?” – If she cracks up will the papers like her better? “Friends fear for Maddie’s mother after TV ordeal”
“SPANISH EYES” – The McCanns have launched a private “proxy investigation” in Spain. Under Portuguese law it is illegal to use private detectives while an investigation is ongoing
The mystery man who may have taken her” – Mrs Tanner sees the man. She is later “racked with guilt”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE PARENTS ‘HIDING TRUTH’ – 70 per cent of TV viewers thinks McCanns are lying”
Pages 4 and 5: “BODY LANGUAGE SPECIALIST GIVES HIS VERDICT ON KATE – ‘MUM WOULD BE VERY GOOD POKER PLAYER’.” Robert Phipps watches the interview with Kate McCann on Spanish TV. She is frowning, and expert Phipps says this is indicative of “pain” and stress. Who knew? We do not know if he then voted in the subsequent poll
THE TIMES front page: “Madeleine ‘abductor’” – The white man is of “medium build”
Page 9: “’This is the man who took Madeleine away’” – The Times says the new picture bears “no resemblance to Robert Murat”. The picture has been handed to the McCanns’ detectives who are operating across Europe and North Africa
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “Madeleine ‘abductor’” – This is the man Jane Tanner says she saw at 9:15pm on May 3

I’ve never believed them from day 1. I’ve never had a moment’s thought that made me change that opinion. I think perhaps there were some recreational drugs involved in their circle of friends and that was the motive behind a cover up. I have no idea how Madeleine may have died and I hope she’s alive by some miracle. But it’s too long now and I doubt that very much.

Stevo, not “yes”, apparently he is on a list of people to sue now. I wonder how many others are on that naughty or nice list?

I think there’s a lot of people out there who want facts. I.e evidence that will stand up in court.

Muddywaters: “Remembering lots of details is difficult - you remember what you focus the most on - the child’s legs….”
I don’t believe she saw the legs. So I suppose if you believe that, it makes more sense. But I don’t believe she saw a great deal of those legs or lots of actual pajamas.

Stevo: “I can’t see how Tanner could have walked past Gerry and Jerry (ok Jeremy) without being seen by either of them - regardless of whether she went down the alley or the street. This is why Jeremy Wilkins was so adamant about it.”
I agree, she would have had to go all the way around the pool (towards where the Paynes were staying), to have completely missed them and to have gone in an opposite direction from Gerry.

Swannie, taking legal action against the paper’s reporting a specialist’s opinion of the interview (he admits he hasn’t met them) and the poll on the public’s reaction? Glad to hear they have a list of people to sue…

970 Garth,
Realised the argument is too strong?
Care to consider why that might be?
Come on Garth - whats your angle?

I think I’m wasting my time talking to you so lets just end it there eh? And before you say it, I’m avoiding nothing. Your biased beyond belief and not worth debating with.
And Garth …. you are not worth the time of day! You’ve taken me on before on what my feelings are regarding this very sad case, and if I recall correctly you came a very poor second place! YOU, and no-one else on this earth can justify leaving those children alone! And I will repeat what I have said many, many times …. the McCann’s caused the circumstances that led to Madeleine’s disappearance …… NOW PROVE ME WRONG!?
October 26th, 2007 at 8:33 pm
972. Susannah - Exactly! The scientists at the Birmingham lab will have their hands tied for many years over this case.
October 26th, 2007 at 8:33 pm
Mr Cabrera, 50, did not restrict his comments to Mrs McCann. The Madrid-based psychiatrist - who admitted he had never met the couple - said that Mr McCann’s only concern during the interview was to “control” his wife.
YES…
And no wonder Gerry even had to tell his wife to not answer the bloody phone. How controlling and demeaning is that?

Stevo,
Thank you for your earlier acknowledgment.
I never meant to make any one less or more.
I have always wanted wisdom, not knowledge,
and part of that striving was to understand how people work.
There is too many conflicts here to make it a straight path, hence I vacillate in turns.
I think that the Tapas 10th member was very important in the classist British society.
The kind of scandal that would forever destroy the ruling classes.
On that note I bid you goodnight, have fun, and I genuinely have to say thank you
for being with me on this particular journey.,

John Buck, British ambassador to Portugal travelled to the Algarve on 4 May. Considering that there was no proof of abduction and that a missing child scenario was still in existence (as per PR man Wolfall) this seems mighty hasty. Oh and of course Buck resigned his post a few months later.
October 26th, 2007 at 8:32 pm
Maybe Tapas 7 were doing like a childrens’ teasing game? Saying: Nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah we’re immune to you (PJ) just like a British diplomat?
Or it was just another one of those crrrrrzy McChicannery mistranslations. The Tapas 7 said to PJ:
“We’re mooning you.” As they flashed their pearly white bottoms from across the cold dark Atlantic channel.
The possibilities with the word ‘immunity’ uttered in a their ‘posh’ middle class accents are innumerable.

STEVO
I now do not believe a word coming from the mCcmonsters
or their palls everything they say must be reversed also what if the apartment door was actually locked all night for what ever reasons and I think the worst possible eg drugs swinging imho ? Then something went wrong, and the solution became ‘abduction’, and that they never locked it because of fear of fire etc. now they could blame some unknown ‘faceless’ person Any thoughts please ?

I think so too…but you know what? Doesn’t that show how controlling he is? Something so simple as Kate’s phone ringing and Gerry is there telling her not to answer it.
October 26th, 2007 at 8:30 pm
950 Garth - actually I just realised, you have summed up why this was released.
It says ’stop looking at anything except our story of abduction’.
These people say they want to clear their names and yet they do nothing to clear their names.
Where is their complete and detailed schedule of events?
Where is the proof of paternity (and maternity)?
Why dont they stop the charade and allow a real tough journalist to ask anything they like?
Whats your angle?

I hope to God Gary Glitter hasn’t been released early from Cambodia or Vietnam or wherever he was incarcerated. Maybe he was there doing the karaoke singing Leader of the Tapas Gang!

You keep misunderstanding my point.
I know there’s a building code and construction/remodelling has to pass code. It does in England and on that subject, it’s of a far higher safety code than anything in America.
My general point is that in America you have simple tests compared to the UK and parts of Europe and more things need testing than in Europe. Why are you arguing with facts?
October 26th, 2007 at 8:27 pm
It has been said that Gordon Brown is blocking the lab results from being released.
It is assumed this is to protect the McCanns.
Perhaps it is to protect someone else whose DNA will have been found mixed with Madeleines.
Kate and Gerry get out now, you are going to take the fall.
Who was the 10th person at the table.

A lot of very tenacious journalists are giving this case a very wide birth, despite airing their views in private. Apparently it wouldn’t be a wise move to rock the boat on this one. Same seems applies to some very experienced cops in the UK.
This leads me to repeat - this is all bollox, there will be no body and no justice.”

Will:
Any idea why these journalists and experienced cops think it would be unwise to rock the boat? Are you hinting at something nasty here like the mob, or something like M15 or a politician, or someone big in the media or business?
Here is something that happened to me this week, and this story is 100% straight up. I boarded a train and saw a man I know who happens to be a judge. In fact he’d been hearing a case in the Crown Court and was on his way home. We talked about this and that and then I raised the Mc Cann case, actually because I wanted his opinion on DNA evidence in general. Conversation killer or what? He just said he hadn’t been following the McCann case then he leaned over and picked up a newspaper that someone had left, started reading it and blanked me out. This wasn’t like him, normally a very chatty and courteous guy. And whoever heard of a Judge wanting to read someone else’s tatty paper?
All very strange. There’s been quite a bit of bull on this site but as I say this really happened - hope he isn’t reading this!

dave s,
You should recheck as to exactly what kind of web site you’re on. This is not Mother Theresa’s Pray for the Poor Children of the World. Org.
If you want to hear religious mumbo jumbo and cries to Jesus-Buddha-Allah then please go to a different site.
However, no one here is making fun of Madeleine. That is a pathetic excuse the McCann apologists always cry whenever someone criticises the Mcs with smart humour.
Anyhooooo, what are you knitting?

I wonder about Kate working 2 days a week.
If you have a full time nanny then why not work all week? It does make me think that Kate found raising children a difficult task. Some women are naturals at it. Because they liked their time away from the kids I don’t think she’s one of those women. Which begs the question “just how good was she at looking after kids?”
