The Missouri Highway Patrol has been quietly testing a new scanning device that can detect the presence of meth with only the click of a button.
To law enforcement, it could be the future of crime-fighting technology.
To meth dealers and manufacturers, this might signal the turning point in the war against one of the country’s greatest drug scourges.
But before police can begin widespread use of the scanner, it has to overcome several hurdles.
The company needs to confirm its reliability while securing enough investment to bring the device to market. The scanner models will cost between $2,000-$5,500, but the price could drop after several years.
Civil libertarians and defense attorneys are also raising concerns about the device’s use in the prosecution of drug offenses, although no prosecutors yet have submitted evidence derived from the scanner.
Regardless of the obstacles, the meth scanner will likely debut in the coming months.

Craig, nice try but I’m not even going to bother with your Chemistry lesson because obviously you know everything about molecules and synthesis already aparrently.
what you wrote not only formerly,but latterly was completely wrong. I was demonstrating basically for people like you craig who have no deep understanding of Chemical structures the difference in drug type so you could understand basically what was being said. Instead you insist upon me going into detail you could not possibly even comment upon. What do you know about mole fractions? intramolecular hydrogen bonds? The cis orientation of the methyl and methylene groups? If you did, you would know that the equilibrium is moved altogether, but in the case of respective trans orientation the mole fraction of this conformation amounts to approximately 22.5% give or take a couple of % for the secondary amino alcohol and approximately 19% give or take another couple of % for the tertiary amino alcohol. The the hydrogen bonds energies are different from the strength of the absorption bands of the groups in the IR spectra. The secondary band of the free hydroxy group, G0 OH/N is –0.8 kcal/mole, where the associated hydroxy group, it is –0.9 kcal/mole; the values for the tertiary hydroxy amine are 0.7 and –0.8 kcal/mole and in a completely different molecular arrangment. You just look totally stupid now
