Madeleine McCann: Jose Cabrera Says, Read My Lips And The Ambassador Writes
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – ‘BE KIND TO KATE’. Mother’s heartfelt plea after astonishing attack”
Says Kate McCann’s mother, Susan Healy: “Please be kinder to her. She has enough to cope with. Yes, she is distressed at times and she can’t smile that often at the
moment but she is very strong and she is going to fight on to get Madeleine back”
Oh: “People are saying she’s at breaking point but she’s not going to have a breakdown”
The “heartfelt plea” comes after an “astonishing attack” on “GP Kate” by a Spanish psychiatrist who saw her on Spanish TV.
Jose Cabrera runs a private practice in Madrid. He says: “Kate’s face does not express any emotion whatsoever or feeling. When people cry they move the muscles in their face, and she didn’t move one single muscle, just like a poker player. That is significant”
And: “Her performance brings us the certainty that she is hiding something. The interview was non-spontaneous and it gives us the impression that it was a pose staged by the couple.” He tells the newspaper Correio da Manha: “Any Englishman is cold, but she has something else – her personality is not normal”
Says Englishman Clarence Mitchell: “A few days ago Kate was criticised for not showing enough emotion and then when she does cry she is criticised too. Everything that Kate and Gerry said on that interview was totally genuine. They have nothing to hide. The people who are making these allegations should be very sure about what they are saying. Our lawyers are watching the media coverage very carefully in both Portugal and Britain and action will be taken against anything we feel has gone too far”
“LIP READERS DRAFTED IN AFTER POLICE GAFFE – Says a “source”: “The cameras were set up in the interview suite at Portimao during the two days the McCanns were interrogated and made suspects. But when detectives went to examine the tapes afterwards, they realised that they hadn’t picked up any sound. It then got really farcical because they made an approach to lip readers to try to get the words to go with the visuals on the tape”
DAILY MAIL front page: “Kate stunned by psychiatrists ‘vile attack’”
“Madeleine: McCanns consider suing after Kate accused of ‘putting on a circus act’ with her tears on TV”
Jose Cabrera analysed the couple’s television interview on Wednesday for the Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha. He is billed therein as a “forensic psychiatrist and facial expression specialist”. He is media-friendly doctor with something to say, and the need to say something
Says Cabrera: “All he [Gerry McCann] worried about was controlling her. It’s extraordinary. Whenever she opened her mouth to talk he squeezed her hand - and all this because the key to this mystery is definitely with her”
“Murat feels ‘forgotten’ and ‘desperate’” - Robert Murat’s lawyer Francisco Pagarete says: “Mr Murat has been living with this for a long time now and it is time the police admit they have no evidence against him. He is desperate to get his life back. If the inspectors want another interview, we are willing. Mr Murat is very keen to see the case against him finished”
The Mail is running an online poll: “Do you think Kate McCann’s tears were genuine?” It cares
This poll is not to be confused with the paper’s other urgent polls:
“Where do you think Tottenham will finish this season?”
“Has Strictly Come Dancing become too competitive?”
“Is Nigella Lawson getting too fat?”
DAILY MIRROR: “QUIZ ME OR CLEAR ME, SAYS MURAT”
Says Suspect No. 1 Robert Murat: “Re-interview me - or clear me”
THE SUN: “’Poker face’ Kate set to sue”
“Angry Kate and Gerry McCann may sue over claims this week’s emotional TV interview was ‘staged like theatre’”
(The McCanns have already threatened to sue Portuguese weekly newspaper Tal e Qual, which accused them of killing their daughter, and the daily tabloid 24 Horas, which claimed Mr McCann was not Madeleine’s biological father)
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE SKETCH IS A LIE – Cops blast McCann ‘fantasy’”
Says an unnamed source “close to the investigation”: “There is only the evidence of one person that this man was ever there. Nobody else saw him. There is a waft of the scent of a red herring’’
THE TIMES: “’You have many more abductions than Portugal, but nobody talks about that’ - Lisbon’s ambassador to London tells our correspondents how the Madeleine McCann case left him heavy-hearted”
“Antonio Santana Carlos is swamped by emotional letters from the British public about the disappearance of a little girl”
It is a mixed postbag – “the impassioned camp of Portuguese-blamers, joined by those who condemn the parents, with a lunatic fringe unhealthily excited by the case and who think that they know where the body is”
The rest of us just watch the parents, watch the telly, watch the headlines…

I hope this helps:
“Jury trials can be requested for criminal cases but are rare. Civil cases do not have jury trials. Defendants are presumed innocent and have the right of appeal and the right to consult with an attorney in a timely manner, at government expense if needed. They can confront and question witnesses against them, present evidence on their behalf, and have access to government- held evidence. These rights were generally followed in practice.”

I went to this site and was absolutely disgusted, no wonder people don’t give psychics any credence. This is the fictitious invention of a sick and perverted mind, for a start, no child of 3 going on 4 would talk like that whether in “spirit” or not. This is just dreadful and should be dumped in the nearest cyber garbage bin for the rubbish it is.

I am still at a loss as to why they removed him? I defended his right to free speech and now I am being removed. He seemed intelligent although I did not agree with his position he has that right. I have tolerated some less than courtious remarks from certain posters as well as mods and adm simply because my answers did not meet with there approval.
Be careful what you sayBig Brother is watching you.
How can we expect justice for Madeleine when you are not even allowed to express an opinion. Poor Madeleine is trapped in a system that will not allow the truth to be revealed.

I listened to the end of Spanish interview at around the 12:53min mark or slightly after: Gerry: ‘We’re completely together in this and we’re united in the search for Madeleine, her [Gerry quickly corrects himself] our daughter’. Her daugher? our daughter? you ask.
Personally I think he says our twice - it is his Glaswegian accent, but he does stumble!
Listening again,I noticed how difficult Kate finds it to talk about Madeleine - sighing deeply after mentioing how happy and special she is. They don’t seem to want to talk about her which is unusal imo. When bereaved (and this is probably that) most people seem to want to reactivate memories and talk about how much the person meant to them in detail, often to the discomfort of others!
Will asked - who will be the David Kelly of this case - well did you notice how frequently Gerry mention that they will be eliminated (without the expected reference to the enquiry) LOL ?

Canada Says:
“Hideki and Man on the hill
folow my link in 349 and go to 12:40 on the interview time…you will hear it clearly”
Yes, I heard it. Gerry first says “her” and changes it to “our” — “our daughter”. It is indeed a crucially revealing slip.
If I heard that correctly he actually says “her” twice, like stuttering, before going to “our”.
Also, this is JUST AFTER he mishandled his sedation answer by saying there was “absolutely no suggestion we sedated Madeleine” and then gets visibly flustered and corrects himself to cover all the children. His expression is a dead give-away that he had memorized what to say and became terribly worried when he blurted out the “wrong” answer.
Why was he so worried about his wrong answer? A natural thing would have to just continue saying… “or any of the children.” But Gerry is surely thinking of the so-called tests done on the twins’ hair, and his spun out lie is that there is no evidence that the twins — the children– were sedated. His “wrong” answer would make it appear (he feared) that they have tested some of Madeleine’s hair or blood. THAT is why he flinches and grimaces before correcting himself.
So just after he flubs the sedation answer, he gets hit with the fatherhood question, and he does his stuttering answer which is in effect a blurting out that Madeleine is “her daughter”.
Who said Gerry is not an emotional guy? LOL
Thanks so much for pointing that out, Canada!

Trust me, I’m a doctor: “Is there any EU ruling on being tried in your own country rather than in the one in which the crime was committed, anyone? The defence line that “they can’t get a fair trial” would possibly stand up more in Portugal than in the UK where, in spite of the weight of public opinion, the media are almost solidly pro-McCann.”
You know, I’m not really sure about the EU thing, I don’t think there is one limiting another country prosecuting you, I think extradition laws become entangled in such things (but I’m sure you already know that and the extradition laws seem to be simplified within the EU, as it is no longer looked at as just extradition but more as a warrant, I think?), but I’m not 100% sure. Hopefully someone with some law sense can answer!
As I said, I’m not sure, but I would be curious about the answer as well; so I hope someone can fill us in.
October 28th, 2007 at 8:20 am
831 - That’s exactly what the McCanns and the British media seem to be saying; their tone seems to be verging on racist/xenophobic. Against a country which is one of our oldest allies. I’m imagining the line their defence might take, not justifying it.

Point taken re. jury trial in Portugal. Is there any EU ruling on being tried in your own country rather than in the one in which the crime was committed, anyone? The defence line that “they can’t get a fair trial” would possibly stand up more in Portugal than in the UK where, in spite of the weight of public opinion, the media are almost solidly pro-McCann.

I haven’t actually researched this myself, but there was a claim by a poster that the Portuguese legal system is different in that they typically don’t have a jury, but that they have three judges decide (post 440 by Thea). Although, I think the accused may request a jury? I wonder how hiring PR firms would tie into this? I mean, I know the typical claim is that all the press means that it will be an unfair trial, but has there ever been a case of involvement of PR interfering with a trial? I suppose not, as it wouldn’t automatically infringe on the right of the accused typically, unless someone higher up had the PR and a lesser person involved in the case thought such a thing harmed their chances. Sorry, just thinking out loud as I am trying to look at this from all angles (I will admit, I do fail to see this from all angles at times). Also, I think many have their doubts that guilty or not, they will ever stand trial in the UK (as this happened in Portugal, but anything is possible I suppose).

Stig, sorry, I’m a bit late answering you. I don’t think they should have taken the twins to the numerous search sites, but I think it may have been good if one parent (Gerry appears to be the stronger one or they could have switched off ), went out and looked a bit more than they did, but I suppose they may have really needed one another at that time. If Madeleine was abducted, I imagine they went through the feeling helpless moments.
I do disagree with the message to Madeleine. If she is alive, she may eventually have access to it. But that may just be a personal thing for me and possibly Thea (I don’t want to speak for her), and they may feel that they are still connected to her both as a parent and possibly on a more spiritual level.
I try not to comment on the emotions they give that much (although I do pay attention to language- in that I think it also can be odd, not slip-ups though, before I’m called a complete hypocrite). But I think it is very possible that one or both of them may be on some type of anti-depressant which may impact such things. I have no way of knowing though.

I haven’t posted on here much since the site went down for about 3 hours a few weeks ago. That was in the wake of quite a lot of sh*t stirring SEEMINGLY (though not certainly, and certainly not exclusively) from some of our American cousins. I would like to state one reason why I have not posted much.Firstly, I believe the McCanns are definitely quilty of neglecting three small children, by leaving them on their own, regularly. Secondly, I STRONGLY SUSPECT that they have routinely and inappropriately sedated their children (ie. to facilitate their social life, or just have peace and quiet). This suspicion is based on the body language (ear-tugging) of Gerry McCann and his non-answers (”there is no suggestion..”, “ludicrous suggestion…”, etc.) when questioned on this subject, as well as on Kate McCann’s father’s statement that the children may have been given Calpol to help them sleep (what is the opinion of the BMA/GMC/makers of Calpol (if the sedative WAS Calpol) on this?). Thirdly, these two points undoubtedly contributed to the disappearance of Madeline McCann. Fourthy, I suspect, like a lot of you, that the Tapas 9 are concealing certain facts, probably to protect their careers, incomes, etc., if not to avoid a prison sentence. Lastly, accidental death, kidnap, manslaughter, etc. are just theories, in my opinion - often well-grounded, and, if true, then I hope the PJ get the evidence needed to bring the truth into the open.To conclude, what worries me about these posts is that, if Kate and Gerry are ever charged, their defence will almost certainly argue that they cannot recieve a fair trial as they have already been tried in the blogosphere - it could take years simply to picj the jury! Those of us who wish to see justice for Madeline could actually be playing into their hands here and now. These are clever, shrewd people, with clever, shrewd (and rich) friends.

Ahh, they’ll worship Prince Charles next. Brilliant.
“The prince is well aware that he is the subject of distant adoration. He has allowed his framed portraits to be sent to Chief Jack and the little band of believers.”
Whatever makes them happy.
And sorry, Andrew. But it worked in lizards and machine elves (I’d assume that could take the role of Anorak or us?)
