I agree with you…the McCanns are a couple of Martin Brunts for using the fund money to pay their mortgage.
That’s what I like about Cockney Rhyming Slang…new ones pop up just when you need them.

and with this programme you want to prove that the girl on the photo is not the girl they claim to be. yeah right.
Please understand, I do think you are doing an important job. And I can clearly see you are very committed to what you do. But please don’t get carried away..

I don’t think that avenue has been explored yet but I’m now waiting for the McCanns to demand the Millenium Falcon is searched from top to bottom and Han Solo be made an arguido.

Russell, when the questions enclose it, loses the sympathy: ” I have not any more anything to say to you. I am not going to disgrace the promise that I assumed with Kate and Gerry. They want to have the executive control on the whole information that is spread “.

You can’t tell someone’s financial status by the cars in the drive but you can have a pretty good idea as to a person’s creditworthiness from the house and cars in the drive.
I did a course on money laundering over here in the USA. I think you’re very naive in making generalisations about observations which give clues to a person’s financial standing.

I did not support the fund but knowing just how much the McCanns are in hock to their creditors I would have given my life savings and donated a kidney to keep them from being re-housed in council accommodation. (not really)
It’s funny how an extended family from so many professional backgrounds and with undoubted ability to get people to part with their money has to raid the piggy bank for a few thousand pounds.

Steady Hughie boy. I never mentioned the state of their finances - just the immorality of using other peoples money to fund their lifestyle.
To the best of my knowledge no other victim of such a ‘crime’ has asked the general public for money and most of them were in a far worse situation than these parasites.
As for your financial situation - thank you for the update, but I really couldn’t give a shit.

Hugh,
May I ask why you felt the McCanns deserving of charity yet all the other parents of missing children in the UK don’t seem to be very important? Or is it because they don’t have JK Rowling or Beckham or Branson backing them?

Jacqueline……I don’t want to ‘go hunting paedophiles on the internet….they give me the creeps…they are unspeakably vile twisted , I don’t want to enter their head-space, and feel I’ve entered the realm of pure evil…

Why are we discussing blonde children? Madeleine wasn’t blonde anyway - but her SISTER is - why didn’t they take her instead if they wanted a true blonde?
And we all know that there is no kidnapped child in the Rif mountains - at least, there might be, but this Metro crowd haven’t found one. If they had, surely they would have stayed at the scene, called the local police, called back to base to ask them to get Interpol asap, taken pictures of the child and her “nappers” which would no doubt have graced the front pages of every paper in the land by now. Instead, they apparently found her, made a call to Interpol, then went on their way because it was not the child they were looking for.
I read some comments on other forums congratulating the Metro team on their find, saying how happy the “found” child’s parents will be. Are we actually going round the bend in this country? Are the newspapers actually scouting round for people of compromised intelligence to make comments?
Anyway, I understand the Moroccan police know nothing about any child being found so let’s scotch the story once and for all.

I don’t know what everybody is so worried about, the McCanns will have to pay the money back anyway when they get put away.
October 30th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
This has probably been subject to detailed discussion here.
But i’d like to know if you’ve read about anyone who after the release of the Jane Tanner’s abductor e-fit (the egg with hair and limbs), thought “Ohhhh - that guy!!!”.
Seriously, have you seen any evidence that the cartoon actually triggered any reactions from someone who was at the ocean club at that time. Who in their right mind would expect a reaction from that?
We really have to question what is the intention of people that release these things to the press - surely they must have a sense of humour beyond most of us.

The biometric passports have nothing in common with these analyses, which make it possible to identify someone with big age difference, different position of the face, sometimes with very bad quality of pictures. These are the kind of programmes used by Interpol, which could show Bouchra was not Madeleine, though they look very alike. They are so precise, that it has already happened they did not recognise two pictures of the same person. This was the case of our first tests on a young girl called Katrien De Cuyper. The programme did not recognize two pictures of her coming from her parents, but it recognized one of these pictures being similar to another one, found in the archives of the Zandvoort paedophile network. We are not talking about grotty little programmes one can buy for 500-euro, but professional programmes that cost 30.000-euros.

The fund was set up on may 17th and 3.1.3 states financial support for the family so it seems people who donated will just have to accept they donated to help towards keeping the mccanns in the lifestyle they have become accustomed to.
Funds will be paid to Madeleine’s Fund: Leaving No Stone Unturned Limited: Company Registration Number - 6248215
3. The objects of the Foundation are:
3.1.1 To secure the safe return to her family of Madeleine McCann who was abducted in Praia da Luz, Portugal on Thursday 3rd May 2007;
3.1.2 To procure that Madeleine’s abduction is thoroughly investigated and that her abductors, as well as those who played or play any part in assisting them, are identified and brought to justice; and
3.1.3 To provide support, including financial assistance, to Madeleine’s family.
3.2 If the above objects are fulfilled then the objects of the Foundation shall be to pursue such purposes in similar cases arising in the United Kingdom, Portugal or elsewhere.

I find your analysis very plausible, but just one question: are you sure that the British press and government don’t know who they’re siding with? I feel that the official involvement in the case is because they know the McCanns are guilty of something (not sure what at this moment) and that, for some reason that we don’t know, the repercussions would affect somebody who was in some way important. I know that sounds a bit vague, but since when has the British government got involved in kidnapping cases?

Thanks. If I understand the Babelfish translation it doesn’t actually attribute the original quote to any named person? Though the article is quite clear that Sol believe they were told that there was ‘a pact’.
Could just be one of those things where it would indeed make sense not to have lots of different people speaking and potentially creating confusion. i.e. It doesn’t necessarily imply any wrongdoing, though I agree it could be read that way.
October 30th, 2007 at 1:04 pm
To Stevo and Teddy bear,
What makes you think you know anything about anyones finances. I am a contributor to the fund as I believe that this child was abducted and if my miserable few quid can help to corner the depraved people who abduct children then I feel it is value for money. I also am aware that when I contributed that the fund was also to protect the welfare of the family. I have no problem whatsoever in them using the fund for this.
I dont know how you can figure out someone elses financial status by what cars are in the drive. I drive a nice car, nice house and kids wife well dressed all paid for by the bank and maintained by my salary. However if I had to take six months off work unpaid I think we would be all in a cardboard box such are the extent of my borrowings. My wife and I are only recently after finishing paying off our student loans totalling £94,000. Our borrowings are based on our projected incomes in good jobs as would I imagine would be the Mcanns.

I think that the tabloids will next state that Madeleine is in the care of Jabba the Hutt as a dancing girl.
October 30th, 2007 at 1:04 pm
274. Dee, yes but such a transparent lie? The comments that they’ve received strong leads regarding Madeleine are easy to fake. But to say you’re responsible for having located another kidnapped child is incredibly stupid. In less than a handful of hours this story (only being carried by Daily Mail - no other news org not even another UK agency - is reportinig this) is already being contested.
