Madeleine McCann: A Titanic Struggle With The Germans And Slavery In Morocco
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “IS MADELEINE A CHILD SLAVE IN MOROCCO?”
“Madeleine McCann may have been condemned to a life of slavery working as a ‘little maid’ for a rich Arab family…” Or not
Page 5: “’Madeleine will be used as a little maid’” – so suggests Inspector Hicham Alaoui of the Moroccan Police in El Hajeb near Fez
Little maids, notes the paper, are “collected by rich families as ‘curiosities’ as well as servants. A woman from a group called Ecpatuk says such children are “vulnerable to abuse”. The Express sys the girls are abused “physically, emotionally and sexually”. Can Madeleine McCann be among them? Maybe…
“Sacked detective called in to help with the probe” – Chief Inspector Goncalo Amaral is talking with new chief Paulo Rebelo
“Fury over magazine ‘sick’ ads” – German magazine titanic has lampooned the case, using Madeleine’s image in spoof supermarket adverts. Gerry and Kate McCann call it “sick” and “very hurtful”. The magazine says Madeleine McCann is “getting a bit much for many people”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “Clear us… you have no case”
Says a friend of Kate and Gerry McCann: “They are adamant they should now be cleared”, as are many suspects in ongoing investigations
Page 7: “McCann ‘clear us’ demand’” – Says Clarence Mitchell: “If the reports are true clearly it would indicate the police absolutely, and quite rightly, have no case against Kate and Gerry”
DAILY MAIL front page: “Oh. Come off it, Heather, how dare you compare your ordeal to Kate McCann’s?” Heather Mills is on the telly
Page 7: “Police pursuit of McCanns ‘is running out of steam’” – The public prosecutor in Portugal says Kate and Gerry McCann will not face further police interviews “unless detectives can produce stronger evidence against them”
Mark Williams-Thomas, a former detective with Surrey Police, says the McCann’s private detectives could be on the wrong trail in Morocco. Or not
THE SUN page 24: “GERMAN MAG’S SICK JOKES ABOUT MADDIE – McCanns’ horror as spoof ad pokes fun at lost girl”
Ad advert in satirical Titantic magazine promises the kitchen cleaner will “remove all traces at the home” even DNA traces. The adverts warn that just because Madeleine’s face is on the product it does not mean they can be taken for free. The Sun is disgusted. It reproduces the images and the words to allow its readers to share in its disgust
A march on the German embassy is not yet in the planning
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE SICK NEW TWIST – Horror at German abuse of missing tot”
The Germans have her. A German paedo!
Page 7: “TOTALLY SICK – A full reproduction of the spoof adverts. “McCann’s agony as rag mocks hunt for Maddie.” Thanks to the Star and Sun, the McCanns now know that an obscure German magazines has made jokes about their case
Says Clarence Mitchell: “It shows Madeleine herself no respect… The magazine did not seek permission to use Madeleine’s image to be used on this so-called joke. It they had it would almost certainly not have been given”
So much for doing anything to keep Madeleine in the news
THE INDEPENDENT page 5: “Mills: I am treated as badly as Kate McCann and Diana.” More on Lady Mucca
THE TELEGRAPH page 9: “Madeleine police ‘consult sacked head of inquiry’” – chief inspector Goncalo Amaral is on the case. Sort of
The paper says detectives are “no closer to solving the case”. And the campaign to find Madeleine goes on…

If soothsayer is right then Amaral may claim the reward if it is for finding out what happened to Madeleine Dead or Alive

Yes it is interesting that some appear to have pulled back in their support. That does not necessarily mean that they presume guilt just that they may not prjudice the course of justice

Agreed! Yet another element that suggests the McCanns “operate” from a different world. But the PJ seem to be slowed down to a crawl as far as any investigating on the UK side. Looks to me like Team McCann may be having a real effect. Now I’m really beginning to wonder if any truth will come out.

Just because you haven’t been charged with anything doesn’t mean you are innocent.
If you park on a double yellow line, you are guilty of an offence. The period before getting a parking ticket doesn’t mean you are innocent of breaking the law. It just means the law haven’t caught up with you yet.

The McGoos approached Sir Elton John to write a song in memory of Madie, similar to ‘Candle in the Wind’, Sir Elton’s tribute to Princess Diana. He agreed, and ‘Cuddle-Cat in the Bin’ will be in the shops on Monday

Someone posted yesterday on how there was 500 children missing in the UK at the moment. I looked on the website and the vast majority of these were teenagers. The younger ones were all presumed to be with estranged parents and family members and a lot of these were mixed race. So where do the Moroccan gangs get all the little blonde children from? Is there a big problem in other northern European countries?

How do you know the song wasn’t pulled? It’s not there now. That’s as pro-McCann a comment as you’ll ever get.

Stig’s vocabulary is quite “Guardian”. For an Australian, that’s quite unusual.
Who’s the Perry guy or was that a guess?

JKR, Beckham etc still have considerable money on the table for the reward. Not pulled at all. Same as the song wasn’t ‘pulled’ Stevo as you well know!!
Why should anyone pull their support? The McCanns haven’t even been charged so are therefore still innocent.

People haven’t directly said they think they are guilty but there’s been several backers who have pulled out. Most recent is the Bryan Adams song being pulled from findmadeleine.com. Beckham, Rooney and Co seem to have gone quiet. What happened to JK Rowling? She’s not making any more noises of support is she?

Interesting point. I wrote weeks ago about “what’s in a name?” and identified stig and garth as potential McConnIsts - both characters with “secret identity” image. Trying to be smarter than everyone else. Stig was originally Perry McCarthy - now he’s some american bloke I think…
I’m very upset you’re leaving me out of the ‘Spy’ theories. Is that not sexist?

Talking of Brady etc. did you see http://www.bullmonkey.co.uk/mccann/kate.htm ?
I wondered about Kate being known as “hot lips Healy” when she was at Uni. Did she kiss all the boys? What’s that all about?

Ade,
I notice you like lists. How about starting a list of famous people who voiced sympathy (suggestive of assumed innocence) for K and G post arguido/a status (not before that)
Famous people who voiced sympathy (suggestive of evidence-blind assumed innocence) for K and G post arguido/a status (not before that).
Nigella Lawson (I think on Andrew Marr show)
Martin Bell
Prince of Wales and Camilla
Heather McCarthy
David Cameron
Richard Branson
Lord Stephens
Famous people who voiced evidence-blind presumption of K and G’ s guilt
eh anyone?
Feel free to devlop the list.

“Er ive posted that already ”
Ah ha. I found your post 170 answering post 168. Sorry, I try not to be redundant of others’ points, without adding something.
Someone else mentioned that the McCanns similarly planned events to mark 50 days and 100 days of “missing Madeleine”. In the case of the 6 month statement, I was struck by Gerry’s emphatic “we have always said that at 6 months…” — not just planning days or even weeks in advance of an event, but an admission that this is what he thought from the start.
Now, apart from the fact that this statement, and the planning of events, each indicate that the McCanns had NO EXPECTATION of finding Maddie by a certain date — there is something more fundamentally WRONG here.
That is to say, it is emotionally UNNATURAL to plan for events marking a time period of having NOT found your daughter. The McCanns seem so wrapped up in the idea of a CAMPAIGN that they have forgotten what the campaign is supposedly about. For it does make sense to mark the 50th day or 100th day, or 180th day, of some something positive, like NOT smoking, to use a trivial example. Staging an event, whether it is balloons or prayer, to mark the passage of time your child has been missing (while you yourself presume that a pedophilia network is responsible) is plain bizarre, because it seems like a celebration.
Are they celebrating the fact that they have gotten away with deceiving the public for so long?

Anyone remember ‘I Want My Baby Back’ by the Downliners Sect? Song ends with the sound of a shovel digging! Perfect!
They are so sure that a body won’t be found. That dreadful things about ’show us the body or shut up’. Ugh!
Does anyone know their history as a couple? No old partners have come forward with stories, though could be ‘cos Gerry is downright creepy and repulsive. Perhaps, like Hindley and Bradey, the two of them getting together became a dangerous thing. Everything has to be ‘lovely’ and perfect in McCann LaLa Land.

In the “last photo” someone made a point about her pink top and said it should be amongst her clothing. Why did they ask that? Has the pink top not been found?

300 bianchigirl,
if we are to believe what we read about the parents having gone out and left the apartment unlocked, then AT THE VERY LEAST they have exposed the 3 children to unnecessary risk. and this either through naivete (pinch me - i must be dreaming!) or willfully. the same way that their friends could easily access the unlocked apartment, anyone could - yes, even faceless man. you leave your apartment unlocked because you’re asking for some crime to be committed - burglary and, yes, many others like rape, abduction, murder……………..

309 Titanic rules! Says:
““That’s too much” would be a closer translation but does not carry the same emotional disapproval as “Das geht zu weit”…”
Hmm, I would consider “Jetzt reicht’s” (”That’s enough now”) as more emotional than “Das geht zu weit”, but maybe that’s off-topic here.

I wonder if, with hindsight, the McC’s wish they hadn’t PR’d and lawyer’d themselves up so soon. It seems to me they have a long road ahead of them now because it is unlikely she’ll be coming back. I feel great sadness for them and they seem to have lost such a lot of public support, so crucial to them in those early days..
