Madeleine McCann: A Titanic Struggle With The Germans And Slavery In Morocco
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “IS MADELEINE A CHILD SLAVE IN MOROCCO?”
“Madeleine McCann may have been condemned to a life of slavery working as a ‘little maid’ for a rich Arab family…” Or not
Page 5: “’Madeleine will be used as a little maid’” – so suggests Inspector Hicham Alaoui of the Moroccan Police in El Hajeb near Fez
Little maids, notes the paper, are “collected by rich families as ‘curiosities’ as well as servants. A woman from a group called Ecpatuk says such children are “vulnerable to abuse”. The Express sys the girls are abused “physically, emotionally and sexually”. Can Madeleine McCann be among them? Maybe…
“Sacked detective called in to help with the probe” – Chief Inspector Goncalo Amaral is talking with new chief Paulo Rebelo
“Fury over magazine ‘sick’ ads” – German magazine titanic has lampooned the case, using Madeleine’s image in spoof supermarket adverts. Gerry and Kate McCann call it “sick” and “very hurtful”. The magazine says Madeleine McCann is “getting a bit much for many people”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “Clear us… you have no case”
Says a friend of Kate and Gerry McCann: “They are adamant they should now be cleared”, as are many suspects in ongoing investigations
Page 7: “McCann ‘clear us’ demand’” – Says Clarence Mitchell: “If the reports are true clearly it would indicate the police absolutely, and quite rightly, have no case against Kate and Gerry”
DAILY MAIL front page: “Oh. Come off it, Heather, how dare you compare your ordeal to Kate McCann’s?” Heather Mills is on the telly
Page 7: “Police pursuit of McCanns ‘is running out of steam’” – The public prosecutor in Portugal says Kate and Gerry McCann will not face further police interviews “unless detectives can produce stronger evidence against them”
Mark Williams-Thomas, a former detective with Surrey Police, says the McCann’s private detectives could be on the wrong trail in Morocco. Or not
THE SUN page 24: “GERMAN MAG’S SICK JOKES ABOUT MADDIE – McCanns’ horror as spoof ad pokes fun at lost girl”
Ad advert in satirical Titantic magazine promises the kitchen cleaner will “remove all traces at the home” even DNA traces. The adverts warn that just because Madeleine’s face is on the product it does not mean they can be taken for free. The Sun is disgusted. It reproduces the images and the words to allow its readers to share in its disgust
A march on the German embassy is not yet in the planning
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE SICK NEW TWIST – Horror at German abuse of missing tot”
The Germans have her. A German paedo!
Page 7: “TOTALLY SICK – A full reproduction of the spoof adverts. “McCann’s agony as rag mocks hunt for Maddie.” Thanks to the Star and Sun, the McCanns now know that an obscure German magazines has made jokes about their case
Says Clarence Mitchell: “It shows Madeleine herself no respect… The magazine did not seek permission to use Madeleine’s image to be used on this so-called joke. It they had it would almost certainly not have been given”
So much for doing anything to keep Madeleine in the news
THE INDEPENDENT page 5: “Mills: I am treated as badly as Kate McCann and Diana.” More on Lady Mucca
THE TELEGRAPH page 9: “Madeleine police ‘consult sacked head of inquiry’” – chief inspector Goncalo Amaral is on the case. Sort of
The paper says detectives are “no closer to solving the case”. And the campaign to find Madeleine goes on…
THE TIMES and THE GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today

I seem to recall that KM did not go an the initial search - stayed in the apartment (to do some tidying up, perhaps?). Can’t remember what GM did. I presume this was all covered in the PJ reconstruction. Not seen any outcomes of that yet…

Yes, I agree. As Kate mcCann would say, my finely-developed sense of danger is prickling up….
Of course, I like to call is my “spidey sense.”
But yes, I almost feel…pity for what Gerry McCann may now be facing. Because if he disappears without telling, finding the truth out will be so much more difficult….and unlike Princess Diana’s case, nobody will pay for three inquests on Gerry….
Perhaps the guilty are safer in prison than where they are right now.

What tone? You don’t even know me and you think you have the right to ask if I am a good parent just because I think that someone is innocent? I don’t get you at all. Again why should I tow your line of thinking?
November 1st, 2007 at 4:30 pm
If they could produce a child naturally, I expect that Kate would be pregnant again by now. Although their body language is terrible and they don’t seem close at all, pregnancy is often favoured in cases where someone fears jail. Also, lot’s of sympathy, photo opps etc. It’s an awful thought.

It’s kate McCann’s own, on-the-record opinion you’re arguing against, not mine!

Dora 533-
Dora what are you implying, that I was 10 years old when I conceived my third child?
How old was I when I conceived the other two?
You said smacking achieves nothing. I was beaten quite frequently, sometimes with a stick, as a child by my mother and father and it does achieve a lot. I was a very obedient child and never once complained about having to go coal picking to keep the home fire burning.

I liked your analysis:
“Perhaps that powerful person who pays for everything is also making sure that Gerry is shadowed so that he doesn’t talk, ever, to anyone.”
Of course there’s only one way to ensure that gerrykins doesn’t speak…

543 - oh stop it dora, who has compared them to seriel killers then?
November 1st, 2007 at 4:26 pm
Dora
Why would thinking the McCanns were guilty make me a crap parent anyway?
Would thinking Lizzie Borden killed her parents make me a crap daughter?

Good night all! Been quiet for a few days, bring on the big one.
Soothsayer is the man with the info.

528,
Most people on this site are comparing the McCanns to serial killers which I find bizarre. There are profiles that are studied for tell-tale signs of potential killers, the McCanns do not fit this bill nor has anything come out in the media that would suggest this. Go spin your web in someone else’s corner. I am not interested

I have always thought maddy was unwanted too - don’t know why…
But the way they seem to overcompensate about how happy/beautiful/special/etc she was does make me very suspicious.
At least the monster couple can’t get at the poor little mite any more…

How strange!
And why are security police tagging along?
Are they afraid the alleged evil abductor will try to abduct Gerry?
Are the taxpayers paying for this? And if so, why? Death threats alone just don’t cut it, frankly. Do security officers tag along with Heather Mills, who claims she’s received them?
Perhaps that powerful person who pays for everything is also making sure that Gerry is shadowed so that he doesn’t talk, ever, to anyone.
Does anyone think Gerry might be…afraid?
You can be guilty and afraid at the same time, of course. I am just wondering.
It now seems that the McCanns are never left alone. But then, the interview they recently gave wouldn’t seem to fit that….
November 1st, 2007 at 4:23 pm
It’s very simple. Pitty says only one question needs to be answered: Did they or did they not help in the foot search/house to house or otherwise, comb the beach, whatever, the day(s) after M. went missing!
Nothing else needs to be answered. If the answer is yes, then we can look at the next question….whatever that is.
But if the answer is No. End of Story!

Dora - it’s your tone I object to, not your views.
I don’t have any kids - I’ve got a niece and I took care of her for the Summer, last year, when I was 18 and I can honestly say, I didn’t leave her once.
At the moment all the theories are unlikely - mainly because the McCanns keep making daft statements like the latest - that the abductor only had 15 mins to get in and out of an apartment that he apparently knew adults were checking often, and because they were all checking all the kids, there wouldn’t be a pattern he could relie on.

sorry, in my excitement, I made a typographical error–it should read, “nobody who’d never killed before”
Hope it’s clear now, sorry!
November 1st, 2007 at 4:17 pm

By your reasoning, then, no murders (or almost no murders) would ever occur because nobody who’d ever killed before would ever kill…therefore, there would never be any FIRST TIMES for anything or anyone!
Logical impossibility, with all due respect.
Just check out the story of Cain and Abel. There’s a reason it’s in the bible. It’s mankind’s first murder. And of course, it is likely merely a metaphor for something much deeper.

Well Gerry will be home from work soon. So glad he has settled back into normal life, as apparently they have done all they can and nothing is going to happen in the next six months.

You are an idiot and smacking achieves nothing. It just teaches violence. So I think it may be you who is the pathetic parent. By the way you sound like a 15 year old having some fun away from school today.

Pitty wore her sorceress priestess Haitian Mask last night and took Fang her wolf out to the end of our dirt road to pass out candy. Mostly, she just scared the kiddies and they ran away. Pitty cried and got angry and chased them down the road and threw candy at their fleeing shadows.
Fang howled and Pitty cursed. It was a big mess. She’s glad Halloweens is over and vows to do better next year. When Pitty cries, no one is happy.

I have always felt that Madeleine wasn’t wanted. I don’t know if this is because of any handicap or even imperfection etc or whether she didn’t meet the expectaitons of Kate and Gerry.
November 1st, 2007 at 4:14 pm

Ah, no, no, no! Don’t you remember Kate on the telly saying that Madeleine had a finely-developed “sense of danger?” She said NOTHING about any kind of finely developed sense of fun!
A child sensing danger, as her own mother so describes her, would never have left that apartment in the way that you describe.
But maybe Kate got it all wrong….
Just like they remembered intentionally leaving the door unlocked only after police determined that no entry could be had through the apartment window off the street.

I am a great parent and my child is proof of that, I don’t need your approval in that regard.
I do not think the McCanns killed their child. That is my personal opinion and I am entitled to it. I also have stated a zillion times that I do not condon the act of dining away from their children while they sleep even if half hour checks are made. I have logically looked at this case and do not believe that the McCanns were able to achieve all that Amaral claims in the time given. There is inconclusive DNA evidence to date. Innocent until proven guilty is a decent principle to live by and I immigrated to the western world precisely for democrative values. Enough said.
Why should I tow your line of thinking, if I am proven wrong well so be it. I have no personal stake in this case apart from the fact that we all seem obsessed by it due to the media coverage. And because it is always sad to see a small child missing.
By the way are you a crap parent(?) because you easily believe that a family who has had no prior criminal record or charges of abuse by social services somehow decided to kill Madeleine and then disrespectively got rid of her body and somehow managed to convince many others to help cover up their crime.
And no I am not American but I have lived there in the past.

re. post #126 brandon flowers: your question suddenly woke me up:
You’re bang on:
Why was this detailed timeline of a single day
the very first post of doctor G. McCann,
along with the mention of cliff run and TIMING,
only 17 days after his daughter’s disappearance?
Here are some guesses:
1. What an accessible, legal way to reach all Tapas 9 members so they can get their timeline stories straight for May 3. Could it be a timeline for May 3, disguised as a typical day?
2. Similarly, the mention of the parents joint run to clifftop site and description (is ocean below? is this a body deposit site May 3?) and the time of this (19 minutes one-way–or, if 19 minutes makes no sense and Tapas 9 or someone would know that, maybe the 19 minutes refers to soemthing else. ).
At the time it just seemed weird. But now that we’ve heard how the timelines of Tapas 9 people are one of the key problems….perhpas that’s why the blog was set up: to get information out. SOme days have information, soem days are just regular (often stupid-sounding) filler. The reason doctor G. Mccann’s blog strikes us as odd is because it IS odd. The questionn is, is it just narcissistic-seeming, look-at-me? Or effective information delivery to a wider group?
thanks brandon flowers for the re-posting — check out #126 for G.M.’s timeline blog post.
also I saw and continue to see in this girl: unusual coloboma (as in CHARGE), unusually sloped shoulders (CHARGE), *very* unusual and obvious high & square-bridged nose (between eyes, look) (CHARGE) and typical CHARGE-type thick skin around nostrils, unusually small stature (CHARGE), description by family members of past behavioural difficulties (a difficult child, runnign away into alley at bedtime, a loner at PDL daycare) (CHARGE), evidence of physical clumsiness (CHARGE). Not all with CHARGE have facial palsy that caused many here to dismiss it, though there is evidence of many minor CHARGE facial features in this girl (eye size, cheek & chin area, and perhaps mild facial asymmetry in mouth). Speculation of course.
See also the black-and-white family photo on the official (I’m surprised it’s not pay-per-view) website–she seems so distant and untouched by parents, and finding the flash difficult–looks more like an outtake than a final shot for such an expensive portrait, but that’s the best they could get. Very curious, that portait shot. Very telling.
Why would CHARGE matter? The sad fact is that most children killed are killed by parents, not by strnagers, and disabled kids have a higher rate of being killed by their parents than non-disabled kids.
Read the life and needs of a typical child, teen, and adult with CHARGE syndrome and imagine these two well manicured image-conscious successful people selflessly and attentively caring for someone with permanent, ‘un-fix-able’ difficulties. This child was about to leave a controlled family setting & enter the school system where behavioural/physical/intellectual difficulties are going to be noticed and diagnosed. Then they’s have to publicly deal with it and step up to the plate as parents (or look really bad to others). Both of those seem impossible from what I’ve seen of these two. Perhaps they found a third way out. Of course I am speculating.
Or, if something bad was happening to Madeleine, she’d be at a place and age where she could tell. Of course I am speculating.
