But isn’t that the problem with taking the “finding” money for the “mortgage” money? In fact, the McCanns haven’t done ANY looking by themselves! Just flying around, lecturing!
And I do think that people should be paying their own mortgages. Perhaps their families should rally around them and help them pay, or perhaps they should renegotiate their mortgages, or buy a more modest home they can afford.
The PJ would be well-advised to look into the McCanns’ finances for at least one year prior to Madeleine disappearing. That might tell them a lot about the McCanns’ possible motives.

I had high hopes that Hitchen really was in the know, as he seemed certain of the fact that the truth about the McCanns would come out, and implied that day would be soon. I’m disillusioned about him (well, that’s obvious to anyone who’s read my posts today).

Regarding the link you gave this morn to http://newsdeskspecial.co.uk/madeleinemccann/. I noted on the last thread I’d seen a Google ad for this on quite a few sites. I was a bit surprised to find Madeliene now an ad. I clicked it. It’s the exact same as you provided.

I saw gerry today on TV outside the Hospital.
It was obviously staged.
There beside him was Clutter Clarrie looking like he slept in his suit.
Photographers and all media present along with some extra large yellow ribbons in the background.
The media must have been tipped of he was going to be there.
This is a perfect example of media manipulation and how badly clarrie does it.

I wasn’t writing about Gerry’s blog. I was writing about Mike Hitchen and his blog (i on global trends). I posted a link to the pertinent blog post I was referring to, at the bottom of my 621 post.
Mike Hitchen is adamantly against the McCanns but his blogging behavior (particularly in the comments section) does not portray an honest, open-minded individual, imo. I am very skeptical of the McCanns and their behavior and therefore aligned with much of what Mike Hitchen writes about. However, when I posted my honest observations on his blog, I was accused of being in the McCann camp, there to stir up trouble, which was very different from the truth.

Just wanted to say that I think it’s perfectly acceptable for you to use money from the fund to pay your mortgage. That’s what it’s there for. You’re not working at the moment and this fund allows you to spend more time looking for Maddie. What do the press expect you to do - become homeless? I hope you will find her soon, safe and sound. Pitty says she doesn’t mind it when I call her a Gypsy Slut Whore, because that’s what she is, well, not the whoring anymore, but certainly the Gypsy Slut part. Her mother was a Gypsy fortune teller and they lived in a wagon pulled by one very large work horse, named Hairy. She also had a dancing bear and three trained wolves. She took to whoring after her mother died of pneumonia when poor little Pitty was only 10 years old. She graduated in the bottom of her class at Harvard and she calls a spade a spade. That’s why I lover her! The little slut!

I tried reading throug the posts and maybe I missed something. if you criticisms are about Hitchens I agree. There is something weird aboutt him and his blog. There’s a blog called ‘whatever’ by Transfattyacid which imho is far better than Hitchens’ who imo is unethical. I cannot find Transfattyacid’s blog address in my faves. When I do I will post the link.

I bet you Clarence did phone the media. After all, he’s the one who told the media that Gerry was going back to work in the 1st place.
The dislike of the McCanns on here would be disproportionate if the British media wasn’t so biased in favour of them. Most of us are English speakers, so all we’re getting is the message that any criticism of the McCanns is spiteful and wrong - which considering their changing statements, initial child neglect and love of P.R. is a bit galling.

About as safe as the McCanns Baby Monitoring Service (an extreme form of useless)
My eyes are as good as Jane Tanner on a dark night in Portugal (I need glasses)
It was more ludicrous than Gerry said (the most extreme form of ludicrous)
The meat was more rotten than Kate & Gerry’s boot on a hot day (so rotten it was dead)
It was so hot today and I was drier than Kate McCann’s face in summer 2007 (0% humidity)

I have to say that I cannot agree with most of what you have written.
You really need to go back to the very beginning of this case when publicily at least this was a tragic abduction case of an innocent 3 year old girl. In the early days and weeks it was thought possible that Madeleine would be found eventually, even if she had been taken by some less than savoury character(s). There was not the slightest hint of any possible implication or wrongdoing on the parts of the parents.
Given that background it’s a publicity “win win” for any “celebrity” who openly backs the McCann’s verbally or via donations and/or making appropriate public appeals for Madeleine’s safe return. That sounds dreadfully cynical, it’s not meant to be. I certainly got the impression that some of the celebrities who made appeals/lent their support in the early days really were acting out of genuine concern for Madeleine. Several of them as we know have children or young siblings/relations of their own.
Once you get into the suspicions and arguido phase of this investigation, any good PR person will tell any celebrity to keep their mouths firmly shut, whatever their opinions might be. Celebrities are often dependent upon a good media image, you and I may not be. If any celebrity spoke critically of the McCann’s at the moment I’m fairly willing to bet they would receive the wrong kind of front page news. Heaven only knows what may happen to them if a celebrity backed the wrong side right now. Imagine the field day the media would have if any celebrity dared suggest suspicion/guilt and the McCann’s were later cleared of any wrongdoing whatsoever?
I’m not supporting the McCann’s, there alleged actions re childcare leading up to the alleged abduction of Madeleine, nor their behaviour actions since. That said, I can perfectly understand why no celebrity would openly criticise them at this time.

not sure who you are though I know you’ve posted before, (!!) but when I read your posts I cannot get the image of John McCririck out of my head. He speaks like that about his wife ‘the booby bird’.

and yes they were out with the search… I know that firsthand from someone who there at the time staying nearby.
All the locals, residents, holidaymakers…. all were out scouring the complex, apartments, the beach etc. Though it did irritate the local police who took it as criticism.
The local searching by all and sundry (including the McCanns and their group) went on for days.
It was filmed for all the news channels…….

THat’s not to say we shouldnt’ ask tough questions, only that the level of disdain and hatred heaped on them is really out of line with what we know about the case.

I just went back to the comments section on the November 1 blog entry to see what’s been added. It’s amazing how self-protective he and his clan are. He’s set comments moderation on to ensure nothing he disapproves of will be posted and until he is ready to ‘control’ the situation with cutting responses against any that are the least bit critical or in disagreement with him or his views. He mentions those who don’t agree with him should start their own blog on the subject–how brave he is to be doing what he is doing. The more he posts, the more I see a small man puffing up his chest. He is becoming, in my eyes, more and more unlikeable and foolish.
