Madeleine McCann: A Titanic Struggle With The Germans And Slavery In Morocco
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “IS MADELEINE A CHILD SLAVE IN MOROCCO?”
“Madeleine McCann may have been condemned to a life of slavery working as a ‘little maid’ for a rich Arab family…” Or not
Page 5: “’Madeleine will be used as a little maid’” – so suggests Inspector Hicham Alaoui of the Moroccan Police in El Hajeb near Fez
Little maids, notes the paper, are “collected by rich families as ‘curiosities’ as well as servants. A woman from a group called Ecpatuk says such children are “vulnerable to abuse”. The Express sys the girls are abused “physically, emotionally and sexually”. Can Madeleine McCann be among them? Maybe…
“Sacked detective called in to help with the probe” – Chief Inspector Goncalo Amaral is talking with new chief Paulo Rebelo
“Fury over magazine ‘sick’ ads” – German magazine titanic has lampooned the case, using Madeleine’s image in spoof supermarket adverts. Gerry and Kate McCann call it “sick” and “very hurtful”. The magazine says Madeleine McCann is “getting a bit much for many people”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “Clear us… you have no case”
Says a friend of Kate and Gerry McCann: “They are adamant they should now be cleared”, as are many suspects in ongoing investigations
Page 7: “McCann ‘clear us’ demand’” – Says Clarence Mitchell: “If the reports are true clearly it would indicate the police absolutely, and quite rightly, have no case against Kate and Gerry”
DAILY MAIL front page: “Oh. Come off it, Heather, how dare you compare your ordeal to Kate McCann’s?” Heather Mills is on the telly
Page 7: “Police pursuit of McCanns ‘is running out of steam’” – The public prosecutor in Portugal says Kate and Gerry McCann will not face further police interviews “unless detectives can produce stronger evidence against them”
Mark Williams-Thomas, a former detective with Surrey Police, says the McCann’s private detectives could be on the wrong trail in Morocco. Or not
THE SUN page 24: “GERMAN MAG’S SICK JOKES ABOUT MADDIE – McCanns’ horror as spoof ad pokes fun at lost girl”
Ad advert in satirical Titantic magazine promises the kitchen cleaner will “remove all traces at the home” even DNA traces. The adverts warn that just because Madeleine’s face is on the product it does not mean they can be taken for free. The Sun is disgusted. It reproduces the images and the words to allow its readers to share in its disgust
A march on the German embassy is not yet in the planning
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE SICK NEW TWIST – Horror at German abuse of missing tot”
The Germans have her. A German paedo!
Page 7: “TOTALLY SICK – A full reproduction of the spoof adverts. “McCann’s agony as rag mocks hunt for Maddie.” Thanks to the Star and Sun, the McCanns now know that an obscure German magazines has made jokes about their case
Says Clarence Mitchell: “It shows Madeleine herself no respect… The magazine did not seek permission to use Madeleine’s image to be used on this so-called joke. It they had it would almost certainly not have been given”
So much for doing anything to keep Madeleine in the news
THE INDEPENDENT page 5: “Mills: I am treated as badly as Kate McCann and Diana.” More on Lady Mucca
THE TELEGRAPH page 9: “Madeleine police ‘consult sacked head of inquiry’” – chief inspector Goncalo Amaral is on the case. Sort of
The paper says detectives are “no closer to solving the case”. And the campaign to find Madeleine goes on…
THE TIMES and THE GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today

Pitty said that while she was doing a stint in the insane asylum, after the police confiscated her dancing bear and took it a Russian Zoo, she met several serial killers. Most are just wacko but some are too quiet, and while in shackles and having electric shocks this bald headed mute begged that he’d tell all…if only they stopped shocking him.
And all it takes to be a serial killer is one good kill and an awful lot of maybes…..or would have beens…..

But to be fair, you could only really tell for sure at the end of their days, if they never, ever do it again. And even then, you just might never know. Serial killers can often go years without doing anything…
But most often, they are in America, they are white males…not always, but most often.
But I am just joshing. I do believe that physicians, male and female, can and do commit all kinds of homicide. I don’t think I’ve ever seen serial killing discussed on these Anorak sites except for the physicial angle.
But the idea does give rise to a new interest, which is, why did the McCanns move around so very much? New Zealand, The Netherlands….?? Anyone out there keeping track?

“But I do agree–the instability, the back-and-forth with the jobs and training, the expensive house and cars and the inability to pay for them… all this indicates some basic financial problems.”
Nothing unusual. They are a young family and they have their well-paid jobs not for so long. They have bought an expensive house in 2006, and they might have used most of their savings as own capital for their house. Clearly they did not expect to lack more than half of their expected annual income for 2007.

None of it adds up. Martians have more chance of landing on earth and holding a conversation with Heather Mills than we will have of solving this case.
I wondered if you were a journalist. Someone with your name is and I was just curious.

No offense taken.
I quite wish I could question doctors at Gerry’s hospital! maybe hang out in the pub where they all go, see what the scuttlebutt is.
any of you Anorakers game for that? Wear a wire, what?

To be fair to Dora - I hope you read this Dora, I’m defending you - we have compared the McCanns to serial killers - Stevo did it a couple of posts ago. But I think it got started because someone said that Doctors wouldn’t accidentally or on purpose kill someone, so that got us on to Harold Shipman.

I used to think that the whole thing was simply a tragic domestic accident.
But then I considered that this really would not justify completely “disappearing” the body.
So you are likely correct, there has to be something darker going on….some reason the body cannot be examined. That would point to pedophilia or some other dark prediliction.
And then, I was REALLY trying not to pay ANY attention to the case at all, but could not avoid noticing all the inconsistencies when they kept going on television and using their pr to get things into print, and now the whole deal with the mortgage and the fact that, frankly, they don’t seem to work very hard, if at all, and if they couldn’t pay their mortgage in June, July and August, well, who’s been paying them for it since then?
So much does not add up to their innocence.
And I feel such sadness for the little girl. When I saw her make that “fish face” with no sound….

Dora,
I’ve never read anyone commenting on Anorak that the McCanns are serial killers or like serial killers.
You have either confused discussions about Gerry’s insightful blog where he wrote detailed information about what kind of cereals he enjoys for breakfast (with all the money he’s gearing up for new maid prospects and I guess hopes she reads his blog) or it’s due to your rown killer instincts upon which some of us have conversed.
If your yappy boozey brain recall isn’t mistakenly referring to us discussing Gerry’s breakfast habits than it’s the conversations we had about your being a serial killer of Anorak threads. Something which you seem to be unaware of but like most narcissists and psychopaths - most of us are sadly familiar with your MO (known quaintly on Anorak as “DOMO”) and your inablity at self-reflection. Which is at the core of the serial killer personality like yours.
Good reasoned gentle Anorak people. I ask that we no longer entertain Dora or DOMO and cease to respond to her babblings and any discussion about It from this momenet forward.

Have you seen the article about the official complaints that have been received in response to the publication of the UP YOURS, SENOR article? The translation of it appears at the bottom of this blog page:
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53176&page=6
I know some of you here sent e-mails about Parsons’ article and thought you’d like to know that people are taking notice.
There are other recently published Portuguese media articles translated on that page as well, that you might wish to check out. I haven’t had time to read them yet.
I apologize if this has already been discussed but I have been unable to find time to read through most of today’s posts (and I usually behind most everyone hear because I live in America).

Don’t “duh” me, please. I’ve been chatting up doctors for months now, trying to get info on exactly what goes on, on how “professionals” like Kate and Gerry are regarded by their peers.
I just asked why you wanted to know to see whether you were joking, serious…or what. It’s so hard to gauge that on the internet, and I did not wish to offend you if I responded errantly.

I don’t tend to look at late postings in here but if you want to email me that would work. Wait a few days and I should get a holding page up with email. I’ve had a problem with my database software and need to fix it because it’s not letting me publish the database to a web…yet.

I agree! I said, at least a year. I did not want Anorakers to think I was just wildly searching for any little scrap of bad news, and being unfair.
But I do agree–the instability, the back-and-forth with the jobs and training, the expensive house and cars and the inability to pay for them… all this indicates some basic financial problems. As for the darker stuff, well, I do not ordinarily comment upon appearance, but once I saw an actual photograph of Philomena McCann, I must admit to being a bit startled. I started to wonder, who are these people?
Clearly, there’s a big neurosis going on at some level. Gerry and kate McCann’s physical appearances stand in stark contrast to other “family” members. It’s often an indication of some kind of psychological pathology within families. Not always, but often enough so that the PJ should really look into it.
Inability to handle careers, finances, could all be part of that.

I’ve been busy in a tizzy all morning over the Hitchen blog that I haven’t even begun to read most of the early posts today. I’m always behind most everyone else here since I live in America, but today is worse than usual, so forgive me if this information has been discussed already. On the blog that provides translations to articles about the McCanns written in Portuguese, this was posted yesterday re. the UP YOURS, SENOR article and the response from readers:

Madeleine: British organism analyses complaints against tabloid attack on the Portuguese ambassador
London, Oct 31st (Lusa) - The comittee for complaints about the British press has received approximately fifty complaints against a chronicle that was published in a tabloid where the Portuguese ambassador in the country is attacked over statements about the “Madeleine case”.
“We received approximately 50 complaints from all over the world, mostly from Portuguese [citizens], but also from other nationalities”, a spokesperson from the state comission [Press Complaints Comission, PCC] stated to Lusa agency.
The comission will now analyse the contents of the complaints, as well as the legislation that is invoked by the complaints, in order “to decide whether a deeper investigation is justified”, the same source said.
(…)
The chronicle’s content, as well as its provocative title “Oh, up yours, senor”, was considered by several Portuguese to be a “scandalous offence”, prompting a current of electronic mail that incited to filing a complaint with the PCC.
The authors of this appeal invoke an infraction of 1986’s public law - which prohibits racial insults, or the use of terms that instigate racial hatred - and which would have hit the Portuguese through the mentioned article.
The issue has also originated dozens of comments on the tabloid’s webpage, where persons from different nationalities, including several who identify themselves as British, condemn Parsons, while others agree.
The PCC intends to reach a preliminary decision concerning the procedures that are to be adopted in this case “within two or three weeks”, and could then, if it decides to proceed, ask the newspaper for a clarification, the spokesperson told the Lusa agency.
If the publication is considered guilty, it may be forced to publish a retraction in its pages.
Lusa agency has tried to obtain a comment from the ‘Daily Mirror’ concerning the filed complaints, but there has not been an answer until now.
Ambassador Antonio Santana Carlos also declined to react to the controversy, and is considering a more formal statement, a source with the Portuguese diplomatic representation has said, while pointing to the interview with the ‘Times’ for further clarification about the meaning of his words.

What Im mad about is the Portuguese not questioning the Mccanns further unless ‘hard new evidence’ is found.
So basically, off the hook.
Yet Murat is supposed to be being questioned again. Whats it all about? Pressure from unelected Brown or clearing up the false leads?
This new guy is looking like a yes man - I expect the other fella will get silenced by slinging him in jail for the offense of beating up child abusers.
What a world - makes ya sick. Added to that Sky are claiming victory for getting that paedo virtual playground shut down - oh brilliant, now the paedos will be back molesting real kids - what the heck is wrong with people! Is common sense dead?

I said that a few days ago. I went so far as to say their creditworthiness should be checked as a matter of course. Stig jumped all over me for saying it - I really hit a nerve with him on that.
I’d look into their backgrounds for a lot further back than a year. Remember when you look back at all killer’s backgrounds, you find some very dark secrets…Dahmer, Sutcliffe, the Wests, Huntley et al.
Remember also that murders and killings happen every day. Most are simple affairs…crimes of passion or retribution. In fact, most killings are understandable and are dealt with very easily by the law. This case is already like infamous cases in history. Usually the infamous cases are the ones that hide dark secrets.

Thanks for the greetings.
I know most blogs have their faithful readers who are usually quite complimentary to their hosts, but my experience on many of them is that alternate opinions, if reasonably presented, are considered and responded to with respect. Not so on the Hitchen’s blog. It was a feeding frenzy on these posters. I felt very unwelcome and will not be posting there again and will not be reading the blog, either, after today.

The next question to be answered is: How many days did they look near the resort or on the beach etc. before they stopped? Did they go with the police on the house-to-house search? Would the PL have permitted this?
Pitty says the real question is - how sincere were they in their efforts to search (by foot)? Just a little, medium amount of effort, or wearing oneself ragged with worry and fear effort?
