Madeleine McCann: A Titanic Struggle With The Germans And Slavery In Morocco
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “IS MADELEINE A CHILD SLAVE IN MOROCCO?”
“Madeleine McCann may have been condemned to a life of slavery working as a ‘little maid’ for a rich Arab family…” Or not
Page 5: “’Madeleine will be used as a little maid’” – so suggests Inspector Hicham Alaoui of the Moroccan Police in El Hajeb near Fez
Little maids, notes the paper, are “collected by rich families as ‘curiosities’ as well as servants. A woman from a group called Ecpatuk says such children are “vulnerable to abuse”. The Express sys the girls are abused “physically, emotionally and sexually”. Can Madeleine McCann be among them? Maybe…
“Sacked detective called in to help with the probe” – Chief Inspector Goncalo Amaral is talking with new chief Paulo Rebelo
“Fury over magazine ‘sick’ ads” – German magazine titanic has lampooned the case, using Madeleine’s image in spoof supermarket adverts. Gerry and Kate McCann call it “sick” and “very hurtful”. The magazine says Madeleine McCann is “getting a bit much for many people”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “Clear us… you have no case”
Says a friend of Kate and Gerry McCann: “They are adamant they should now be cleared”, as are many suspects in ongoing investigations
Page 7: “McCann ‘clear us’ demand’” – Says Clarence Mitchell: “If the reports are true clearly it would indicate the police absolutely, and quite rightly, have no case against Kate and Gerry”
DAILY MAIL front page: “Oh. Come off it, Heather, how dare you compare your ordeal to Kate McCann’s?” Heather Mills is on the telly
Page 7: “Police pursuit of McCanns ‘is running out of steam’” – The public prosecutor in Portugal says Kate and Gerry McCann will not face further police interviews “unless detectives can produce stronger evidence against them”
Mark Williams-Thomas, a former detective with Surrey Police, says the McCann’s private detectives could be on the wrong trail in Morocco. Or not
THE SUN page 24: “GERMAN MAG’S SICK JOKES ABOUT MADDIE – McCanns’ horror as spoof ad pokes fun at lost girl”
Ad advert in satirical Titantic magazine promises the kitchen cleaner will “remove all traces at the home” even DNA traces. The adverts warn that just because Madeleine’s face is on the product it does not mean they can be taken for free. The Sun is disgusted. It reproduces the images and the words to allow its readers to share in its disgust
A march on the German embassy is not yet in the planning
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE SICK NEW TWIST – Horror at German abuse of missing tot”
The Germans have her. A German paedo!
Page 7: “TOTALLY SICK – A full reproduction of the spoof adverts. “McCann’s agony as rag mocks hunt for Maddie.” Thanks to the Star and Sun, the McCanns now know that an obscure German magazines has made jokes about their case
Says Clarence Mitchell: “It shows Madeleine herself no respect… The magazine did not seek permission to use Madeleine’s image to be used on this so-called joke. It they had it would almost certainly not have been given”
So much for doing anything to keep Madeleine in the news
THE INDEPENDENT page 5: “Mills: I am treated as badly as Kate McCann and Diana.” More on Lady Mucca
THE TELEGRAPH page 9: “Madeleine police ‘consult sacked head of inquiry’” – chief inspector Goncalo Amaral is on the case. Sort of
The paper says detectives are “no closer to solving the case”. And the campaign to find Madeleine goes on…
THE TIMES and THE GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today

Paid leave is the normal thing. This fund is questionable.

you can see discrepancies. for most of us no two people’s watches tell the same time and on holiday some people don’t wear watches. i know some people who don’t even wear a watch to work now, use their mobiles instead. some differences are to be expected making it hard to get a true perspecive on the time lines.

Agree with Julie. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed by my daily LIFE (bills, kids, etc) that I can’t function. I can imagine myself being one of the moms unable to be of any use in a situation like that, and I’d worry that I was doing something WRONG, that I was somehow getting in the way of the police or the people who know how to do their jobs, or that I’d walk into the hands of the kidnapper and not know what to do, that I’d mess it all up. So the POSSIBILITY (which I do not accept as fact, sorry to your friend, Thea) that Kate was on the beach not long after Madeleine went missing is not all that weird to me. I might do the same.

Whitehorse,
Where is the evidence that they “are suffering”?
Is playing tennis the next day proof of their suffering?
Is saying Madeleine is giving the “abductor” her “tuppence worth” proof of their suffering?
Is Gerry saying cheerily in the US ” I recognise that face!” upon seeing Madeleine’s photograph proof of their suffering?
Is jogging, laughing, carrying on as normal proof of their suffering?
You tell me.

785 from what i can gather they never asked to go on paid leave, and i for one do find that a little strange.

I just thought taking unpaid leave was another one of Gerry’s wrong ways of looking like he was doing the right thing, eg. he’s a completely selfless father.
Like the posed pictures with the twins, where he looks happy, because he thinks that makes him look like a good Dad, instead of a superficial twat who has forgotten about his missing daughter.
I think maybe Gerry just is a superficial (not bad) person and his efforts to look deep are making him and Kate look guilty.

i don’t mind joining your merry band of crusaiders but i need plenty of notice since i am not in blighty at the moment, i will be attending a child abuse sentencing on the 12 nov though!!!!!
watch the video and then tell me you would not like to throttle this bastard http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/norfolk/7045190.stm
as far as i know at least 2 of the witnesses (former pupils) that attended the trial are now dead, i was informed that both former pupils had died of heart attacks in the last 18 months.

“Paid leave is a right. They could go to their Union if it was denied.
Using the Madeleine fund is unnecessary.”
You can see it either way. They had the right to get financial aid from the fund, so going on paid leave was unnecessary.

I’m surprised and disappointed that the McCanns have used the Madeleine fund money to pay their mortgage. After the strident and vocal support they have received from family members, I would have thought that relatives (most notably Philomena McCann, who is on record saying she would sell her own home to help them if necessary) to have been queuing up to offer financial support.
Alternatively, they could have told the d/g magnate that Mitchell was costing them say, £10k per month, instead of say, £7k per month and sorting out the building society with the ‘leftovers’. Just kidding, I know they’re as honest as the day is long, bla, bla, bla…

True, but not allegedly on the night of May 3. He said only one person got up that night. The way I read it, it seemed like he didn’t want to say or was bound not to tell anyone who was the “one”.

772 brianthesnail … keep your comments to yourself as far as my postings are concerned. I have no need to correspond with someone with as low intelligence as you present. All you are here for is to ridicule, swear and degrade other posters. This is a site for a missing child, you have no place here!

I know I dislike the McCanns because Kate’s cold and Gerry talks like he’s never met Madeleine in his life - but I don’t think I’d say they were too healthy to be paid while they campaign for their missing daughter in the immediate aftermath of her disappearance.
Clearly they’d be too stressed to concentrate on work.

Julie, I said I agree with you but only half heartedly. If Kate could leave the twins a month later to travel then certainly imo she could have searched for Madeleine even with tearful eyes?

So then the question becomes, why didn’t they take it?
It may be that taking paid leave gives the NHS some kind of right to explore the health problem, whatever…reason for taking the leave.
Pitty, be a love and put that wire on ASAP and head over to the pub, batt your lovely blues (I assume) at the hospital benefits administrator, and shed some light on this!

holy somnambulists
well gerrykins may have more time on his hands than we think. Apparently he’s not doing his proper job yet - just part-time administrative duties, so he can sit in front of his NHS PC and blog us all to sleep. What a thought…
Read somewhere that his six months was up - hence the need to get off his fat arse and go to “work”.
At least KM’s not at work wading past the stiffs in the waiting room…

coolandcalm. Nor do you know my nationality. But I can tell you regardless I have no allegiance to any country or nationality or culture. So why don’t you give it a rest. It is quite obvious from your posts here that you are incredibly narrow minded and have given out blatant misinformation in the past. If you are not lying then you must tbe incredibly gullible to believe a lot of the crap you spout.
As far as your witness? Why should mine be any less reliable than yours? Yeah, mine also so Kate on the beach that weekend and she was jogging and enjoying the sun. She didn’t appear to be a part of the search. That was when my friend decided that sosmething wasn’t right and he and his wife decided that if they did not see her by the following day engaged in the search - NOT CONTINUING HER EXERCISE REGIMEN - that something was terribly wrong .
Oh and of course when the British arrived with the sniffer dogs it was the British police who requested that people not be searching in certain areas so as to not interfere with the British part tof the investigation and to respect the work the dogs were doing. But the searches did not come to a halt. Haven’t you ever seen photage of search dogs with lots of people milling about? And it was at July’s end when the British police dogs arrived in Portugal. You really are ridiculous.

It doesn’t matter if the public complain.
Paid leave is a right. They could go to their Union if it was denied.

So if they were checking every 20 minutes or so when did Oldfield check on his children? He left the table once checked on the McCann children, after a fashion then returned. The movements of the Paynes and the Oldfields seem very limited. I understand that the Paynes had a monitoring system which implies that they would have left the children physically unchecked for the whole evening - I have forgotten the ages of the Payne and Oldfield children.

facesitter, there are many people wjo have sttod by their convictions, i for one have been here since day 11 sprouting what i believe and what others have labelled poison.
November 1st, 2007 at 6:56 pm
755 Thea … Yes I understand your points, however, it is not uncommon for the mother of a missing child to be so devastated that they are of absolutely no assistance whatsoever. There are both sides of the coin here, there are those mothers who will just NOT stop searching for their child, and then their are mothers who are just so cracked up that they cannot even think straight. So the people here who are judging Kate McCann for not assisting are wearing blinkers.
Even though I am very suspicious of the McCann’s, the thought that she did not help in the initial searches for Madeleine had absolutely no influence on my judgement of the McCann’s. This was quite normal behaviour under “the circumstances”.
And before everyone jumps on my back for this post, I am MOST DEFINITELY not part of the McCann camp …. quite the opposite in fact!
November 1st, 2007 at 6:56 pm
Bulldump, any particular reason why you called me facesitter?
