Why would you prefer it? Funds are notorious for leading to fights over how they’re administered and what payments they make.
If their bosses think they’re on an extended holiday and aren’t under stress then they could talk to them about it. Are you saying they couldn’t risk applying for paid leave because they were enjoying themselves?

There are no photos because Madeleine ‘disappeared’ very early on in the holiday. The whole leaving the children alone on successive evenings is an elaborate fabrication leading up to the alleged events of May 3rd. Discuss?
I have no evidence to support this ludicrous theory!

We’d assume the parents of a missing child are suffering - but then we’d assume they’d fall apart more in public and we’d be wrong about that, so why wouldn’t we be wrong about what they’re feeling in private?

First Madeleine McCann book to be published
The first book on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann is set to be published next week by one of Portugal’s best known crime reporters.
Hernani Carvalho’s book, Maddy 129, traces the 129 days between four-year-old’s disappearance from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz to her parents being named as official suspects in the case.
The book ends with the return of the McCanns to the UK.
Mr Carvalho told the Daily Mail that his investigation, with co-author Luis Maia, produced a “series of questions” about the timing of Madeleine’s disappearance.
The book did not present a theory about what happened to Madeleine, but analysed what Mr Carvalho said were discrepancies in the case.

I would have preferred unpaid leave. It’s also questionable to have what sharp tongues might have called an extended holiday (playing tennis ect.) in Portugal and travelling around Europe while being on paid leave.

1. Please provide proof from a reliable source on Gerry playing tennis. One waiter looking for his moment in the sun does not count.
2. The “tuppence worth” comment, I actually found rather endearing. The McCanns have said so very little about Madeleine’s actual personality (other than being lovely and beautiful of course) that I found it to be a little ray of sunshine into her personality. I also found this comment very revealing of their true belief that Madeleine is somehow being well cared for by someone who desperately wanted children (rather than the more likely ugly scenarios of Madeleine being dead or in the hands of pedophiles).
3. I don’t believe you are the arbiter of who behaves sufficiently sufferish.

I’ve mentioned many times before that several people can have differing stories but all be telling the truth or be “right”.
Like you say, if Gerry only went to the Tapas Bar when he saw Wilkins then the only part of the lie is the time he said he went to the bar but it still allows Wilkins’ story to be 100% right.
Also, I’m sure the waiter could make a mistake. People get up and down to go to the toilet. Does every waiter monitor every person all the time? Of course not. This is another reason why the Tapas 9 story is probably quite mixed up.
But in all seriousness, would you bother going out at all if you had to keep getting up every few minutes? Sounds bloody stupid to me.

erm… julie and snail, i think you have both got the wrong end of the stick here, this board is not dedicated to finding maddie, thats a different url all together. this board was and is for the mccanns to be brought to justice and to ridicule them if their media tactics fall foul of the manner in which we expect them to behave.

I would love to meet up with other Anorakis but do not live in the UK. For now I discuss with my European friends mostly by phone (yey Skype!) and a few Americans who are following the story. Other than that I visit here and 2 other blogs.
BTW, what happened to yesterday’s thread? I can’t find it and wanted to read the rest of the comments from 7pm onwards. Maybe it’s not even worth it. There was a very uncomforttable element yesterday. Like being at a picnic that suddenly gets swarmed with giant annoying misquitos.

Unless Wilkins is lying then McCann got up and went to the apartment. Or was he not at the Tapas bar at 8.30-9.00 pm but in the apartment until 9.05-9.10? Did anyone eat their meal? Kate M must have been at the bar from 8.30-10.00 so had time to finish off everyones.
