Gordon Brown’s Motto For Education
“WITHOUT Labour, nothing,” says Gordon Brown, words echoed by Brighton and Hove Grammar School.
We call for “Achievement beyond expectation” (Banksome School, Darlington). It is “Onwards and upwards” (Camden High School For Girls).
And do we not strive for “Excellence through endeavour (Kennet School, Newbury).
We could go on. Gordon Brown does. He wants a return to the halcyon days when the school motto, and not a curry kebab with spliff chaser, was on the lips of every shiny-eyed child.
He tells an audience of headteachers, as witnessed by the Independent, that the school motto should “make it possible for young people to bridge the gap between what they are and what they have the wherewithal to become.”
Indeed, without school mottos, where would Gordon Brown get his soundbites from? Brown used his school motto - “I will do my utmost” - in his first speech as Prime Minister.
“To strive and achieve is to succeed,” says Brown’s advisors at Howard School, Medway.
Ad captandum vulgus…

It would be good manners if he could bring himself to say the word English when talking about schools. After all, its only the schools in England he can meddle with.
The Scottish government, elected by the Scottish people, has total control of scottish schools and thanks to the Scottish Chancellor, gets much more money than England so they can afford smaller classes and free university education. In fact, they’ve promised that all by the English can have free university education in Scotland, including EU migrants and even asylum seekers.
Gordon Brown’s constituents will come to him with problems about English education. They don’t care. They’re happy with their higher funding and lower numbers in the classrooms.
Their teachers get higher pay and lower hours, as well.
All this and Gordon Brown won’t even say the words England or English when talking about our schools.
Ignorant and arrogant. And he’s not even answerable to anyone in England.
We need our own Parliament and politicians who will put England’s school children first and foremost. No more constant jiggling around with policies and no more Scottish meddling in English affairs.
They want to have their cake and eat it at our expense. No more!

‘Without Labour, Nothing’ sounds suspiciously similar to
“Arbeit Macht Frei” (Work Brings Freedom) The entrance slogan at several Nazi concentration /work camps

Gosh, is Gordon Brown the Messiah. That ‘Without Labour, Nothing’ sounds like a reference to Genesis and a divine mission.
And I like the Camden girls’ motto. What’s the Camden boys’ motto.
‘They like it up them’?
