I have no regrets whatsoever concerneing Boris Johnson's 'dismissal' of Sir Ian Blair from his office. To me he emits the aura of just another arrogant high-ranking peeler (and I've seen a few of these in my time, surrounded by his entourage of fawning sychophants) who thought himself untouchable. Policemen aught to remember what they are paid for. They are merely public servants with far too many ranks in their organisation(s) and far too little humility. Now, I suppose, I'll just have to wait for the knock on the door (or the break-in) or maybe a bullet from having been mistaken for a terrorist - you never know.

In response to Steve M, most of these lines were from the Sun.

You might recall the Hillsborough disaster where the Police were supposed to have told the Sun about outargeous untrue allegations including that the dead were being robbed and Police who tried to help were urinated upon.

The allegations were later withdrawn by the Sun, and the Public Enquiry ruled that the Policing that day was seriously flawed.

Can you see a pattern here? Police make major cock-up and anonymous witnesses come forward to give the Police an alibi when it becomes obvious that the blame will be laid at their door.

Things the media don't mention, let alone investigate:
1. Who were the witnesses that every newspaper and TV news desk reported as having seen the innocent man wearing a padded jacket (which was untrue); having vaulted the ticket stiles (untrue) and having been chased, ignoring the frantic shouted warnings of the poor armed police (untrue)?
2. Why did SIR Ian Blair then give a press conference that backed up these fasehoods?
3. Who was the witness on TV who just happened to give a flase account of the padded jacket and alleged chase - the self same incorrect story that just happened to coincide with the false story that the poice were spreading?
4. Does investigative journalism still exist or do all reporters just get their feeds from Reuters and thus help propogate untruths and half-stories?

Sir Ian Blair has been called the most PC cop in the land - but a lot of the others are racing to catch up!

Does ANYBODY resign in the UK these days? The killing of the Brazilian at Stockwell station in London was a great tragedy and almighty cock-up.

The Brazilian government have to be seen to be shouting loud when it happens to a Brazilian citizen abroad but many people have been killed here for different reasons by the police, and it often gets a much more muted response than the London shooting.
