Madeleine McCann: Mafia, A Bag Of Clothes And Missing Children
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD: “Maddie DNA clue in airport bag”
A bag of clothes containing “DNA linked to Madeleine McCann” has been found dumped by a road in Portugal.” It is a white carrier bag. It was in a layby two weeks ago near Faro airport.
“The bag contained a blue fleece jacket and a pair of adult jeans with traces of DNA that contained ‘moderate’ links to Madeleine”. And: “There was also a SHOWER CURTAIN inside.” And a white flannel, a green elastic band, a light green child’s T-shirt with a green flower on the front and a pink and blue pencil case with a pink heart motif
“Godfather in Madeleine hunt… Crime godfathers in Morocco—where there have been several alleged sightings of Maddie - have been told cops will scale back drug busts if they do”
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MY LITTLE MADDY” - a picture of Madeleine McCann on a pony with Kate McCann by her side
• “McCanns heartache as Cops say: “Case closes in 7 weeks
• Police to leave cloud of suspicion over Kate and Gerry”
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY – McCANN FRIENDS TO BE NAMED AS SUSPECTS”
“Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, Matthew Oldfield and Dr David Payne were last night forced to bring in their own lawyers after increasing fears that Portuguese police were preparing to implicate them in the case of the vanished four-year-old girl”
So will they be named as suspects or not? The Express say yes and then prevaricates
DAILY STAR ON SUNDAY front page: “MADDIE SIX MONTHS ON – 15 NEW CLUES”
That picture of Madeleine McCann on a horse. A clue?
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “ANSWER OUR PRAYERS - ON THE SIX-MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF LOSING MADDIE Kate weeps at church service for Maddie as parents suffer crushing blow”
“The devout couple first took two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie for ‘a few moments of solitude’ at their village church to remember missing Maddie”
A solitude watched by person who told the press? No need with Clarence Mitchell to fill in the gaps, Says he: “Kate and Gerry wanted a few moments of solitude praying for Madeleine with the twins”
Inside the church: “A collage of pictures of a happy Maddie - including the one…of her sitting on a black Shetland pony - took pride of place near the altar. Six snaps of the youngster next to smiling faces of other missing children were pinned onto a green notice board. Supporters were encouraged to look at the pictures before praying”
And they pray for…
The People looks at “respected” Portuguese daily Publico, which tells: “Six months on from Madeleine’s disappearance, the police theory remains the same. That the child died by accident in her room - and her parents committed the crime of hiding her body”
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine’s parents hold prayer vigil six months to the minute after she disappeared”
There are about 200 people at the “700-year-old church” near Rothley, Leicestershire
The McCanns are suspects
“Other missing children - including British toddler Ben Needham, who disappeared while on holiday in Greece in 1991, were also remembered at the service”
Did Ben Needham’s family ask for this? Want it?
Says the Rev Rob Gladstone: “Comfort and liberate all those, especially young children who have been taken from their families against their will, give courage to their grieving families”
A board says “Pray for all missing children.” How were the faces on the board selected? Many children are missing
THE INDEPENDENT: “Six months after Madeleine, another 600 are still missing”
Missing persons charities yesterday released figures “showing that more than 600 children have been missing in the UK for as long as Madeleine McCann, and are still unaccounted for”
Many are foreign. Many are teenagers. Not all are blonde
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Prayers for Madeleine McCann, six months on”
“The 3,500-strong population of Rothley - its trees decked in yellow ribbons and messages of support - came to a near standstill as Kate and Gerry arrived from their nearby home”
Locals can’t move for the press?
Rothley is an “affluent Midlands enclave”. This is McCann Land – the enclave - a small territory culturally and ethnically different form the surrounding lands
Says Gerry in his blog: “We have no idea whether she is suffering, but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”
THE GUARDIAN: “Madeleine book notes the ‘contradictions’”
More on Maddie 129, a book by Hernani Carvalho and Luis Maia
“The message is that the case just doesn’t add up,” says a representative of the book’s publishers
THE SCOTSMAN: “Six months on, McCanns in new Maddie plea”
The picture of Madeleine on a Shetland pony was taken on a day out at the Hatton Country World park in Warwickshire on April 13 – “less than three weeks before she went missing”
THE TIMES: “Gerry McCann: ‘our princess prayer for Madeleine’”
Gerry McCann’s blog: “It is so painful for us simply being separated, but all the more distressing when we have to speculate about the situation Madeleine finds herself [in]. We have no idea whether she is suffering but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”

Yes Annie ,but if they were guilty and did that…well they might as well have packed their bags, walked down to Amaral and asked him what the accomodation was like last May. Put yourself in their shoes. There are better ways of creating diversions and smokescreens. For a start if they left Portugal quietly last May , as grieving parents instead of throwing the whole tourist industry into disarray and alerting the world. The chances are Madeleine would have been another statistic and we wouldn’t be sitting here now. They didn’t .Why?. I believe it was because they wanted their daughter back and they did not know what happened to her.

clarkeson makes a good point. why go to the anglican church and not the catholic one. specially as he had his life-changing vision in a catholic church and had met the pope.
no. all too easy. too quick to use other people. too insincere. and still there are those who continue to make excuses for their poor behavior.

Lets face it Maria, there is only God who cant question them - if they say anything to anyone else they can ask them to prove it - God just listens - but let us not forget he listens to the ones asking who did commit this crime also and sometimes, through actions, he (or she) answers

986 Garth.
You really do not see what a paradox that statement is, calling me blinkered!
I’ll consider and discuss ANYTHING - you will not. But I’m the blinkered one? Only been there 4 days? Do you have kids and a digital camera Garth?
However, lets park that one, as you make the point - they were not actually there on holiday ‘with’ their kids. They were there on holiday and the kids were with nannies and in creches or alone in their apartments. So that might indeed be an explanation.
Regarding the use of older pictures, your suggestion might be a possibility - but its been a long time since then and they have remained prominant. It does seem odd with such an otherwise highly prominant campaign that there is such a small number of pcitres - it gives the impression of tight control.
If nothing else, it does raise suspicions (I know, you never get suspicious about them!).

To be fair, Gerry never pretended he was a much of a practising Catholic before Madeleine disappeared. From what Kate’s mother said, I don’t know how devout K was, but it appears she did go to church. (Rather puts paid to the idea that Gerry was desperate for a priest to confess to in the early hours of 4th May! Far more likely he hoped the priest would persuade the police to take Madeleine’s disappearance seriously and start LOOKING for her!)
It is true, Ian, that some people, faced with unbearable catastrophe in their lives, turn to God. It’s called despair. In moments of desperate fear or grief, people with any kind of religious background do often turn to their pastors and their church communities for support.
Others look to spiritualism, mediums, psychic aid or whatever.
What renewed or awoke G’s faith, he said, was the unprecedented amount of support from all over the world. I think he and K were genuinely deeply touched by this. It looks as though even the more recent media pounding, the arguido status etc. hasn’t changed their strengthened faith, or not yet anyway.

Also whats the story regarding this ‘Baby Grace’? I thought it had been confirmjed she wasnt Maddie?

Alexis - or create a diversion - nothing to lose eh?
Iknow what you’re saying Annie, but it would be quite a dangerous and idiotic diversion , if you think about it. Remember initially the detectives were hired in secret and against the wishes of the PJ. Now consider for a moment that evidence, any evidence was uncovered by them to suggest that the McCANNS were implicated; weell put it this way ,they are not Catholic priests. Would they risk reputation by withholding evidence and breaking the law? Idon’t think so. If you had commited a crime would you give a list of witnesses to the police and hire private detectives? Iwouldn’t. It would be insane!

So why do they keep using pictures of her which were clearly taken when she was a good deal younger. She looks very different, so what is the point of that?
I think you’ve answered that one yourself. They never had many of her. They had been there for four days. And who do you think ransacked their photograph album at home in the uk? Well it wasnt the McCanns themselve now was it? So the pictures were possibly picked out by her/his parents?
Now is that not a fair point? Or are you just ‘blinkered’ as normal?

324 - thea - why would anyone take a rock of crack cocaine and attempt to inject it? how?
********************
Substances can be manipulated to change their form. Crack cocaine can be melted and then injected. If you have any further questions about drugs please consult my friend Google, as I find the talk unsettling, having worked with drug addicts many years ago - the tragedy and sadness of the addicts’ life is not something I wish to be reminded of any more.
To get you on your way:
OBJECTIVES: We estimated prevalence and identified correlates of crack-cocaine injection among young injection drug users in the United States. METHODS: We analyzed data from the second Collaborative Injection Drug Users Study (CIDUS II), a 1997-1999 cohort study of 18-30-year-old, street-recruited injection drug users from six US cities. RESULTS: Crack-cocaine injection was reported by 329 (15%) of 2198 participants. Prevalence varied considerably by site (range, 1.5-28.0%). No participants injected only crack-cocaine. At four sites where crack-cocaine injection prevalence was greater than 10%, recent (past 6 months) crack-cocaine injection was correlated with recent daily injection and sharing of syringes, equipment, and drug solution. Lifetime crack-cocaine injection was correlated with using shooting galleries, initiating others into drug injection, and having serologic evidence of hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus infection. CONCLUSIONS: Crack-cocaine injection may be a marker for high-risk behaviors that can be used to direct efforts to prevent HIV and other blood-borne viral infections.

Ohhh and I thought it must be a Yank druggie thing. But oh dear it appears you proper Brits like you, judgelestyoubejudged, also have addicts. Here’s a transcript about crack cocaine addicts preference to inject the drug:
Abstract:
Aims: Drugs intelligence systems in Merseyside have identified a growing number of treatment-seeking clients who express a preference for injecting crack cocaine. We investigated the history of crack-cocaine injecting behaviours in individuals attending Merseyside drug-treatment agencies. Methods: Data were drawn from the regional National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS) database for all those individuals reported to have presented for structured treatment from 1 April 1999 to 31 March 2002 in Merseyside. This resulted in a sample size of 4055. Subjects were grouped according to whether they reported injection of crack cocaine. Details including demographics, current drug-use profile and behaviours surrounding drug use were derived from the NDTMS dataset. Prevalence ratios were calculated and significant variables were subsequently entered into a backwards stepwise logistic regression model to assess the relative strength of association between subject characteristics and incidences of crack-cocaine injection. Findings: Clients that had injected crack cocaine and those that had not were well matched on demographic details and drug use other than heroin. Controlling for area of residence, crack-cocaine injectors were more likely to report use of injected heroin ( p <0.001), use of non-injected cocaine ( p <0.01), and less likely to report use of non-injected heroin ( p <0.001). Logistic regression showed that crack injection was significantly predicted by heroin injection ( p <0.001) and being a Liverpool resident ( p <0.05). Conclusions: This preliminary investigation suggested that heroin injection is also a strong indicator of crack-cocaine injection. Crack-cocaine injectors may represent a subset of heroin users rather than a distinct population. Patterns of crack-cocaine administration were locally determined and require a dynamic response from service providers at the local level. It is vital that intervention strategies adapt to varieties and changes in drug administration behaviours in order to remain effective.

We find ourselves sharing this conclusion - though it will cause dissonance with dear old Garthy (who will use his considerable analytical and cognitive skills on our conclusion and come to his own brilliantly structured and completely unpredictable conclusion that Katie poos and Gerrykins are, in fact, innocent of everything (including having sex with each other, hence the immaculate conception).
I have to say that Kates conversion to practicing catholicism (which began on May 3rd soon after realising that the great one had stolen her child, so needed immediate prayers) and Gerrys gradual climb to full church attendee, is nothing short of a miracle!
