Madeleine McCann: Mafia, A Bag Of Clothes And Missing Children
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD: “Maddie DNA clue in airport bag”
A bag of clothes containing “DNA linked to Madeleine McCann” has been found dumped by a road in Portugal.” It is a white carrier bag. It was in a layby two weeks ago near Faro airport.
“The bag contained a blue fleece jacket and a pair of adult jeans with traces of DNA that contained ‘moderate’ links to Madeleine”. And: “There was also a SHOWER CURTAIN inside.” And a white flannel, a green elastic band, a light green child’s T-shirt with a green flower on the front and a pink and blue pencil case with a pink heart motif
“Godfather in Madeleine hunt… Crime godfathers in Morocco—where there have been several alleged sightings of Maddie - have been told cops will scale back drug busts if they do”
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MY LITTLE MADDY” - a picture of Madeleine McCann on a pony with Kate McCann by her side
• “McCanns heartache as Cops say: “Case closes in 7 weeks
• Police to leave cloud of suspicion over Kate and Gerry”
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY – McCANN FRIENDS TO BE NAMED AS SUSPECTS”
“Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, Matthew Oldfield and Dr David Payne were last night forced to bring in their own lawyers after increasing fears that Portuguese police were preparing to implicate them in the case of the vanished four-year-old girl”
So will they be named as suspects or not? The Express say yes and then prevaricates
DAILY STAR ON SUNDAY front page: “MADDIE SIX MONTHS ON – 15 NEW CLUES”
That picture of Madeleine McCann on a horse. A clue?
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “ANSWER OUR PRAYERS - ON THE SIX-MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF LOSING MADDIE Kate weeps at church service for Maddie as parents suffer crushing blow”
“The devout couple first took two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie for ‘a few moments of solitude’ at their village church to remember missing Maddie”
A solitude watched by person who told the press? No need with Clarence Mitchell to fill in the gaps, Says he: “Kate and Gerry wanted a few moments of solitude praying for Madeleine with the twins”
Inside the church: “A collage of pictures of a happy Maddie - including the one…of her sitting on a black Shetland pony - took pride of place near the altar. Six snaps of the youngster next to smiling faces of other missing children were pinned onto a green notice board. Supporters were encouraged to look at the pictures before praying”
And they pray for…
The People looks at “respected” Portuguese daily Publico, which tells: “Six months on from Madeleine’s disappearance, the police theory remains the same. That the child died by accident in her room - and her parents committed the crime of hiding her body”
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine’s parents hold prayer vigil six months to the minute after she disappeared”
There are about 200 people at the “700-year-old church” near Rothley, Leicestershire
The McCanns are suspects
“Other missing children - including British toddler Ben Needham, who disappeared while on holiday in Greece in 1991, were also remembered at the service”
Did Ben Needham’s family ask for this? Want it?
Says the Rev Rob Gladstone: “Comfort and liberate all those, especially young children who have been taken from their families against their will, give courage to their grieving families”
A board says “Pray for all missing children.” How were the faces on the board selected? Many children are missing
THE INDEPENDENT: “Six months after Madeleine, another 600 are still missing”
Missing persons charities yesterday released figures “showing that more than 600 children have been missing in the UK for as long as Madeleine McCann, and are still unaccounted for”
Many are foreign. Many are teenagers. Not all are blonde
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Prayers for Madeleine McCann, six months on”
“The 3,500-strong population of Rothley - its trees decked in yellow ribbons and messages of support - came to a near standstill as Kate and Gerry arrived from their nearby home”
Locals can’t move for the press?
Rothley is an “affluent Midlands enclave”. This is McCann Land – the enclave - a small territory culturally and ethnically different form the surrounding lands
Says Gerry in his blog: “We have no idea whether she is suffering, but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”
THE GUARDIAN: “Madeleine book notes the ‘contradictions’”
More on Maddie 129, a book by Hernani Carvalho and Luis Maia
“The message is that the case just doesn’t add up,” says a representative of the book’s publishers
THE SCOTSMAN: “Six months on, McCanns in new Maddie plea”
The picture of Madeleine on a Shetland pony was taken on a day out at the Hatton Country World park in Warwickshire on April 13 – “less than three weeks before she went missing”
THE TIMES: “Gerry McCann: ‘our princess prayer for Madeleine’”
Gerry McCann’s blog: “It is so painful for us simply being separated, but all the more distressing when we have to speculate about the situation Madeleine finds herself [in]. We have no idea whether she is suffering but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”

This is why people keep asking the questions they do. It’s not a matter of being “anit” McCann. It’s just that the stories the McCanns insist are true and that we should believe as so…well, incredible. As in, unworthy of belief. And we are not at all impressed that they are doctors. They seem dysfunctional, even before the incident. Why else do they apparently have no money to pay their own mortgage?

Thoughts :
The body might have been stored in a nearby villa. In a freezer in the 2nd cellar behind the locked. Owner none the wiser. Or does any of the bigger players (unknown at this stage) have interests in property there or nearby?
Murat is a real estate guy. Did they/tapas7? procure keys from him to check out empty villas for sale?
Find the right hideaway, get the key cut, voila and Murat would not even know.
Body removed by them/accomplice? after the initial searching and when things were quieter. They could have searched and cleared the real hiding place themselves. Would anyone have not taken their word in the early stages if any of the tapas9 had said “All clear here, don’t bother looking there we searched that just now!, Honest”.
The Vatican trip was the smokescreen. That’s when the body was moved. By whoever.
Disposed of, destroyed. Thus “Show us the body… ” Quote from Gerry, who really is so dumb or so arrogant, as to issue such a challenge to the PJ, I’m not sure which.
They didn’t count on a few other things, such as……
Mobile phonecalls that can be traced. Video cameras can record. CCTV that can record. DNA that can be identified. Anorak sleuths that will not be swayed either way, both sides helping to topple them. Computers that can be searched. Conflicting evidence is not good. Blatent lies are worse. Hostile Portuguese Press, at least after being poked with they’re own stick, Misleading information (the paying people to report false sightings claim was a good one). A good local Police Force who now after the ribbing they got will be doubley happy to lock up the perps.
I’m pro Madeleine, anti McCann and I think by the pro McCannist lobby keeping this web of deceit in the public eye can only but damage the McCanns even further.

Please publish a list of the people who use more than one name. From either standpoint. That would be delightful fun. Who is who in the Zoo? I wonder.

1081 Kitty,
Maria,
The McCanns don’t DO respect.
*******************************
I completely agree. Their being either unable or unwilling to hire a sitter for their children shows complete lack of respect for their own. And their inability or unwillingness to admit culpability for Madeleine’s disappearance is yet another expression of their lack of respect for not only Madeleine but all abused and exploited children.
They are extremely arrogant disrespectful people.

Remigius, I love Turkey and although did not stay at that hotel did go on archaeological expeditions where we toured caves and yes it was quite cool even in June. Also, I recall reading that it was unseasonably cool in PdL when the McCanns and friends were there.

Actually annie1 your pointing out my using a word that has come to be associated with the ridiculousness of the McCanns says so much more about you. As I said before, if stuck then maybe a few good orgasms will clear your foogy brain. If no lover is available (which seems to be the case) there are other options out there.

It sounds wild, but last year, I visited Turkey and went to this amazing place where they had cave hotels. My room was just carved out of a giant rock. And in the blistering heat of August in Turkey (a genuine misery, I assure you), it was so freezing cold, I needed to have the blanket on every night. Sweater. And we were not at all underground. Our cave was ABOVE ground!
Just in a rock, and freezing cold.
There are lots of ways to hide a body so it wouldn’t decompose so fast, for sure.
That doesn’t mean I know at all what happened! But we need to think hard, think critically, check it all out.

Agreed Kitty …as I’m trying to piece this together in my mind and the possibilities - I think one post was really pertinent - why are we looking at the window 9-10 pm to come up with explanations - I’m getting confused I wish someone would put this all into focus with a likely scenario(someone who has studied this case more than I) - bullet point the issues and controversies then we could focus on the possibilities - unfortunately I’m not that person but Peter may be…?

Thea - post 1043 that sounds feasible but aren’t the latest DNA reports saying definitely from a corpse not transferable DNA in the Mccanns hire car? That’s why I was askink the question what do you do with a decomposing body for 25 days
*************************
I’m not sure the shifting “facts” in this case are difficult to keep up with. I don’t believe they could keep the body for 25 days and then transport it unless they used the freezer or embalming? I won’t go into either of these later theories because there are witches and bitches and wankers and nutters like annie1 and ALEXIS here and I don’t feel like dealing with their intelligent rebuttals like: OOOoooooo you can cut and paste or that’s hurtful and ugly blah blah blah.

Maria,
The McCanns don’t DO respect.
They were probably (justifiably) concerned that they were going to be arrested and charged with child neglect, hence the meek and compliant behaviour when the PJ were initially called in.
As soon as it became clear that a child neglect charge wasn’t on the cards, their lack of respect to all concerned, not least their daughter, became apparent. It is that same lack of respect (evident in everything they do from stroppy interviews right down to popping into Next) which arouses suspicion and distaste, and not as their slimy PR would have us believe, their professional status, ‘lovely’ home, bla, bla, bla..
November 5th, 2007 at 1:07 am
OK thanks all so it IS - possible the body was moved by say someone ….maybe with a hire car - kept on ice - moved later by the Mccanns hence the DNA under the spare wheel and then disposed of under some diversion …for this to happen someone would have to have collaborated with them ….and it is almost unbelievable that anyone could act so callously and cynically in their own interest truly unbelievable…but again so is leaving three kids alone in an apartment whilst you went out for dinner or maybe drunk a share of 14 botltes of wine?

Edit….. As regards paying the mortgage with the funds, contributors knew that such expenses would have to be covered if the McCanns were engaged in the task of finding their daughter and not working. It was never a secret. Edit….

I do love it when folks on opposite sides of the debate can identify some ‘common ground’. I particularly liked this part of your post:
“if the McCanns were engaged in the task of finding their daughter”
Now I/we contributed to the fund and frankly I’d have happily parted with my money just to be able to see the golden couple heading off into the Moroccan hills donning their pith hats as they departed from the thronging media luvvies.

It will be interesting to read someday what really transpired in those hours and days after the crime was reported–without all the spin from both sides.
I think the first PJ team was overwhelmed since they rarely have crimes of this nature. I tend to believe the McCanns tried to take advantage of their provincial natures and mislead them and get away with hiding their tracks, cleaning up evidence, putting out false information.
Good night, for now. See you all tomorrow.

What a bitchy comment annie1? If someone is too lazy to use Google whilst claiming that I don’t know what I am talking about I think I can cut and paste. If a Mcpologist is adamant claiming that there were no maritime or helicopter searches for Madeleine by May 4th how are we to counter all their ludicrous mealy mouthed misinformation?
If you are feeling stuck maybe you need a good fuck? Instead of making rude comments online from the safety behind a glowing screen? Or are you judgenotlestyebejduged one in the same? If that’s the case then you can both shag yourselves silly.

My, you do enjoy ‘grand conspiracy’ theories don’t you?
The McCann’s have a very powerful legal team working for them. You can be rest assured there will be nobody on that list that will cast the slightest aspersion on the McCann’s because they will have made sure that those people genuinely saw nothing or will only be able to provide ‘evidence’ that cannot easily be contradicted/corroborated. So, don’t worry, I’m sure the legal team are well on top of it. Can’t spot ‘The Waiter’ on that list for instance.

Yes, it;s a long time, but if the body is kept cold, decomposition will slow.
and this could be true if, say, the body is loaded onto a sailboat. They have incredibnle refrigeration, pretty luxurious on many vessels, better than the fridge at home.
It is just good to think of everything, muse the pros and cons, don’t rule anything out (except maybe MOrocco!).

1057 Dr. Watson
There are writers and writers and writers, so I don’t think there is any such thing as “outing” a writer here! I am Remigious, a 15th century witch hunter from Lorraine. I heard the pro-McCanners complaining that Anorak was just a “witch hunt,” so I hurried right over as soon as I could!
I am of the Remi. I smell witchery, I do. So I am keen to chat with Anorakers like you!
Plus, I love Sherlock Holmes. Love Dr. Watson. Yes, we need their spirit with us, all those incarnations now!
But I did go back and check the postings. Found Sarah Whalen writing to Anorak under her own name early on. I doubt she hides. I may swipe things from her work every once in a while, just to get the word out. Because, as you say, the media is only printing what Comical Clarence tells them to!
The book I want to read is the one that Amaral writes! WE can buy him that lunch, you and I.

About the CCTV footage I remember a report saying that the PJ were analysing their movements after the campaign was lainched because they went to places that didn;t make sense on particular days I am assuming they followed this up…but don’t know for sure

Thank you for the link. Will definitely save it now.
Tinsel
I don’t really remember anything said about this when they became arguidos. Everything I “know” (and I admit it’s from the media) was at the time. They were criticised for contacting friends here because, when they finished searching at about 4.30am, the police were still doing nothing. At that time, whatever about the next day, the police were still telling people (even the next day, actually) that the little girl had wandered off and would probably be found safe and sound.
Other criticisms of the early investigation have come more recently from Rebelo and the new team, who are, in my view, doing an excellent job.
As a matter of fact, the McCanns were pathetically, but understandably, reluctant to do anything other than show respect to the police. GM often said how well he thought the police were doing. Obviously, they needed to try to keep the police on side to keep the focus on the investigation, but I think everyone, including the new PJ team, has now admitted what crass errors there were at the beginning.
PLEASE, PLEASE believe that I am NOT xenophobic. I do NOT say the British police do everything well. Er…no! I’m simply saying that the police in THIS particular case, did not cover themselves in glory in the early days.
Actually, I’m only mentioning this at all in the context of reports that the McCanns contacted the priest soon after Madeleine’s disappearance. I was only saying that there are reasonable alternative explanations to the one that they did it in order to confess to having killed Madeleine and asking him to let them bury her body behind his church! Yeah….right! Exactly what your average priest would agree to…..NOT! (Well, maybe he thought it would be better for the tourist trade if he agreed!)

Paul Luckman, “Portugal News”: McCann are guilty of leaving the children alone
“I was there (at Ocean Club) at 9.30 am, next day, and everybody was there: regular police, Policia Judiciaria, firemen, Civil Defence, all resources were there and everybody was looking for the child” - this was the description of Praia da Luz, made by Paul Luckman, editor of Portugal News, an English-language newspaper published in Algarve, during a debate in a TV program, “Sociedade Civil”, from RTP.
Paul Luckman said that “the parents are guilty of leaving their children alone” and criticized the fact that the McCann didn’t used the baby-sitting service available at Ocean Club: “A baby-sitter costs 12 euros per hour…” About what happened the night Madeleine disappeared, Luckman admitted that an accident could be something “possible”, in theory. The editor of “Portugal News” said that “the McCann and his team should stop criticizing Portugal and the Portuguese police”, and they should apologize, “because it was their fault, all of this problem.”

MADDY, 3 GOES MISSING
Agony as 3-yr-old vanishes from holiday flat
Martin Fricker In Praia Da Luz and Rod Chaytor 05/05/2007
………..A 24-hour search by police, hundreds of villagers and British holidaymakers failed to find any trace of the child.
Last night Gerry and Kate, of Rothley, Leics, issued a statement saying they were hopeful Maddy would be found safe and well. It read: “This is a particularly difficult time for the family and we are all comforting each other. We have received lots of support from friends, family and the public and are very grateful.
“All the family’s focus is in assisting the authorities in securing Madeleine’s return.”
Mark Warner management denied there were signs of forced entry at the flat claiming instead that roller shutters had been slid up and the bedroom window opened.
The firm added that police were keeping an open mind over whether Maddy had managed to leave the apartment on her own.
The McCanns were said to have chosen the complex as a “family-friendly resort.”
But they declined to take advantage of a baby-sitting service which would have left their children supervised while they dined.
Resort manager John Hill said around 60 staff and guests had searched until 4.30am yesterday as police contacted border authorities, neighbouring Spanish officers and airports.
Mr Hill said: “It was a very emotional and very frantic night and everyone did a fantastic job of getting involved and trying to search the area.
“There are a criminal investigator and around 20 officers here but unfortunately there’s still no information. If I was in the McCanns’ situation, I’d be frustrated as hell. If there were 100 police here I’d want more.”
The British Embassy said it had been informed about Maddy’s disappearance.
Portuguese police said: “It’s a sensitive case. It involves a child and we cannot give more information for now.”
Officers sealed off the five-storey holiday block with crime scene tape and fingerprinted the shutters and window sill outside Maddy’s room. A patio to the rear of the block, believed to be attached to the family’s two-bedroom apartment, was also sealed off.
By late afternoon the hunt for Maddy had intensified with helicopter crews, firemen and maritime search teams involved.
A special criminal investigation team from the Policia Judiciria was travelling down from Lisbon.
Sky News weather presenter Jo Wheeler said local police had been giving out maps and telling people where to look. She said: “It’s very well organised.”………………..
