Thing is, I tried a number of permutations for my nephew, sometimes omitting his middle name, sometimes omitting year of birth, but he was always on the list. I’ve tried Maddy’s full name, then omitting middle name etc, but she doesn’t come up whereas my nephew does and he was born the year before. I’ll ring the Leicester registrar tomorrow.
As for those of you interpreting the photos of Maddy, one idea would be to collate all those in which she is pictured with the twins. Then you can guage Maddy’s age by comparing her with the twins, who will be just babies in the earlier ones.
Just a suggestion.

I’m not offering any defence per se…
In a way I hope it is Madeleine in the US because, if her remains are that good, then so will the dna be…… I’ve always said I do NOT defend the McCanns, I don’t know if they could have done it or not, I just believe a different scenario for a number of reasons and I know instinct isn’t the best reason but there it is!!!
My kids will tell you my instincts are often right… they could never get away with anything!!

I haven’t read that the McCanns cannot travel because of their arguido status (although I can’t say one way or the other if it’s true for them or for Murat). I would expect that they would have to seek approval from the PJ before doing so. Perhaps Murat cannot see his daughter because of a ruling by a judge in family court, as a result of a request by the girl’s mother because of his arguido status and her concern for her own child’s safety?
Can you provide a link to a source that says the McCanns must stay in the UK? I’ve already done a preliminary search but so far haven’t been successful in finding the specific information.

1)Mccanns CAN travel to US, no problem, but for no more than 5 days. Bad defence you offer. Their arguido conditions have no restrictions, except informing PJ in case they leave for more than 5 days.
2)you have a feeling it is not her… What else can we expect from you? Again, poor move.

since it has been over six months and i have not read on gerry’s blog that he has visited a dentist in this time, i urge him to take my advice and visit a dental surgeon as soon as possible. since dental experts in portugese prisons are going to be few and far between.
the only reason i can imagine, that he has neglected his teeth is to make himself look less attractive when he’s in jail.
well, let me tell you this gerry. big Paco the portugese dude you gonna be sharing a cell with is not gonna spare your ass cheeks jus’ because you’ve got halitosis

And it’s a simple enough question - either he was there or he wasn’t. Matt asks the same question at 376 above, though the name is Seddon not Sneddon.
As for the birth certificate, I joined ancestry.co.uk on a free 14 day trial. It has a database of all births in England and Wales since 1983. So if you search on “Smith” for the first name and “John” for the second name it will give you a list of all John Smiths born since 1983. You can click on each one for the full name, place where registered, even the mother’s maiden name. Just to test it I put in the name of my nephew, born 2002, and up he came. But doing exactly the same thing I couldn’t find a Madeleine McCann registered in Leicester in 2003. Maybe I’m just rubbish at genealogy, so would anyone else care to give it a try?

Julie - I really do not know what to think re BG, considering the picture was made up by looking at the remains of a decomposed corpse, it really has an uncanny resemblence. The teeth are very similar for sure. Looking forward to the DNA results, just so we can have closure on this one.

Part of the conditions of them being allowed to leave Portugal.
isn’t that Murat’s problem? he can’t go to see his daughter. Though I do wonder why his wife doesn’t take the child to Portugal for a visit.
I would guess someone is already in the US on their behalf.

My instincts tell me its not Madeleine…. however I would hate to think of us losing interest if it isn’t.
I can’t believe that someone somewhere hasn’t recognised her and her clothes. I mean if it is Madeleine surely ALL the McCanns family, friends and acquaintances wouldn’t cover for them…… someone would recognise the clothes.
And if it isn’t her then someone in the US must surely recognise her…. how big is the story? I daren’t put Fox news on or I’ll never get any work done!
How can no-one notice that a little girl has disappeared?? Bizarre….

If the McCanns were truly convinced of their own and each other’s innocence in whatever ultimately happened to Madeleine, that shouldn’t stop them from traveling to the US. They are not arguidos there (here). Simply the confirmation that the corpse is Madeleine would not necessarily mean her parents were responsible for the death–that still would have to be proven.
So if the McCanns are innocent, we are still left with the mystery of why they don’t seem to be interested in the coincidence of this dead child, so similar to their own, appearing months after their own child disappeared. It’s another McCann behavior that appears very suspicious to me.

To Andrew, Matt, Stevo, Patch, and all who care. Thought I would let you know that I just got off the phone with the detective handling the case of the dead child, Baby Grace, who washed ashore on a deserted island near Galveston, Texas.Fishermen taking part in a fishing rodea offshore found her.
I’d called earlier when the sketch was released to point out the striking resemblance between Baby Grace and Madeleine McCann. He said he was in contact with the Portuguese police already.
He agreed with me that, based on the currents of Huelva, Spain and even just all around Spain and Portugal, it would be completely possible for the container with its body to have drifted out to sea, to have followed Columbus’s path to the New World, and that this is exactly where it would have come. He did say that only at the very end of the Gulf
Stream pattern does the theory break down just a bit, with the modern intrusion of the international waterway. But we discussed the theory that perhaps some yachtsman or fisherman saw the container, snagged it out of curiousity, and when they saw the contents, panicked and dumped it back out into the water, where it again floated on the tides, and
ended up on the island beach.
He said they are working on testing the dna right now.
We discussed how the body’s decomposition could have varied. He agreed that an explanation might be that someone involved in killing Madeleine could have stored her body in a cold place, which would have slowed decomposition, and that salt water will also slow decomposition.
It is also possible that whoever killed her may have kept her alive longer that is now speculated. But then, the cadaver fluids, etc. in the McCanns’ car and apartment
would be hard to explain.
But the little pink outfit…especially that pink cardigan with ruffled sleeves–that
cardigan is almost identical in color and style to one worn by Kate McCann the day the JP named her arguido.
Still, it may not be her.
Without saying so much, though, he told me the most disappointing thing was that the states of decomposition really didn’t add up completely. HE also stated vaguely that there were other more physical aspects that cast doubt on the little girls being the same
child, but that they would check out every single thing.
He confirmed that the child had died from a strong blow to the head, and they didn’t yet see any other signs of violent injury.

The only reason I can think of that the McCanns would not be flying to Galveston to see the remains of Baby Grace is that they are guilty. There are too many similarities to Madeleine to disregard it as a possibility. Even it were just a small chance it could be her, if I had the funds available to ‘find’ my daughter, I’d be on a plane immediately to determine for myself what the truth was. Wouldn’t you?

I’ve been lurking but I just to clear something up. Cherokee brand clothing is sold in the US in Target stores. I was surprised to find it here in the UK, but it is the same brand.
I think the McCanns are definitely hiding something.

I see there was a Service yesterday at the Nossa Senhora
Da Luz Church, PDL, Father Hubbard (Anglican ) attending.
Was the Catholic Priest, Father Jose Manuel Pacheco, present?
Likewise an Anglican Service at the Church of St. Mary and St.
John the Baptist.
Was the Catholic Priest Father Sneddon present?
Have the McCann’s had another Change of Devoutness
to the Church of England?
Seem very fickle in their religious allegiences.
