Madeleine McCann: Mafia, A Bag Of Clothes And Missing Children
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD: “Maddie DNA clue in airport bag”
A bag of clothes containing “DNA linked to Madeleine McCann” has been found dumped by a road in Portugal.” It is a white carrier bag. It was in a layby two weeks ago near Faro airport.
“The bag contained a blue fleece jacket and a pair of adult jeans with traces of DNA that contained ‘moderate’ links to Madeleine”. And: “There was also a SHOWER CURTAIN inside.” And a white flannel, a green elastic band, a light green child’s T-shirt with a green flower on the front and a pink and blue pencil case with a pink heart motif
“Godfather in Madeleine hunt… Crime godfathers in Morocco—where there have been several alleged sightings of Maddie - have been told cops will scale back drug busts if they do”
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MY LITTLE MADDY” - a picture of Madeleine McCann on a pony with Kate McCann by her side
• “McCanns heartache as Cops say: “Case closes in 7 weeks
• Police to leave cloud of suspicion over Kate and Gerry”
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY – McCANN FRIENDS TO BE NAMED AS SUSPECTS”
“Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, Matthew Oldfield and Dr David Payne were last night forced to bring in their own lawyers after increasing fears that Portuguese police were preparing to implicate them in the case of the vanished four-year-old girl”
So will they be named as suspects or not? The Express say yes and then prevaricates
DAILY STAR ON SUNDAY front page: “MADDIE SIX MONTHS ON – 15 NEW CLUES”
That picture of Madeleine McCann on a horse. A clue?
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “ANSWER OUR PRAYERS - ON THE SIX-MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF LOSING MADDIE Kate weeps at church service for Maddie as parents suffer crushing blow”
“The devout couple first took two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie for ‘a few moments of solitude’ at their village church to remember missing Maddie”
A solitude watched by person who told the press? No need with Clarence Mitchell to fill in the gaps, Says he: “Kate and Gerry wanted a few moments of solitude praying for Madeleine with the twins”
Inside the church: “A collage of pictures of a happy Maddie - including the one…of her sitting on a black Shetland pony - took pride of place near the altar. Six snaps of the youngster next to smiling faces of other missing children were pinned onto a green notice board. Supporters were encouraged to look at the pictures before praying”
And they pray for…
The People looks at “respected” Portuguese daily Publico, which tells: “Six months on from Madeleine’s disappearance, the police theory remains the same. That the child died by accident in her room - and her parents committed the crime of hiding her body”
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine’s parents hold prayer vigil six months to the minute after she disappeared”
There are about 200 people at the “700-year-old church” near Rothley, Leicestershire
The McCanns are suspects
“Other missing children - including British toddler Ben Needham, who disappeared while on holiday in Greece in 1991, were also remembered at the service”
Did Ben Needham’s family ask for this? Want it?
Says the Rev Rob Gladstone: “Comfort and liberate all those, especially young children who have been taken from their families against their will, give courage to their grieving families”
A board says “Pray for all missing children.” How were the faces on the board selected? Many children are missing
THE INDEPENDENT: “Six months after Madeleine, another 600 are still missing”
Missing persons charities yesterday released figures “showing that more than 600 children have been missing in the UK for as long as Madeleine McCann, and are still unaccounted for”
Many are foreign. Many are teenagers. Not all are blonde
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Prayers for Madeleine McCann, six months on”
“The 3,500-strong population of Rothley - its trees decked in yellow ribbons and messages of support - came to a near standstill as Kate and Gerry arrived from their nearby home”
Locals can’t move for the press?
Rothley is an “affluent Midlands enclave”. This is McCann Land – the enclave - a small territory culturally and ethnically different form the surrounding lands
Says Gerry in his blog: “We have no idea whether she is suffering, but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”
THE GUARDIAN: “Madeleine book notes the ‘contradictions’”
More on Maddie 129, a book by Hernani Carvalho and Luis Maia
“The message is that the case just doesn’t add up,” says a representative of the book’s publishers
THE SCOTSMAN: “Six months on, McCanns in new Maddie plea”
The picture of Madeleine on a Shetland pony was taken on a day out at the Hatton Country World park in Warwickshire on April 13 – “less than three weeks before she went missing”
THE TIMES: “Gerry McCann: ‘our princess prayer for Madeleine’”
Gerry McCann’s blog: “It is so painful for us simply being separated, but all the more distressing when we have to speculate about the situation Madeleine finds herself [in]. We have no idea whether she is suffering but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”

OMG Ade, I have this hysterical mental picture of you …. with all your “marvelous fun’ and “excellent fun” quotes. I picture you as this elderly old school teacher gent who talks with “hot potatoes” in his mouth …… ok, ok don’t take my head off ….. it’s just so hysterically funny for me whenever you end your posts off with those quotes

I think the McCanns should just shut up until we know whether they’re either cold heartless murderes or merely cold heartless parents…………….

Possibly a tad harsh……. Would be difficult to say it wasn’t fair though.

Julie,
While I agree the lack of more recent photos of Madeleine - particularly those taken during her time in PdL very odd for strategy in finding a missing child. The fact that the clothes Baby Grace was wearing are not labels sold in Europe and I didn’t think the sketch really looked like M at all means that sadly Baby Grace is just another very tragic story of an abused child.
Have a nice lunch.

Well, we burnt Katiepoos - complete with cuddlecat accessory - last night. She went up a treat, helped along by 12 wine bottles of kerosene.
I must say, it was hilarious watching a dozen 9-year olds dancing round the bonfire chanting “Burn in Hell, you Catholic Whore”.
Brought a tear to my eye!

The perils of PR spin.
precisely - I agree it was an off the record remark that slipped out ha ha. And it’s plastered all over the media for anyone with a brain to see
Reminds me of the Bush “Yo Blair” gaffe when the Idiot-in-Chief didn’t realise the microphone was on
And look what happened to Blair…
Marvellous entertainment - beats going to the flicks…

Agreed.
I suspect SKY have had a bellyful of negative public reaction - e-mails etc. from disgruntled members of the public - to their constant pro-McCann coverage, and therefore are now preparing the ground for a turnaround.
No news medium likes to be on the wrong side of public opinion on a major story like this

You know nothing about me or my personal circumstances. I know plenty about Kate McCann and her despicable lack care for her children when she abandoned them. The evidence is mounting and you choose to ignore it, yet you make an opinion and condemn me on the strength of one post. I wouldn’t want to be in Kate’s head when she closes her eyes at night. The McCanns must pay for their crimes. Yes, CRIMES.

This is all the fault of the fragrant pair. If they showed an ounce of GENUINE remorse they would get sympathy. They have never admitted they were wrong - “We are innocent - we have done nothing wrong”.
I personally enjoy watching them squirm.
I enjoy watching them being destroyed by the web of lies, PR spin and manipulation that they have created and shoved down our throats.
I enjoy watching them suffer and being made an example of.
They are getting precisely what they deserve - nothing more and nothing less.
The classic example of “hoisted by their own petard”.
Watching a PR disaster running into the buffers in slomo… excellent fun…

29 Northern Bird asked (November 4th, 2007 at 10:04 am)
1. “Tony Bennett - It was reported in The Times yesterday that the Portuguese police were building up a case against the McCanns based on the illegal disposal of abody and simulating a kidnapping - crimes which are punishable by 8 years imprisonment. What do you think?”
REPLY: I would like to think that this report may be accurate. It is obviously much much more difficult to prove murder or manslaughter etc. if you do not have the body.
The more I read about this case, the more I am sure that the McCanns - maybe together with other members of the ‘Tapas 9′ - arranged the effective and permanent disposal of the body. That might include such methods as: (a) weighting the body and dumping it at sea (b) a very good hiding place unlikely ever to be discovered (c) cremation or burning of the body or (d) dropping it down an old mining shaft or similar.
The illegal disposal of a body is indeed also a separate offence under English law. The offence you mention of ’simulating a kidnapping’ is no doubt akin to our ‘perverting the course of justice’.
I think that interfering with or perverting the course of justice or perjury are offfences which carry a maximum penalty of 14 years under British law.
In my judgment the PJ are indeed building a case against the McCanns - not necessarily for murder - and only overwhelming pressure and behind-the-scenes deals by the British governemt could result in their not facing at least some charges.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
2. “Also what do you make of the fact that the McCanns did not go through check in when they left Faro, apparently they had been requested by the British Ambassador to do so”.
REPLY: I did not know that, I’m grateful for the info - one of the great assets of Forums like this is the extra knowledge you gain from other posters. I cannot think of a good reason for the McCanns to avoid check-in. Did they go on a normal commercial flight? - or by private jet?
It would be interesting to know if the McCanns also had special clearance the other end i.e. when they flew into Heathrow, or East Midlands Airport, or wherever.
I have read theories that the McCanns may have tried to bring Madeleine’s remains back to Britian. i somehow doubt it.

Hi there and a very good morning to all (it’s afternoon here already)!
I eventually gave up last night trying to get back onto Anorak after we were all unceremoniously booted off, so I toddled off to bed!
I’ve just briefly scanned over the posts here, and something that I’ve been thinking about when I was at the shop this morning is something that Ian brought up a short while ago. We were discussing a few weeks ago about why more photographs of Madeleine on her last holiday weren’t released, and there were varying degrees of reasoning and arguments on this particular point.
Back to Baby Grace on this one ….. IF baby Grace does by a slim chance (and I do honestly believe there is a small chance here!), turn out to be Madeleine, then no-one who was responsible for placing a small child into a plastic box to be disposed of, would want a photograph floating around the world which showed one of the world’s most well-known missing children wearing pink and white “flashing” takkies now, would they?
Still haven’t managed to find the other photograph I was talking about last night ….. it just seems to have disappeared off the Internet entirely (and NO I didn’t imagine it
).
I’m busy making a lovely beef roast for lunch along with Afrikaans style veggies ….. anyone wanna come over for lunch

“But spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “This is a very old sighting which we were keen to get out there in September when everyone was busy implying the family had something to be guilty about.”
I agree that either Clarence is bonkers or else he slipped up and was talking to a trusted person while a reporter was listneing.
In September , it was obvious that those were old sightings, and it was very irritating to have the British press writing them up as if they were new sightings.
Now, Clarence has admitted that this was by his direction. Truly remarkable. This is an admission that he has been engaging in deceit, and obstruction of justice.

Anyone know if the suspect4 have been back to work in the last 6 months?
Are they working now?
Are they planning “unpaid leave of absence”?
These are important questions as they look likely to be about to experience the fate that murat endured - and the financial ruin that goes with it…
Unless someone steps in to pay their legal costs, of course.
Will beardie branson stick his head above the parapet even more to help these suspect4 accomplices?
Will the current benefactors (beardie, rowling and the window cleaner) look at the developing situation and decide they made a mistake with the McConns - and withdraw their cash?
How will this impact on how the slush fund is spent?
Will the slush fund pay the suspect4’s mortgages as well?
Will Oldfield (already under investigation for the death of a patient) get the sack?
What ripping fun

……………………….
where did the story about check-in come from?
it was shown live on all the TV news. They were shown queueing up and going thru check in along with everyone else on the flight! And they were in the departure lounge with everyone else. They boarded the flight ahead of the rest of the passengers but so did others with children.
Be interested to know where the story came from…..
In this day and age even private jet passengers have to go thru the same procedures as everyone else with immigration, luggage xrays and customs. Quicker of course and there are dedicated staff to smooth the passage through the airport but it still has to happen.

Why do you ‘hope she is tormented?’ I find it sickening and bizarre that any person would WANT another person to be suffering, especially over a missing child. Twisted.

that sky news poll is significant i feel in that:
1) they are doing a poll at all
2) the question is loaded against the McConns in the first place
Are we to assume that murdoch has done a u-turn against the favoured pair?
Will the sun and times now have editorials about poor parenting?
Is it all happening because the suspect 4 have been put in the frame to have their collars felt?
I think we are in for an interesting next few days - and some good entertainment…

Transfatty has also noted BBC’s fall from grace:
Spin, Spin and More Spin
It never ceases to amaze me that people consider the BBC as the gold standard of journalism.
To get some idea of how low the standards have sunk at the corporation you need look no further than this.
It contains all the elements of the McCann black propaganda campaign: the xenophobic attacks of the Portugese police, the retired ex-copper spouting off about an investigation he has no direct information about, the sentimentalisation of the McCanns and their heroic struggle and the complete absence of any mention of the political aspects of the affair and the way the British government have meddeled in the investigation form the start: in short it is unbalanced and lacking objectivity.
Something more amusing is the number of Mcpologists who have popped up to say how wonderful it is that people are letting off fireworks to commemorate the six month anniversary.
Which is odd, since it was my belief that the fireworks were related to Guy Fawkes.
peace:)

My husband is urging me to stop coming on anorak as I now see dead people. Wel.l, I’ve actually had a number of really upsetting dreams about Madeleine. I wonder if the McCanns dream of her? They can control themselves when awake but what happens when they close their eyes? I suspect Gerry just dreams about world domination but what does Kate see? I hope she is tormented.

SIR RICHARD BRANSON, TEAM McCANN, NORTHERN ROCK AND PROFESSOR TIM CONGDON
Veering off-topic, I know, but just as you can’t trust the BBC on Northern Rock, you can’t trust them to report accurately on Madeleine McCann. Here’s a report from an acquaintance of mine:
QUOTE
Newsnight on Friday night (3 November) had a piece on Northern Rock and its £23bn borrowings.
In the studio afterwards were Vince Cable and Professor Tim Congdon.
Good old Vinny argued that the bank had been behaving ‘recklessly’, but the ***supposedly independent expert*** Congdon was strangely emotional, insisting Cable had his figures wrong, and that, and I quote, ‘Everything is fine.’
Now, his entire argument was based on the most recent FSA/audit reports raising no concerns about Northern Rock’s standing. But can a financial expert really be so stupid as to place all his faith in these charlatans? Has he forgotten about Arthur Andersen/Enron?
He was so emotional, it seemed obvious that there must be more to it.
So I did a 10-second Google check and, lo and behold, a recent FT article about him ends with the disclosure that ‘The writer’s latest book is ‘Keynes, the Keynesians and Monetarism’. He has shares in Northern Rock’.
Now, surprise, surprise, the BBC either didn’t know this, or chose not to tell the viewer.

15. m.e., I don’t believe this story is true. News of World feels fairly ridiculous as far as tabloids go. Although, I suspect the story about the woman ’suferring’ from ease of orgasm (she has about 200 daily!) or Permanent Sexual Arousal Syndrome (PSAS), which increases blood flow to the sex organs, is absolutely true.
Oh and I have not yet found this story being reported by any other news org.

just got back from church, as a 6 month anniversary, the vicar mentioned maddie in his prayers, he also mentioned the parents and said he hoped they would confess if they were guilty, to alieviate the stress and pressure they are under, quite a bizarre statement i thought

Could it be that Sir Richard Branson is trying to ‘rescue’ two sinking ships at the same time? - Northern Rock and Team McCann?
==========================================================
Branson Confirms Northern Rock Interest
A consortium led by Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group has confirmed interest in a potential rescue of crisis-hit mortgage lender Northern Rock.
Under the proposals, the group would inject “substantial new equity” into Northern Rock, renaming and rebranding the business as part of Virgin Money.
Sir Richard, CEO of the Virgin Group, told Sky News: “We have been planning this ever since we saw the queues around the Northern Rock building society. It was very sad to see that.
“It was a great company. We felt that Virgin could put a rescue package together. We have successful experience in savings products and we have very strong financial partners.”
His approach is backed by US insurance group AIG, buyout firm WL Ross, investment group Toscafund and Hong Kong based investment group First Eastern.
Virgin Money already offers mortgages, credit cards and insurance services.
The company is just one of a number of suitors said to be circling Northern Rock, which has seen its share price dive since it was forced to seek emergency funding from the Bank of England last month.
Earlier this month, it emerged that New York-based private equity firm JC Flowers was planning a £10bn bid for the bank, and private equity firm Cerberus is also understood to be interested in the firm’s assets.
Banking giant Citi has also agreed to be on hand to lend Northern Rock some £10bn to help ease its funding problems.
The Northern Rock crisis has led to major criticisms of the banking regulatory system - Chancellor Alistair Darling is considering introducing new legislation to increase protection for savers’ deposits.
The group had to call on the BoE after it was faced with soaring borrowing costs amid tighter credit markets following the collapse of the sub-prime mortgage market in the US.
The sub-prime market consists of loans to borrowers with poor credit records which give a higher return because they are a higher risk - the number of defaults has been growing.

okay…………… Then how come giving them arguido status gave so many here the right to assume their guilt?
You can’t have it both ways!
Anorak…. I think other children missing under similar circumstance shoud be mentioned (Ben Needham for one) but there’s a world of difference between these children and those who are the victims of parental abduction.
IMO of course!
