Madeleine McCann: Mafia, A Bag Of Clothes And Missing Children
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD: “Maddie DNA clue in airport bag”
A bag of clothes containing “DNA linked to Madeleine McCann” has been found dumped by a road in Portugal.” It is a white carrier bag. It was in a layby two weeks ago near Faro airport.
“The bag contained a blue fleece jacket and a pair of adult jeans with traces of DNA that contained ‘moderate’ links to Madeleine”. And: “There was also a SHOWER CURTAIN inside.” And a white flannel, a green elastic band, a light green child’s T-shirt with a green flower on the front and a pink and blue pencil case with a pink heart motif
“Godfather in Madeleine hunt… Crime godfathers in Morocco—where there have been several alleged sightings of Maddie - have been told cops will scale back drug busts if they do”
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MY LITTLE MADDY” - a picture of Madeleine McCann on a pony with Kate McCann by her side
• “McCanns heartache as Cops say: “Case closes in 7 weeks
• Police to leave cloud of suspicion over Kate and Gerry”
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY – McCANN FRIENDS TO BE NAMED AS SUSPECTS”
“Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, Matthew Oldfield and Dr David Payne were last night forced to bring in their own lawyers after increasing fears that Portuguese police were preparing to implicate them in the case of the vanished four-year-old girl”
So will they be named as suspects or not? The Express say yes and then prevaricates
DAILY STAR ON SUNDAY front page: “MADDIE SIX MONTHS ON – 15 NEW CLUES”
That picture of Madeleine McCann on a horse. A clue?
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “ANSWER OUR PRAYERS - ON THE SIX-MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF LOSING MADDIE Kate weeps at church service for Maddie as parents suffer crushing blow”
“The devout couple first took two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie for ‘a few moments of solitude’ at their village church to remember missing Maddie”
A solitude watched by person who told the press? No need with Clarence Mitchell to fill in the gaps, Says he: “Kate and Gerry wanted a few moments of solitude praying for Madeleine with the twins”
Inside the church: “A collage of pictures of a happy Maddie - including the one…of her sitting on a black Shetland pony - took pride of place near the altar. Six snaps of the youngster next to smiling faces of other missing children were pinned onto a green notice board. Supporters were encouraged to look at the pictures before praying”
And they pray for…
The People looks at “respected” Portuguese daily Publico, which tells: “Six months on from Madeleine’s disappearance, the police theory remains the same. That the child died by accident in her room - and her parents committed the crime of hiding her body”
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine’s parents hold prayer vigil six months to the minute after she disappeared”
There are about 200 people at the “700-year-old church” near Rothley, Leicestershire
The McCanns are suspects
“Other missing children - including British toddler Ben Needham, who disappeared while on holiday in Greece in 1991, were also remembered at the service”
Did Ben Needham’s family ask for this? Want it?
Says the Rev Rob Gladstone: “Comfort and liberate all those, especially young children who have been taken from their families against their will, give courage to their grieving families”
A board says “Pray for all missing children.” How were the faces on the board selected? Many children are missing
THE INDEPENDENT: “Six months after Madeleine, another 600 are still missing”
Missing persons charities yesterday released figures “showing that more than 600 children have been missing in the UK for as long as Madeleine McCann, and are still unaccounted for”
Many are foreign. Many are teenagers. Not all are blonde
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Prayers for Madeleine McCann, six months on”
“The 3,500-strong population of Rothley - its trees decked in yellow ribbons and messages of support - came to a near standstill as Kate and Gerry arrived from their nearby home”
Locals can’t move for the press?
Rothley is an “affluent Midlands enclave”. This is McCann Land – the enclave - a small territory culturally and ethnically different form the surrounding lands
Says Gerry in his blog: “We have no idea whether she is suffering, but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”
THE GUARDIAN: “Madeleine book notes the ‘contradictions’”
More on Maddie 129, a book by Hernani Carvalho and Luis Maia
“The message is that the case just doesn’t add up,” says a representative of the book’s publishers
THE SCOTSMAN: “Six months on, McCanns in new Maddie plea”
The picture of Madeleine on a Shetland pony was taken on a day out at the Hatton Country World park in Warwickshire on April 13 – “less than three weeks before she went missing”
THE TIMES: “Gerry McCann: ‘our princess prayer for Madeleine’”
Gerry McCann’s blog: “It is so painful for us simply being separated, but all the more distressing when we have to speculate about the situation Madeleine finds herself [in]. We have no idea whether she is suffering but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”

I saw Gone Baby Gone on Friday and have to say the similarities to the Madeleine case are nil.
In fact, if Messrs. Afleck and Co. thought they’d delay the movie in the UK because of Madeleine I think it’s disrespectful to any other missing children cases.
The parent in the movie is a drug-addicted white-trash mother and as you’d expect, drugs and guns feature in the movie more than any plot. Sure there’s a plot or thread but I walked out the movie theater wishing I’d seen something else and not wasted my money. Just my opinion - others may like it.

Which begs the question, why not wait for conclusive evidence before you continue with the total character assassination on the kid’s parents? When we know they are guilty, say what you like. Proof of their involvement means they deserve everything and anything that is thrown at them (aside from public hanging…..that was facetiousness….).I just don’t know how people can post some of the sickeningly obscene suggestions of what they think happened the night of the 3rd May and still think, in their own minds, they are in any way superior to the McCanns. Nope, you’re not.
Until i personally know for sure the McCanns have anything to do with Madeleine’s death, they are innocent. I have more definite opinions about some of the posters in here, though. Some really sink lower than a snake’s belly in a wagon rut.

KATE and Gerry McCann are the subjects of a vile whispering campaign, which has led to them suffering a daily torrent of smears.
As they still try to come to terms with the loss of four-year-old Madeleine they continually face new accusations, including that they were responsible for her death.
And despite the couple’s swift, strenuous and increasingly exasperated denials to every one of the allegations, they have failed to dampen the appetite of the Portuguese media for new smears. The lies include:
Kate’s guilt
Portuguese TV reporter Sandra Felguiras is said to have implied during one live broadcast recently that Mrs McCann could have murdered her daughter. A source close to the couple’s family described the comments as “outrageous”.
Drugging their children
The McCanns, both doctors, have been accused of “drugging” their children to make them sleep so they could go out. The claim came from unnamed police sources who doubted Madeleine’s two-year-old twin brother and sister could have slept through her abduction. Last week magazine Tal&Qual suggested they accidentally killed her with an overdose. The couple say they have never used sedatives on their children and never would.
Wife-swapping holidays
A retired detective claimed, without foundation on a TV programme, that Kate and Gerry were “swingers” who enjoyed wife-swapping with the friends who were their dinner party companions. Despite a lack of evidence, the claim was picked up by local newspapers.
Excessive drinking
Rumours that the couple and their friends were drunk when they should have been looking after their children began among holidaymakers in Praia da Luz and were picked up by local journalists. The McCanns deny they drank on May 3, when Madeleine went missing.
Children left to cry
Neighbours at the Ocean Club are said to have told of the McCanns leaving their children while they went out to enjoy themselves, including once in a town 15 minutes’ drive away. Kate and Gerry insist they ate every night at a restaurant less than a minute from the flat.
SEARCH NEWS / SHOWBIZfor:
Killed in the apartment
Various newspapers and television stations have discounted the abduction theory, and claim Madeleine died in the apartment, through the negligence of her parents or murder. Journalists who made the claim cannot explain why detectives might think this.
A body in the hire car
Other newspapers have reported the existence of forensic evidence that Madeleine’s body had been in the family’s rental car. This claim re-emerged at the weekend with reports that the scent of a corpse had been discovered by a sniffer dog on the hire car’s key. The couple rented the car five weeks after their daughter disappeared.
Emergency call delay
Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias cited an unnamed holiday resort worker who falsely claimed the McCanns opted to contact the media and a priest before police. The McCanns issued a denial to a baseless story.
Intercepted phone calls and emails
Diario de Noticias also said police had “intercepted” communications between the McCanns and their friends which were said to provide “decisive proof” that Madeleine was not kidnapped. The McCanns handed police all their phone and computer records soon after the crime.
Friends under suspicion
The newspaper 24 Horas claimed members of the holiday party were “under surveillance” in

Also agree. And, if the McCanns turn out to be innocent, AND admit they were very wrong to leave 3 small children alone, then I will admit that my judgement has been wrong.
However, in that case I would also be advising them to reconsider their choice of friends, because the Tapparati have certainly helped to make the McCanns look guilty.

Are you here to discuss anything or just post advertising for the Mccanns ‘defence’?”
Pointless to discuss the press claims and counter-claims now. So let me ask you a question: Are you a parent, and if so, what kind of parent (i. e. a single parent, living as a family or whatever).

No one calls their many ‘apparent’ bluffs. If they were truly serious about working with the PJ theyd take all their lawyers and go to Portugal voluntarily. Why not?

I did oversimply things with the labels anti-McCann and pro-McCann, I know. Perhaps I should have taken time to spell it out. What I meant is that most of us who post here have fallen into two general groups: those who are, at the least, suspicious of the McCanns, and those who believe they are very likely innocent and strongly support them.
I myself are open to the possibility that the McCanns were neglectful and their unnatural behaviors make them look worse than they are and am careful with what I post about them, keeping that in mind.
This whole affair has an Alice-in-Wonderland (or Twilight Zone) feel to it. Some times I do think that we are being put on, as too many aspects of this case have an unreal quality to it–too many bizarre happenings.

Thank you for the apology.
Yesterday I was at a historic civil rights march to protest hate crimes after a 20 year old girl who was tortured, raped, sodomised and forced to eat rat, dog and human faeces. She was made to drink urine and had multiple stab wounds on her body, along with marks on her neck after being made to wear a noose. Add that she had a broomhandle forced into her backside such that when police found the handle, it was covered in excrement and blood, it paints a very graphic picture of the six evil “people” that did the heinous acts on this young girl.
Yes, humans can be worse than animals.

I wouldnt argue with that. I think they may be getting the wrong advice from the many people they have clustering around them and making money from the loss of this child.
We have to remember that they are all vultures, these lawyers, PR people, even the likes of that woman who made her fortune writing Harry Potter and Branson are involved for reasons of self publicising - otherwise why not quietly support them without the need to let people know who they are?

How do you know which, if any, or how many, questions they refused to answer? I wasn’t at their interrogations so I don’t know. (Of course I have the same access to the Daily Rag as you have.)
They have constantly reiterated their willingness to be reinterviewed, constantly. That’s through their official spokesman (whom I dislike) and NOT just through the Daily Rag. We keep hearing that they will be requestioned (”within days”) but then nothing happens. Maybe the PJ are waiting for more forensic results, or whatever, but they could call them back to Portugal or question them here in the UK any time they want.

Seconded. But if they turn out to be guilty the media will be calling the loudest for them to be flogged and hanged.

511 Jolie. I think the people here who arent pro-mccann (I’d say there are plenty here who are sensible, common sense people who just find more evidence indicating the Mccanns are hiding ’something’) arent ‘anti-Mccann’ as such, they are more anti what the Mccanns did and say about what they did that night.
That is the Mccanns dont admit being neglectful and claim they had been ‘led astray’ by feeling ‘incredibly safe’ (sic) and people dont like it.
As John Stalker says, they seem as if they are hiding ’something’.
It may well be that they are simply hiding from being able to be charged with neglect, which would be catastrophic for doctors and would also spoil the new careers they seem to want. But even a small liebuilds up into much greaster lies and creates suspicions.
November 4th, 2007 at 6:07 pm

I have an apology for you. The other night you were being got at for saying that anyone who killed children were worse than animals. It was actually me that said that.
I tried to put the record straight at the time but could not get a post to go through.
