Madeleine McCann: Mafia, A Bag Of Clothes And Missing Children
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD: “Maddie DNA clue in airport bag”
A bag of clothes containing “DNA linked to Madeleine McCann” has been found dumped by a road in Portugal.” It is a white carrier bag. It was in a layby two weeks ago near Faro airport.
“The bag contained a blue fleece jacket and a pair of adult jeans with traces of DNA that contained ‘moderate’ links to Madeleine”. And: “There was also a SHOWER CURTAIN inside.” And a white flannel, a green elastic band, a light green child’s T-shirt with a green flower on the front and a pink and blue pencil case with a pink heart motif
“Godfather in Madeleine hunt… Crime godfathers in Morocco—where there have been several alleged sightings of Maddie - have been told cops will scale back drug busts if they do”
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MY LITTLE MADDY” - a picture of Madeleine McCann on a pony with Kate McCann by her side
• “McCanns heartache as Cops say: “Case closes in 7 weeks
• Police to leave cloud of suspicion over Kate and Gerry”
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY – McCANN FRIENDS TO BE NAMED AS SUSPECTS”
“Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, Matthew Oldfield and Dr David Payne were last night forced to bring in their own lawyers after increasing fears that Portuguese police were preparing to implicate them in the case of the vanished four-year-old girl”
So will they be named as suspects or not? The Express say yes and then prevaricates
DAILY STAR ON SUNDAY front page: “MADDIE SIX MONTHS ON – 15 NEW CLUES”
That picture of Madeleine McCann on a horse. A clue?
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “ANSWER OUR PRAYERS - ON THE SIX-MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF LOSING MADDIE Kate weeps at church service for Maddie as parents suffer crushing blow”
“The devout couple first took two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie for ‘a few moments of solitude’ at their village church to remember missing Maddie”
A solitude watched by person who told the press? No need with Clarence Mitchell to fill in the gaps, Says he: “Kate and Gerry wanted a few moments of solitude praying for Madeleine with the twins”
Inside the church: “A collage of pictures of a happy Maddie - including the one…of her sitting on a black Shetland pony - took pride of place near the altar. Six snaps of the youngster next to smiling faces of other missing children were pinned onto a green notice board. Supporters were encouraged to look at the pictures before praying”
And they pray for…
The People looks at “respected” Portuguese daily Publico, which tells: “Six months on from Madeleine’s disappearance, the police theory remains the same. That the child died by accident in her room - and her parents committed the crime of hiding her body”
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine’s parents hold prayer vigil six months to the minute after she disappeared”
There are about 200 people at the “700-year-old church” near Rothley, Leicestershire
The McCanns are suspects
“Other missing children - including British toddler Ben Needham, who disappeared while on holiday in Greece in 1991, were also remembered at the service”
Did Ben Needham’s family ask for this? Want it?
Says the Rev Rob Gladstone: “Comfort and liberate all those, especially young children who have been taken from their families against their will, give courage to their grieving families”
A board says “Pray for all missing children.” How were the faces on the board selected? Many children are missing
THE INDEPENDENT: “Six months after Madeleine, another 600 are still missing”
Missing persons charities yesterday released figures “showing that more than 600 children have been missing in the UK for as long as Madeleine McCann, and are still unaccounted for”
Many are foreign. Many are teenagers. Not all are blonde
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Prayers for Madeleine McCann, six months on”
“The 3,500-strong population of Rothley - its trees decked in yellow ribbons and messages of support - came to a near standstill as Kate and Gerry arrived from their nearby home”
Locals can’t move for the press?
Rothley is an “affluent Midlands enclave”. This is McCann Land – the enclave - a small territory culturally and ethnically different form the surrounding lands
Says Gerry in his blog: “We have no idea whether she is suffering, but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”
THE GUARDIAN: “Madeleine book notes the ‘contradictions’”
More on Maddie 129, a book by Hernani Carvalho and Luis Maia
“The message is that the case just doesn’t add up,” says a representative of the book’s publishers
THE SCOTSMAN: “Six months on, McCanns in new Maddie plea”
The picture of Madeleine on a Shetland pony was taken on a day out at the Hatton Country World park in Warwickshire on April 13 – “less than three weeks before she went missing”
THE TIMES: “Gerry McCann: ‘our princess prayer for Madeleine’”
Gerry McCann’s blog: “It is so painful for us simply being separated, but all the more distressing when we have to speculate about the situation Madeleine finds herself [in]. We have no idea whether she is suffering but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”

Aren’t the Rif mountains right on the coast? One whiff of headlines such as ‘We are closing in on Moroccan hideout’ and any kidnapped child would be whisked away immediately. They would hardly sit there waiting for a knock on the door.

FROM TODAY’S Correio da Manhã - provisional translation:
++++++++++++++++++++++
Madeleine: “We are not going to drop the investigation”
“It’s ridiculous. Even we do not have the power to drop the investigation … This is a manipulation of the whole piece, “says an official source of the Judicial Police, confronted by SOS Madeleine with the information disclosed by the Daily Mail quoting - turn the Sunday Mirror-come Portuguese police who is preparing to leave the investigation to Christmas.
“I can assure you that there is not a single police inspector who could have them this assertion”, “confirms the same source:” we depend on the Public Ministry, PJ has no authority to decide to abandon the investigation, especially at the stage where he is now. ”
The prosecutor José Magalhães e Meneses, responsible for the conduct of investigations, had already asked the judge criminal, Pedro Frias, considering the complexity of the case in order to prolong the secret of Justice until the first quarter of 2008.
The information, originally published by the Sunday Mirror, advance again that the Portuguese authorities did not have enough evidence against McCann, also attributing these statements to the police but, in Portugal, the PJ denies having given this information, and points out that “the inspector Paulo Rebelo follows a line of inquiry that has strengthened his last days.”
Even sound of a bell in the UK or a police officer from Leicester confirmed that the investigation is progressing, “as our Portuguese colleagues have informed us.”
Asked about the information published in the British press about the investigations Metodo3, the same British officer, asserts that “the police has no information about the existence of a runway that would confirm the presence of the girl child in Morocco. ”
“The investigation is being conducted by the Portuguese police but we know that they have checked each track and testimony via the Moroccan authorities and Interpol,” the officer concluded.
Today, the British newspaper News Of The World, confirmed that Moroccan security to investigate the possible avenues in the north have had for the month of May. The media took the same survey SOS Madeleine regarding contact with families who control drug production in the Rif mountains, or, since May, no trace of Madeleine McCann can be reached at”.

Yes, and it is interesting that they decided upon making the abduction take place while at the restaurant, rather than later on while everyone was asleep.
“Tell me your joking? lol”
I don’t see anything funny. Why did the McCanns/Tapas9 pretend that an abduction took place around 9:30 PM? The McCanns could have waited until morning, and claimed that when they went to awaken the children, Madeleine was gone. It would be easier to say they left the door open after a night of drinking, and there would be less criticism of them if they were present when the girl was “snatched”.
Instead, they made up a lie that involved a grave admission of child negligence. I would have to assume that the McCanns genuinely have no idea what constitutes child negligence, and so they did not see this as a problem.
But the more basic reason their lie was formed that way is this:
They did not have much time to fashion a big lie. They created the lie by basing it upon truth. It was TRUE that every night a pedophile(s) was in the apartment sexually abusing the children. So for them it was but a short step to create a fiction that during this time a pedophile abducted Madeleine.
However, they felt it necessary to lie about the fact that ALL of the children were in that apartment. Even so, a part of their lie reflects that truth: the idea that by going to check on the McCanns’ kids , they were also checking on their own kids.

Thanks for the reply Halkadiki but…………..I’m lost for words really.

If the UK press were actually acting impartially and providing sensible reporting on the issue, many of us would not feel compelled to be discussing this case ad nauseum, trying to suss out the truth of what happened to Madeleine and why the McCanns are being protected and supported to an uprecedented degree by people within the government, wealthy individuals, and the press. The distortions printed and broadcast make us want to find the truth ourselves and touch base with people who do not believe the McCanns or press are being truthful.
If there wasn’t an uprising of the public expressing their doubts about the McCanns, would this case just be ‘worked out’ and the truth never exposed, due to political influences on the process? Would that be satisfactory–for us to sit back and let things unfold as the powers-that-be work things out for themselves? Remain happy sheep, accepting what we’re told? Don’t mistake me as thinking that this forum will solve the crime or on its own push for a fair trial, but the whole of the British public can influence its government by its opinions, perhaps.
People should not be certain of anything regarding this case (other than leaving three children under 4 years alone), but they do not have to suspend their judgement in analyzing news reports and suspects’ behavior.
I do not think we should keep our voices quiet until the case is finalized, but I agree people should be reasonable and humane when discussing the McCanns. Some of the posters here do go overboard with their condemnations, I think.

If I took my daughter and stood her in the middle of the road, I could safely assume something bad might happen and I would be responsible for her being hit by a car even though I wasn’t the one actually driving the car. Whatever comes after that I would be responsible for the initial act of negligence, as are the McCanns.

“……… I think they may be getting the wrong advice from the many people they have clustering around them and making money from the loss of this child”.
The whole pr thing has, imho, been a massive mistake and has been totally been geared around getting us ‘joe public’ to not only believe in their total innocence of all ‘crimes’ but also to make us LIKE them….how they think this has helped find Madeleine God only knows!

What a facile thing to say “many posters….just want to enjoy the public hanging. Wouldn’t really matter who was being hanged….Murat, McCanns, Tapas friends, etc…..” I am sorry to say that you gurgle words, rather like lukewarm water from an old chipped tap, slowly filling up a bath. Do you really think about what you write? Do you really read what others write? If you did you couldn’t say what you said because it is absolutely not true. It’s rot. Do you know it but you just like to write stuff - any stuff?

I forgot to add that those 6 demons held this girl for a week before police got a tip-off and were able to go and find her.
I met the girl and her family and it was an unforgettable experience. I saw the marks on her neck and she had shown stab scars on her leg. Apart from giving my best wishes, it was impossible to ask them any questions because what do you ask someone who went through that? Her father told me that she is healing physically a lot better than they expected but mentally, I saw her for hours yesterday and saw her happy one minute and crying the next. It was truly a moving experience.

547 Louise - just because in law people are presumed innocent, this doesnt mean they are presumed innocent by police or anyone else. Its jsut a legal position to ensure they are not punished, generally the burden of proof is on the prosecution (but not in all scenarios in English and Welsh law).
Its not safe in theorising to limit theories in such a way as to assume either guilt or innocence - ‘not known’ is the only stance an investigator can really assume. However, it is necessary to asusme one way or another for specific theories.
e.g. lets asusme they are guily, ‘what if?’ or lets assume they are innocent, ‘what if?’. Also levels of innocence. They may be guilty of neglect, for example, or they may not be guilty of neglect (it could be a smoke screen for something else).
Thats why ‘pro-Mccanns’ arent actually theorising - as they stick to one supposition. Its very limiting.
If you think they are innocent of anything, then why bother coming and posting here?

Peter O merely pointed out that you had no evidence that the scam you described had taken place. You of course omitted to reply and instead went into attack mode, changed subject and accused me of being in league with Garth, Clarence et all. Sorry, I don’t remember Clarrie’s comments about that. Any hints or links? Just forgotten, sorry. I meant that he frequently has said, when we’ve heard these so-called “reports” of further interviews that they’d be perfectly happy to cooperate. I don’t think it’s bluff as it could be called at any moment. Did he also make specific comments about their alleged refusal to answer some questions? I dislike him so much that I rarely pay too much attention. Too much associated in my mind with Blair.
