Madeleine McCann: Mafia, A Bag Of Clothes And Missing Children
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD: “Maddie DNA clue in airport bag”
A bag of clothes containing “DNA linked to Madeleine McCann” has been found dumped by a road in Portugal.” It is a white carrier bag. It was in a layby two weeks ago near Faro airport.
“The bag contained a blue fleece jacket and a pair of adult jeans with traces of DNA that contained ‘moderate’ links to Madeleine”. And: “There was also a SHOWER CURTAIN inside.” And a white flannel, a green elastic band, a light green child’s T-shirt with a green flower on the front and a pink and blue pencil case with a pink heart motif
“Godfather in Madeleine hunt… Crime godfathers in Morocco—where there have been several alleged sightings of Maddie - have been told cops will scale back drug busts if they do”
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MY LITTLE MADDY” - a picture of Madeleine McCann on a pony with Kate McCann by her side
• “McCanns heartache as Cops say: “Case closes in 7 weeks
• Police to leave cloud of suspicion over Kate and Gerry”
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY – McCANN FRIENDS TO BE NAMED AS SUSPECTS”
“Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, Matthew Oldfield and Dr David Payne were last night forced to bring in their own lawyers after increasing fears that Portuguese police were preparing to implicate them in the case of the vanished four-year-old girl”
So will they be named as suspects or not? The Express say yes and then prevaricates
DAILY STAR ON SUNDAY front page: “MADDIE SIX MONTHS ON – 15 NEW CLUES”
That picture of Madeleine McCann on a horse. A clue?
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “ANSWER OUR PRAYERS - ON THE SIX-MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF LOSING MADDIE Kate weeps at church service for Maddie as parents suffer crushing blow”
“The devout couple first took two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie for ‘a few moments of solitude’ at their village church to remember missing Maddie”
A solitude watched by person who told the press? No need with Clarence Mitchell to fill in the gaps, Says he: “Kate and Gerry wanted a few moments of solitude praying for Madeleine with the twins”
Inside the church: “A collage of pictures of a happy Maddie - including the one…of her sitting on a black Shetland pony - took pride of place near the altar. Six snaps of the youngster next to smiling faces of other missing children were pinned onto a green notice board. Supporters were encouraged to look at the pictures before praying”
And they pray for…
The People looks at “respected” Portuguese daily Publico, which tells: “Six months on from Madeleine’s disappearance, the police theory remains the same. That the child died by accident in her room - and her parents committed the crime of hiding her body”
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine’s parents hold prayer vigil six months to the minute after she disappeared”
There are about 200 people at the “700-year-old church” near Rothley, Leicestershire
The McCanns are suspects
“Other missing children - including British toddler Ben Needham, who disappeared while on holiday in Greece in 1991, were also remembered at the service”
Did Ben Needham’s family ask for this? Want it?
Says the Rev Rob Gladstone: “Comfort and liberate all those, especially young children who have been taken from their families against their will, give courage to their grieving families”
A board says “Pray for all missing children.” How were the faces on the board selected? Many children are missing
THE INDEPENDENT: “Six months after Madeleine, another 600 are still missing”
Missing persons charities yesterday released figures “showing that more than 600 children have been missing in the UK for as long as Madeleine McCann, and are still unaccounted for”
Many are foreign. Many are teenagers. Not all are blonde
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Prayers for Madeleine McCann, six months on”
“The 3,500-strong population of Rothley - its trees decked in yellow ribbons and messages of support - came to a near standstill as Kate and Gerry arrived from their nearby home”
Locals can’t move for the press?
Rothley is an “affluent Midlands enclave”. This is McCann Land – the enclave - a small territory culturally and ethnically different form the surrounding lands
Says Gerry in his blog: “We have no idea whether she is suffering, but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”
THE GUARDIAN: “Madeleine book notes the ‘contradictions’”
More on Maddie 129, a book by Hernani Carvalho and Luis Maia
“The message is that the case just doesn’t add up,” says a representative of the book’s publishers
THE SCOTSMAN: “Six months on, McCanns in new Maddie plea”
The picture of Madeleine on a Shetland pony was taken on a day out at the Hatton Country World park in Warwickshire on April 13 – “less than three weeks before she went missing”
THE TIMES: “Gerry McCann: ‘our princess prayer for Madeleine’”
Gerry McCann’s blog: “It is so painful for us simply being separated, but all the more distressing when we have to speculate about the situation Madeleine finds herself [in]. We have no idea whether she is suffering but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”

Andy, you may be right on that one! (And if you are then we’re back to square one with Madeleine!). Have you contacted anyone with what you found?

Stevo: “Like I said though - the dustbin is easily checked and if it is a dustbin made in the USA and not found in Portugal then the likelihood of baby Grace being Madeleine is nil isn’t it?”
I’d hope they would have good enough samples from all parties, that they wouldn’t focus solely on that when disproving this. People send can/do send lots of items over from the USA to whatever country they are moving to and sometimes leave such items behind, give them away, or throw them away. I know when I was clearing out of halls in the UK, I threw out quite a couple of storage containers that were made in the US, anyone could have picked one up, I also gave some away to my flatmates (if they had room for it when they were moving their belongings out, as you know, sometimes they’ll try and charge you for leaving things behind).
The origin of the box is important, and could be another incriminating piece of evidence in the Baby Grace case; but for it to automatically disprove the possibility of Baby Grace possibly being a foreign child or dying in an area outside of America, I disagree with that.

Andy, oh how sad. They do seem to look alike.

Yes, I think you’re right. I think it was Tal & Qual which they were going to sue, not 24Horas.
Same thoughts though!

Tony Bennett…Tony, I made some noises in here last week about whether the McCanns paid the royalties due on the song on their website by Bryan Adams. I don’t know if you read the thread but a day after I raised the issue, the song had disappeared off http://www.findmadeleine.com
I found that there are 4 owners of “(Everything I do) I Do It For You”. Bryan Adams has a 18.75% share while the remaining shares are owned by record companies.
Is there anyway you can call the companies to find out if they did authorise/rescind the use of the song? I have a list of them but no phone numbers.

Re. “Baby Grace”.
If not Madeleine it could possibly be this missing girl;

Stevo, do me a favour pls …. go and have a look at the photo taken in the playground (with the guy with sunglasses on in the background). Modify, enlarge, brighten image, do whatever you have to …. but tell me what shoes is Madeleine wearing in that photo?

The only photos I have seen from the holiday of Madeleine are the photo you showed could be doctored and the one of M holding a pile of tennis balls at a tennis court. I am only assuming that the latter is from May 2007 it may not be.
Ah forgot the one by the toy house/slide. That makes a possible three - maybe they were saving the big photo shoot for the 4th.

That was the notorious ‘last photo’ where it is possible that either the photo itself, or the time, was doctored.
Proof please?
Notorious? What because stevo concocted up a bullshit story, which, in the end only proved that stevo likes playing around with photoshop.
+++++++++++++++++
Why so narrow minded?
What Stevo demonstrated was how it was ‘possible’ to manipulate that last picture. No one has ever suggested it “was” manipulated, just pointed out that it could be.
I have questioned how/if the date that the picture was taken can be verified?
Both seem reasonable propositions/questions to ask? Doesn’t mean either happened, they are just questions. Do you have a problem with questions?

louise, i don’t believe you but anyway.
i could find the word for word post, but you would just change your anme again, so theres no point

Actually it was 2 photos Peter. The famous 1:29/2:29pm “last photo” and the playground one with the black guy in sunglasses standing behind them.
Publishing more old photos only emphasises to me that there’s something to hide on any photos taken in the week prior to May 3.

Yes, you’re right, they are backing off. At least, they’re not saying anything much.
Like you, I can’t read the original article!

As a pro-McCann, give good reasons for not publishing contemporary photos from their holiday but continuing to publish old images.

No. I’m afraid you’re wrong. I’ve never posted that before. Which leads me to the conclusion there are posters of similar mind in the Anorak forums.
More than one of us thinks you post a lot of ’shit’. (Trust me, I would own up if it was a fair cop).

Why did you ask him to prove it then? You only have to prove facts - not ideas and theories.
I PROVED it is easy to doctor a photo and was easy to doctor that final photo. I didn’t say that it WAS doctored. I could prove whether it was doctored but I’d need the original image. You know I’m not going to get the original image so why waste time asking the question to prove it?

If the mods & admin could introduce a feature whereby you could request to be emailed when a new point, a fresh argument or a different question appeared in these threads…
..when do you think it would have last fired?
November 4th, 2007 at 7:50 pm
I agree with Alexis that we should not introduce ‘character assassinations’ but I do think it is OK to query their reported actions on 3 May (I am not particulary bothered about whether or not Kate McCann cries or not but have to admit that comment on their body language and replies in interviews is valid).
I also think that the political dimension possibilities are fair game as the secondment of a civil servant with Cabinet Office links as PR is unprecedented and is unlikely to be repeated.

Maybe they’re saving up all the charges?!
If they are charged, there’d be no point suing anyway, until and unless they were acquitted. If convicted, the only thing they could probably sue for would be reports that GM is not Madeleine’s biological father.
If acquitted they could probably make millions if they choose carefully which papers they sue and for what!
If they are relieved of their arguido status and never charged, I think that they will be in a position to sue the pants off some media organisations, again, if they choose carefully.
I only meant that a standard way papers protect themselves from libel charges (not always successfully) is by claiming just to be quoting others rather than stating things as facts in which they believe themselves. They can have the most horrendous headline, often in quotation marks but begin the article itself with something like,
“The McCanns must be shocked today by the amazing allegation that they…………A source close to the investigation said yesterday that they supposedly…………Already coping with the ordeal of 102 days without their lovely daughter, Madeleine, the McCanns now must deal with…….”
The headline probably said something like,
“DNA Evidence Does Put Parents in Frame”.
In other words, the paper will have the best of all worlds, sell more copies of their rag, keep all elements of the public happy enough and still protect itself against being sued.
They do make mistakes though. They’ll need to watch out if the McCanns are cleared.
November 4th, 2007 at 7:50 pm
703…Maria
I can only find Rag reports which deal
with the 24 horas report…can’t find
(or could read the Portuguese Language)
an actual 24 Horas Report.
Perhaps what you say is correct in that
“sources” were not actually quoted until
24 Horas defied the McCann’s to sue..as
“their sources were impeccable”.
I am not clear on the actual Legal implications
or nuances of either not quoting the word
“sources” or quoting it.
I’ll leave that up to the Legal Eagles.
But the McCann’s seemed to back off.

They have only ever produced one photo of Madeleine on holiday in Praia da Luz. Edit…..

Do we know whose camera the playground picture came from?

louise, you have made that exact post prior to this evening, i aint gonna earch back for the post but it was a couple of weeks ago and under a different name, is there a reason you need to change your name periodically, or do you wanna make it look as if there is more than 1 promccanner?

From the sound of it, baby Grace sounds like Madeleine.
Like I said though - the dustbin is easily checked and if it is a dustbin made in the USA and not found in Portugal then the likelihood of baby Grace being Madeleine is nil isn’t it?

I think the lack of contemporary photos is because the McCanns know there’d be too many clues coming out of their publication.
There has to be a good reason for not publishing them. There seems to be no good reason for NOT publishing them other than a devious reason.
I sent you an email to your btinternet address as a test.

Can someone explain to me how they can accuse a poster ( Garth) of being incapable of debating when another poster (bulldump) thinks debate is comparing a poster to something ‘you can open up and shit in ‘ (sic).
Does that constitute debate? Last i heard, Bulldump was just being offensive and contributing zero to any attempts at debate. I know this is a satirical site but comparing posters with shitting in a box seem a bit juvenile and witless.
I’m coming to the conclusion that, judging his choice of pseudonym and comment, the bloke is obsessed with crap of any kind.
November 4th, 2007 at 7:43 pm
the mccanns could tryand sue the papers, but considering they are the only friends of the mccanns and mimikins really needs the media to fight thier corner for them it would be really bad news for them
i think it is highly likey that the papers are building them up so they can drop them like a sack of shit.
jade goody is a classical example, before they fitted her up for racism, i even read in a paper that jade goody was one of the most fantasized women in the country.
well, i dont think that her comments were racially motivated, but at the same time i thing she is a fat slut trollop and not fantasized by anyone without a cellulite fetish
