Madeleine McCann: Mafia, A Bag Of Clothes And Missing Children
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD: “Maddie DNA clue in airport bag”
A bag of clothes containing “DNA linked to Madeleine McCann” has been found dumped by a road in Portugal.” It is a white carrier bag. It was in a layby two weeks ago near Faro airport.
“The bag contained a blue fleece jacket and a pair of adult jeans with traces of DNA that contained ‘moderate’ links to Madeleine”. And: “There was also a SHOWER CURTAIN inside.” And a white flannel, a green elastic band, a light green child’s T-shirt with a green flower on the front and a pink and blue pencil case with a pink heart motif
“Godfather in Madeleine hunt… Crime godfathers in Morocco—where there have been several alleged sightings of Maddie - have been told cops will scale back drug busts if they do”
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MY LITTLE MADDY” - a picture of Madeleine McCann on a pony with Kate McCann by her side
• “McCanns heartache as Cops say: “Case closes in 7 weeks
• Police to leave cloud of suspicion over Kate and Gerry”
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY – McCANN FRIENDS TO BE NAMED AS SUSPECTS”
“Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, Matthew Oldfield and Dr David Payne were last night forced to bring in their own lawyers after increasing fears that Portuguese police were preparing to implicate them in the case of the vanished four-year-old girl”
So will they be named as suspects or not? The Express say yes and then prevaricates
DAILY STAR ON SUNDAY front page: “MADDIE SIX MONTHS ON – 15 NEW CLUES”
That picture of Madeleine McCann on a horse. A clue?
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “ANSWER OUR PRAYERS - ON THE SIX-MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF LOSING MADDIE Kate weeps at church service for Maddie as parents suffer crushing blow”
“The devout couple first took two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie for ‘a few moments of solitude’ at their village church to remember missing Maddie”
A solitude watched by person who told the press? No need with Clarence Mitchell to fill in the gaps, Says he: “Kate and Gerry wanted a few moments of solitude praying for Madeleine with the twins”
Inside the church: “A collage of pictures of a happy Maddie - including the one…of her sitting on a black Shetland pony - took pride of place near the altar. Six snaps of the youngster next to smiling faces of other missing children were pinned onto a green notice board. Supporters were encouraged to look at the pictures before praying”
And they pray for…
The People looks at “respected” Portuguese daily Publico, which tells: “Six months on from Madeleine’s disappearance, the police theory remains the same. That the child died by accident in her room - and her parents committed the crime of hiding her body”
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine’s parents hold prayer vigil six months to the minute after she disappeared”
There are about 200 people at the “700-year-old church” near Rothley, Leicestershire
The McCanns are suspects
“Other missing children - including British toddler Ben Needham, who disappeared while on holiday in Greece in 1991, were also remembered at the service”
Did Ben Needham’s family ask for this? Want it?
Says the Rev Rob Gladstone: “Comfort and liberate all those, especially young children who have been taken from their families against their will, give courage to their grieving families”
A board says “Pray for all missing children.” How were the faces on the board selected? Many children are missing
THE INDEPENDENT: “Six months after Madeleine, another 600 are still missing”
Missing persons charities yesterday released figures “showing that more than 600 children have been missing in the UK for as long as Madeleine McCann, and are still unaccounted for”
Many are foreign. Many are teenagers. Not all are blonde
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Prayers for Madeleine McCann, six months on”
“The 3,500-strong population of Rothley - its trees decked in yellow ribbons and messages of support - came to a near standstill as Kate and Gerry arrived from their nearby home”
Locals can’t move for the press?
Rothley is an “affluent Midlands enclave”. This is McCann Land – the enclave - a small territory culturally and ethnically different form the surrounding lands
Says Gerry in his blog: “We have no idea whether she is suffering, but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”
THE GUARDIAN: “Madeleine book notes the ‘contradictions’”
More on Maddie 129, a book by Hernani Carvalho and Luis Maia
“The message is that the case just doesn’t add up,” says a representative of the book’s publishers
THE SCOTSMAN: “Six months on, McCanns in new Maddie plea”
The picture of Madeleine on a Shetland pony was taken on a day out at the Hatton Country World park in Warwickshire on April 13 – “less than three weeks before she went missing”
THE TIMES: “Gerry McCann: ‘our princess prayer for Madeleine’”
Gerry McCann’s blog: “It is so painful for us simply being separated, but all the more distressing when we have to speculate about the situation Madeleine finds herself [in]. We have no idea whether she is suffering but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”

Andy - have you got any more info on that story? Can’t seem to find anything.

Alexis - don’t forget that it was Kate’s own mother who announced to the whole world that Kate thought she would get more sympathy (!!!!!!) if she had bigger boobs.
All Stevo and Bulldump did was oblige.
Rather sporting of them actually.

I found this article about baby Grace:
“She was wearing a pink pullover top and a pink broom skirt. Both were the Cherokee brand from Target. She also wore white and purple tennis shoes that were children’s size 8 1/2 and purchased at Wal-Mart.”

My conclusion:
It isn’t Madeleine. Where would the McCanns have got the clothes from? Gerry hadn’t been to America before his visit to Washington this summer.

alexis, these pictures were made by us for a satirical site, if you gonna get offended then i suggest you go to the bbc or the news of the world site, i’m sure they would be far more suited to someone like you.
Listen Bullfinch, don’t attempt to lecture me on satire. I know what satire is.I understand its purpose and enjoy good satire as do many. The problem here is you don’t appear to understand its purpose, or know the difference between good satire and sick presentations. FYI ,Iam very sure there are sites more suitable for you . I can’t give you references because they hold no interest for me nor I am sure for other decent posters on this blog both “pro “and “anti”.

Why hasn’t this made sky news or others when they are always running alleged sightings of blondes etc that COULD be her…
Because its only the views of alarmists perhaps? Afterall, it was in America. Only reportings of sightings a bit closer to home have been taken seriously. And anyway. Who the hell is going to kidnap a child in Portugal and take them to the states. Blimey o reilly. I think an easier target for some paedophile wanting a child in the Usa might actually be the Usa?
Dont tell me you think she floated all that way across the ocean?

i am sure we all know, have been in conversations with, school teachers, social workers ,policemen ,who start to tell us stories, when we have to say STOP,because what they are telling us is so against our understanding of human nature that we cant handle it,all a say to garth, louise etc is the worst things you can think off do happen, and by people we least expect,so try not to be so blinkered, and take in some of the POSSable theories discussed here , it will make it easier on you if proved true,if not then just another part of growing up in the REAL world

The question of prosecution immunity for information to anyone involved ( I would imagine that it may exclude anyone directly involved in M’s death) is being raised by some experts. Whether or not the PJ goes down that route is as yet unknown but possible given that the police may need a confession from someone to back up the evidence that is held. It appears that the PJ have evidence of a dead Madeleine but are having difficulty pinning it on anyone particular.

It could still be Maddie!
That child appears too tall to be B.G at 99cm
B.G when converted from inches is 89cm and Maddie was or is 90cm as stated on official website so she appears nearer Maddie’s height.
Why hasn’t this made sky news or others when they are always running alleged sightings of blondes etc that COULD be her…

“Tuttoilmondo added that several callers said they believe the child’s body, which was discovered by a fisherman late Monday, may be that of Madeleine McCann, a 4-year-old British girl whose disappearance from a resort hotel in Portugal in May has made international headlines. In September, Portuguese police formally identified Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann as suspects in the case.
“Based on the totality of the circumstances, we do not believe it’s her (Madeleine),” Tuttoilmondo said adding that the Sheriff’s Office is also working with FBI authorities to completely rule out the possibility.”

I think Tony Bennett was alluding to the idea that the photo had become notorious within the forum rather than in the public domain.
Of course john, your right. But then a lot of people dont know that. Infact there’s a lot of things Mr Bennett says which some misconstrue as fact. Theres a lot of things that we hear through the Portuguese press that some believe to be fact. Thats why I made a point about it.

Remigius,
I think, if Mccanns get charged, Mitchell will be just fine. He will always state he believed them, he will write a book maybe.
His reputation should not suffer, because he does his job properly. His task is not to truly defend Mc. or look reasonable, his job is TO KEEP MC. IN THE HEADLINES. Each day - new piece of misleading info, or opinions, for people to keep buying newspapers. Yes, he comes across as a shameless liar, but is not it his job description, and is not he keeping the nation entertained?
Alexis,
Funny, I have never thought of hiding! Do you read books? A name is a label, some people like to be represented by their first name, some choose the appropriate X or Y. The important thing is that when a person uses several names, it is misleading and dishonest, sometimes. Regarding the girl - I fell so sorry for her, but she is DEAD. So I wish justice for her.

Maria,
Your judgments are right. But that’s my point. Don’t you think that there’s too much “calculus” there? For two desperate parents to whom one thing matters in this world: finding their daughter alive… ?
If I was trying to find my daughter, the relevance of all this (including press, my image, including a jail sentence) was zero

More good Journalism from Transfattyacid’s Blog.
Whining for England
The Daily Mail has picked up on the story of the
Tapas 7 being named as arguidos: well 4 of them
anyway: well the police want to question them….
and seeing as the questioning will take place in
Britian (seemingly) then there is no need to name
them as arguidos because if the questioning is
carried out under British police procedure then
they will have all the rights incurred on an arguido -
but you get the point.
The paper names the four as Russell O’Brien, Jane
Tanner, Matthew Oldfield and David Payne. And
then to ensure there is no confusion they give
pictures of Fiona Payne, Jane Tanner, Racheal
Oldfield and Russell O’Brien.
And before treating the report with too much
seriousness, it should be kept in mind that this
is one newspaper writing a story based on a report
in another newspaper, written with the aid of
unnamed sources.
There are a few humourous items in the piece:
“He has been subject to a vicious Portuguese press
campaign alleging he was absent for over an hour
when Madeleine went missing. He has threatened
to sue, insisting: “These reports are completely
untrue and extremely hurtful.”"
Vicious? How is it vicious to report Russell
O’Brien’s movements?
Especially as these reports are tied into the
issue of child-care, since the reports add that
his daughter was being sick and yet both he
and his partner Jane Tanner, left the vomitting
child at various ties to go and eat dinner.
And the fact that he threatened to sue is only
relevant if papers have been served. Anyone
can say they are going to do something.
Then there is this:
“Mrs Oldfield accused Portuguese police of
“throwing mud when we are not able to defend
ourselves”.”
Well excuse me for stating the bleeding obvious,
but for the past six months the paper’s have been
full of reports about the McCanns. I somehow suspect
that had Mrs Oldfield wished to give her tupennyworth
that it would have someone made it into the media.
This is little more than pathetic whinging.
People who are unable to defend themself
could reasonably be described as the victims
of Robert Mugabwe, those on incapacity benefit
when forced to listen to New Labour ministers
branding them workshy and feigning illness,
or the billion and one other people who are
oppressed by governments and their media
lackeys worldwide.
Though my favourite piece of nonsense was this:
“The so-called ‘Tapas Nine’ members are barred from
talking about the Maddie case because of Portugal’s strict
secrecy laws.”
Oh really?
Then how come we know the views of Charlotte Pennington,
the waiters, and the various other eye-witnesses who
have popped up over the months to give their stories.
And how come Kate and Gerry McCann have been on
television and quoted widely in the media, both
attributed and unattributed?
And more to the point, how come Jane Tanner’s photofit
was attached to the launch of the 50p a minute hotline.
Isn’t that her being quoted?
End.

But a source close to the private detectives hired by the McCanns claims the samples - which are still being examined by the Forensic Science Service in Birmingham - are heavily contaminated and do not provide reliable evidence in the case.
—————————————————————————————————————————
Not only content with annoying Morocco the private detectives must have access to the results of the forensic tests.
If you also read the article by Daniel Cochlin about the town where Madeleine is supposed to be held you can see the wide breadth of Cochlin’s talent - features on Lily Allen, NHS and the banning of Christmas decorations plus other past stories on sport.

For gawds sake. Your taking everthing out of context. Tony Bennett claimed that the picture to be ‘notorious’ and he uses it as though it is widely accepted as such. But its not is it? It was just you, like you say, proving that it could be doctored. Oh and not forgetting that the time was tampered with. (another reason for ‘notorious’).
So me asking for ‘proof’ is just me ridiculing his apt suggestion.
