Madeleine McCann: Mafia, A Bag Of Clothes And Missing Children
MADDY WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
NEWS OF THE WORLD: “Maddie DNA clue in airport bag”
A bag of clothes containing “DNA linked to Madeleine McCann” has been found dumped by a road in Portugal.” It is a white carrier bag. It was in a layby two weeks ago near Faro airport.
“The bag contained a blue fleece jacket and a pair of adult jeans with traces of DNA that contained ‘moderate’ links to Madeleine”. And: “There was also a SHOWER CURTAIN inside.” And a white flannel, a green elastic band, a light green child’s T-shirt with a green flower on the front and a pink and blue pencil case with a pink heart motif
“Godfather in Madeleine hunt… Crime godfathers in Morocco—where there have been several alleged sightings of Maddie - have been told cops will scale back drug busts if they do”
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MY LITTLE MADDY” - a picture of Madeleine McCann on a pony with Kate McCann by her side
• “McCanns heartache as Cops say: “Case closes in 7 weeks
• Police to leave cloud of suspicion over Kate and Gerry”
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY – McCANN FRIENDS TO BE NAMED AS SUSPECTS”
“Dr Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, Matthew Oldfield and Dr David Payne were last night forced to bring in their own lawyers after increasing fears that Portuguese police were preparing to implicate them in the case of the vanished four-year-old girl”
So will they be named as suspects or not? The Express say yes and then prevaricates
DAILY STAR ON SUNDAY front page: “MADDIE SIX MONTHS ON – 15 NEW CLUES”
That picture of Madeleine McCann on a horse. A clue?
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “ANSWER OUR PRAYERS - ON THE SIX-MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF LOSING MADDIE Kate weeps at church service for Maddie as parents suffer crushing blow”
“The devout couple first took two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie for ‘a few moments of solitude’ at their village church to remember missing Maddie”
A solitude watched by person who told the press? No need with Clarence Mitchell to fill in the gaps, Says he: “Kate and Gerry wanted a few moments of solitude praying for Madeleine with the twins”
Inside the church: “A collage of pictures of a happy Maddie - including the one…of her sitting on a black Shetland pony - took pride of place near the altar. Six snaps of the youngster next to smiling faces of other missing children were pinned onto a green notice board. Supporters were encouraged to look at the pictures before praying”
And they pray for…
The People looks at “respected” Portuguese daily Publico, which tells: “Six months on from Madeleine’s disappearance, the police theory remains the same. That the child died by accident in her room - and her parents committed the crime of hiding her body”
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine’s parents hold prayer vigil six months to the minute after she disappeared”
There are about 200 people at the “700-year-old church” near Rothley, Leicestershire
The McCanns are suspects
“Other missing children - including British toddler Ben Needham, who disappeared while on holiday in Greece in 1991, were also remembered at the service”
Did Ben Needham’s family ask for this? Want it?
Says the Rev Rob Gladstone: “Comfort and liberate all those, especially young children who have been taken from their families against their will, give courage to their grieving families”
A board says “Pray for all missing children.” How were the faces on the board selected? Many children are missing
THE INDEPENDENT: “Six months after Madeleine, another 600 are still missing”
Missing persons charities yesterday released figures “showing that more than 600 children have been missing in the UK for as long as Madeleine McCann, and are still unaccounted for”
Many are foreign. Many are teenagers. Not all are blonde
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Prayers for Madeleine McCann, six months on”
“The 3,500-strong population of Rothley - its trees decked in yellow ribbons and messages of support - came to a near standstill as Kate and Gerry arrived from their nearby home”
Locals can’t move for the press?
Rothley is an “affluent Midlands enclave”. This is McCann Land – the enclave - a small territory culturally and ethnically different form the surrounding lands
Says Gerry in his blog: “We have no idea whether she is suffering, but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”
THE GUARDIAN: “Madeleine book notes the ‘contradictions’”
More on Maddie 129, a book by Hernani Carvalho and Luis Maia
“The message is that the case just doesn’t add up,” says a representative of the book’s publishers
THE SCOTSMAN: “Six months on, McCanns in new Maddie plea”
The picture of Madeleine on a Shetland pony was taken on a day out at the Hatton Country World park in Warwickshire on April 13 – “less than three weeks before she went missing”
THE TIMES: “Gerry McCann: ‘our princess prayer for Madeleine’”
Gerry McCann’s blog: “It is so painful for us simply being separated, but all the more distressing when we have to speculate about the situation Madeleine finds herself [in]. We have no idea whether she is suffering but we have to hope and pray that she is being treated like a princess, as she deserves”

JKR still has her money on the table for the reward along with Stephen Winyard and the other big players…. no pulling back there.
Don’t think anyone has withdrawn… after all, the McCanns haven’t even been charged with anything let alone convicted!

yep I’m enjoying the spectacle of PR disaster par excellence
Is this the end of spin as we know it?
blair lost out to it and gordie broon seems to be a bit scared of it…
On a serious note i mentioned several weeks ago that this whole fiasco would make excellent case study material (how NOT to do it) for PR/marketing etc students. Someone posted that journalism students at the falmouth college, cornwall are doing exactly that - and they pop in here occasionally. I like the idea of that - maybe we get a generation of proper journos at last ha ha

I worry about motive… the level of motive required for the Tapas 7 to assist / collude with the abduction scenario (knowing the seriousness of the crime - covering up a death) is enormous. It’s hard to think of a scenario where there would be sufficient motivation.

Yes, and it is interesting that they decided upon making the abduction take place while at the restaurant, rather than later on while everyone was asleep.

Tony Bennett 39 Cooland calm34 Thea 30 The media coverage in the UK has been poor. In my opinion too much favour being given to the McCanns and lacking in objectivity. Sky News has been poor ,but this might be because GBrowns wife once work for Sky and didn’t the former chancellor have verbal contact with the McCanns in the early days. ?Since then GB has distanced himself from the case. Iread somewhere that the case would not be archived for 15 years because of political sensitivities. What do you make of that?? Regarding the check in issue at Faro that appeared on Paulo Reis blog spot dated 2 Nov. Also can anyone tell me if and when JK Rowling withdrew her support. Did you know she is friendly with the Browns and went to visit the ir baby in hospital– perhaps JKR got wind of the “inconsistencies” early on ???

Garth… they were with the Mark Warner tennis professional so I guess he is in on the plot also as he confirmed they were there.
That’s as well as the 4 MW nannies who stated Madeleine was at the creche that afternoon!
Dangerous place to go on holiday with all those villians and reprobates hanging around ready to cover up any unexplained death that happens along.

I wonder if the Comical One knows she’s shooting her mouth off again? Marvellous, I say.

Let’s have a whip-round! My heart bleeds for them? How can we let this role-model family struggle on the bread-line for one day more? How can we be so cold and callous? Imagine breaking your back for 12 hours a week and all you get for your efforts is a miserable £75,000pa. I’m thinking of selling my house to help them. Maybe Terry Wogan could donate his fee for Children in Need to the “Keep Kate and Gerry in their swanky house” fund?

I wonder if the likes of Branson and Kennedy will be ’sponsoring’ the ‘tapas tennis’ partners if, as we are led to believe they are made ‘arguidos’…..also will they be designated their own little Clarries? Its going to get pretty crowded!

Tony
“The specific naming of all the other four ‘Tapas 9′ men, plus Russell O’Brien’s partner Jane Tanner, confirms my view, which I’ve posted before, that the four ‘Tapas 9′ men were not involved in a ’social tennis event’ between 5.30pm and 6.30pm/7pm - as claimed by a ’source close to the McCanns’ in a report in a couple of newspapers back in late September - but were involved in planning what to do with Madeleine’s body and how to enact a fake ‘abduction’ later that evening.”
Yes, and it is interesting that they decided upon making the abduction take place while at the restaurant, rather than later on while everyone was asleep.
“If all four ‘Tapas 9′ men were involved in covering up Madeleine’s death and arranging a false abduction scenario, we would still be left with the question of why. Were they all in some way ‘involved’ in Madeleine’s death?”
Very perceptive. The men were not directly involved in the death BUT they likely WERE involved with whoever caused the death, or whoever caused it to be necessary to get rid of the body.
The two immediately most suspcious are Murat (correctly made a suspect by the police) AND the mystery man accompanying the gooseberry, who is likely the one being protected (or, he is a relative of someone who needs protection, etc).
There are a couple of points to focus upon:
1) why did Tapas9 lie about the children all being together, falsely claiming that they were “making the rounds” doing their checking?
2) supposing the entire McCann story of leaving the children unsupervised is a lie, WHO was with the children on a nightly basis?
and then
3) what happened to the police request that other Britons staying at the resort voluntarily submit DNA?
At the time, Team McCann sought to make that request look like the police were admitting that there was an abductor. However, most likely the police were trying to find out WHO was with the children every night while the McCanns were out partying.
JMHO.

Hmm………..streuth, what ever next?
Okay Tony Bennett, lets just say your right. Lets try and substantiate your theories for all eyes to ponder over as your claims are very daming and very strong. I would however, hazard a guess that you know a little more than the average poster on here by the very nature of your theory. I’ll put a couple of honest questions to you :
You wrote:
“Inconsistencies between witnesses to a crime is one thing. But major, quite irreconcilable contradictions between their accounts is quite another”.
I would agree whole heartedly on that, if of course, that statement is correct. So can you substantiate that claim and tell us all where you get this ‘accurate’ information from? My point being you cannot make a statment like that if your knowlegde is no more than info based on ‘reported’ PJ leaks.
My second question to you is this:
If the ‘four’ were planning (as you claim) Madeleines abduction, do you not think it a little daft that their alibi of ‘being together’ irrespective of whether it was tennis or not, would appear a little more than suspicious if they didnt all report the same thing? After all they’re all very clever and cunning, enough even to plan one of their own daughters abduction. So if they did ‘booboo’ their alibi of playing tennis together then it must be a bit more than inacuraate timings for you to make that claim. Personally, if the reports are trueI dont beleive it could possibly be just about timings. It has to be more than that like one or maybe more claiming they were in a different place at that given time or didnt even mention any game of tennis.
Again whats your accurate source of this information?
If its all just about inaccurate timings (which i know your going to tell me different) I would of thought that given the fact that at the time of playing tennis, ‘timings’ were hardly relevent to them and implications of them possibly being caught up in an abduction theory are hardly something thats going to be on their mind whilst playing tennis, especially as the kidnapping hadnt even taken place. My point being that ‘timings’ can quite easily be a little inaccurate. However, claiming to be in a doifferent place at that given time could be very damaging to them. So what do you know that we dont?

Hundreds of tipsters from around the country have called Galveston authorities with possible leads to identify Baby Grace after sketches were released Friday of the child whose body was stuffed into a storage bin and found floating in Galveston Bay.
So, whilst the sheriff of Galveston didn’t still conclude whether that body found is or not Madeleine I suppose their family should already have travelled to USA to find out… that what anxious parents (having nothing to do with that) would do!
“… “We’re sorting through a lot of leads,” said Major Ray Tuttoilmondo with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. “Nothing has hit a home run yet.”
Tuttoilmondo added that several callers said they believe the child’s body, which was discovered by a fisherman late Monday, may be that of Madeleine McCann, a 4-year-old British girl whose disappearance from a resort hotel in Portugal in May has made international headlines. In September, Portuguese police formally identified Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann as suspects in the case.
“Based on the totality of the circumstances, we do not believe it’s her (Madeleine),” Tuttoilmondo said adding that the Sheriff’s Office is also working with FBI authorities to completely rule out the possibility…”

This Sunday Mail article has some quotes for Aunt Philomena about the McCanns being financially strapped:
—–
The tributes came as Madeleine’s Scots aunt revealed the family are struggling to cope financially after spending four months in Portugal and paying the mortgage on their £460,000 home.
Gerry this week returned part-time to his £75,000-a-year job as a heart consultant. But Kate is unlikely to return to her £45,000-a-year GP’s job.
Philomena McCann, a teacher in Ullapool, Wester Ross, said: “Gerry is trying to get back to a semblance of normal life. They’re skint so he has to get back to work.”
Philomena spent the anniversary on a school trip to the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium.
She said: “These landmark days are very, very hard for Kate and Gerry. Thank God for the twins, they are keeping them sane.
“I just have to put a brave face on it but we are all praying and hoping for the day Madeleine will be found safely.”

Notice the value of the McCann house has dropped from 600,000 GBP to 450,000 GBP. So those business men who are currently financing the McCanns’ living expenses are hoping for it to be short-term support?

Hilarious… I admit i had wondered a couple of weeks ago if anyone would have a cuddle cat guy fawkes but chose not to share it on here
I like the idea of a real, lasting McConn anniversary on 5 November - that’s a REAL anniversary, not a thicko gerrykins “6 -month anniversary” “for kate and I” (sic).
It would also reinforce the truly english tradition of burning catholics pip pip
AND lessen the impact of the awful haloween - which seems to have taken over of late.
To our US colleagues, that’s not an anti-american remark. I am told that haloween originated in ireland and floated across the atlantic.
